I had read somewhere that 4.4.4 is defaulted to use ART runtime. Can someone install and check https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magicalboy.artchecker
ps I installed xposed framework, so now i know it forced to Dalvik. Not sure was it ART earlier or not.
Nope.
Sent from my Xperia Z1!
ART will be the default in the L release, which isn't even finished yet.

Can't ART be enabled by changing the specific runtime line in the build.prop? Or am I dreaming right now?

No. It's an option in Developer settings, but HTC, Sony, Samsung and LG removed the code for it, or buried it very, very deeply

Why can't someone prepare flashable zip for stock ROMs. I've been using ART on nexus since a while now. And even there's a way to enable it on HTC one.
Well, according to this post at BGR, it should be possible -- however, I cannot see the option to change runtime on my 4.4.4 Generic FR .108
Anyone had luck with this? Perhaps one of the other customizations?

I read somewhere that switching ART in xperia causes bootloop
I did a browse through the .108 firmware using root explorer. The ART library isn't in /system/lib. You can try switching all you like, Android just switches back to Dalvik (Yes, I tried it )

Code is not removed, it's just disabled, you can re-enable it but that is meaningless, phone will be bootloop when switch to ART.

Anyone managed to get this working on the Z? Also, did you remove the gallery app from Sony? Ran into any issues?

I use the 4.2 patched one, so I can use photosphere, it does flag up as preventing stamina mode occasionally so I force close it, but other than that works ok .
I haven't removed the semc album, no need

sorry, you didn't. But the 4.2 camera/gallery is from the original LG nexus 4 rom right? Is it working on the Z already? Is it ported? Where can i find it?

Well guys,
I spotted a new problem, confirmed yesterday night (I wasn't sure, since I updated my new Z1 even before starting to use it). My old Z1 was running 4.2.2, though it had black screen wild restart issue from the opening (I was unlucky!), the equalizer were working without problem. I also use two amps that are able to boost the bass and enhance vocals by themselves so I was blinded.
Since I updated to 4.3 build .136, I don't have any equalizer working anymore. Nor the Walkmann one, nor Noozxoide, Noor Bass Booster. Nothing seems to work. Just a moment ago I had an update for Walkmann which was useless, the problem remains.
Is there a way to fix this? I'm not rooted. I will go the root way if I can sort this out. My only worry about root is the bootloader thing, a member already answered me about this but I had not the chance to check my version nor how to keep it unlocked if already unlocked.

Well actually you should install recovery and install the zip with the sound effects fix from the Android development forum
Or else wait... Kitkat will arrive at this moment

I would like to buy the new sony smartband but since it only works on KitKat I would like to ask if I put in a unofficial rom will it work fine? What Rom is most close to stock experience but of course having Kitkat?
The problem is that the app isint out yet, and by the time it comes out, we will have 4.4.

Source? And there will not be anything near stock as theres no 4.4 sources. The best is an asop/cm ROM with a Z theme. Hope this helps!

There are many Jellybean firmwares available for the Z. Jellybean is 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 and there are several firmware versions available for each version of Android for the Z. The settings apk will be specific to the version you're running.
So I would suggest that you stop with the unhelpful comments if you don't actually know what you're talking about and remember that you're the one asking for help.
Edit - I see you didn't "accidentally delete" anything.

If you just wanted the settings apk from any rom, you should have just asked. Go and download a stock based custom rom from the development section and extract it from the zip. Make sure it's at least a 4.2.2 rom, as Dualshock support wasn't added until then.

Oh nooooo. You found me out. I was hoping someone would give me the app considering how easy it is with titanium backup. I already would have downloaded a stock based rom but its annoying and doesnt really need to be done. Howver since there are zero links to just the apk and no one is willing to share looks like ill have to download a rom and extract it. Man....thats annoying...

Ok, have the Xposed Framework installed allready for gravity box and gem xperia, will try the superuser mod. Let's see if it works!
Sent from my C6603 using XDA Free mobile app
Be warned that the "superuser mod" disables signature verification in your rom. This is a very bad idea and a huge security risk. I see this superuser mod recommended everywhere and I believe it's part of a very popular rom and nobody ever explains the risks involved with using it.
I'd advise using the Xposed module "DisableSignatureCheck" to temporarily disable signature verification when installing modded system apps and immediately enable signature verification again afterwards.
Edit - I apologise for not reading correctly (it's early here lol). I incorrectly thought you were going to flash the Superuser mod. I see that it's also part of the Xperia Xposed module.
However you enable it, it's still very important that you make sure you disable the Superuser mod after you've used it. ?

I read allready about the superuser mod few weeks ago, didn't tried it till now. I'm happy so far with my ( finally updated ) rooted clean .230 fw, LB. The widget isn't sooo important, but would be nice to have it again.
Maybe some smart guy will port the widget from 4.3 for 4.4, i'm personally not able to do this. Let's see!

Don't get me wrong. It's fine to temporarily disable signature verification to install a system app that's from a trusted source like this, then enable it again afterwards. I'm saying that it's not wise or safe at all to have it disabled permanently. ?
I just noticed another rom has been released with this superuser mod integrated, with no mention of what it is or the implications of it to enable users to make an informed decision whether to use the rom or not. There are potentially hundreds of users of these roms that are unaware that they're using unsecured roms on their devices. ?
