Hello guys,
I have a problem with the nAa ICS Kernel.
I have the stock ROM on my X8 and i want to install the MiniCM9 so i need the nAa ICS Kernel.
I flashed the kernel but when I boot up my device it was stuck at the H3G logo and didn't want to go further. If i can't arrive to the homescreen I can't move the .zip to the SD (and I guess i won't reboot and enter into the CMW Recovery to flash the ROM).
How should I do?
Thank you!
UPDATE: It's the same thing if I try to flash the nAa Kernel (not the ICS Kernel but that which should be for Gingerbread ROMs).
Does the Sony logo show before or after the screen you're stuck at?

I'm stuck after the Sony Ericsson Logo (at the H3G logo).
If I had move files without booting my phone I would be done..
Um... did you unlock your bootloader?
Sent With My Brains To Yours. Makes Sense.
can you get to cwm? if yes, connect your phone to pc and mount it via cwm. your pc would be able to read your sdcard then so you cam move the zip file.

If the flashing was successful, then you shouldn't be seeing the Sony Ericsson logo; nAa ICS has its own animation.

Hi guys. Today I tried upgrading GingerDX from v030 to v031b but I mistakenly downloaded (and flashed) Alfs/nAa instead of Stock kernel.
Now the phone screen won't pass the Sony Ericsson boot scree... I can't find the key combinations to enter into CWM recovery menu. Is there any other way I can flash the proper ROM using Flashtool? I found this guide but I don't want to go back to the stock kernel (if possible).
Thank you!
You mean to. Say stock rom??
You are already on stock kernel...
& no other option you must follow that guide if you can't unlock bootloader!

Right, I already have the stock kernel, but I flashed Alfs/nAa ROM instead of the Stock one (from the download options) and now the phone won't pass the bootloader... Will try that guide since I can't enter CWM recovery using the key combinations I found

Where can I downloadCWM? I couldn't find it and that's why I used xrecovery

Will xtoolbox do the job?
It I'll be great if everything comes from one place instead of having to root using guide A, install CWM from guide B to end up using XDA's guide to install GDX. Just un idea, specially for noobs

Well, when I softbricked my X8, I never used my PC to unbrick it. I will just go into the recovery and flash a working rom. Problem solved..
But I can't figure out why he is sayig he can't go into the recovery. The button patterns remains the same no matter what rom you are on or what kernel you use. But I can be wrong.
Anyway did you do all these steps:
# Wipe Full System
# Wipe Cache, Dalvik-Cache
These steps are very important. But we often forget them.
Dude.....
Sometimes can't get into recovery while on stock kernel
Happened 3 times to me

Maybe the op is downloading gdx for custom kernel...

If he downloaded for custom kernel ...
he can't see the GDX logo
only 'Sony Ericsson'
Sent from my X8 using xda app-developers app
We dont see the sony ericsson logo on custom kernels..
it is seen only on stock kernel.
so there is a high possibility that op downloaded the wrong rom..

if you use rom for stock kernel you can see the GDX logo...that is part of boot animation. alfs shows WLAN version not GDX. the Sony Ericsson logo is of stock kernel. so if you flash a rom for custom kernel you will still see that logo
it is possible (as dagger said) that OP downloaded rom for custom kernel.

when i try to use the beta 6 it say "Cannot identify your device" and it ask me to input my model is I choose C660x and it make my phone ready to flash once I put it to flashmode. But no, once I put it to flashmode flashtool itself couldn't recognize my phone is in the state ready to flashing so it keep saying my phone need to put in to flashmode by press Vol.down while plug the USB.
so i downloaded an older version of flashtool , but do you think that trying an other firmware will fix this problem

Wipe data system cache dalvik, wipe cache and dalvik only, didn't wipe anything, I've tried everything, even flashed my original ftf, reroot, install xzdual recovery, re-flashed doomkernel, remove xzdualrecovery, and then flashed the rom with everything wiped, and nothing works.
try re-download the file.. from another mirror .. not from the same download site.

i was once using aosp carbon rom, older version, i think arround september, before that I used PA 3.6.5, did not satisfied with the sound output, so I'm back to stock rom .244 at that time, and then .67 came out, I tried to flashed but I got the same problem such this time, so I flashed an ftf of my original rom and somehow I could flash the deodexed & zipaligned .67 v1 by drummerjed (I have the nandroid backup of this), and then I tried RomAur v9.1, did not satisfied, Tried to clean flash .67 v2 by drummerjed and this problem is haunting me for at least 3 weeks now. so I restore my .67 backup...

Thats all? Then i can receive the updates form Sony again an can i use Sony pc companion?
What do i with the kernel?
Stock firmware will flash stock kernel.
If you have to backup you can also lock bootloader.
And yes, after that you can install anything from PCC

I have a question related to this topic.
I had Doomlord`s custom kernel v21 with root and unlocked bootloader.
Im trying to revert back to stock rom and kernel via flashtool and generic nordic rom.
Flashing goes alright but after flashing when i try update my phone either OTA or trough pc companion they both failed.
pc companion says that i have modified sony and i guess it same with OTA update.
Should i do something also, because i thought flashing with stock rom should revert all but bootoader back to original.
Thanks in advance.
You cannot use OTA or Pccompanion with an unlocked bootloader,
You should flash the latest version FTF using flashtool
