Since you're on MJ5, your bootloader is locked. The ONLY way to install a custom rom is to use safestrap. You'll need Safestrap-HLTEATT-3.71.apk.

There are several good 4.3 roms available, and safestrap is a very, well.., safe way to flash roms. No custom kernels or CyanogenMod though.

Thank you guys but I am used to more freedom aka Unlocked bootloader ,that's crazy though that the ATT version is as strict as big red

One person thinks they've locked the bootloader though. I'd be careful.
I'm going to wait for some Dev to come out with stock rooted. You could go to unrooted stock then get the ota.
BTW source is up

I'm hoping the tar doesn't take as long to show up as MDL. I'll wait and see what the options are and if it affects hotspot.

shabbypenguin has informed us that the bootloader is not locked! And was able to reinstall root normally and custom recovery.
Oh thank god!

Anyone who's unlocked and rooted but STOCK try installing yet? I'm hoping that goes smoothly... it used to with the S3, although you'd lose root, but if it can be easily re-rooted as reported here than that's no biggie.
I tried but I tried with a custom recovery and it fails. Shabbypenguin knows the exact way.

Ok. So just to clarify. I just got my s4 today. If I update it does not affect rooting options and bootloaders already out? I could root and trwp? Thanks

[Q] Help! Samsung N900A Root Option?

New to this forum and to the Note 3. My question may have been asked before on here, sorry in advance.
After spending hours online, I would like to know if there is root option for:
Samsung ATT N900A Note 3 running 4.4.2 Baseband Version N900AUCUCMLG.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
No if you want kitkat and root you need to go back to mj5 then install safestrap then install knoxraid. The way I understand it it is basically mlg with root and some debloat

I wouldn't use the method posted above unless you verify it is or 4.4.2 which I don't believe it is. There currently is not a root option if you are using kit Kat. Lots of people are waiting for root. When it happens you will surely see a method posted. The methid in the link above is more than likely root for a jelly bean version and may screw up your phone.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
He is correct the method above will not work. I believe actually it only worked on mi9. If you do this at best it will simply fail at worst you will brick... In all likely hood you would wind up at a best buy getting reflashed.
