Hey guys,
I'm looking to buy an HTC one m7 to put a kind of pure android on it. I saw stock android on the Nexus 5 and I want to have something like that but with the m7. Is that possible? And what is the prognosis of future updates in the community for custom android versions? Pretty much wondering if it is foreseeable that I will be stuck on a version of android in a year or so?
Thanks guys
You can get a Google play edition of HTC One or you can use custom Rom based on stock android
GPE edition updated within 15 days when Google release new update !!

Im trying to decide between htc one and galaxy s4 and the drawback to the htc one to me is the flavor of android it has (sense 5?) and so my question is, is there a vanilla android ROM I can flash it with or something if I get it? I will figure it all out and spend hours learning how to do it once I know if I even can! Thank you so much
Yes you can install CyanogenMod and such.
Samsung are planning to release a Vanilla version of the Galaxy S4 without the Touchwiz interface.
I'm thinking of getting HTC ONE, and I'm an addict who has to have the latest version of android (CM).
Currently I have ONE X, and can't update to 4.4 because of no kernel/tegra or whatever.
Is HTC ONE safe for further updates? Because my old i9000 is much more 'open'.
htc one has good updates. sense based 4.4 is available also 4.4.2 cm based

true, just one small correction^
Hi,
I am about the get an HTC One, but unfortunately my carrier does not offer the Google Play Edition – the one with the Sense Android. I wanted to know if there is a way to install the stock edition of Android from the GPE devices to the stock Sense device. I know that there are many many cooked ROMs, bit I prefer the pure Vanilla Android Experience without the bugs and glitches of the Cooked ROMs (no offence to their developers).
Thank you.
It is possible.
You need to S-OFF and Unlock your bootloader and probably change CID (guide's in the forums).
Is there some dump of the GPE ROM or something?
I'm just wondering if anyone is still doing ROMs for the M9? I thought about updating to a newer phone, but I am happy with the hardware, I'm just hoping that someone is still out there willing to build a ROM since I'd prefer to just update my phone to Android 7.0 rather than looking for a new phone.
I'm going to guess that the answer to my question is a big fat "no" unfortunately... boo

Viper LeeDroid and ICE are all still developing for the m9, but waiting for new base
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Is this a tmobile m9 or an unlocked dev m9?
Hello, I hope this is the right section... my girlfriend has an old HTC one m7 which used to be mine and I gave it to her converted to google play edition with Lollipop 5.1, the phone is not rooted.
I did this years ago so I don't remember the specific HTC one procedures (I was coming from a samsung back then) but I converted an unlocked tmobile htc one lte to google play edition.
I'm now looking to update this phone to Nougat, especifically crdroid nougat which is aosp/lineage os-based.
I would also like to know how to return to sense if possible.
What would the steps necessary for this be? Do I have to convert the google play edition back to a normal htc one in order to install aosp roms or sense roms?
Thanks in advance.
Can anyone help?

if your phone is running the latest gpe firmware, simply flash twrp and your aosp rom. You don't want to flash the sense firmware back since the nougat roms work better with the gpe firmware.
