Not without the skills and equipment to desolder the EEPROM chip and reprogram it.

Nope.

Can't flash a different OS/ROM because that requires a flasher, and FlashCast (the flasher) won't run on an updated bootloader without being signed by Google.

The problem isn't so much the exploit, it's getting unsigned/unapproved code to run on Chromecast at all.

Use a method similar to FlashCast(via OTG cable), then, well, run it.

CC won't load and run software from any source after 12072 that is not signed by Google.
That's why if you want to root with the current known exploit you root a CC with 12072 firmware, and those are getting far and few between. They are still out there I just got my last one for $50 bucks off eBay. Guy misspelled the listing

Safest Way To Root

Hey everybody, I just got my note 3 this morning. I'm not new to rooting but I don't know the root procedure for this phone. Could someone please guide me in the right direction? My build number ends with MI9 if that helps ..

IF using MI9, use RDLV on it, and quickly, before it gets the OTA update (I'd disconnect it from networks entirely until it was rooted. Don't use RDLV if it's gotten the update!)
If it's not on MI9 anymore, your only options are kingo/vroot. Both of those are not allowed to be linked to on XDA because of suspicions about them being malicious (though many people have used them and reported no issues)
Downloaded rdlv last night left my phone charging woke up to my wife playing on it. She took the update cuz the phone asked her if she wanted to update. :banghead: anyway to downgrade don't really wanna use the other 2 options

How to unroot?

I've just rooted my device using geohot's towelroot.apk and now I can't use my ISIS wallet app for my free Jamba Juice smoothies. I'm searching around and I can't find a method to unroot.
Kies3 isn't working either as it says "firmware initialisation is not supported by this model"
PLEASE HELP!
Edit: I've also tried to use SuperSU to unroot, but it won't let me update the binaries and just force closes
Edit 2:
*** PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR ALL OTHER USERS THAT HAVE THIS ISSUE
I found out that you cannot use the SuperSU downloaded from the play store as it will just force close. Download the apk from this link: http://download.chainfire.eu/447/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r4.zip
SuperSU should be able to update itself successfully after you open the application. Afterwards, you can use the permanent unroot option from the settings and that's it! I'm going to go get my free smoothie now.
I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES AND NEED TO UNROOT ALSO.

Yes. You will install the superuser apk that is floating around if you haven't already and then update the binaries after you open the app.
Then go to settings in the superuser app and do the permanent unroot. I also uninstalled the towel root app too just in case. Then reboot and you should be unrooted.

Your looking for the Boot Animation from the Note 4 Lollipop (TouchWiz) Update Correct? If so, it's the same exact thing. The "vanilla" lollipop ROM boot animation has been on here countless times. Unless your referring to a lollipop kernel all the information has been given.
