Hey y'all, so I no longer have the S4 Active (which is why the threads for previous patches have become deprecated), but thanks to the help of @zero061099 we were able to pull the required kernel modules. This patch provides a fix for hard keys, data, and wifi. @zero061099 tested the newest version (as of 6/21/14) of Hyperdrive for the S4 and he can confirm it is working, although you do have to manually enter AT&T's APN settings (see below). I still haven't been able to figure out the camera, but I'm hoping to do a bit of research in the near future.
Because I no longer have the device, the amount of support that I can provide is limited. That's where you come in! If a member with the I537 who is running a Linux distro on his/her PC, I am willing to write up a little script that will automatically generate a new i537-x.x.x-masterpatch.zip via ADB whenever a new update is released. I will be available to provide some guidance, but I don't check this sub-forum much any more. If you are interested in taking over the project or have some questions about it, please feel free to PM me or (preferably) message me on Hangouts.

Here is the link to v.2 of the patch (which includes a camera fix). You can also download just the camera patch. Like always, make sure that you wipe dalvik and cache.
Please note that you will still not be able to use the stock camera app, but we have reports of success with the Google Camera apk.
yup thanks alot man many people who still have the s4 active (atat) will appreciate this as well as the devolper of hyperdrive...thanks for all your help man!!

It's really more of a Samsung issue. Anybody who has a AT&T or Verizon branded Samsung phone released in the last year and a half has a locked bootloader (S4, S4 Active, S5, Note 3, etc.) So it's not that the S4 Active is unpopular, it's that nobody has figured out how to unlock the bootloader on any of these phones yet.

There are actually a ton of developers interested in unlocking the bootloaders, and I think the bounty is somewhere around $24,000 at this point. Samsung phones are the most popular android phones in the world so it's not a matter of the phones being unpopular. If you're talking specifically about the S4 Active, then yes it didn't sell like the others, however the thinking is that if someone can crack any of the bootloaders it should unlock every Samsung phone. At least that's the hope.

On Phoenix ROM no wifi
I was able to get Eclipse TW 4.02 SS ROM to boot and it looks very nice so far.. as close to AOSP as we will get. I started with the usual 4.3 > TR> SS 3.71 > NC9 Update >KK Kernel > SS3.73 upgrade path, then downloaded the newest eclipse 4.02 SS ROM and 4.4.2 i537 modules. I went ahead and inserted the modules into the eclipse ROM just to save an additional flash step, then flashed the new rom, wiped data, dalvik and cache then rebooted to download and flashed the KK i537 kernel on top. After a few minutes I'm at the setup screen.
So far the only issue I'm battling is the default camera FC, the Google camera app doesn't seem to work either

i have a s3 mini phone that has a very new model (g730a) that looks like nobody else on the internet has. there are no threads on this entire forum about this model number, and i am trying to downgrade the stock firmware, 4.2.2, to a very old firmware, 2.2 (froyo), is there any way of doing this? (this phone was bought from an at&t store) how do people even downgrade? where do they get their downloads from?
if there is "no way" of me doing this easily by downloading something, how can i do it myself?
really need some help with this, thanks!

why would you want to downgrade?
i just think froyo looks cool, and i see it still functions with the play store and that. i've heard of cyanogen mod or whatever it's called yet don't know what it is nor how to use it. i am brand new to this android world. was told that this site had everything
Device was not here when froyo was so you will never be able to downgrade. It came with jb, so that's what you will have.

Try the "one-click-root" that someone posted in general. It might work. Then you can take a look on what's inside, and maybe have a recovery built.

You CAN install any android version that is older that you want, but it isn't created for the device. So somebody would need to develop drivers for it to work on the particular version of android.
Short answer: No you can't do it
Long answer: It can be done but a skilled person would need to develop drivers to make it work.
In this day and age creating drivers to downgrade from 4.1 to 2.2 it's not worth the time it takes.

Requirements
A SCH-I705, Verizon Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
Unlocked bootloader

Flash in ODIN 3.04

As it appears the firmware has been signed with different keys, this will likely brick most tabs.

Remove notification by removing SDM.apk (if its still called that)

Hi, quick question - why would I need an unlocked bootloader to flash via ODIN?
Because this is a repackaged, unsigned ODIN package. It probably won't let you flash, and if it does, will probably brick you.
Unlock your bootloader or stay away from it.

+MrHyde03 .... I just bought the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0 7" yesterday from my local Verizon store and I've not found much about rooting THIS particular firmware model (VRBMI1) until now. I'm excited as hell to find this from you because I've almost given up on getting root ..... =/ The only thing I'm wondering about is that you said in the OP that this requires an unlocked bootloader.... since I bought this thing from verizon with vrbmi1, I obviously can't go backwards a firmware model in order to unlock the bootloader, so would you care to point me in the right direction , in terms of maybe a link to a good thread with instructions to unlock this thing and get this stock rooted vrbmi1 ROM on here?
Thank you soooo much!! =)
As far as I know, there is no known root method. I no longer have the tab myself so I will no longer be doing any work for it. As for unlocking, the previous method has been known to brick tabs. Basically, any version from VRBMI1 and forward will no longer be unlockable unless you get your hands on an insecure VRBMI1 bootloader.

OP is probably using the SPH-L720 unlocked on a GSM operator....if this is the case, of course he should have everything working. Has anyone been able to root the phone after the Verizon VS9803AA update? I have a G2 that was never rooted. The digitizer failed so I replaced it with an OEM LCD+Digitizer and suddenly the phone can only be used when there is bright light. I went ahead and replaced the light sensor, but it doesn't make a difference. I used an application to check the light sensor and it performs just as my G3. My thought is that the problem is software based.
If I manually reboot into recovery, I get the icon of the android with a red exclamation point. Plugging in the USB and holding the volume up does not bring me to download mode, it just displays the battery charge. Did Verizon successfully block the ability to root?
I'm having the same problem with not being able to root I've used IORoot which isn't compatible with lollipop, avicoh one click and . bat which get up to rebooting the phone but ends in an error reading "The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value."
so i read about Injecting root in to system image and then pushing image back to phone. But i haven't seen specifics for the LG G2 have you had any success in rooting the phone with the new VS9803AA Update
The phone as the VS9803AA update and I think it is the cause of the proximity sensor problem. I've read some other posts from people that had rooted and took the update. A different situation, but they have a similar problem. In one of those threads I had read about the bootloader version having changed. It is almost as if Verizon killed the ability to do a recovery on the phone. Nice huh?

Nice wouldnt be the adjective but if the bootloader is different is it possible to extract it and build a root with the new bootloader.
I am new to this however i'm a quick study and have rooted devices in the past ( manually ) I'm just not a developer so there has to be some one working on this right?
In the meantime is it possible to flash an older firmware I'm scared to try with out knowing for certain.
I too am trying to root the VS9803AA with IOroot and it says there is not yet an unlock for this version. I am very frustrated.
EDIT: I did discover how to root! I used the tool found here.
Now if I can figure out something to replace FreeGee, which does not work with AA...

I'm sure it was stock, because this is the first time I've ever tried to root and I did check the software version (VS9803AA) and it said, "Official." Now it says, "Modified."
My original goal in doing all of this was to open up the T-Mobile bands so I can have LTE again. Just left Verizon. But the youtube tutorial I was watching asks me to use FreeGee and it just is not compatible with 3AA as far as I can tell.
To root: webtrickz.com/how-to-root-lg-g2-running-lollipop-with-lg-one-click-root/
To flash TWRP: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=b007.autorecvs980
I haven't tried AutoRec yet, but a review says it works for the 3AA.
Hope this helps, let me know!

Hay there,
Use kingroot the easiest way to root lg g2 without any trouble, try it and let me know thanks
I'm in the same boat - got this Verizon LG G2 from my sister fixed the LCD screen because the digitizer had dead spots. Can't root tried every method I could find and Verizon appears to have patched any working exploits. Also have the same oversensitive proximity sensor. Great job Verizon!!!
UPDATE:
I have root finally! Flash the prior software version 39a as I was not able to get anywhere with 39aa. Used Kingroot to obtain root and installed recovery!!! I installed Xposed and adjusted the values for the proximity and light sensors so that is no longer an issue also.

My stock is too much laggy. I used cyanogen for my S3 and it was working wonderful. I was using lollipop for my S3. That was stable, fast and was packed with features. The LG G2 rom is dead slow. Thanks Suleman for your time and valuable comments.

Im not saying its bad to flash i personally recommend it to you but in stable form ,as it has bugs and in development stage n one more thing if you are camera lover then cynogenmod cam sucks your expectations , stock cam is far way better than this . if you really interested to flash something then go for xdabbes rom which is stock based , search the forum and you will get that,
Good luck
I built this ROM as a test for those who have locked bootloaders on the Tab S and can't get root.
In my experience Samsung bootloader locked devices will not allow a custom kernel or recovery to be installed. However it is possible that the bootloader will allow a modified rom to be installed.
The rom is bone stock Lollipop 5.0.2 except it is pre-rooted with SuperSU 2.49. It needs to be installed via ODIN. If ODIN allows it to flash then its highly likely it will boot just fine.
If there are any issues that arise then all that is required is to flash the stock firmware, available here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T707V/

If anyone gives this a shot, please report with details.

If it works for the T707v then I'll do the same for the other Bootloader locked devices. It all depends on whether ODIN will flash it or not.
The reason I have used the T707v is because this device at least has the stock firmware available, so it should be relatively safe to try this.
Not many wanting a rooted t707v then.

It seems the US LTE variants were not very popular, T807T does not have a lot of use either.

Seems so, would have done it for the att and other Verizon model if it worked. Wouldn't want to test it out on an att model first with no stock firmware available.
@deadman96385
Anyway I could do to pick your brains about something.
Am I right in thinking you have a Tab A?

I do have one, what's up?
I don't believe Odin allows modified system images to flash on bootloader-locked devices.
I tried on my Verizon S5, it shouldn't work, but let's see anyways
I have one and I'll try it but I'm out of town for work right now won't be home to try it until the 24th. Would be awesome if it works.

It does, it depends on the device's bootloader.
Plenty have been rooted or modified this way.

Exactly why I said let's see anyways
It's just that the S5 and Tab S are so similar in so many ways and were release at the same time on VZW, that I thought they'd have the same locks.

What do you mean you ran it and did nothing at all? It doesn't unlock the bootloader.
Its the stock OS already rooted.
Did it install successfully with ODIN?
What is the state of root when checked with Root validator?
We need screenshots if possible please.

One hit wonder, very helpful...
I have the 807V and am watching this thread very closely. Too bad that other guy didn't provide any info.

Exactly, if he'd have only took the time to at least let us know if it installed OK with odin. It seems like it did which means that he should also have had root.
Not sure what he was expecting to see?
