[Q] Try to flash CWM recovery ***FIXED*** - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi and thanks for reading. I have searched for the solution but found no definitive answer.
I am used to flashing Samsung mobiles and a few others and have used the toolkits to get the custom recoveries installed.
In this case i simply cannot get a reliable CWM installed on my unlocked bootloader version of this RAZR i.
The bootloader screen mentions a maximum size of "100mb" but the recovery imgs i use are well under this, i am also using the Fastboot method to get the recovery installed but always receive this error and am now at a dead-end in regards to flashing this phone.
---
Incidentally flashing an original ROM through RSD-Lite also failed at a certain stage of the process but didn't cause any issue actually booting into the phone itself.
Thanks in advance for any assistance! :good:

[Q] Error: Unable to load "recovery_for_1.28"

hello guys, i really need help with this last few steps of rooting my phone.
from here,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625841
in step 4. flash recovery downloaded aboved by using this command: fastboot flash recovery recovery_for_1.28
i get the error message as per the title
now before i tried to flash the recovery 1.28, i flashed another recovery from o' brian's. would this cause any problems that would lead to the error message above? i assumed that flashing a new recovery would just overwrite the old one.
when i flashed the recovery from o'brian's, it says waiting for device or something similar to that. then i proceeded to go into recovery as instructed. however, my phone simply turns off. when i have to turn it back on manually, nothing changed.
can any kind soul please enlighten me?

Note what kind of hboot do you have, check your bootloader, if you have Hboot 1.25 then the functional and recommended Recovery for you is by Paul O'Brien, if you are on Hboot 1.28 then the recommended one is bue unlimited.io, if you are lazy to search for them, you have them included in this tool, i really can't understand why people doesn't use this, as it is free and keeps you away from lots of searching, many threads are old, many procedures are old so the guide recommended by me for everything is the guide by stona15, this one
Hope this helps

[Q] In Need Of Some Instruction Please...

Hi I am somewhat familiar with Android and flashing custom Roms. Right now my HTC Vivid has an unlocked bootloader and S-On. I was running Virtuous Inquisition and attempted to install the Stock rooted ROM via CWM. Midway installation the phone went to a HTC screen. Now I can get into the fastboot menu but if I choose recovery it goes into CWM for a split second and returns to the HTC screen where it hangs. I do have a backup through CWM. I tried re-flashing CWM Recovery via fastboot but it still goes straight to the HTC screen. I also tried to flash the boot.img via fastboot(shot in the dark) from my backup but that did not allow me to get into recovery either.
Can anyone help me get into recovery or any other solution?
Thank you for reading!
-Matt
Yes
Well good news. It was solved by using the "fastboot erase cache" command. As I was creating the original thread I thought to myself everyone is gonna ask did you try searching? Well sure enough once I searched I found the solution. I have much love for the XDA community and I have met people on the streets multiple times who are members!
Thanks Again!

[Q] PLEASE POST full STOCK HTC ONE ROM exe for AT&T new kitkat Vers: 4.18.502.7

ISSUE RESOLVED: keeping post since active since I still need the rom exe. But boot looping fixed.
My AT&T HTC One is stuck in boot loop, probably to do with the KK OTA update. I have looked everywhere, read posts all night, and tried all of the various reboots and reflashings of recovery files and firmware, erased caches, locked and unlocked bootloaders. Can anyone post the executable RUU for the stock ROM KK version 4.18.502.7? I'd really appreciate it. I can't sideload a zip (it stalls). I'm aware of the other post asking for the same thing and the response in it with a link to the file, but that link actually is only to a recovery zip with darkbootloader, which seems also to require S-OFF, even if I did have some way to sideload it.
The firmware updated before it began looping, so I can't just reinstall a prior stock ROM exe file, as far as I can tell. I tried anyway!
I hesitate to install the .1540. Dev. Ed. version of the ROM that's available because it says in the notes that it's "compatible" with my cid and PN, etc, but I think they mean for recovery file purposes and not for a full ROM install. So I think I just need the ROM exe, if anyone has it? Thanks!
more info
by the way, when it crashed i had installed the ota update and then restarted play around with it, then rebooted in bootloader and unlocked, reinstalled twrp and AndRev HD 51. I've noticed two problems there. The first is that the Xposed module's latest update totally defeats my internet wifi and especially crashes vpn sevice. prior versions did not and I could not down-install to prior version (is preinstalled in HD 51). The other problem is that in looking around for this boot loop probably, turns out that TWRP apparently doesn't get along well with the encryption. don't know why. this stuff may or may not be part of the problem, but at this point i have no OS, an erased cache and can't even get into recovery (tried flashing twrp, older twrps and CWM. thanks.
You are screwed if you have no recovery, and the phone is s-on. You need to find a way to get in recovery. Alternatively try to flash the firmware only from OTA to get stock recovery.

This RUU does not exist yet, only the FOTA version - I've been in talks with HTC about this very thing. They do not have an ETA for the RUU, unfortunately.

Hm. I did flash the firmware from an OTA. But couldn't actually boot into recovery after that. I can flash custom recoveries but can sideload without the intall stalling about a third of the way through (just hangs, no error messages). Then after that if I restart it loops. I can maybe fix the "tampered" warning and swap it out somewhere. I think it's the encryption while using twrp maybe resulted in some hiccup. But I thought the firmware flash would fix that. And I'm not sure how you can actually tell whether the flashed firmware is successful. (it says it is in the command prompt, but the phone doesn't really do anything all that different and i already updated with the OTA so the numbers won't change).
Looking at the board today and reading through the posts I see many people reporting basically being in the same boot loop boat after the OTA update, though with diff versions maybe there's some FW problem. weird so many posts of similar boot looping.
Thanks for responding.
This issue is temporarily resolved, was able to push ARHD in TWRP (would not sideload without erroring out during install, but was able to push zip to sdcard and then install from there) after much wiping using both twrp and cwm. Did notice when using CWM recovery would not install ARHD off sdcard push, and would flag unknown files .... android..security during wipes, so i am guessing that encrypting a custom ROM at least with TWRP as recovery was a bad idea. hopefully this will stay stable until the KK OEM RUU EXE is available. Thanks for the help.

[Q] Serious Help Needed

Hi, I have tried being clever and rooting my HTC ONE Mini, which all went perfectly well. Unlocked Bootloader and installed TWRP.
I found a radio update on a website and tried installing it, with S-ON. As you can imagine I am not stuck in Bootloop.
I somehow managed to wipe all the data off my phone and sdcard too.
So I am stuck with a phone in bootloop with recovery from TWRP.
Everytime i try and fastboot flash any file even an Android ROM.zip it doesnt like it. I am novice at this so you are probably reading this and think what is he doing.
Can someone help me or guide me to getting my phone back and running again. Please??

You can't use fastboot to flash a rom.zip! It must be pushed to your phone (use either adb push or adb sideload from recovery) and installed from custom recovery.
Btw this is the wrong forum for your device. Htc one mini forum is here

[Q] Stuck sideloading

Hey guys,
Terribly sorry if this is a common question, but after two days of searching and being unable to use my phone, I decided to post instead.
I have previously succesfully installed Cyanogen on my HTC One, using CWM. After talking to some family and friends, I decided to try out ARHD instead, as it seemed more fitting to my needs.
I download the zip, flash it from CWM, but I constantly get the error "set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed" at end of installation. I am able to continue and install seems succesful, but I can never boot past the inital white screen HTC logo. I searched for info on this, and some reported it might be due to outdated recovery. However, I have tried with CWM 6.0.4.8 and I am currently running 6.0.4.6 Touch, but no luck with either version.
At one point, I also soft-bricked my phone. I were able to flash new recovery, but had to reset my SD card and I also lost all backups. Somehow the phone booted up in Cyanogen after this, and I were able to download a zip for ARHD 81. I tried flashing this, got "set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed" and I am now unable to boot my phone again.
I have tried pushing and sideloading, however neither seems to work. Since there's no progress bar for pushing, I had to be patient, but after two hours without result I have to assume it's not working. Sideloading always gets stuck at either 3% or 8%, I can't seem to find a cause for this.
I really hope you guys might be able to work out a fix for this issue with me, as I've reached a dead end.
Unlock
I have also unlocked the phone with HTCDev unlock tool, so that should be fine.

ARHD requires TWRP Recovery
download TWRP 2.6.3.3
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
then flash it
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
now your rom will install without error
Alright. I have tried installing TWRP, but I always came up with errors booting into TWRP. I got it working once, but at that point in time I didn't have the ROM zip on my phone... I'll try it out asap and get back. Thanks.
That did it. Honestly I feel a little silly at this point, but I wish it were mentioned in the main ARHD thread that you needed TWRP, since in the "You Need" section, it simply requires a custom recovery.
I'd never seen the fastboot erase cache command before, so that helped out a lot getting TWRP working
Thank you so much!
