[Q] miui and busybox

is there any way to uninstall busybox from miui milestone/a853 ?
some apps don't work if su, busybox exist
Whats the problem you're experiencing?
Busybox and su are part of every rooted rom and they should not cause any trouble.

Ok do this, lets start fresh here and uninstall that su app. Now, go to THIS thread and download supersu v1.86 and flash it in recovery. once booted go to the su app and if it happens to tell you to update the subinary, click on "normal". It will now install and tell you you need to reboot device then do just that. you should have root now, also while you're in there you can grant permission for apps too instead of prompt.

SU Binary In /system/xbin, But SuperSU Is Not Working

Besides the SU Binary In /system/xbin, what else do I need for SuperSU to function?
It keeps saying the SU binary is not installed

I was rooted on MI9 using the DLV method. I updated to NC2, and the SU binary installed by SuperSU persisted in the /system/xbin/ directory, but the SuperSU app says it is not installed. I wanted to know what, if anything, I can do with the SU binary in place to get the SuperSU app up and running again.

i am not sure there is anything you can do till we get a root exploit for nc2
yeah, i too have still have su in system/xbin on NC2, but root isn't working. it's weird, but as stated above, we probably need a new exploit or something
Are the permissions correct on the su binary? Might as well check that before we start despairing.

Yeah, I'm not allowed to set the permissions in Root Explorer without root, but it does show a preview and the permissions do match all the other files in xbin

I wonder what this means. I figure we dont need a new kind of su binary, but there must be something in the new software that blocks it from working?
I hope it isn't in the kernel. I had a Sony device last, and we needed an ever so slightly modified kernel in order to get full root on 4.3. But I doubt if we will ever be able to flash kernels.

You don't have to install another one. Maybe old version ViperFX? Make sure you use the version for Android 4.x

yes it is. i can use other apps that need's root. I can use greenify for exemple and other app to remove system apps that i don't need. All off them are working. I install the busybox and it's successful. But when I try to install the driver that Viper ask's it says: driver install failed, the busybox found on your device does not work. this usally means you installed the wrong or broken busybox.

Nope... still not working. I don't know what i'm doing wrong... I really don't want to do this by brute force. That means reinstall rom to see what is going to happen.
I'll try to install previous version from busybox. it can be incompatible or something like that.
Install sd maid app and run it to see if the busybox in your device is ok.
If this app running and don't ask from you to install busybox then it's vipers fault.

SD Maid doesn't check the devices system busybox.
Use a tool like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.rootvalidator for that.

Adaway problems on Nexus 6 marshmallow

I've researched and tried every method to get AdAway to work. I uninstalled some system apps which allowed me to install it but I cannot get past that because of the S-off warning screen.
I am rooted and bootloader is unlocked. Ive attatched a screenshot of my kernel etc
Do you have a folder called init.d in system/etc?
I have installed Adaway on at least 6 different Marshmellow ROM's with no issue.
Switch ROM and Kernels and see what happens.
Just FYI, this is a development area. You will have more luck posting in the Q&A section.
You seem to be using system less root, that's probably the issue. In the adaway thread there is a zip that must be flashed if you're using system less root.
Also questions belong in the Q&A section not dev section. I've reported the thread, a mod should move it but just letting you know for next time.

Clear all Adaway data in /settings/apps/ and try again. It should work fine as it does for me. What rom/kernel/recovery are you running?

I don't have an init.d folder as I run the stock kernel. There must be another problem.
I was facing the same problem, for every one trying to get adaway to work on android 6.0.1, follow these steps
Boot to TWRP recovery -> Mount system
adb shell
cd system
cd etc
rm hosts
ln -s /data/data/hosts /system/etc/hosts
In AdAway -> Settings -> hosts file to use is /data/data/hosts

Look in the stickies thread in general for how to root.
Usually what i do is:
Flash or boot into TWRP
Flash superuserSU
Install BusyBox
That's it as i use the stock rom, kernel and recovery. I just need root.
