Guys, I have 901E and on android 4.4 with sense 5.5, my device is rooted, bootloader unlocked and S-ON, I am trying to update to Sense 6, as I received an OTA update, as I did before, I returned back to stock ROM that available in this article (DLXPUL_TW_1.21.709.3.zip), then downloading the OTA directly from device, but currently when the update finish, device keeps going on boot loop, (starting device>>>hTC logo appear>>>then restart again), I need to flash boot image from the OTA file in order to bypass this issue......
please advise
EDIT: when updating from 4.2.2 to 4.3 (stuck on boot loop, need to flash boot.img)
when updating from 4.3 to 4.4.2 w/sense 5.5 stuck on the white screen with htc logo and beats audio
I made the same procedure before when I got 4.4.2 update with Sense 5.5 as I was also rooted on 4.3, please help, I might forget some steps....
Guys please advise......

Well, I, for one, can't help you because from your first post it is not clear at all what you did and what went wrong. Or what exactly you need from us. If you need the firmware image to flash, then just download the OTA package linked elsewhere in this forum, and extract the firmware from there. If you need more help, be more clear.

koniiiik thanks for your reply, let try to make it more clear....
- what I want: want to update my current version of Android.
- what I had before: Android 4.4.2 with Sense 5.5 and want to update to 4.4.2 with Sense 6 (as I received a notification to update).
- what modification I had: bootloader unlocked with htcdev, device is rooted, S-ON and TWRP installed.
- what I did: I flashed the stock ROM for my device (Android 4.2.2) in order to remove root and return to stock recovery and a complete stock ROM.
- why I did the last step: in order to get the OTA directly from device one by one (from 4.2.2 w/sense5 then 4.3 w/sense5.5 then 4.4.2 w/sense 5.5 and finally to 4.4.2 w/sense6).
- what I got: after flashing the stock ROM (Android 4.2.2 w/sense5) through TWRP, device works fine.
- then after downloading the OTA (4.3 w/sense 5.5) device stuck on bootloop
- what I did to bypass this issue: flashing boot.img from the OTA file.
- what I did next: downloaded the OTA (4.4.2 w/sense5.5) directly from the device, and install it.
- what I got: stuck on the white screen with htc logo (please not colors are not correct on the htc logo)
- what I did: tried to flash the boot.img from the OTA file, but this cannot help (just the colors are fine now)
- what is my question: why I need to flash boot.img as mentioned above? and how to get the 4.4.2 with sense 5.5 work (please be informed that I did the same steps to update to android 4.4.2 with sense 5.5 and everything works fine without any issues and no need to flash the boot.img as I mentioned before)

How did you install the OTA updates? Did you flash the stock recovery first, or were you trying to do that with TWRP? Did you try to download and install OTA updates by hand or did you let the phone itself download and install them? What are the precise version numbers involved? I'm not just interested in numbers such as 4.2.2, 4.3 or 4.4, but the full version string of the ROM, in each step. It sounds to me like you're trying to mix different branches of the system.

my friend I am not trying to mix anything, I just flashed ROM version 1.21.709.3 as mentioned above which it is available in the butterfly s General section through TWRP as mentioned also in the instructions in order to return back to stock, means stock ROM and recovery, then leaving the phone to download and install updates by itself

In that case I don't know. You might try to use the latest stock recovery, when installing the 3.06.708.3 update on my phone I found that I had to use the recovery from that update; using anything older just failed.

Hi,
I am trying to update my phone to an OTA update from HTC that will bring my phone up to Android 4.3 and Sense 5. When I try to install it, my phone boots into Twerp v.2.6.0.1. I go to Install - Download Folder and click on the OTA file and then Swipe to Flash. It Fails and the last line above Failed is Updating Partition Table. Can someone help me?
Also, I noticed I wasn't running the latest version of Twerp. I was goin to download it but I can't recall whether I have the International version or AT&T version of the phone. Is there a quick way for me to figure that out? (if i need the updated Twerp).
Thanks.
John
Are you trying to do the OTA from within the OS or flashing a zip? If you try to do OTA from within the OS, it'll boot to TWERP because you're not supposed to do OTAs with a custom recovery. If you're trying to flash a zip though, it should work fine.
As far as I know, TWERP is the same for the international version and the AT&T version (only Sprint is different), anyway you can get all your essential info using this:
reboot to bootloader, then into fastboot
fastboot getvar all
Should give you all the information. Hope this helps!
So I've been sitting on 4.1.2 and 1.29 Software for a while because I didn't wanted to tamper with my root. Recently decided to update, but I want to install the Custom Rom from Hawknest:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2496069
My main question is do I need to update to 4.3(Or 4.4?) before flashing in Ecliptic on TWRP or can I skip that part and simply flash in the Rom?
If I have to update, how do I update manually? Updating over the air sends me to TWRP after installing and I'm guessing this is because installing from OTA will get me unrooted. Finally, how do I know which is the correct ROM for me, he has KitKat and JellyBean as downloadables so I am uncertain. I'm guessing JellyBean, but I would like to get KitKat if possible.
My phone has:
Software 1.29.651.10
Firmware 4.1.2
HTCSense 5.0
I'm S-On on TWRP 2.6
Well what i did yesterday was go to Ecliptic kitkat from 4.1.2 just did bootloader and s_off rooted and install rexovery in rexovery did 3 full wipes (just in case) flash kitkat then the lastest modem for our sprint one niw im good and rolling

all the questions you have can be answered with bd19 frequently asked in q&a its very resourceful! also make sure you understand the file structure change after 4.1 or can have storage issues, also in q&a. imo getting s-off before doing anything would be a good starting point. good luck!
If I'm not mistaken you're also going to need to update your touch firmware as well

Hi everybody.
my HTC one has Viper 5.8 running with S-ON and i like it that way.
I never updated the Firmware since i moved from the 4.2.2 stock rom. (i have nandroid backup of the stock rom)
I am a bit scared doing S-OFF "just" to update firmware, hboot and radio, I know it should be easy to do, but i just don't want to.
So i thought that maybe i can flash back to the stock rom, then make the offical HTC update to 4.3 sense 6 (should also flash newest firmware right?) and then unlock the bootloader again, flash twrp and custom rom again.
Would that work? Is there something i have to pay attention to?
thx for any help!!!!

Since you don't want S-Off, that is your best option. I would follow closely @Mike1986 [GUIDE] Complete Flashing Guide | Rooting | Going Back To Stock it is for those who are S-On.
Thanks, I will follow the guide.
But I have one more question:
Can I do the official HTC update from the htc stock rom while I still have custom recovery and bootloader unlocked?
Can't find any any info if there is any risk involved not changing back first to stock recovery and bootloader relocked before doing the update.
I guess recovery will be overwritten by the official update?!?
You need stock recovery and locked bootloader to take updates

you don't need a locked bootloader to get an official ota update, however, you do need to flash a stock recovery !!.
I went through the ota update method to update my firmware as for some reason my htc one wouldn't s-off and I felt that it wasn't running as it should on custom roms with the old firmware.
I started off with a flashable zip -4.06.1540.2,developer edition then ota updates, always doing a nand backup of rom.
always pull the stock recovery image from the ota before updating...
i'm now running 5.11.1540.9 firmware and all custom roms are running good...
if you google 4.06.1540.2 dev edition flashable zip you should find it,if not,i can upload it too somewhere for you...
an official htc ota update changes your firmware and installs a stock recovery..
its a bit long winded this way, but,it was the only way for me !!

First thank you for sharing your experience.
When you say "zip -4.06.1540.2,developer edition" then you mean the rom, correct?
Why would you pull the stock recovery from the OTA before updating? What would be the consequence of leaving it in?
...
so i would download the odexed stock rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48111304
and afterwards flash the according recovery.img, correct?
i guess it is no problem that my phone (and their for the bootloader) was not a developer edition

yeah,it's a full flashable rom, that can be installed by custom recovery, when I say pull the stock recovery,i mean copy it to a folder on your pc,always best to have the matching recovery for your stock rom.
Hi guys,
need your help.
2 days ago my phone (HTC One M7_UL) said there is a great update for me - new Sence 6.0 and etc. (about 700 - 800 MB total). I agreed to update it, but, probably battery wasn't charge so I get a phone with just a black screen.
After two days of tryings to recover it I did it - I download from this forum a ROM and successfully wrote it on device.
Sence 6.0 is looking great, but my question is:
previously there was an option 'Check for software updates', but now I can't see it in 'Settings-About'. Did I do smth wrong? Cause now I have my phone as 'Unlocked, Tampered' with S-on. Will I be able to get OTA updates?
Please, help me, it's my first android smartphone, I will be appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

Did you install the odex version? On mine, in the Settings -> About at the top it states Software updates! The odex version is pure stock and will be able to receive the OTA providing you have the stock recovery and boot.img installed. The de-odex version is not able to receive OTA updates and I am guessing it doesn't have Software updates on it's menu. If you installed the wrong one just download and install the odex version.

Hi, thank for reply
Yes, I installed odex version. I am not interested in custom ROMs, just want to restore my phone to it's stock version, so that I could load OTAs.
My phone is unlocked, s-on, tampered (after I was trying to return it to life)
When I go About -> Software Information - only I can see :
1) Android version (4.4.2)
2) HTC Sence version (6.0)
3) Software number (Android Revolution HD71.1 by mike 1986)
4) HTC SDK API level (6.20)
And button 'More'
But now button 'Check for updates'
Also, I tried to install from htc1guru Reset ROM. Installed it. I had Sence 5.5 and Android 4.3. There I had 'Check for updates' button - but after pressing it - it said there are no updates.
What should I do to be able to get OTAs?
Thanks a lot

It looks like you still have ARHD71.1 on your phone. Go to this site and follow Method #1. Flash 4.19.401.11 version and select stock radio and recovery in aroma. After you have the stock recovery and rom back on your phone your last step will be to relock your bootloader with the command: fastboot oem lock Then you should be able to receive the Sense 6 OTA.

Try this method.
I'd rather try THIS method, think it is easier because you do not have to re-root phone after flash ruu.zip. Yesterday I successfully revert back to 100% stock with that method.

if you are following my RUU.EXE or RUU.ZIP method, then you need to 1st remove tampered and set locked.
why? because once you flash the ruu.zip, it will overwrite custom recovery (needed for the adb commands / bootloader reset tool) with the stock recovery, which doesn't allow adb commands or bootloader reset tool.
after a successful ruu flash, everything will be 100% stock.
to double check, bootup once to make sure the phone is booting OK, and everything was wiped,
but, if you intend on going S-ON do not take OTAs, go back to bootloader and S-ON (as always, I do not recommend it)

I have my Sprint HTC One m8 and I'd like to update to ViperOne ROM 3.1.0
I was using ViperOne 1.8.0, but to install the new version I need to get things back to stock so I can get all the OTA's up to the most recent update, and then flash the new ViperOne.
I've gotten this far and now I'm stuck...
Flashed Sprint_HTC_One_M8_1.54.651.8_RUU and now it boots into the stock no problem. Flashed the stock recovery here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2736048 . When I start the phone it recognizes there is an update, but when it tries to install it, the process quits about a quarter of the way through, it gives off the red ! with triangle, then eventually reboots back into android. I feel like I'm missing a step here somewhere, not sure why the stock recovery doesnt work. I can flash back and forth from the stock recovery and twrp, and twrp works. I have access to fastboot if needed.
General specs of the phone as I believe they still are...
S-Off (htc unlock)
Rooted
1.54.651.8 Stock rom
hboot 3.16.00 (i flashed some mod a long time ago to hide the red development message you'd get)
Anything else you need?

If you're S-off, no.
You might want to take a look at the thread in the link below. It pretty much covers what you have to do to take the OTA. Since you're S-off, why not install the firmware for the latest update and then flash a ROM based off the latest update? Much simpler than having to go through all the steps you're going through.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2888993
yeah, i was trying to update via methods that were a couple weeks old, which of course are old.... lol
I installed the latest ROM from sprint, then install ViperOne on top of it, going through the install right now. Wifi is working so I guess the firmware updated correctly.
Thanks
