After I unlocked and rooted my HTC one m7 I missed some of system apps and now I can't install ota update , I tried to install stock recovery but still failed..!
Yeah, once you root, no more stock OTAs. So, start researching custom Roms. You'll always be way ahead of stock OTAs anyway.

never post imei and serialno from a fastboot getvar all and btwm you already have posted a getvar at post #4
do the ota update, when in recovery, vol+ and power to see what file cause the update to fail. look at the post I linked above.
when you have determined which file is missing or have unexpected content, you can push the correct one to your phone and try the ota again.

what to do if after vol+ & power button, then I choose "install from phone memory", the phone keeps giving me "invalid operation" messages and won't get to the file directory. I'm on S-on, unrooted, stock recovery, stock ROM, hboot 1.55. I tried to install OTA updates from htc1guru, from 3.63.707.4 to 4.20.707.7
Thanks

you can't install ota update manually (from stock recovery) with s-on. Initiate the installation from the OS, settings ---> about --> software updates

Hey guys! So, I got a pop up on my phone last week for the 4.4.2 update However, I seem to be unable to install it. I get booted into twrp, so I try to install it from there, but it says flash failed. I am completely hopeless with things like this (wasn't me who rooted my phone etc). Any help would be very appreciated and apologies for my stupid question.

you need stock recovery to install ota. Find the stock recovery you need and flash it like any recovery
Code:
fastboot flash recovery <name_of_file>.img
fastboot reboot
and try to install the ota again.

post the output of fastboot getvar all minus IMEI/sn
Hi there.
I like fiddling and wanted to build some BLE apps and hence required Android 4.3 or higher. We were seriously slow with the updates here in South Africa and I decided to root and load stock HTC 4.3 and later 4.4. My phone does however want to do OTA updates on 4.4 (even though other M7 users here don't have it yet, only received 4.3 about a month ago, which was when I flashed 4.4). I understand 4.4.2 for the M7 is out and would like to keep with the HTC stock updates. I do however experience your exact same issue and have read previously that I need a stock Recovery.
My question is exactly the same as yours. How do I know which Recovery to download and where do I download it from. Finding ROMs is easy and so is custom Recoveries (like TWRP), but not sure about finding the stock Recovery.
Thanks guys!

The Stock recovery needs to match your current "version-main", so in your case a 3.63.x.x , if you can match all 4 numbers that's best but for sure the first two.

I relocked it and tried to use a RUU.exe and .zip but both didnt work. Getting errors like "12 signature verify fail"
I flashed a firmware, but the only thing is that the htc logo is shown and it ends in a bootloop (guess because no system is on the phone)
my S-ON is active, do i have to turn it to S-OFF? How can I do it if I can only enter the fastboot mode (adb doesnt work).

You have to flash the firmware.zip file first if you haven't flashed it.
It contains new bootloader stock recovery and radio and etc. Find appropriate firmware of your model then use ruu it will work.

You are not supposed to use that reset ROM when your hboot is 1.57.0000
Do you have a TWRP installed ?
Is the bootloader unlocked ?
If yes for both question then I'll provide you a link to 5.12.707.104 backup. With this backup and the stock recovery for 5.12.707.104, you can do OTA to 5.12.707.105
Or you can try this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/general/stock-rom-reset-t2802061

I'm rooted/s-off and trying to install the latest Sprint RUU, but run into an error. It happens on the black screen with the HTC logo, right after the RUU boots up the bootloader.
Any ideas on how to rectify this?
Also, is the latest fw able to be rooted, just in case I don't like it I can restore the backup I made?

Any ideas on how to rectify this?
Also, is the latest fw able to be rooted, just in case I don't like it I can restore the backup I made?

Do you have more info on the bootloader?
Also, just for reference, can we see your fastboot getvar all ?
Remove IMEI, serial No and MEID.
To answer your second questions, yes. I am running the latest firmware with no root issues.
I totally forgot to mention that it was supposed to be the progress bar screen that's black with the HTC logo in the middle.
I'll be back with a getvar later on probably.

fastboot oem rebootRUU

Where, relative to these commands is the error happening?

I have noticed the latest RUU's will not run properly (M7 and M8) if the hboot does not match. The latest hboot for the M7 is 1.57.
You may have to flash the latest Full Firmware to update your hboot then run the RUU.

I attempt to run the RUU straight from my desktop.
What happens is the phone does it's initial restart into RUU mode in the bootloader, then the very next screen is the HTC logo on a black screen, which is seemingly supposed to have a progress bar right under the logo. Right there is where the error is thrown.
The RUU program suggests I unplug the phone, which I do, and it's just the bootloader screen with only RUU the only highlightable option. From there, I have to hard reset the phone and I'm back to the start, which is my phone as usual, so it doesn't seem like it ever gets to copy a file or format anything.

So what's the exact error message? And no, the progress bar only appears after you issue the flash command.
Also, what OS are you using?

What's the latest full one? I'll grab that and give it a shot.
The only reason I'm trying to update now is because I have this issue that seems to kill my battery within 3-4 hours, and I can't figure out why. I thought I'd give a full update a try to see whether it's my phone or something in my setup doing it.
Stock 3.05.651.6, but when I did it I had to start with the very first fw the phone had and take each ota til I was where I am now. That was a long time ago, and this issue only started a week or two ago at most.
Any potential ideas in that realm would be super appreciated.

I probably should've mentioned this in the first post, but that's the RUU I'm trying to use.
I meant to ask which was the first one with the updated bootloader.
@BD619 should he try to flash each partition individually via fastboot?

Hello,
Today I've been trying to unlock and root my HTC one M7. I was able to unlock the phone, but as I imported the SuperSU file the phone stopped working; I am now able to only load the white power screen, and a black screen is shown after that. I'd appreciate any help, thank you!

You most likely have used an outdated version of supersu. 2.46 is the version you want to use on lollipop (assuming you are on lollipop). Reflash your custom recovery and try to flash Su 2.46 and see if your phone can boot, otherwise you'll have to reflash your rom.

I've just unbricked the phone, thanks for all your help!
But one question, I've used the stock m7 ROM, am I able to update from that, or do I need to use a different ROM to get the most recent version of HTC Sense?

Your firmware is 7.23.502.1 but you have flashed an old 4.18.502.7 rom. Use the 7.23.502.1 RUU so your firmware and software version match together. Since its an at&t phone, you also need and at&t sim card to receive ota updates.

Yes, if S-ON, bootloader must be locked or re-locked to flash a RUU.
Thanks! And I just flash the unlock code when finished?
