hi people,
So here is my issue, i rooted my tab after having it about a year and wanted to install a custom rom, installed RomManager from the market and installed the clockwork recovery mod, BUT i picked galaxy tab 10.1 when it asked me what phone i had, as there was no other option. I checked on google first and it seems other people with the 8.9 are using the clockwork recovery mod so i thought it was safe.
Now its dead and powers up to the samsung logo, and then dies again.
Help! (currently i am draining the battery as it is mentioned in another thread in this forum)
Thanks
(tried the APX thing in nvflash and it was a no go)

It's alright. Go to the guide in my signature and read up about ODIN because you will use it to save your tablet. It's all there in FAQs, How-tos and the Toolkit at the end.
i highly recommend checking out nirogu325's guide for an explanation of ODIN. it should solve your problem
Download Odin

Power on the tablet, you may need to charge it.
As it is powering on hold down the power and the vol down button
Go into download, not recovery
Connect your tablet to your computer with the USB cable
Open up Odin
You should see box that says PDA, click there and it will want you to find a file. Choice the recovery file
Make sure the box that says partition or repartion are NOT check
then check start and wait. DO NOT touch or disconnect the tablet while it works

Solved! So i was putting the MD5 file and it wasnt working, so i put the whole .RAR file in and it worked! It wouldnt flash the clockwork recovery mod though so i had to put the stock one back on.
Still it works again, thanks guys.

I am glad you have your tablet back in working order.
Well now that you have the stock recovery, you can attempt to flash the Clockwork recovery again the right way if you want to. You now know how to recovery your tablet if you have a brick again so you don't have anything to lose

If Odin recognizes the tab there is a chance to recover it. What rom are you trying to flash? Go to sammobile.com and get the stock gb rom.

thats what i have been using; when i try with odin3 v3.07 its not recognizing the tablet
I know it doesn't make sense but keep trying to flash the rom. I've seen it not work for many tries and then it would for some reason. If odin recognizes the tab you are not hard bricked. You should be able to get it to operate again.
Also, use the gb Rom, uckj7

TL;DR DON'T try to install a custom recovery yet. As of 5/12/15, the bootloader prevents you from doing that. At the moment, you can only root, which you can do through Ping Pong Root (google it). And if for some reason you goofed up and installed a custom recovery, go to AT&T and just say the bare minimum, that you "tried to update your phone" and it keeps telling you "this error message." If they prod more, you can say you "updated the firmware," but obviously withhold the words "flash," "recovery," etc.
So I greatly REGRET that I installed a custom recovery. I'd appreciate any help. I'm bricked in the "System software not authorized by AT&T has been found on your phone." Here's what I did leading up to it:
1. Installed Ping Pong Root party_beta5.7z. Unzipped, installed, rooted.
2. Root Checker verified root!
3. Determined my my phone is: G920AUCU1AOCE.
4. Downloaded TWRP 2.8.6.2 through Flashify for Samsung Galaxy S6 (zeroflte).
5. Flashed it through Flashify
6. Bricked (light blue screen with text) and bootloop.
Help!
EDIT: Steps I've taken so far:
1. Download Odin Tar files from http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-...g920a-t3103835
2. Connected phone to PC in download mode after installing USB drivers and ODIN 3.10.6
3. Put all 4 tar files into their corresponding spots.
EDIT2: No luck. Tried multiple ports, multiple computers, and used the official cable. Also Ran as administrator. After making sure my device is recognized as COM3 (blue box), and the tar files are plugged in, I keep getting the below error:

PS: Why do they provide a custom recovery if it straight "bricks" your phone? How is that even considered a working release and why don't they (TWRP) post a damn warning about it?

OP joined late 2011 and thought that just by gaining root, we could install custom recoveries on a still locked bootloader...........
LEARN FROM THIS, people! Don't want to go through this? Follow instructions!
That being said, from what I know of soft bricks, you are doing the right steps to fix it, I just don't have any experience with them to be able to tell you what you're doing wrong. People who have unlocked bootloader phones and installed custom recoveries, tripping KNOX, were able to flash back to stock and get KNOX back to 0x0, but again, they have the unlocked bootloader to be able to do that.... don't know what else to tell you other than to bring it to an ATT service center, play dumb, and see if they'll swap you into a new one

They do post a warning about it - they post what phones this IS for, and our phone is NOT listed! People, please learn how to read if you're going to screw around with your phones! You can't just say "I have an S6 Edge" and think they're all the same! TWRP clearly states the following two devices have recoveries available:
Samsung Galaxy S6 (zeroflte)
Samsung Galaxy S6 (Sprint) (zerofltespr)
Do you see zeroflteatt on that list? Do you think zeroflte = zeroflteatt? If you don't know what model phone you have and flash away, you're gonna have a bad day......

ATT re-flashed the firmware, it is fine now. Thanks!
I recently screwed up my S5 active and am desperate for help.
I only ever really occasionally screw with the OS, and I did a poor job of documenting what I did with this phone, so I will do my best to recollect exactly the state.
The phone is an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 active, model G870A
The recovery was some kind of robot icon that would show for maybe ~10 seconds at the start of boot (not a regular android, more square). I've tried searching for it to, as yet, no avail.
I'm fairly certain that the image I put on the device was KoolKit_S5_Active_V1.1.0.
I cannot recall if I used safestrap, towelroot, twrp, or some combination of these in order to get the above on the device. I have copies of each sitting in a folder I created for the phone.
The other day, SuperSU said it needed the binary updated. Me, being dumb, wanting the notification to go away, decided to appease it. It asked if I wanted to do so using recovery. I figured this would be easier, so I clicked "yes". And then my life got a lot more stressful.
When the phone boots now, it goes into ODIN mode and displays the message "android could not do normal boot. ODIN MODE".
I cannot get it to any other screen. Recovery, download mode, whatever. (I'm pretty sure this is download mode, but I cannot initiate any mode, it just goes into this).
I've been poking around on these forums. The first suggestion I thought might work was to use ODIN to (re?) flash towelroot. Or TWRP. I forget which one I tried, but it wound up resulting in a failure in ODIN, and a message on the screen stating something along the lines of "sys rev check fail no version".
I am very confused about what I need to be flashing using ODIN, but I have managed to cobble together that it has to be through ODIN.
I don't necessarily need links, I can find those, and I may already have the files. I'd really like to know which files it is that I need.
Do I need a firmware? What is the file format for that? tar.md5? etc.
Ideally I'd just like to get back to a regular run mode where my worst problem was a wonky USB port. I would deeply appreciate it if anyone could get me in that direction.
Thank you
It's working.
I plugged it in, tried to flash a PIT file. That failed. Apparently one does not flash those alone.
The screen said something like "check failed : PIT" ...
I went here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799754
Followed the instructions. Got a failure. (This was, stupidly and fortunately, without restarting phone after pit failure).
Phone rebooted like nothing was ever wrong.

Im glad you could fix it.
I also have a problem with a AT&T S5 active, the phone has horrible screen lag (even the booting screen is slow)
I tried doing a factory reset and also doing a downgrade to kit-kat using Odin, but the problem persists
I recently bought a used Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini and it appears to be infected with viruses (I did several factory resets including at least 2 hard resets and there are random programs that stay installed). I want to remove them before actually using the phone as my main phone. The phone works however. It will both connect to the internet and make calls. I put the phone into download/developer mode prior to connecting it to the PC and I tried to use both Odin 3.09 and Odin 3.07 to put stock firmware I downloaded from here at sammobile onto the phone. I was following the guide located at droidviews. (The forum is not letting me post direct links)
Please help! I do not have a lot of money to buy a new phone which is why I bought this used one in the first place. I am using Windows 10 on my PC. The phone was purchased in South Africa.
The download bar never even began to move on the phone display during this process.
This is the fail message Odin 3.09 gave me. I'm pretty sure it has been identical each time I've tried.

AVG virus scan detected 7 malwares and an unsecure setting that I do not know. The unsecure setting is "your device is running in High Priviledge mode (i.e. it has been rooted)." The 7 malwares all have the following message next to them by AVG. "This app was pre-installed by your phone vendor and we cannot remove it." When going to Settings>applicaton>all I could disable 5 of the 7, but could not uninstall any of them. They are not original apps seeing as they have names such as Mp3 Free Downloader, ConfigNService, etc.
Please let me know if you have any idea why the Odin flash is failing.

Did you tried uninstalling them with root privileges? I think es file explorer can do the trick of uninstalling system apps. If you can't get working stock rom with odin, just flash through cwm/twrp a custom rom.

I installed es file explorer and when I went to turn on root explorer it said that it that the test failed and that option couldn't run on my device. I do not know if it is a s3 mini issue or if it is a setting/malware issue. Also, I do not know anything about cwm/twrp custom ROMs. Do you have any articles or youtube videos that you recommend checking out to learn more and execute this idea? If you have any ideas how to gain root privileges with es file explorer that would be great as well.
Thanks for your help!
Is your note 4 doesn't boot ? shows eMMC error ? then you are in right place
To repair such , you need ODIN , stock cable and mobile driver installed and the most important repair Firmware( 4Files Firmwares (PDA,AP,Modem,Phone,CP,BL,Bootloader,CSC,PIT Files)for it
(This Method is only for Pro users who know how to flash kernels Bootloader using ODin and should be perform with the caution )
So the tutorial is as follow
Get a Repair Firmware Of Your model number
==================
A) SM-N910F
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24407100847294341
B) SM-N910G
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24411628330025773
C) SM-910P
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591020540821805
Now extract it in a folder . open Odin and choose the files i.e BL, AP, CP, PIT according to Odin option .
Now tick F.reset Time , Re-Partition ,
dont tick the "autoreboot option"
Once the flashing done . remove the cable from your device and remove the battery . insert it back to the device and boot into recovery via volume plus + menu and power button combination
now chose wipe cache and data reset . done
it should be fine
otherwise you could flash back the stock firmware (the one you downloaded )without the pit file
DONE
PS-special Thanks to tsar3000 for files
I have the Australian Note 4 - SM-N910G and decided to give the 4.4.4 repair firmware a try.
So far, so good!
(My phone previously had the emmc failure error. It exhibited the common issues such as reboots, crashes, freezes/non-responsiveness, wouldn't wake up from deep-sleep)
Unfortunately, the issues are back. Since yesterday, I've had to do 3 or 4 battery-pulls (phone would crash and freeze, or turn off).
If I reboot the phone, it will not do a normal boot-up, I have to pull out the battery, wait for 1-2minutes and plug the battery back in and phone will do a normal boot.
If I shut down the phone, it will not do a normal boot if I press the power button, I have to do a battery pull.
Battery is brand new, genuine Samsung, only two weeks old.
So yeah, I've resigned to the fact that my motherboard is most likely faulty.
EDIT - just to clarify, the repair firmware will probably sort your phone out if you had a bad odin flash or failed OTA update, something software related.
But if it's a hardware failure, better send back to Samsung.

well..for me there is no lagging or freezing ..but there's a workaround for your problem.. download wake Lock- Powermanager and set partial Wake Lock option hope this will fix the issue ASAP
well as far I recon, only snapdragon variants are effected with this crazy time machine bug around the globe . its more like a BOMB with a time machine. after 1yr or 2 "eMMC read fail" or Write fail " . The quality of hardware or software from Samsung has decreased a lot( i.e latest example is note 7 battery explosion )
The more I see and think about this problem, it reminds me of a problem HP had with some of its laptop.(I had one). They use to run very hot and eventually the solder joints under the GPU would gap. You would have to heat the chip with a heat gun and rig up a heat sink to get them working again.
Now I'm not saying that's what's happening, but I noticed these phones get really hot flashing deodexed roms. And just wondering if this could be a possibility, that the emmc chips are getting hot and breaking solder points.
Just an idea, or the chips are just bad.
You might be on to something. I had to do that exact same repair on an HP laptop some years ago. My Note 4 has always run a little hot, perhaps over time the heat has damaged its guts?

As far as I am aware, flashing Repair Firmware can only be done via Odin software, which requires a PC.

Will this work for n910t?
This method didn't work for me ( I was still getting write error when trying to flash) But I solved it another way:
I installed Philz touch recovery and used option "clean for rom installation" which formats absolutely everything (minus important stuff like efs) and then I used the emergency recovery option from Kies and it all worked fine.
Thanks
The above didn't work for me (but, thanks for the extra option though) tried the initial one also. Anyone else got any ideas - although I must confess I did use the wipe option in TWRP (I'm guessing that's the same).

The first option didn't work either- mine gets part way through and then fails.
Secure check fai: PIT
Hi
I have tried your proposed method,
But I got the following error " Secure Check Fail: PIT"
The Thing is my friend's note is broken, and TWRP 3.0.2 is installed and I'm stuck at boot loop
One more things my dumb friend installed a SM-N910P Firmware On SM-N910F Note.
So what should I do to fix this problem, thank you very much.

Can you still enter download mode?
Try a emergency recovery within Samsung Smart Switch on a PC with the serial number.
This will restore everything to factory defaults.
