Like the tittle says, screen is still working, but the glass has a big tear and a crack with small splinters where the back button is
Would replacing the digitizer be enough?
Thanks

G1 screen cracked but touch and screen working. Do i need to replace the digitizer? Can i find only the external glass/plastic cover? The touch function is working perfectly, thats why i think i dont need the digitizer.
Thanks
The glass is the digitizer.

I recently replaced a digitizer and amoled screen on the N1. The screen powers up just fine and the touchscreen is responsive when I leave everything out of the metal housing. After I put it in the housing, the amoled screen does not show anything. What should I be looking for? I can only assume the housing is making contact somewhere to cause this. Any suggestions? Thanks.
It was in my pocket and I ran into something. I bought this on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XMD9I2/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
Is this enough, do I need to buy a new screen AND digitizer? or is this digitizer ok?
The digitizer is the actual screen that you touch. The SLCD and/or AMOLED screen is a different screen that lies below the touchscreen. When that is cracked, colors will start to bleed and the screen will eventually turn black.
If the digitizer is cracked, sometimes it will screw up with touch inputs, but other times it will work flawlessly.
You only need to replace the one that is broken.
my galaxy ace had dust under the screen. to remove it, i disassembled the phone. I removed the dust between the glass and the screen, assembled the phone again and booted it up. But know the phone does not respond to any touch.
to find out what the problem is i'd like to know how the screen works. I believe that when I touch the screen, this is sent from the front glass to the 'phone', which makes the screen show the according view. So when the screen does not respond to me touching the screen i'd have to look for a new glass or could there be another problem?
i''ve cleaned the screen with lcd screen cleaner (on both sides because there was a fingerprint on it on the back side). I don't know if there was some sort of layer on the glass which could be removed by this cleaner, which actually would be essential for the touch function.
i hope someone can help me. I'd like to use this ace for a longer time...

thanks! i've used that tutorial for replacing the broken screen my ace came with from my sister. I replaced it and then everything worked fine again. However ,after that screen replacement, there got dust under the screen which I tried to remove this afternoon.
The dust is gone, but the screen doens''t respond to anything now.
I'am wondering if i 'broke' the screen and I should get a replacement screen, or that i may have damaged the lcd screen (which is fine i think, it displays everthing perfectly). or maybe the glass is fine but some connector is defect (i've disassembled the phone again, checked everything and connected it again).
As title says my LG L70 D320 middle part of the screen is not responding to touches. I entered dev options and show touches and pointer location.
It skips the middle part and it doesnt matter if i flip the screen, that row of blocks is just not responding.
Is it bad digitizer or it can be fixed somehow?
Sounds like it's probably a digitizer problem. Lucky thing is the part to replace it is very inexpensive. If your display is not cracked, then you'll just need the digitizer and not the glass. You can get this on amazon for $22.

The repair doesn't look too difficult either.
Digitizer problem
Yes, for me too it sounds like a digitizer problem. browse on ebay. You can find digitizers for around 5-6 USD .
BUT *****
If you don't have proper tools(heat gun - a hair dryer will work / tools to open up the device / double side sticky tape or the genuine sticky tape intended for lg l70) I think you should hand over the device to a pro to get the job done. Because, it's very easy to damage the LCD during the process of removing the digitizer
