It's difficult to contribute a translation now. We have to sync the repo, edit the XML carefully, and make a commit for every single language. That's not easy for average users who want to contribute translations. And revising translations is going complex, too.
I find that CM is using such an online translation service to help that, why not try it for OmniROM? Thanks~

CM only started doing that recently, and I know it is something @XpLoDWilD has thought of in the past... We just haven't had the time.
Honestly our translation process is one area where we really need a lot of work. I would prefer, though, if someone like plodey or max or another person whose native language is not English works on this, as they're more in tune with what translators need.

Got it. When it's ready, I'll be eager to contribute some Chinese translations!
Thanks for the great work~
Is this already running? How could I contribute to the translation?

Nod.
I have used many chinese wm5 roms, but I chose PP's ROM at last, for it 's the most stable chinese ROM.
Thanks for PP's hard and excellent work.
But PP's rom need pay money....

he is not a hero, 007 is.
Helmi + Xplode are our heroes (And a few others too!)
Anyone tried a PP ROM in comparison to one of Xplode's or Helmi's?
Maybe yes Maybe no.
Let me tell you.
Because create rom is a very difficult thing. Usually create rom need 1.5GB memory. But PP's notebook is very old. Every create rom and test is too slow. He sale rom is change his computer then create more rom for you. ¥40 RMB for one is only a case. Hope everyone understanding.
Helmi C and Xplode are my Hero !!!
I believe that more than me would be agree too !!!!
Thanks Guys you ROCKS !!!

don't come here talking such a shamed thing. Keep in mind that the rom resource he used is created by Xplode, helmi_c, or others at this forum, Freely.

No, I'm not PP.
this is pointless thread, a little clarification: everyone can make roms, everyone can port roms, everything needed is here on the xda-dev forums, the only thing you have to do is read
p.s. the real guru is mamaich, without hes tools it would be almost impossible to make roms
i am not an expert, i learn new things about WM every single day, i was member almost a year to this forums before publish my first rom (which in my opinion was a dizaster) but i improve every day, i read i test and learn

Thanks Helmi_c.
I only hope all bodys know there are many BA funs in China. Maybe they seldom speak English, so it is difficult to communicate with you and other players. I hope they can go here and talk about BA and I aspire you can help our junior player.
You are a hero too, and I admire you.
BIZARRE

This has got the be the most BIZARRE post I have encountered lately.
PP is not very much a R&D player at all. Kodous to his efforts in putting together ROMs that natively support Chinese. But thats about it:
-All his work is based on findings of XDA-Developers - mamaich, helmi_c, xplode et al.
-AFAIK, he doesnt share any of his findings here or on PDAFANS - the place he posts most of his ROMs.
-He sells his rom for a profit. No matter how the money is used, be it upgrading his laptop or paying his tuition, this practice is not appreciated and in fact ILLEGAL! And he doesnt support his users to upgrade to an new AKU for free.
I am really amazed how this post finds its way here on XDA-Developers where everybody is so contributing and helpful. Meanwhile, I would applause for PP if he can come back to the scene with a more open and contributing mindset.
Happy new year to u all.
PS: There are other players in China who make exellent ROMs based on latest AKU builds, distribute them freely and support them. Those threads are often very active and some have more than 1,000 replies! I believe they should love to share their findings here if they can speak some english as they did on some Chinese forums.
As the title says... would it be possible to make a "kitchen" like the one from samdroidmod just for Vibrants?
Well.. You need a host, and a programmer to put it together.. I can volunteer hosting, with the caveat that I would run ads if the traffic required me to upgrade. Now find a programmer to build the kitchen, and we might be in business..
I too can host, with a 750GB (7,5TB/mth traffic) hosting plan at servage.net. So, yeah, what we need is a programmer who can put it together =)
I am already working on a kitchen. But it will not be an online one. I don't have the patience to do one online because that requires a lot of code and resources if you are going to do it correctly. Plus, with a software type there is a lot of directions you can go with it without limitations. I am basing it off my Samsung Moment kitchen that I almost finished.
But in all honesty my biggest problem is I have a hardware locked Vibrant. So, testing is very very iffy for me.
Mine isn't hw locked, so if you want I could be your guinea pig...
I resantly was developing ROMs for wm, but am now over to android and vibrant. I want to learn how to develop for vibrant, but doesnt know where to start
But again, if you need a guinepig I can help
I can test your kitchen if you would like. Also I could help get it online. Don't ask for nothing but my name in the credit / thanks roll.

I volunteer for guinea pig work as well. Not hardware locked so I'm not worried about bricking my phone.

Sorry to be "that guy" but I can't help it. It's not "alà." That is not a word nor a phrase in French, just nothing. The phrase you are looking for is "à la." But since you're speaking English, you could use that or just simply "a la."
Back to the topic though: interesting idea.
haha... alà is a norwegian word actually, I just "ported" it to english
About the idea it should be possible also on the vibrant, but I'm no good at code... :S

Host Away!!
If you need hosting I can HOST also .. I have unlimited space and bandwidth ...
Let me know what you guys need.. Thanks
Any progress on this? I was hoping to make use of this.
Where does he moved?
I want download is rom.
Mods made my ROM Thread under investigation for strange reasons.....
They say that i have to wait a few days....LOL
Too much time.....
Where I can find your excellent rom?
I wait for your HEBREW support.
I love your rom it the best for my SAMSUNG.
I don't think this is the right place for you to make such post ! But anyway, as he said his rom under investigation for the time being.
@simone: i dont think its strange reasons ! U linked ur rom with a licence under CC, which is somehow scr**ing with google and samsung. That's my assumption, maybe i am wrong
Sorry but you have to wait at least 2 days for the Hewbrew patch....cuz now i'm working on restoring my thread as soon as possible...
You can find my rom on damian's forum....

lol @ trying to re-license other peoples GPL work into your own CC license.
Always nice when people use opensource work for their own project and then try to close it down. Good thing GPL does not allow for such questionable practices.

As said, i can remove this license!!!!!
you also have to provide the source for all GPL projects upon request (where you have modified source code, otherwise you can point to the original project), that includes DGO's kernel - and as far as i know he's refusing to release the source (which is illegal and unethical anyway)
you probably just need to use another kernel in that case (there are many good / better ones anyway)
I have promised myself not to say anything about this, everything will be explained in favor of XDA. So it does not matter what we say regarding this issue.
I have stopped all my development activities on XDA.
from my own blog:
Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. Heinlein

probably because XDA is in fact, right
Not only they are but they have a legal obligation to make people mostly respect the laws. They allow a lot of margin (technically a lot of the rom repacking with samsung's property for example isn't exactly legal) so the XDA hating because complying to a few simple and fair licenses is "too hard" is rather dumb.
Suppose this topic will be moved to a proper location or closed also
I publish a list of bugs and defects the phone LG P-990 for support LG. Thanks for the translation of verdugo2007 [ES] and SEAL-KillerXXL [ENG] from 4pda.ru.
I sent this list to the appropriate support center. Please translate for their regional languages and support the initiative.
This is text of my appeal:
Good day, dear LG company!
I have a smartphone LG P-990 and, just as many users, I have faced with a lot of problems, especially with software. After some researches and analyzing my handheld and a lot of community replies I have created a list of problems and bugs. The huge request from me and community is to consider this problems in the future Software Update. Also, I want to notice that this buglist consists of constant appearing problems and bugs, which I am sure needs to be resolved in the future.
I am also interested in the estimated date of new Software Update release. When it will be?
Please, send this document to your engineers and programmers for some research (regional and european branches).
Faithfully and with a huge hope, Altemir

And why all the language bit? More than 100 views and no replies? Will anyone join the translation into other languages and to communicate with technical support, or will further continue to whine about bugs? I wrote in 13-17 different countries technical supports.
Sorry, but I'm unable to do the translation currently. Maybe I am able to do it at a later time.
perfect !
good job, good resume of our problems.
I think there enought languages, the harder is that LG read this (and do something quickly)
bye
I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I think I'll post here instead of development. I want to get into making my own slightly tweaked kernels but I really know nothing about whets where in the repository (like what file I would look in for clocks or voltages). I was just wondering if someone could point me toward some documentation so I can at least have a but of an idea. Thanks!
Developing anything is pretty complicated without some codding skills so I would advise against trying to code your own kernel although if you want to I can't stop you but in your position I would have posted in android development section you may get faster results.
I have experience in coding in c++, html, some assembly, wrote a very basic bootloader that doesn't really do much for a pc. I'm just looking to make some minor changes. (clocks or voltages)
# include <iostream>
using namespaces std;
void main()
{
cout <<"Well in that case I guess you could but like I said you'll probably get more responses in the android development section then nexus one Q&A.\n\nBTW I'm no expert in c++ just wanted to do this as a little joke all I know are the basics ";
cin.get();
}
NOTE: I know code is not supported in most forums so if a mod wants to delete this feel free it was just a joke so.
Very nice but unfortunately wouldn't compile in my compiler thanks to microsoft requiring include stdfax or whatever it is that I have to add up there with precompiled headers.... A pain but I never really learned gcc and its rules
Will post in dev section thanks for the suggestion!
Oh well I just noticed something and I'm going to guess that's why it didn't compile for you I made a typo up there it's not "namespaces" it's "namespace".

All you have to do is browse some of the repositories here in the dev section. Click the GitHub link to pershoot or intersects repository. Then go to the kernel project/source and click "commits" at the top. Look thru each commit to get an idea of what's going and being changed in the kernel. The good stuff will be from months ago so you'll have to keep going back far thru the commits to find the significant changes.
Then setup your own build environment. Cyanogen wiki has a step by step tutorial guide that's straight forward and rather easy to get going.
When done that, just practice making some tiny code changes to the kernel, something that interests you, and try to compile it. You'll prob get an error so tweak it till it compiles with no error, then flash it to your device and see if it works.
It's fun to do and you can get setup pretty quickly with all the info available to us.
