wifi issues- HELP - Motorola Atrix HD

---SOLVED--
So, Im not normally this impatient and haphazard but my internal storage was FULL (with very few apps installed) and my irritation blew over.
I went into the root (/) and deleted everything inside.
I got confused thinking that system files would be stored in a seperate partition (sdcard/emmc).
Needless to say, I flashed a ROM and everything looks okay (side note, formatted cache, system, firmware i.e the works on CWM)
HOWEVER, the wifi is broken. I try and switch the toggle to the On position, but it remains dark grey and eventually slides back.
The quicktoggle doesnt even switch to an ON position.
Im not an expert, but I believe it might be a Firmware issue / driver issue.
Can anyone help me by diagnosing and a small step by step fix?
Much appreciated.
Ps(no CWM backups available)

You could also try flashing back to stock which may not be a bad idea since there was a modem update included with ATT's latest OTA.update.

[Q] Can't restore via CWM [fixed]

Hey guys,
I'm fairly new to the modding of Android phones (my previous phone was a TYTN II) and I'm having some problems restoring my backups via Clockwork mod (which is a bit of a pain in the ass for me, as I think you understand).
Ive tried to flash my phone and stuff, but I can't download apps from market/start google talk (I know this is related to eachother) when I have a mdc rom installed. This is not really the problem I'm asking a solution for, but the real problem is, that I can't go back to my old rom and stuff. I have rooted my phone, installed CWM, made a backup, but somehow it keeps freezing at the loading screen of the phone whenever I have restored a backup and reboot the phone.
Atm I have resetted my phone with NVFlash, I have not yet innstalled anything but I still have a backup which I'd like to restore. This is my situation:
LG-P990: Android 2.2.2, Baseband 1035.21_20110315 (I updated this with Paul's update), Kernel 2.6.32.9, Build: FRG83G, LGE version: v10b.
Anyone has an idea what I'm doing wrong? Did I miss a step in the process? Please help me out!
I'm no expert, so you should probably wait for one of them, but I had a similar problem and it's important to do a wipe before installing the ROM. (There's two wipe options, run them both)

please check if the DATE in your settings is correct. the rom I had previously installed was set to MAY and this made it impossible to use gtalk and download roms.
yeah sounds silly, but worth checking
ah well since you have reset already. but maybe you get back in the same situation at one time.
Thanks for the quick replies.
@Marco_ch: I already tried the date problem, literally went thru 100 of pages to find out what the issue was with the gtalk, but nothing helped, so I'm guessing I made a mistake with the rooting or something...
I already reset, but this is the third time I've reset, I've already tried flashing my device 3 times and each time I end up not being able download apps.
@Jakkelomme: As far as I know there is only 1 wipe option? Reset factory settings? I always do that before I install a rom yes.
well I had the same problem (gtalk, market) but I gave it another shot with this:
http://romkitchen.org/lg/?s=generator
its running brilliantly on my device. have you tried that one yet?
Tried it a few days ago, when it was anotehr version, might try it again now, thanks. Which options do you suggest (I'm not that much of an expert )
Edit: Though i wish someone had a solution for me not being able to restore via CWM!
oh you dont want suggestions from me - I have that device for a couple of days only and dont even know how to properly make a backup
but I chose the following:
EXT 4
Pauls Kernel
Left out all the LG Stuff as I find it kinda useless and laggy
good luck!

Did everything you asked, installed new version of Romkitchen with the stuff you suggested... Still doesnt download appss. Still stuck at "Starting download...". Help, anyone?
Nevermind guys, I fixed it. Turned out the problem WAS with date & time. My provider made the date 12/05/'11 instead of 12/04/'11. It was why I couldnt download from the market. Thank you all for helping out anyway

[Q] Apps are crashing after flash, including Titanium

Hey folks. I'm trying really hard to get my Captivate up and running on 2.3
Here's what's going on: I was running Firefly 3.0 and decided I wanted the Rogers Gingerbread release. I flashed to stock, and upgraded to 2.2 and then 2.3 on Kies.
At this point I thought I just didn't have data because everything was crashing, so I retried flashing.
Now I have a stock 2.1, and I realized at that point that I needed to set my APN. Now I have full internet access, but a lot of my apps are still crashing.
My other issue is that no matter what I seem to try anymore, I can't get Kies to upgrade the phone or identify it's current firmware.
I believe I'm missing a component or using an incompatible component in the flash process, and although I've looked around, all accounts seem to indicate I'm using the proper methods/files.
Any thoughts would be appreciated and I'd be happy to report any requested info I can provide.
One thing to note is that I haven't tried the Master Clear function on OneClick, basically out of reservation. I'm wondering if I try that first and then move through the rest of the steps, would that clear out whatever is causing this?

Normally when I make a major ROM change, I'll flash to stock JF6, and then Master clear. Master Clear will erase EVERYTHING on your internal SD, because just a FTS will leave items from your previous installation which can cause conflicts(which is what I suspect is happening for you).
Just make sure you have backed up anything you want to keep on a external SD or on your desktop. Another thing to note, is to be careful not to restore Data in TiBu when setting back up
I'm thinking you're probably right on with that suggestion. It's been a concern of mine though that I'll lose more than personal data if I clear it out. Is this the case, or is Master Clear just going to delete any non-important junk including music, etc?

master clear will basically FORMAT the internal SDCard....
it is not necessary to do between rom flashes
it sounds like you just need to do a factory reset (try the factory reset within the settings menu)

[Q] Data partition corrupted?

My GT-I9000 got stuck in a loop, where the screen wouldn't turn on, but I could tell it was doing something because the phone was getting warmer. I couldn't get it to turn off properly either. In desperation after leaving it for ages, I pulled the battery.
Upon next booting up the phone, it "welcomed" me to my new phone, and asked me which country I was from etc. I was also met with about 20 Force Close messages.
All my contacts are gone and other data is lost. Texts are still there.
I am assuming that my data partition is corrupted, does that sound correct?
If I try to make a change to an app's settings, they mostly aren't retained on the next visit. This is true even of new apps I've tried installing. Sadly the various backups I thought I had turned out weren't as complete as I thought either.
I'm assuming the lost items are completely gone (unless anyone knows methods of recovery on data partition?)
I think I need to run an fsck / chkdsk type utility for RFS on the data partition, and maybe the others too (I'm hoping it is just file system corruption, rather than hardware failing!). I'm also assuming I would then be best wiping the partitions completely and installing a new ROM. I'm currently still back on JPY anyway, so keen to move on to something newer anyway (probably JW4). The phone is not currently rooted and not sure if it is rootable in it's current state.
So my questions:
Anyone know a way to recover anything from Data partiton in this scenario?
Anyone know which utility I can use to repair the partition file system?
Then presumably I want to do a full wipe in some way (or maybe a full zero-ing?) and then repartition, before installing a new ROM.
Any help and suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Mike
I found that there is a "fsck_msdos" tweaked by Samsung, but there appears to be mixed opinions about whether it helps or makes things worse. Any views on this?
I'm assuming I would need to be rooted to be able to run fsck_msdos on my data partition, is this correct? If so, what is the best way to root JPY?
Also, which partition sounds like the culprit:- data? dbdata? other?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Can anyone help? Any suggestions?
Thanks
Mike
Firstly, what rom are you currently using?
Secondly, does it matter if you loose all existing data?
I'm still on JPY.
I don't want to lose anything else (having already lost contacts etc), but that is just making sure I have suitable backups before I do anything.

[Q] Need help with clean install and unlocking wifi tether

I have a T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910T. Ive rooted and installed some mods and before I go further I'd really like to start from a completely clean slate just to rule out any conflicts. That said, what wipe options in TWRP do I want to use, or is reflashing the stock firmware good enough? I downloaded and reflashed the stock firmware from sammobile and it went well, but I noticed that I still have all my applications installed and everything looks the same. So, what did reflashing actually do? Did it overwrite my system files? I know I had to re-root after the flash.
Anyways, the whole point is that I'm trying to get jimmydene's unlocked wifi tether mod to work and it's still counting against my tether cap. He said it's best to start from a "clean install" and I'm not really sure what this means. Plus, I may need a stock "deodexed" ROM and I'm also not clear as to what this means even after attempting to do some research.
If someone could guide me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. First and foremost I'd like to restore my phone to complete stock like it just came out of the box, just to make sure I don't have any weird files laying around somewhere from the mods I've tried. And secondly, I'd really like to get unlocked wifi tethering to work. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Aye Aye Aye, I CAN NOT get the finger print scanner to work...+

Long story shorter. Phone stolen. Phone had nandroid stored on my computer. Phone replaced by another Note 4 (PS, thief go pound sand). Didn't mess around, stock rom to Note 4 (ANK). Root. Recovery. Old image from lost phone used as recovery. (Yeah I didn't make a backup of original from new phone). Flashed over. Everything works fine. Now ready to put finger prints in. Error page pops up saying fingerprint scanner error. 72 hours of scouring this forum, internet, MULTIPLE stock rom flashes from the oldest to NJK to ANK and COG6. Clean flash, dirty flash NOTHING works. Makes no difference what I do, cannot get the fingerprint scanner to perform. Common problem, complaints all over the internet about it but NO SOLUTIONS. I have tried everything down to deleting directories and I cannot get the damn thing to work. Seriously doubt hardware issue. *#0*# sensor heading shows finger print scanner as Null and 0.0.0.0. Deleted cache. Deleted data from TIBU and now after three days I give up. Seems everyone has the problem but nobody knows why and when they do you get a half assed or worse answer as to how to fix it. Does anybody know how to get this thing working again. Do I need to flash an apk. Where can I find it. Do I need to rebuild. ? Can anyone flash that section fingerprint free and send it to me. I am just guessing. I know crap about how stuff works, I just know how to follow directions but this one has got me stumped.
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Regards,
Freddie did not get fingered but he needs it.
You need to flash stock firmware and verify that all is stock, sometimes after returning to stock you may have a miss matching error like bootloader or modem.
After running stock run smartswitch.

Ok forgive me for my ignorance but if I run a stock firmware straight from Sammy shouldn't the bootloader and modem be part of the rom? It seems to me that doing a wipe should be like reinstalling windows, you format the drive and install the OS. There is nothing left and a complete rebuild of the file system occurs. Is this not what happens when you do a wipe in the recovery and then Odin the stock firmware? How can I be sure that when I install a stock rom everything is wiped and there is no hangers and the OS on the phone is rebuilt completely? When you say smartswitch I assume you mean the Sammy program.

Ok, I think I have found it but now I need to know how to fix it. Currently I have as follows in the about device screen:
Model SN-N910T
AHHA ------!!!!! - ANDROID VERSION 5.0
Baseband - N910TU1ANK4
Kernal version - 3.10.0-2796035 [email protected] #1 Thu Nov 13 18:01:07 KST 2014
Build number - KTU84P.N910TUVU1ANK4
So it seems the android version is wrong. Again forgive my stupidity but what exactly IS the android version. Meaning is that the baseband, the modem, what part of the stock rom is flashed wrong and where do I find that part to flash it correctly. I think I am making some progress just need input. Thanks Pp for getting me on track, now I just need a little shove to get this train rolling and maybe learn something in the process. If I fix it I then intend to write a proper write up for those lost souls out there who don't have to spend days....
So why does it say my android version is 5.0 when it should say 4.4.4?
Thank,
Freddy is getting nervous
First verify what version of the note 4 you have, Sm-N910T or Sm-N910T3 and flash proper firmware. Look under your battery.
Once you root you jumble up the phones ability to install firmware properly, and flashing stock firmware once with odin does not always secure components thus leaving you with unofficial status, "custom" and you think you went back to stock with no root but not official yet.
You need to make sure everything flashes and sticks, Model nunber, Android version, Basedand version, Kernel version, Build number.
Any of the modified components can stick and not be overwritten by stock odin flash.
Sometimes multiple flashes, or individual component flashes are required to go back to "official" stock form.
At this point you can verify that your fingerprint scanner works properly and leave it alone or proceed cautiously if root is really required ??? .
I only run stock and save myself all the headaches, I used to root back when Samsung phones where simple and less complicated without kernel security from Samsung.
I suggest latest 5.1.1 lollipop update, kitkat is primitive and outdated, you will be amazed at how well your note will run with latest firmware (with junk apps disabled).
Pp.
Here's a sample of my stock Note 4 running latest update.

Nope, I have wiped this phone a million times, reinstalled factory rom over the top of itself a dozen times, installed the baseband and bootloader separately after that and NOTHING changes it still will not work. I have read the complete internet from front to back and it seems nobody knows but the shadow.....Thanks for taking the time for trying to help me out though...
When you say wipe, do you mean factory reset?
Several resets in a row should wipe it clean. Something is stuck, could be the kernel, that will prevent a clean install.
You need to find a way to wipe partitions individually using ADB on the PC, that should allow for a clean install.

try doing this...
1st - run chainfire triangle away v3.26
2nd - boot into recovery and wipe everything 3 times except external sdcard.. especially data...
3rd - boot in download mode and ODIN whatever firmware u wanna use... 2 times...
happened to me when the note 4 first came out... I had to exchange to a new note 4...
also whenever u do a nandroid.. U MUST REMOVE ANY SAVED FINGERPRINTS... so u can use that backup again..
if u restore a nandroid with a saved frintprints, it won't work, u must delete data and start fresh..
I don't know if u messed it up by restoring a nandroid from a previous phone and with saved fingerprints stored...
will do thanks for the advice will advise
Nope, nothing I do including stock or otherwise works. When you hit +#0*# it says null and 0.0.0.0 unless someone knows something I don't, it's borked. The thing is even if I used a nandroid and it overwrote my fingerprints where the ones in the nandroid so you would think it would work. Chalk it up to who knows....thanks anyway. Still looking if anyone finds solution....
