I need to Root this AT&T Galaxy Note 3 running a stock just restored to factory settings 4.4.2, baseband is N900AUCUCNC2.
I tried to follow the video tutorial and links here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/#root
then i tried to look for the necessary files here: ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...mctr=(not provided)&__utmv=-&__utmk=126469134
I also checked here: http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/#odin
I do not see the AT&T SM-N900A model on the list. Can anyone point me to the right files?
Thanks a lot

Thanks a lot guys. I can't believe the solution was that easy after spending a day trying to follow the other tutorials without success.
I do not understand why the towelroot option is not pinned to the root section of the forum for this phone or even coming up first in google.
Thanks again

I have the SCH-I800 or verizons galaxy tab and am looking to upgrade it some. It currently has galaxy cubed and I wanted to go to CyanogenMod9 or ICS. I tried going to CyanogenMod9 from clockwork but it aborts with error code 7. So does anyone have some recommendations as to what I should upgrade 2 and a rather noobish guide on how to do it?
Thanks

I recently purchased the same VZW tab (part of $49 close-out sale) and have been unable to find definitive instructions for rooting the device. Would you mind sharing a link that describes the steps?
Thanks in advance.

Hi. I have been reading your threads on rooting the original verizon galaxy tab and everything makes sense through root. In one of your posts you say,
"After rooting install clockwork mod 5.0.2.7 ( not sure abt this it can be 5.0.7.2) with heimdall .
Than u can install ics from first link provided "
I am very new at flashing roms, so this portion of your phrase is not clear to me. Before I root, I want to have decent confidence I can get ICS onto my tab. Have downloaded the daily driver you noted (Build 10 and the patch) into folders to flash....None of the files in each look like what was inside the Vanilla folder. ANy additional advice or steps you can provide post root would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much in advance. Will post this on the thread as well in case others are in the same boat.
gonna try it tonight
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1585619
from what i read this is suppose to work the same way on the vzw tab. im gonna try tonight and report back.
as per cm9 instructions the rom is suppose to be flashed thru cwm not thru heimdall.... but first you have to upgrade cmw to the 5.. one
*edit*
i followed this method. instead. method above made me soft brick my tab. post #563 has the instructions.... you must use winzip to unzip cmw recovery file

Depend on your phone version, you might need to follow the procedure given in the following website:
http://rootgalaxynote.com/category/galaxy-note-root/
Then you can obtain CWM from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1329360
Just follow dr ketan guide. It is so simple.

Hi
I have just updated my Galaxy Note to the official ICS 4.0.3 update released by Samsung here in India.
The build number :IML74K.DDLP8
Baseband Version : N7000DDLP4
I just want to root my deivce, for now, I do not want to install any Roms. Looking to root just to add universal proxy support apps and freez all the crapy bloatware.
The instructions seems to be quite straight forward. I have just one question, will the above steps work even after upgrading to the official Indian ICS version.?
Please advice...this is my first time rooting any android phone ever.
Any suggestions on the above, will the root method function even after the update to official ICS

This method talks about flashing an already rooted kernel to the device. Is it safe to do that with the hard brick warning for ICS kernels out there?
Also the description says that this method will work for all GB versions. will it work for the official ICS update of Samsung India?
Hi,
I bought a samsung exhibit II 4g from walmart last year. The phone was not very responsive for the past couple of months and hence I contacted T-Mobile customer support. They provided me the instructions to upgrade the firmware on my phone and I tried that with Samsung Kies. It is one of the worst software I have ever seen in my life. The firmware upgrade stalled at 3% and the only option I had was to take the battery out of the phone. Then when I turned on my phone, I got a message saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue". I tried to fix it samsung kies and it did not work. My phone was not working for 3 days when I was doing the research to fix it.
Finally, I followed the Exhibit Wiki on xda-developers (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2131576) and followed the ODIN method to install the custom ROM (I could see that it is the latest firmware for this phone). Everything worked on the third try, but Wi-Fi was not. When I clicked on Wi-Fi from settings, it displays "Error" under it. I tried Wi-Fi fixer, but it did not help.
I tried a factory reset and that did not help too.
Can some one help me? I need to get Wi-Fi working on my phone.
Thanks,
Balaji.

Hi,
I did the following things and now my wifi is working.
1. Installed custom rooted kernel t679-root-v1.8.zip.
2. Installed Root Uninstaller Pro by downloading the .apk from playstore and installed it.
3. Uninstalled some stock apps from the phone.
4. Installed CWM Recovery.
Tried turnin on Wi-Fi and now it works.
Thanks,
Balaji.
Glad to hear it is all working out now. Don't worry about root uninstaller. Chances are you will never need it. At least you got here before you managed bricking the phone from following other guides not meant for this phone.
Good luck and remember the only dumb question is the one not asked. Feel free to ask when you find you need advice or guidence. Someone will always be here to help.

I see that xda-developers forum is very active and provides a wealth of information. Though it took couple of days to understand the basics and things, I was able to fix the phone using the information from the forums. Thanks for keeping this forum active and up-to-date. I am marking this thread as SOLVED.
Thanks,
Balaji.
Hi all
Hopefully I am posting this in the right place.
I am in the process of learning how to flash custom ROMs etc. My phone is currently rooted and I am thinking of installing CWM from ROM manager so that I can update to a newer Android version.
My understanding is that if I backup my stock ROM with CWM before I flash a custom ROM I can go back to my original ROM but the kernal / CWM recovery will remain
My main question is how do I "uninstall" CWM later if I wanted to return my phone to a stock warranty state. I believe that flashing a stock kernel will achieve this, however, I haven't been able to locate a procedure and the files specific to my phone's model (GT-N7000B, on 4.1.2).
Thanks in advance

Thanks for link. There seems to be a wealth of info there. Apologies for a silly question but may I ask what is the best way to navigate this thread since there are 280 odd pages. There is a guide at the beginning, but it appears to be the oldest post. Would it be better to work from the newer pages and work backwards (from page 280). I did a quick search in the thread but did not see much reference to the N7000B. Hopefully it is fully compatible with the guides and files for the N7000.
Thanks

The first posts are updated with any newer roms and procedures, all the info is at the beginning. Personally I read through the last 10 or so pages to familiarise myself with things to watch out for or avoid.
N7000B is compatible with N7000 roms and rooting.

That makes sense. Thanks for the info. That's very helpful.
I recently received my Note 3 (SM-N900A) back from Samsung service and noticed they put OC3 on my phone.
I would like to know how to root OC3, if its even possible. I really don't want to downgrade as OC3 fixed some issues I was having. But will also understand if no one has a solution for ROOT on OC3 as it is still a recently released firmware. Thanks in advance.
-SemperFi
A month has passed since I asked this information, so i'm guessing its still not possible. Not finding much when searching SM-N900A rooting 5.0 lollipop OC3.
And before anyone replies with "there is already a method if you searched correctly", yes I know there is a workaround for OC1 to downgrade to 4.4.2. But, I am attempting OC3 root. So if there is still nothing for OC3, please just say that. If I am not searching the right keywords to find what I'm looking for, than please just post a link if there is one. Thanks in advance.
disappointed
I was really going to see an answer to your post as i have oc3 as well, and i do not have a computer so i am unable to do the workaround.
OC1 method will work. I downgraded from OC3 TO 4.4 then back to rooted OC1. All for the sake of Viper4Android.
This is the method I followed.
Just make sure to freeze or disable with titanium or similar app "AT&T software update" or all your effort will vanish in an OTA update back to OC3.

Oc3 firmware it would have been nice to have a unmoded copy of
Oh well a copy of at&t signed oc3 would be great to have had to tinker with . Could someone with the new firmware post a copy and pm me a link please.
If we had a copy, could we flash it with flashfire using ever root?

I just got one of these. And appears none of the links for firmwares are good any more. I am attempting to locate what i can and reupload them here but may take a few days to locate. As none are really available
