In the Xperia SP versions which don't allow bootloader unlocking (Bootloader unlock allowed: no) , does the phone not boot in fastboot mode? I can go to Flashtool mode but not to fastboot. Is this the reason why?
update:
I only got you question now.
It is true that fastboot doesn't work with locked bootloaders, and that Flashtool does work.
But that doesn't mean your custom rom or kernel you flash with flashboot will boot. It works for stock.
If you're at 4.1 there are ways to get root and CWM, I don't think there are easy ways to flashing custom rom or installing root or CWM from 4.3 unrooted without unblocking, getting back to 4.1 to get root on 4.3, or perfoming factory reset.
You may want this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2649923
It's a very long way, but at least it works. You can get 4.3 rooted with recovery, but you must go back to 4.1.2 to run CWM once. That is for root; Recovery procedure includes factory resetting...
Hope you can get it working as you want... Locked bootloader really are nasty

Hey guys i know there is probably an answer in here somewhere but ihave looked everywhere and tried all possible options to get this working. After my pc companion nagging at me to upgrade i bit the bullet and upgraded to JB 4.3 10.4.B.0.569
Afterwards i then found out that it had relocked bootloader and unrooted my phone..
So i went through the sony normal way of unlocked bootloader first of all... this is where i've hit a snag.. first time the Command promp told me it had failed then itried again with my KEY and it said DONE.... now my phone was stuck in a terrifying bootloop. So i then flashed 4.3 firmware using flashtools, and repaired my phone through sony center.... again.. tried to unlock bootloader and was stuck in boot loop. I have re flashed about 4 times and tried to unlock 4 times... still getting boot loops....
Any one care to shed some light on this?
Many thanks
Chris
Bootloader
Is bootloader unlock allowed?
Have you tried relocking it again using flashtool?

Hey
I was playing around with 4.3 all last night and managed to get root on my Z with locked BL,
Here is how I did it..
(Locked bootloader, skip unlocking if already unlocked)
- Flash the .67 firmware via flashtool
- Root 4.2 as you would have
- Unlock your bootloader and Backup the TA partition to relock this without losing any DRM keys
- Using flashtool flash the new firmware .569 (4.3)
- Then flash Doomlords advanced stock kernel
- Boot 4.3 and power down
- Using the recover installed with the kernel flash a superSU.zip from somewhere around here.
- Reboot and you now should have root
[Locked bl]
- Reflash ONLY just .569 kernel from the FTF
- Power on and Restore your TA partition to relock your boot loader and return everything back to normal..but with some root
As for your bootloader not unlocking properly i would first check to see if an unlock is allowed
when i try to flash 4.2 67 firmware..i just got bootloop..please someone help me..what have i done wrong..i still in LB..
Wipe data when flashing.

Just unlock your bootloader through Flashtool when on newest firmware, flash advanced stock kernel, root, flash back stock kernel and re-lock your bootloader. should be working for you, and it wont take that much time :good::good:

If the warranty and features such as Bravia Engine 2 are important to anyone, please don't just follow this. Your DRM keys that allow BE2 to work and your warranty will be permanently lost.
Follow the earlier post in this thread and downgrade, root and backup your TA partition BEFORE unlocking the bootloader.

I have a Sprint HTC One. I previously unlocked the boot loader and installed clock work mod recovery. I achieved SU and partial Super CID. I tried flashing Viper ROM after relocking the boot loader, which failed. when I went to reboot the phone, I was in boot loader without a system ROM. so I installed the stock ROM and updated firmware. the phone now works. however, I lost su and my custom recovery. I tried to unlock the bootloader , reinstall Viper, but neither will work it fails every time. I am experienced at following instructions on this website, but I lack the knowledge to know exactly what I am doing with each action.
Please help me get either su, custom recovery or the boot loader unlocked. I still have S-off and I am at a loss. Thank you!

... simply flash appropriate custom recovery from fastboot. boot into recovery and try to reboot from there and it will ask you if you want to root the device. root it. reboot normally and you will see SU app. open it and update binaries. thats it, you are rooted ...
Failure
Okay, so I appreciate the attention and help, but it fails to install recovery, flash roms, or unlock the bootloader from fastboot. I can flash firmware and run an RUU from my desktop. As well, I can run the Sprint OTA update from the phone, but I have not done that yet. I have hboot 1.55. I have tried to flash things from terminal emulator, but I'm having trouble. I can access and use the phone for Sprint, but the CID says 11111 and won't let me change carriers. Once again, I have S-off.
Thoughts:
Run Sprint update and try to start from scratch, if all else fails, sell it.
Can I flash SU from bootloader? I haven't tried that yet, although I doubt it will work given my other problems.

... slow down and calm down. i think you are hasting things. dont worry and do whatever you wanna do step by step. its not clear to me what you want to achieve, you wanna switch carriers ? want ota ? want custom rom ? you are s-off but cant flash recovery !!!! please explain exactly what you want and what errors are you getting and doing what
i think you cant have SU from bootloader and certainly terminal emulator doesnt flash recoveries and rom., fastboot does recovery and recovery flashes rom. dont play with your phone like this without proper knowledge. ask whatever doubts you have prior doing anything ...
Straight Talk
You're funny. Yes, I am in a hurry to use my new phone... Ultimately, I want to use it on straight talk. It is S-off, and the boot loader will not unlock, the phone won't flash a recovery and I have lost su. It's the weirdest thing! I haven't had this problem before. Usually you flash stock firmware and ruu and you're back at square one, but not this time.
I would pay you to visit my problem via Teamviewer? Interested?

... Dear if you wanna network unlock your phone, follow the steps exactly as described.
1. Flash this and only this RUU (first link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250904 ), no need to relock bootloader if unlocked as you are s-off.
2. Download the recovery for sprint variant and flash it in fastboot mode (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) (link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2651035).
3. Boot in to recovery and press reboot and then system, it will ask for your permission to root, root it. restart normally and open SU app and update its binaries. phone will reboot itself in recovery and back in normal mode. You will be rooted then. :victory:
then ping me for sim unlock ...
Guys , I have to sell my phone, so, I decided to do all the necessary to have it stock..
So, the question is, how can I do this? I need the phone like when I bought it
You can do most of this via SRK Tool. If you can't relock bootloader then you can flash your stock update.app via stock recovery and that will relock your bootloader and get rid of root.
Please don't follow this for when you have Nougat beta installed though.
I currently have TWRP recovery.. How can I put stock recovery?
Is better to put 1st the rom and for 2nd the recovery or contrary?
Anyway thanks for answering me!
1. Backup (as always)
2. Flash stock recovery with flashify for example
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862669572
3. Flash stock Rom b182 with dload-method
http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=91783&version=358257&siteCode=de
Now your Bootloader is relocked and everything is stock again (I hope so)
suppose I unlock my bootloader, install custom recovery like TWRP and now, If I wish to RE LOCK my bootloader ( dont ask why), is it necessary to have the STOCK recovery installed before relocking or custom recovery will be fine?
Thanks.
Relocking the bootloader is NOT recommended. That said, you can and should keep TWRP if you choose to lock it.
Oh okay. I read somewhere that if you choose to re lock your bootloader you have to go FULL STOCK ( ROM + Recovery). I guess that might not be the case for nexus devices?
Relocking the bootloader will wipe your data, but it doesn't play cop and make sure everything is stock. All the bootloader does is pass off control of the device from the low level firmware that we cannot access to either the recovery or Android itself. Locking the bootloader only ensures that the possessor of the device cannot change the contents of the partitions from outside the device using ADB. A device with TWRP and a locked bootloader can still install custom ROMs, and possibly even root.
However, there is practically zero reason to ever lock the bootloader once unlocked, leaving people to wonder why you would want to.
Hello
Yesterday I've rooted my phone and then I wanted to install a custom rom (CarbonRom).
I've read that I have to unlock the bootloader for installing a custom rom. I did this with the flashtool.
After that my phone stuck in bootloop.
I have restored my phone with twrp recovery and it works now. But I still have a locked bootloader.
I have read that I have to install a stock rom to prevent a bootloop. I only rooted my device so my phone still should have the stock rom on it.
Does anyone know how to unlock the bootloader properly?
Thanks in advance
