[Q] How to replace Modem (or, broadband version)? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I am fairly new to this, hence the question. I'm not sure how to change the broadband version of a GT-N7000. I am guessing I need to use ODIN, but I'm not sure what needs to be flashed for it.
The reason why I am asking is because my broadband used to be XXLT4, but after I nearly bricked my phone, the USB module was changed at a service and the kernel replaced - but the broadband version of that kernel is XXLR9!
I really don't know if this is a problem, but it probably is, considering XXLR9 seems to be India while XXLT4 is Hungary, so I would like to replace it. I do not know how to go about this.
May I request help on what to do? Do I need to install the stock kernel, or are the modems available independently?
Thanks for reading and for the help in advance!

Do you have problems with your phone? I'm pretty sure service knows best... ?

i9000 Firmware Update Question

Hi,
I am glad I found this site, excellent source of information.
I have a question regarding updating firmware on the Samsung Galaxy S i9000.
My phone currently has firmware I9000XXJF3, looking over at samsung-firmware it seems that the latest version available is I9000XWJM2
My question is, will my phone be compatible with this firmware version? should I not go beyond the I9000XX releases? Languages don't mean much to me personally because I only use English (hopefully XW has it!)
If I do install I9000XWJM2 will the other 'tutorials' work for me as well? (the lag fix, etc)
Your help is appricated!
those XX doesn't mean anything related to the specificity of the model (i9000). In other words, yes, you can flash the new firmware without problems. In general you should make sure it's for i9000, but not in the name of the firmware, cause it's rather confusing. You should look for a thread of this firm and check it's for your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733368
Yes, tutorials still works!

Yes there is.
22.Can I flash an Asian ROM on my European device or vice versa?
Flashing should work without any problems. There are no known compatibility issues as of now. If any should arise, flashing back to Asian firmware is always possible.
Check your current ROM by dialing *#1234* to make sure you do not have a Korean variant of the phone (which is NOT compatible!).
Actually its not my concern if you read my post I've included my firmware and radio
PDA:M110S.DG14.0001
PHONE:M110S.DG07.1842.ST
It's different from all the firmware listed its from Korea so I want if I can make it to i9000JXXXX like that not this korean firmware

Go ahead and flash , then post your resutls here
It's not really easy. That's why I'm asking if there are other people who try to flash on this korean version of SGS. I would love to flash this but if it gets bricked you are the one who will replace it

Now im lost, I thought you were able to confirm that your SGS is different from the one that comes from korea despite it being "Anycall" thats why I posted the quote.. altho I understand the step says Asia to Euro but the note at the end says make sure your not using a korean version of the phone, then you said that is not your concern.
The step may refer flashing an Asian FW to a Euro handset but it clearly states that you are not able to flash X FW if your handset is from Korea.
But yeah at the end of the day, its not yet possible to change the FW on a Korean based handset.
Sorry for that, I also got lost. So it solves my problem and I'm stuck with these korean firmware. Is ther a possibility of root?
As Per this site in pages 8 and above
they confirmed that they use superuse+su+busybox by using Odin3
http://forum.samdroid.net/f49/superuser-su-busybox-i9000-v-2-01-07-2010-a-1355/
Anyone can confirm?
I'm too annoyed with this different firmware
Thousands of devices have been rooted in Korea, but it's hard to find support here for the device. Do a Naver search for "갤럭시s 루팅" or go to matpclub.com
I'm at matpclub.com
lucky for me, it's hard to understand and translation is not good
Agreed, but if you can find the file that contains odin and the update.zip everything else seems fairly like every other rooting system. Unfortunately, I deleted the file and the link after I was unsuccessful getting my device into recovery mode.
Here is the link for root. But I can't download the Msuper.zip

I'm too nervous to do this since my phone got no warranty and i'm not in korea

i9000 modem trouble

Hello every1,
I have an i9000 with 4.1.1
3.0.42-00746-g6564605-dirty Devil3_1.3.1_Hellybean_cappy_CFS_BLN_CMC #524 Kernel version
i9000XXJVT Baseband version
that drives me nuts, because i have poor reception of wireless signal.
I`m not good at this, and i don`t want to mess it up, so i am at your mercy to fix it. I assume that whoever upgraded it to 4.1.1 *i recently bought it of Craigslist), did not put the correct modem in it (my carrier is AT&T prepaid).
Pretty please tell me what i can do to change my reception for the better.
Thanks a LOT

[Q] S I9000 to S I9000M

I would like to convert my Galaxy S I9000 to a Galaxy S I9000M (Vibrant) Canadian.
I would appreciate it if someone could help with the rooting and tell me the name of the firmwares I need to use such as the
Kernal, Rom, etc.
Thank You.
So just to clarify (because I'm a bit confused) you want to convert one device to another? The only safest thing you can do is change build.prop, and that's only going to change how the device displays. If you want to flash a Vibrant rom onto the I9000, that's a no go because that can screw up the device.

Any reasoin why you want to make the change
Hi,
My phone used to be a i9000m.
In order to use all the custom roms, I had to convert it to a i9000.
The only thing that carries over every time I flash a new rom is the modem.
You need to use the "KG3" because I think it has something to do with the frequencies that are used by the i9000m.
So, maybe your i9000 modem may not use the same frequencies? I'm guessing, not knowing.
i9000 was wonderful, why change?

Thank You for your replies.
I am trying to learn about the Android system.
I would like to convert my Galaxy S I9000 to run on the Bell System in Canada
and I figured I need to convert to something like the Galaxy S I9000M (Vibrant) Canadian firmware.
I would like to have an i9000 working with (Bell) Canadian firmware.
I would like to wipe/re-program the phone to a factory firmware and install a firmware that will work in Canada.
The same process you do when you format your PC's harddrive.
I would like to root/clean my i9000 and re-program it with updated firmwares, giving me an i9000 Canadian Phone .
If this is possible, I need to know the names of the Rom, kernel, etc. for Canada, I could use to do this.
Thank You.
Factory Firmware you can get from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
I have the GT-I9000M_I9000UGKC1_BMCKC1.zip from sammobile
Thank You
nyloncrack
Since you have your phone working in Canada would you be so kind and share with me,
the firmware you installed to do this and
how You installed it.
Also do you have a link for this "KG3" rom/kernal file?
Thank You.

[Q] Help with finding and downgrading to android 2.3.5

Hi!
I am new to this site and it's the first time for me trying to downgrade my phone back to Android 2.3.5 which my phone came with. I can't find a ROM suitable for my phone (Galaxy Note N7000). I live in Sweden and the only one I could find was with the operator "Tre".
Is it okay for me to use this ROM although I'm not with that company or can You guys with greater knowledge help me find one? Is there another way to downgrade perhaps?
Thanks in advance!
Ideally you can install that rom.. It just comes with extra apps specific to that carrier. Just make sure to do a backup of current rom before.
