Reflash at bestbuy. Thats the only way for now to get to official nc2 without root.
How did you manage that? Did you try doing a factory reset/clear cache through recovery?

Ok before we get into a who's smarter debate.. read the topic... I deleted my data while in recovery. This was about 1 month ago actually the day the geohot root was released. Us using att note 3 devices had no stock 4.4 2 firmware and I don't think we do even still. So what was my do it yourself option? Being as att note 3 devices are n900a/t compatible I used downloaded mlg.tar (n990t)= universal att/tmobile 4.4.2 and Odin flashed and walla my phone booted up I then rerooted, flashed a custom rom and here I am. After checking settings it says I'm on n900amlg. .. no complaints point is he has no firmware so what better solution do you have at the moment?
So what are you confused about again? Obvious You don't know what you are talking about.

If you rooted with method that increase binary counter of your phone - there is not option to revert it to original state. Samsung will know you did "bad things" with your phone. And good news are that binary counter could be reseted when we get JB, with use of Triangle Away. Till then nothing.

Hello, I am running a stock RAZR M, but rooted when I first got it to remove bloatware.
I'm just looking to install the latest update (I keep getting the error message since I deleted the bloat apps, and I can't restore apps).
I dont think I "unlocked boot loader", because I don't even know what that it. I'm just trying to get this update on my rooted phone. Even if I lose root, I'm ok with that.
I'm pretty new to this, but have done some rom flashing on previous phones.
Once I download this file, do I install through Clockwork manager? Can I boot into system mode and install from .zip?
Thanks so much for your help!

From my understanding, you can't update without all the bloatware.
And updating will remove root. You will have to reroot.

I know most of the users had to install all the apps/bloatware that they deleted in their system/apps folder to be able to update.

I just updated mine while being rooted. I had to uninstall updates then then update. Try that and see if it helps. Had to reboot as well. When I just tried the typical update like normal it kept locking up my phone, that's when I rebooted uninstalled then started over like when u first pair your gear. Everything works and I'm on the new version and rooted gear as well. Last time I did the update I had to reset my gear and lost root but this time it didn't.

KIES 3 will work in the sense that you can use every thing BUT:
The EFR tool
&
The Update tool
Everything else with KIES 3
should be fine for your gn3.
And to reiterate, as I stated before... This thread is not about KIES itself, it's about the tool inside KIES: "EFR tool".

The Update tool
Everything else with KIES 3
should be fine for your gn3.
And to reiterate, as I stated before... This thread is not about KIES itself, it's about the tool inside KIES: "EFR tool".

It's the same scenario when the g2xpos **** phone hit the market:
LG "hi customer service can I help you? Oh what reboots? screen bleed? Overheating?Oh Im sorry sir
we ARE NOT AWARE of those issues, AND WOULD NEVER LIE TO YOU!!"

FU LG !! Got my 20$$
But seriously guys no clue whats up, but heres what I got when trying to run:
Update Firmware Tool & EFR(Emergency Firmware Recovery) tool
All I know is I was hoping to use EFR to get back to MI5, and no matter if I
tried to use the "Update Tool" or "EFR tool"
the image I posted is the message I got.
BTW the image is from like 10 min ago.
I keep getting device not responding while trying to connect to kies. Is there a service on the phone that kies needs to be running? I froze a bunch of stuff in TIBU and wonder if I froze something that it needs.

unsettling and upsetting.
Hey Freak- Keep us posted on your progress. I can't believe Samsung or AT&T would disable the Emergency Recovery in Kies. It seems to me it would lessen the amount of warranty returns. This phone is looking less desirable with each roadblock we encounter.

I found the service that was causing my issue. You need to have wssyncmlnps enabled for Kies to make the connection. I had froze it because it was using a lot of battery.

but this shouldnt make a difference using Kies. if the phone is soft bricked you would not be able to access this anyway. I went to best buy and the samsung kiosk. they called up samsung and the rep told him that the firmware was not supported/released for kies or any download interface. att could not do it, best buy could not do it. they had to just replace the phone.
Which i do think is stupid. Why have so many replacements when you can just release the firmware and same your reps time and money on the replacements.
Is there anyway I can root while on 4.2.2 MLG ? Or go back to mj5??

I think this should go to Q&A but the way I understand is you are on 4.4.2 right? Not 4.2.2 since note released on 4.3.
MJ5 baseband which means you are running custom rom. Cannot be stock.
If that's the case, you can do the MJ5 restore to go back to 4.3 but please post the pic of the about so we can confirm what rom you running.
Have you tried kingo. This should be in the General thread

whats up Black...think he wants official ota..I told him if he does an ota it will be kitkat

I know and I'm fine with that. The only way it seems to me to get the official ota KitKat is to go back to mj5. Then do the actual process of the ota update. But when I do that, I get stuck with this message..

Ah...I see Butch.
To OP,
My suggestion is not to get the OTA but rather get the root and flash the custom KK that is close to stock. You will always have a choice there if you wanna mess around later. Once you go OTA, no way to go back and no root nothing. Don't make a jump unless you absolutely sure you can live with it. Read and research thoroughly. A lot of people want to go back from OTA and stuck with it.
Ok I got it.. now I'm getting stuck when updating. . It downloads, but when it in stalls. It says update failed. I've tried it like 5 times
