I have been using my lumia 520 on a daily basis, but now i have moved to the US. I used whatsapp a lot and when i changed countries i changed my phone and number as well. I have now bought a Samsung Galaxy S5 with a local US number.
I was using the lumia without a sim card for my whatsapp for being in touch with old contacts. Somehow my whatsapp on the lumia has now been disabled as it says it cannot authenticate. I dont have access to my old number as i terminated it before leaving the country. If i activate it on the new number it will delete all previous data. I have images in whatsapp that i need and they are stored in the isolated storage area. I have dev unlocked the phone but i cant access that part of the internal memory.
As the lumias are not interop-unlocked i cant run any file explorer tools. Is there any way to extract the information from the phone or make a dump of the rom and then mount it in desktop and view the contents?
Any suggestion would be immensely helpful
Thank You

You can not dump the rom for to retrieve some data.
Maybe WebServer can help you, who knows.
i tried webserver but it only lets me browse the registry or webserver's own isolated storage area. I get a error 5 (Access denied) if i try to open any other app.

So, you can not, because there is no other solution to my knowledge (maybe JTAG?).
Sorry, but you have to reactivate your whatsapp account with your old number.
If that is lost, than there is no way to retreve your data witch is stored in the isolated area.
A different ( or new) acount on the same unit doesnt help, because it wil overwrite the older files.
I know, its not the answer your hoping to hear.
If you don't mind ripping your Lumia apart, you can try to JTAG it off. There are instructions elsewhere on the forum for that.

If you get an incoming call while online via Togga (with Sprint, if it matters), will the call always and invariably go to voicemail, or will it sometimes/always ask whether you want to terminate the data connection and take the call (the way WM6/6.1 does)?
Likewise, if you get a text message while running Android, is that message going to be forever unknown to Windows Mobile? Or is there a window of time where the message is retained on Sprint's server, and if you boot WM during that window it will see the message and fetch a copy for itself?

You're using the most recent files from DZO's site? What version radio firmware is your phone using?

Android knows when you are in a voice call and suspends the data connection. Also, I've never had an issue receiving a phone call when connected to the ppp internet connection. It's pretty seamless, at least for me on my touch.
You're text messages get routed to whatever OS it is running. If my phone dies, I plug it in start up winmo and it i will receive all the text messages and store them in its own database. Once I boot android it will receive any messages the radio receives and store them in its database. So text messages will never go across OS'es ever as they are considered received after any one OS receives it. Hope that helps.
Alltel
Anyone know of the Alltel Username and Password?? Thanks
Hello,
what,s that mean:"wizard login:" it appered when I was installing Android
and then it just stop there.Could anybody tell me what elements I need ?
Or give me a full pack Please!!!!!!!Thank you !!!!!!!!
Sorry for my poor English
Landon I also have Alltel use (your number)@alltelmobile and leave the password blank. ext I have been using the latest files from dzo I probably had the togga connected at the time when i was getting texts, but it never seemed to happen on ealier builds when connected via PIE. Also as some suggested it is not carrier specific this happens on GSM AT&T and CDMA Sprint and probably my own Alltel.
Battery
I asked this in the other forum but I'm asking again.
Is it ok to leave the phone on the charger overnight while running android.

htc tech support said it's probably not a good idea because the charger circuit is software controlled.
So does anyone leave their phone overnight and what results have you seen.

Authentication for Sprint
Just loaded this onto my Sprint Touch and it works great (after fooling with a bad SD card). My only other stumbling block was getting logged into the data network. Turns out that I couldn't leave the username null -- in default.txt I had to specify
set cmdline "[email protected]"
Replace "3525551212" with your cell phone# (starting w/ area code). I'm in the US.

I am trying to install two apk's, IOfilemanager and VideoPlayer.apk...
I put both file in the root of my SD card in a file named AndroidApps
I have the latest vogue-android release, and my sound works so I know I dont have a problem with my radio
I tried putting the file both in the root of sd card, and the phone's memory, but it keeps on showing the glowing android, doing around 3 blinks then restarting, and its a never ending cycle...
I do not have a data connection so I cannot download it via browser...
EDIT: I replaced the files and it worked, mightve been corrupted...

what do you mean by work because if you mean that there are no contacts when you boot Android then that is normal because android has no access to the phones memory only the SD Card you can use a few different programs to tranver the contact from WM to Android the best is Funambol.com it has a an app for both wm and Android to sync them via its website and its very easy to use just check out this link for a how to http://www.myhtcphone.com/import-contacts
There's a couple of things I'm still trying to figure out about this whole android thing. My apologies if these questions have already been asked, I could not find them.
1) Why doesn't the "Edit Sync Groups" button do anything? All my contacts are in gmail so I'd like to sync there. I'd also like to sync my google calendar.
2) The screen calibration is a bit off -- how do I re-calibrate?
3) I thought Android had an online app store (think it was called the "Marketplace") --- is this available on the vogue or no? What is the best way to install apps if no.
I apologize in advanced for what are probably ignorant questions.
Thanks!

1) this is more of an issues with Google because the Vogue is a port and Google has not opened all parts of the Android OS, or at least that is how i understand it if i am wrong someone please give a more information
2) The screen calibration is kind of a work in progress but there is a way to Calibrate

Screen calibration should work again, press the cam button to display the onscreen kbd, then while pressing the end call button tap opposite corners of the screen.

3) Marketplace is not available for the Vogue port because it is a closed system the best way to get apps is to down load the apk to you desktop and move them onto the phone through wm for more info check out this link

Thanks so much for answering those questions. Definitely helps me out. Its really unfortunate that the google syncing doesn't work... all my data is on there :[
At the present time, if I'm booted into Android, and the files needed to boot Android are on the storage card, is there any good way to get an .apk file built by Netbeans (using Undroid) onto my Vogue to test/play with WITHOUT booting back into WM6.1 first? As far as I can tell, Bluetooth isn't implemented, nor is mounting Android's filesystems as USB drives on a tethered PC... and I'm taking for granted that everything will go down in flames if I remove the storage card with Android running ;-)
If I did something slightly Rube-Goldberg-esque, like run a FTP server on my desktop PC with my router redirecting the port to it, then launched a FTP client on the phone to connect to it over the internet and download the .apk file into the "Android Programs" directory on the storage card... would it do any good? Or do .apk files in the folder ONLY autodeploy if they're physically present in that folder when Android itself boots up from WM6.1?
Similarly, if I boot with a .apk file in the directory, launch it and play with it, reboot into WM6.1, rebuild the .apk file, copy it to the storage card's Android Programs subdirectory, relaunch Android, and try IT... then repeat a few dozen or hundred times over the span of a few weeks... will each new version leave crud and residue in Android's equivalent of the registry (assuming it HAS one)? Or will everything related to the previous .apk file be cleanly purged? God forbid, does Android not actually deploy apps AT ALL, and just run them "where they lie" directly from their .apk file?
So far, I'm on chapter 6 of the "Busy Coder's Guide to Android Programming" (v2.0), but I haven't been brave enough yet to try running anything on my real phone since at this point I still have no real idea what's happening "behind the scenes" when Android (or DZO's bootloader?) finds .apk files in the directory on the storage card.

I think its possible in a very awkward way. The Transfer my data app has special privileges, so it can write SMS to your phone. The problem is, that it can only import from Lumias and Symbian phones.
Now you you make an app for PC/iOS/Android, that fakes this protocol you are set. The problem is to decode this protocol, as I see there are 2 choices:
- Mess with the Symbian emulator. Ive downloaded it, but its kinda hard to get it to use the bluetooth of my laptop. if I manage to do this, I need to sniff the traffic to figure out the protocol.
- Download the Symbian source code and find the part which sends this data. Im now about to try this method, ill post an update if I find anything. If someone i a Symbian+bluetooth expert could help would be great, but I doubt such people are common.
Guys...all you have to do is keep the back up option turned on. Everything else from there is MS's problem. I recently hard reset my wife's 720. All the messages, every single one, comes back the moment you sign in with the SAME ID you have taken a back up with.
Uh, GH0ST, I think you missed an important point... this is from *ANDROID* to WP*, not from WP* to WP8.
@syddd: I'm sure it is, indeed, possible to transfer the messages to the app from an Android phone, but I don't know the wire format. You might get lucky if you search and find an app on the Android side that is compatible with Transfer My Data, though.
Hello,
I'm just starting my dev journey with WP8 with my new T-Mobile Lumia 520.
First what I need to do is to debrand my lumia - for faster updates. T-Mobile is not offering yet the next release of fw which allows to disable images in IE, and as dev I need to be up-to-date as fast as possible. I need to download the FW, but I don't know which one - localized for sure, but what GDR is? What Amber means? I can't decide which one do I need to download and flash. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2515453 This instruction doesn't show the moment of decision).
Next question is about unlocking. I'm downloading music from Soundcloud via Cloudoh and I want to access them from my PC, same as files located inside of other apps - do I need to unlock the device to do that? For example - how to upload a pdf from PC to winpho pdf reader?
Windows Store allows me to download installable files at PC and install them via SD Card. Some apps aren't supposed to work with my device. Is there any solution how to install them at my risk?
And the last question, but not least - I have my dev account but its time limited and app-count-limited. Is there any way how to check if my Lumia is dev-unlocked, how long this unlock lasts and what is my current app-limit? Just for my information - I like to have the ways to check everything.
Please, help me
GDR = General Distribution Release (a brief web search would have told you this). Microsoft-ese for a post-initial-release update (think of service packs for other MS software). The current version is GDR3, also called Update 3. "Amber" is Nokia's codename for the firmware version that they ship along with GDR2. "Black" is Nokia's firmware name for GDR3. Note that OEM firmware (such as Amber or Black) are different from Microsoft OS updates (such as GDR2 or Update 3), although they are typically delivered together. If you're already on at least GDR2, you can get Update 3 directly from Microsoft without waiting for T-Mobile or Nokia; search the Store for "Preview for Developers".
You cannot access files stored inside an app from anywhere else, either a PC or another app, unless the app explicitly makes them available by including a method to export them. Most apps don't implement this. The only exceptions to this rule are for images (which can be stored in the Pictures Library of the phone, much like the built-in camera app or screenshot functions) and OEM apps, which can have extra permissions (Capabilities, such as ID_CAP_PUBLIC_FOLDER_FULL) that aren't allowed for third-party developers. However, for development apps (that is, ones which were sideloaded to your phone from an unsigned XAP file), you can access their Isolated Storage from your PC using the aptly-named Isolated Storage Explorer Tool (or any other program that implements the required APIs, such as Windows Phone Power Tools).
To upload a PDF to the phone, you can do any number of things. Over USB, copy it to the Documents folder on the phone using any MTP software (Windows Explorer works). Over Bluetooth, just send the file directly. Over email, just attach the PDF. Over the Internet, you can use SkyDrive, or any other "cloud" app, or if it's on a web server you can get it from the phone's browser...
I'm not aware of any work-around for the minimum-memory restriction on some apps. I believe it mostly only applies to large games? In any case, you have one of the lowest-end WP8 devices on the market; there are limits which come with that.
The official way to tell if your phone is dev-unlocked is to use the Windows Phone Developer Registration tool, the same one you use to do the dev-unlock in the first place. A paid developer account always gives a limit of 10 apps (the free one is 2 apps). There's no official way to tell how many apps you have remaining, but it's simple enough to tell if you have any space left; just try sideloading any app that isn't already installed!

After unlock it is still unaccessible? I had to jailbreak my iPad because without jb it is not easy to operate. I thought about something like this for Lumia. I think it is only the need of time for others to omit this problem
Disney offered lastly a promotion for its games. I was interested with some of them, but only one was accessible for my device. xap file needed only 70 mb of space. I think there was a problem with performance, but if I want see a laggy game I should have the ability to install it despite everything.
There's no jailbreak available for Lumia phones yet. Something like that should, indeed, allow accessing the storage of the apps (and everything else) but we don't have one...
The size of the XAP has very little to do with the runtime requirements of the app (RAM and CPU). I have written apps of only a few kilobytes that required over 10 gigs of RAM to run (not a phone app, obviously). To avoid people with low-end phones getting annoying with the platform and thinking it's the fault of either Microsoft or the app developer when an app crashes from running out of RAM, they've prohibited installing high-RAM apps on low-RAM devices.
You mean T-Mobile's Lumia 521 right? There's no other ROM you can flash to it that might have the update.
Hi, everyone,
This is my first post, I got a situation I think I need to do capability unlock to solve it, because I want my data back!
My phone is Lumia 920, I saw this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...ve-interop-t3135326/post62301716#post62301716
This is amazing, and you guys on this community are awesome! I just want to post a reply to the authors, their work is great, although I need to wait for them to publish this tool for Lumia 920.
But I am a new member here, so I need to post at least 10 posts to leave a message on developer's forum.
The whole story is, I am using an app named Line (a messenger app just like What's app). In Taiwan, almost all people use it to send messages.
I also have a lot of messages sent via this app between me and my girlfriend and best friends. Unfortunately, this app on Windows Phone is terrible.
After one day, this app can not open anymore, because it will crash when it want to sync messages.
This is fine, because I can use computer version to talk with others.
But one day, Line forces me to valid a Pin Code on my computer, this requires me to open Line on my Lumia 920 to input that code to login to the computer.
This suck app even doesn't allow me to install on another device, or my Lumia 920's original account will be disabled.
The only way to solve seems to uninstall Line, then reinstall it. I can't do this because all my sent messages are very very important to me I don't want to delete it.
Line don't have backup function on Windows Phone, so I can't do this before, there is no way to get back my messages except my phone app data.
So this is why I need a way to let me access to app data on my phone, I am a developer also, I am not sure I can get back my messages but I can try it (on Android, Line's message looks like stored on a sqlite3 file).
The first thing I need to do is get these app data then I can try to get back my messages from it.
Anyone have other ideas to help me to solve this? Thank you a lot.
PS. I am tried to use Line's python library but I need to enter Pin Code also, and I am not sure Line stored my messages on cloud.
The other way I am trying is to get Windows Phone backup data from my onedrive, but it seems not possible.
Or I should try to hack my Line application on my computer to skip Pin Code validation? It might be a lot of work and still not feasible.
I found the desktop version's sqlite on AppData\Local\Line, unfortunately there is no full message history, only messages since April (the most valuable messages I want are on last year), and all the messages are encrypted. For the message 12345, is encrypted to:
CfxjtmuAXScEBn/Virf+6A==
If I decode it with base64 I still can't get back my message, I think it is encrypted by AES or something but I don't know where is the key.
On my another computer, the message 12345 is encrypted to:
iBIkUWFOfTBkBOg2YffCtA==

Hi Folks - My Dad has a seriously ill and has been given conflicting and potentially negligent advice regarding his cancer treatment which my mum had recorded on her phone. All of these meetings we saved on her Windows 8.1 phone (Nokia Lumia 635) running Lumia Denim. Today the app corrupted and I am unable to access any of those files are they are stored locally in the app itself rather than being saved anywhere useful on the phone. Is there any way of access the windows OS and App files contained within that SD card in the hope I can extract and save the files to a USB thumb drive or more reliable medium.
I really appreciate any help any one can give.
Many thanks,
Nova

Bump - Anything anyone can do to help?
@Novastrike, first, you have chosen an incorrect forum for your request - it's definitely not an "Apps and games" (probably, better to ask in "Development and hacking").
Second, you've provided close to zero information: what app, what data?
It's possible to get access to the app's isolated storage on "interop-unlocked" handset with "full FS access" enabled but the data availability depends from many factors (like what if data encoded somehow etc.).

@sensboston, Thank you for responding and apologies for posting in the wrong forum, I am not the most tech savvy person. In the world nor am I familiar with windows phone all that much.
The app is called voice recorder pro and is made by a Polish developer whose name escapes me. Is it easier to try and figure out whether the data is encoded or research how to interloper-unlock the handset. I have rooted android phones before so hope it requires a similar or lesser skill level.
Again thanks for responding!
@Novastrike, check this forum, hope, you'll find all you need for interop unlock and full fs access (you may also use my WPTweaker app from signature).
BTW, don't forget about pre-requisites: installed SDK/tools.
After successful unlocking and enabling full FS access, just plug your phone to PC and navigate to the apps isolated storages (I forgot exact location for WP8; on W10M it's located at c:/data/Users/DefApps/APPDATA/[APP_GUID], find your app (by browsing all subfolders named like "{1E51D223-2D05-4C25-907F-35E40DB416A5}" and copy recorded calls to PC.
