it's possible to flash the latest firmware 14.4.A.0.108 on the model c6943(brazilian) even though it is only for the c6903 model? i think that the only differences between the brazilian model and the c6903 is the digital tv and the radio, the rest is the same, i guess

I think its not possible, i have a C6943 too and i really want to have 4.4.4
well, i'm not sure, cause when i started on my c6943 the first thing that i did to get root was a downgrade for the .534 firmware of the C6903 version, and everything goes ok, the only thing that changed was the model on "about android", the rest seems fine, the same as the C6943 version, but i don't know if gonna be the same on this new 4.4.4 firmware
i'm tired of the .757 bugs --, principally the microphone bug on whatsapp and the battery drain

Technically saying you can flash it. Sometimes you lose signal and wifi but you can get it back by flashing original C6943 modem.
But it's risky and I suggest you not to do that but just wait for the update.

Yes, you can. You'll lose the DTV ability (and FM radio), but that's the only difference. Apart from that, the two phones are identical. I've not done it with the 108 firmware, but there was no issue on previous builds.
for those have Xperia Z1 C6943,
i did the update using this thread:

and this one for root and dualrecovery:

and it is really smoother

Just picked up my Xperia Z from Bell - here's a little information on the device, as after searching for a while there doesn't seem to be much out there about this:
Model Number: C6616
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband Version: 9x15A-ACEFWMAZQ-30110041-32
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-g6df7905-02328-g70ed36a
Build: 10.1.1.A.1.319
Customization Version: 1275-6311_R2A
Also, rather unfortunately, the bootloader cannot be unlocked (according to the Service info > Configuration page).
Can you tell us if the screen is better? I saw some videos on the Bell website and it did look better. I was gonna go check out the Bell store today but didn't have time lol

I don't have a lot to go by in terms of better than other Xperia Z models, but compared to my SGS3 it looks much better and is actually visible in direct sunlight.
Have you tried rooting it and flashing a custom recovery?

Not yet - this is the first Sony device I've owned (used to Samsung devices and the various Nexus'), so I'm a little gun-shy regarding flashing things meant for different models.
Tried rooting it today and, as expected, it failed.
Use DooMLorD to root, I think it should be fine.
Would you be able to backup your rom to FTF file?
Here is the instruction to make ftf file of your rom.

The update made the screen look a lot better but that was with 253 version already and 4.2.2 made it even somewhat better again and camera too.

Tried Doomlord's without luck, but I didn't use the new method to flash the other kernel (was fairly unsure if I would soft-brick it). I'll follow that guide and post the resulting file, though.

Thank you very much for the ROM.

I flashed its baseband but it didn't work unfortunately.
This Rom only has band 4 LTE also even though Bell says it has AWS and 700.
It couldn't pick up t-mo LTE too.

For any other Bell users who are new to Xperia devices and unsure of flashing, I successfully flashed this 4.2.2 stock firmware using Flashtool (left FOTA, BASEBAND, and UNKNOWN unchecked). I had to add the Bell APN settings, but everything works!
Additionally, I rooted using this guide, but when I got to step 11, I reflashed the kernel from the first firmware image I linked instead.
So if I get this one, unlock it and flash standard firmware, can it be used with Rogers and its LTE?

Rogers and Bell both use the same LTE bands, so it should be good with the network unlock. Switching firmware is really only required for rooting/getting 4.2.2 at this time.

So bell's firmware is standard or it's a custom one with bell's apps per-intalled (aka you have to wait for them to release a new version 2-3 weeks after everyone else gets it)?
Bell's firmware has their apps, and is subject to their release schedule, but will work with other carriers - it's just the network lock that prevents you from using another carrier. However, if you're looking to root, or don't want the extra Bell branding in your face, switching firmware is a valid option.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of bell's branding tbh, because all my services are with rogers. But what is difference between 6606 and 6616, do you know by any chance? thx

Never used the 6606, or any of the other models. From the looks of things, though, it's a difference in basebands and supported frequencies.
laslow, I flashed baseband off the ftf file you posted, there is only band 4 LTE, not 700 (band 17) as stated on Bell website.

I'm not running it anymore so I can't verify, but that was the firmware bundle on the phone, fresh from the store.
If I flash a Generic C6603 Stock FW on my C6606 from T-Mobile, will I get updates from Sony through OTA or Mac Bridge?
Basically will my phone then act like a C6603 when reporting model?
I am just wondering if I can use this as a way to get official updates from Sony faster than what T-Mobile will provide.
Thanks
In firmware related, your c6606 is in fact a c6603 right now, so there could be no reasons on updates should install correctly on your fake c6603

I've switched my 6606 from T-Mobile to a stock 6603 and get updates direct from Sony now. I just got one a couple days ago actually. Hotspot also works, as well as no T-Mobile bloatware anywhere on the phone!

You keep LTE. I always select to exclude baseband in Flashtool just for the heck of it, it's not required.

I dont believe it is a good idea to post that question here on XDA due to the ammount of rumors and fake intel from many users.
I dont know actualy. C5306 is the one sold in the USA right? Perhaps the big operators like AT&T and Verizon have something to do with the update?

Yes, but I'm on an unlocked onee so any carrier-related-idiocy shouldn't affect the update on my end.
And yes I know where are you conning from I'm not asking a date, I just want to know why the update is taking so long to be pushed out.

No, backup won't work when you change a version of Android (in this case, 4.1 --> 4.3). So look for a backup app on the Play Store. I flashed everything on the ROM, though, I lost all my data (including photos and videos) saved on the internal memory. I think you can prevent that by ticking off the "wipe data" option on Flashtool, I'm not sure.
Even LTE works.
C5306 US owner here. Unlocked (basically any SP owner in the US is unlocked because it is not used by any major carrier). Still no update, even though the Sony Mobile US site for the SP shows that a new firmware has been out since 2/12. To be honest, after hearing all the issues, I don't want to update it until there is another 4.3 firmware update to see if things are fixed. 4.1.2 is working fine for me anyways.
There's a Mexican user telcel branded that actually update to 4.3, I'm Mexican too and I know that the only variant sold by telcel is 5306, because support LTE.... Maybe I'm wrong, but I saw that user in the 'news about 4.3 and 4.4'
Mine is 02 because is unbranded xD...
Also, u can flash a tft, maybe if u flash a C5303 variant u can keep LTE....
Also, PCC backup works even if u change android version, model, etc.
so in israel the distributor only sells 6902 devices due to no LTE networks here, many people bought thier Z1 not in israel and have the 6903 model, unfortunatly hebrew language is not an option for non rooted devices on stock roms which are not the specific israel variant.
so i was wondering if it's possible to create a patch for the baseband like i saw there is one for 6902 that enable you to flash 6903 roms on your device, but the other way around.
alternativly if i only flash the baseband from a 6903 rom and the rest from a 6902 will it work or just brick the device?

All custom ROM's support the C6903 by default unless specified otherwise. You shouldn't have a problem with installing custom ROM's on those C6903 devices.

Hello from Australia, still on KitKat, the ISP's haven't even received Lollipop here and its not looking like we will get an update any time soon...
So i have been thinking about CM12.1.
From what it looks like, there are only nightlies available....
Is it worth getting on that?
Are they safe enough?
Are there any other methods of getting lollipop on my device as a daily driver?
How would i go about installing CM12.1 on the Xperia Z1?
Cheers,
Marcel
Why don't you flash an official lollipop firmware? (from another carrier or a generic one). CM12.1 still have some bugs...
Search in "General" or "Android development" for stock lollipop "ftf" or "pre-rooted firmware" it's easy and safe to install

Well, just check frequencies...
Here in Italy we can flash anything that is EURO-LTE... Just have a look for GLOBAL-LTE rom... I think it might actually work. If it doesn't, you aren't bricking nothing, just flash 4.4.4 ftf...
I also suggest you to use xperifirm to check and download the ftfs

Question is does Australia use LTE or 4G? Because I tried a LTE variant on my UK handset and it wouldn't work, I had to create my own pre-rooted rom to allow me to use 4G.
