This is what I used on my US Gear. Works great!
Use Odin 3.09
Put Gear into Download mode and connect to PC
Unzip the file you downloaded then put in the AP section of Odin
Flash and wait for it to finish
This is all I did on my Gear and my girlfriends Gear to get Tizen. Loads better than Android IMO. Loads more battery life and the UI is better. Just a all around improvement.

ok i got it up and running and it actually connected to my n5 and i recieve notifications......now my other question. is there anyway to respond to them on the watch itself?

No

It cannot be done on Tizen like @dd323 says, at least not now. If you were still on the null rom, there was a thread that discussed this. But not as easy as on the phone of course, the watch is actually quite limited in terms of true usability in part due to its very small operating area.

Does anyone know if the Gear 1 works with our Note 4?
Been looking around and it seems it doesn't, but wanted to double check.
I can but one from a friend for $80 right now, but it doesn't do me any good if I can't link the two.
Thanks
Working perfectly here, Bluetooth tethering from my note 4. Running Null 23.

Huh? Can you explain that lol. What's Null 23?
Oh ok, nvm. So your gear is rooted...
And null 23 is the rom. So stock I can't, but rooted I can correct?
Null 23 here too. Works great. Never tried with the stock ROM, sorry. Might ask in the Gear forum too.
Running my Gear 1 (with Tizen) with my Note 4 (stock ROM unrooted). I got my Gear 1 after I had my Note 4. The Gear 1 stock ROM was Android and would not pair with my Note 4. After flashing Tizen, I've had a flawless experience.
My recommendation: if you are willing to flash the Gear 1 with Samsung's Tizen ROM, definitely go for it.
Working perfectly for me and my gear 1 isn't rooted.

So it's working stock for you?
I had null rom 23 on mine and even with stock rom the auto unlock feature doesn't work. So I upgraded to tizen and now everything is working. Also battery last longer on tizen.
Totally stock on both, works fine for me. I never did the Tizen upgrade though but it shouldn't make a difference.

Yes it was working stock. I rooted my note 4 and works as well. No problems here. You can see my watch paired.
I have both, stock, and they connect fine...
Kinda sorta unsatisfied with some of the options, though. The lack of app variety (paid and otherwise, there are a metric ton of clock faces and, apparantly, not much else that I could work with), is leaning me heavily towards Android Wear at the moment. (Especially considering Tockle, which can interact with Tasker, doesn't seem to have an equivalent on the Gear's ecosystem. With the Gear, I'd likely have to use LaunchGear or Wearable Widgets for a similar effect.)
Still doing research on that, though.

I screwed up. I bought the Gear 2 Neo & thought it would work with Nexus 5 Lollipop

There is no option to return it because I bought it from another country.
Do I have any recourse or way to use the device? Even with limited functionality?
Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Are there are foreseeable plans of a Samsung update to allow pairing with Nexus 5 Lollipop?
Thank you.

How likely is it? Is using Gear Manager a compromise compared to Android Wear?
Would it be better to just sell the watch and get one that is more compatible?

I tried it on a very early alpha version of lollipop on my Samsung device and it worked. But I hate to burst your bubble, it will be at least another couple of months until it is stable and more generally available. It relies heavy on gear manager which relies on the touchwiz environment. Why, for Pete's sake, this route was chosen is maybe one of Samsung's downfalls. Within two years they will be out of the market if they keep going with their business model, this consumer market does not care, but like you, will remember. Examples of such electronic giants reduced to rubble? Nokia, Nortel, Blackberry
Consumers want stuff to work, simple without all these prerequisites that are in fine print.
Tbh you are best of selling or donate it to a family member with a Samsung phone that has to be running Jellybean 4.3 or KitKat. Preferably a galaxy phone so S4, Note3, ß5 or Note4. Others.... Will not work without breaking their OS
Sad but true
Anyone tried Gear 2 Neo to see if it works with the newly pushed Android 5.0.1 on i9500 and i9506?
I'm curious if it will work from day 1 on i9505 when 5.0.1 will be pushed to these devices.
Thanks!
I have i9506, nordic edition and gear 2 neo, and they work together. Even better than on Kitkat, as s health was not receiving the Gear data for pedometer and such.
Now even that works. My s4 on the otherhand is laggy as hell with 5.0.1 , but that is not the issue here
I've installed i9505 5.0.1 and Samsung Gear doesn't work anymore. When started, it blinks a 1-2 times and crashes silently. I cannot connect to the watch with anything else (Android Wear for ex.) either.
Any ideas?
Later edit: I enabled bluetooth debug in Android Wear and tried several more times to connect through S-Gear and now it seems it connected and is trying to install additional software... hope it works out.
Haha, phone did a factory reset on the watch and now I'm trying again to connect to it .
Later edit: after managing to soft brick my phone, I reinstalled the 5.0.1 and this time, amazingly enough, Samsung Gear worked as it was supposed to so my watch is back to normal functions again.

Hello,
I tried every possible thing I found on the internet. Even went to change the name of the phone and model in /system files, without any success. I did manage, after downgrading to 4.4.4 to connect to the gear 2 neo, but I couldn't use any of it's features except answering the phone via the watch. I'm thinking maybe I can change the ROM of the watch to tizen and then make a connection with android wear. I searched but didn't find anyone who did this on gear 2 neo. Theoretically, it should work. I will post if I manage to do something.
Cheers,
Alex

Answering calls work with Lollipop too, just pair watch in Bluetooth settings. Second... You should install Android rom on watch, not Tizen. There is also Android Wear mod possibility... Roms for Gear 2 should also work on Neo (except camera)

A simple answer would have been more beneficial instead of what ever that is you regurgitated from whatever mind you have. I tried Google and had no success. I assumed the best forum out there would get me an accurate answer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQlxE8FE5cw this is gear 1 running tizen if your gear don't look like this then is running android simple at that
I understand you frustration. I too couldn't find anywhere exactly how to check the OS on the gear. Then I found the website for the stock roms and learnt. If your gear is running Software version V700XXUBNC1 or older, it is running Android 4.2.2. If your Software version is V700XXUCNE9 or V700XXECNF1 or V700XXUCNK1, then its running Tizen OS. Hope this helps.
Thanks both of you. I'm android.
So NA9 is android? And witch one is better I just got this a day or so ago and lost on it.

Hi, does the above bolded sentence mean Android Wear, or actually full Android?
I am asking because I have a Gear S (Tizen) and came to find out if anyone managed to put full Android on the Gear S.
My second option would be to get a Gear 1, which , from what I read, can be flashed with android, but, again, not sure if that means Android Wear or Android.
I am missing a few apps I'd like to use in stand-alone mode without a phone, that are not available on Tizen, so that's why I am looking to get either a second Gear if I can flash full Android on it, or flash my current one to Android when I upgrade it, of that's possible, of course.
Thanks!
It is not android wear. It is also not full android. But you can get full android if you flash with the null rom. However, the Gear S is Tizen. The above post is for the first Gear watch.
Mine is V700XXUBNA6. Tizen or Android? I just got a gear manager update yesterday. My phone is 100% stock. If my watch is Android why is it Android. I thought Samsung pushed Tizen? Thanks
... and why not ?
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-V700
Sorry but I don't follow links to sites I don't know. What are you saying? I'm not looking for tizen if that is what you thought. Just asking why it wasn't pushed to my phone.

Samsung Gear. Tizen or Android?

Hi. Bought a Galaxy Gear 1. It's still on Android at the moment. Is it worth upgrading to Tizen? Are there any major advantages or disadvantages? Thanks
Battery is better on Tizen and there are more apps from the store. But it looks like Android is the only way to get it working with Lollipop at least with non Samsung phones.
Thanks for the reply. I'll do a bit more research. I read you can revert back to android but is that 100% or just if your lucky.
Thanks
android
I would say android all the way. I have tried tizen and didn't last long before downgrading. Android has a lot more apps available from play store and is much more versatile. Better battery on tizen perhaps but you can always clock the speed down on android which helps.

I have done it honestly 30 times or more, it works 100% but you have to follow the directions to a T otherwise you end up with touch not working. If that happens just start over, it's happened to me a few times by not booting to recovery.

The Gear I has been on Tizen since July of 2014; almost a year. Do any of the original third party Android apps even still work? I'd imagine Samsung's work to some extent but even they'll sunset as Android isn't a supported OS for the Gear I any longer. If someone's using a Gear with a non-Samsung phone I guess that's different because it's kind of "franken-phone" set up any way. But with all the cheap Android Wear options available that really do work with any Android phone it seems kind of illogical to cling to a Samsung-biased device anyway.
jelly bean
Null ROM is jellybean, jellybean is still very much supported. Just install play store and you have just about any app availiable , screen size permitting.
I think that Android, null rom, have no support for NOTIFICATIONS if Lollipop is on the phone (Note 3). No way to make them work, for me. Tried a lot of Gear Manager versions... :/

I got some real over heating problems with using null 23 Rom for the Samsung gear 1. It continued to get really hot on my wrist and also displayed and over heating icon while charging. It have me hell to revert back to stock android, but I did. Dont know if I did something wrong but I did not try it again.
Very happy with Tizen.
I had such hi hopes for my gear but the app store was hopeless with the exception of watchstyler, upgraded to Tizen 3 days ago and can not believe the difference, Tizen really gives the gear wings. The watch faces in the Tizen app store are REALLY nice and I now have the apps I need, calender, calculater, flashlight and an app that lets me see on my watch through my phones camera. Not sure about the battery life but am so pleased to have upgraded.

I am a great fan of James Bond movies. As I have a smartwatch I would like to have a Clock in it with a JB look and feel.

Install from the Play Store the app "Watchmaker Premium" and you can design your own watchface.
But you can also download a lot of smartfaces from the internet, created by others.

(I did that on my Gear 2 and it works very well).
how well does android wear run on the gear2 neo and can you go back to stock tizen is it buggy does it offer more features ?

Android Wear runs really smooth and stable on the Gear 2 (and Neo).
It is far more customizable than Tizen and it has more apps to use in the Play Store.
The last stable and full version is based on Android 5.1.1, but there is also a version 6.0.1 which is currently in beta and in development. But I have the beta 2 running and it works really well.
Try it and you won't be disappointed. And you can turn back to Tizen if you want to.

i did end up finding a thread with the AW tar.md5 and i flashed it in odin. It booted, did the synch thing (took a while, but thats understandable) and eventually got the the GUI. All well and good, it was pretty responsive and looked really cool, but it wouldnt synch with the android wear app on my phone. The apk on the phone wouldnt find the device, but i could pair it via bluetooth settings, so i know that the bluetooth functionality was working on the watch and the phone, just not within the app. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, no change. Rebooted both devices, no change. I even factory reset my phone and reinstalled the app, no change. So i ended up restoring the tizen rom. Luckily, i made a root gear 2 neo thread because the restore tar.md5 provided in the AW thread didnt work, but mine did

Did you use the ZIP file from the thread I posted earlier ?
Because there is the latest version (4th of March release).
You flash the file in ODIN indeed and then it takes a while for the rom to boot up.
After that, follow the instructions on the screen of the watch.
The only thing you have to look out for, is that you use the AW app on your phone to pair the phone with the watch.
Do not pair it directly in the BT settings.
If you had your watch paired once before in the AW app, you have to "forget watch" in the AW app first, because the AW app then "holds" the watch but will never connect.
I don't know exactly what went wrong with your flash, but I would suggest not to give up so easily and try it again.
For any help, you can use the thread I posted earlier.
And also use Youtube to actually seeing how to install the AW rom onto your Gear 2 Neo.
Good luck.

I'll give it another whirl this weekend. I'd love to have aw on my watch as I'd like to run a cm ROM and Samsung gear manager doesn't work on cm. Also, I initially paired it in bt settings, then unpaired it and it still didn't work. Then I even reflagged the aw ROM on the watch and redid the process and it wouldn't pair. I'm not a newb, and I know I followed the instructions to a t, but it could have been a bad download. I'll not give up! I just haven't had time to readdress it yet. 3 day weekend should allow for it tho
Thanks man. It was just a bad version of AW. I downloaded the most recent one from March, and it's working like a charm!! I'm just going to hafta familiarize myself with AW vs tizen. Thanks again man!

Correct, currently you can't make calls on the watch (using the watch microphone and speaker).
The developer of the AW port (Biktor_gj) still needs to work this out.
However, he's recently became a dad of a beautiful daughter....so his spare time is now taken up by her (which is of course logical).
But you should be able to at least answer the call (swipe to answer) and take the call on your phone.
Right on. Thanks!
