hello, i wanted to install the TWRP recovery.. and i used this guide: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/187 .. i got no error in the terminal and it said copied correct bla bla and i rebooted the phone.. but i still cant get in the recovery (no light bumps up on boot/shutdown) what went wrong?
now i wanted to use the XZ-lockeddualrecovery2.7.132-BETA.installer.zip but can i just use it? because i used already an other guide and i dont want to brick my phone...
and the file is named "lockeddualrecovery" why locked?
my bootloader isnt unlocked (bootloader unlock ALLOWED: yes) but why should i unlock it? what advantage my phone will get when i unlock it? i can root it, i can use recoveries.. for what the unlock? i googled.. and no one asked about this.. all want to unlock but i want to know why

go ahead with dual recovery. it won't brick your phone.
locked means it can be installed in locked bootloader.
unlocking bootloader lets you install custom roms like cyanogenmod, omnirom etc which are close to stock android something like in nexus devices.

If want to keep bootloader lock..I would go to the alternate root that is posted.. it can root frf91 and amon-ra recovery and any rom ... bootloader staying lock keeps warranty intact

you can root, and flash custom recovery and custom ROM.. jus as the same as unlockin the bootloader, only thing i know you can do with a locked bootloader is fastboot stuff but everything else would be the same... jus warranty stays on phone wiht lock bootloader
this is the alternate way i was talking about

lets say if I want: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730290

Hi guys,
I am having trouble restarting stock c6616 into recover mode?
Read so many articles, watched several videos on YT, but i cannot get it working.
Most of instruction will say TurnOff phone, turno on, wait for led and keep pressing volume up, problem is LED is not lit at all on my phone.
I also tried to reboot to recover via ADB , phone will just restart.
Any ideas?

Tried to install dual recover for locked bootloader too,.. same thing, flashed successfully (at least it was saying that) and cant do nothing.
This is my 5th Android phone, and it is biggest pain to unlock/root/flash so far.

No you can't. Custom roms like PA, OMNI, Cyanogenmod need a custom kernel. It is not possible to flash a custom kernel on a locked bootloader. You can still flash stock based roms though. If you search in the development section you will find some. They are marked with "LB"

Correct.
You can check it in service menu if you bootloader is unlockable. Open dialer and enter *#*#7378423#*#*
Go to service info > configuratoin. If it shows "bootloader unlock allowed: no" you won't be able to unlock it
Checked that! , out of luck for me :/
Ok, trying to figure out LB Rom installation instruction.
I will give a try http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/rom-existenz-v5-0-0-ultra-edition-10-4-t2349656
This one,.. i guess its most popular for xperia

Which locket dual recovery file did you use? I'm having a paint too trying to root my Xperi Z C6616 and have find little to no help. THanks in advance.
Hi, thanks for reading,
Ok so my 6903 z1, i've downgraded it to .534, rooted it, installed dualrecovery and am sitting here wondering where to go next.
I wouldn't mind unlocking the bootloader so that I could install other kernels such as pimped kernel. But reading the dualrecovery thread it seems that it is only if you are using the original kernel. So my main question is, what should i do next?
use recovery to flash a zip of a new rom then unlock bootloader then flash a supported recovery?
or should i unlock bootloader now and then new rom etc? (was concerned about the camera issue unlocking the bootloader on <4.3 roms.... will it be "fixed" if i was running on a newer "flashed via recovery" ROM?)
any help is appreciated as I don't want to bugger up the phone like i somehow managed to last time i tried all this (had the IMEI disappearing issue)
If you want to unlock the boot, there is was no need to downgrade to root
Just backup your TA, unlock the boot, flash a custom kernel of your choice then flash away
oh ok. well i've done it now. although I've just checked my service menu
First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your phone by checking the service menu. In your phone, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
In your phone, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.

and it says bootloader unlock allowed: No
So i'm guessing I randomly cannot unlock it anyway? (any reason why if that is the case?)

If that it saying then no way around to unlock your bootloader. BTW, stock kernel isn't that bad and with root you will be able to customize your room and get some tweeks.

so if i cannot unlock bootloader, does that mean i wont be able to use custom roms like Paranoid android etc which run off of CM and presumably a CM kernel?
and is it worth trying to unlock the bootloader in flashtool anyway just to see?
What options/next steps do i have then if i cant flash a custom rom due to not being able to use a different kernel?
Guess i can flash a modified stock rom and thats about it?

Unfortunately No, anything based on Custom Kernels you cannot install. Everything based on Stock Kernel you can Install, even Custom Roms.
oh bloody hell. ok so i'm now stuck in a sony logo boot loop after installing romaur v8 and installing the kernel (561) which it told me to.
any ideas what to do? guessing i'm going to have to flash the old 4.2.2 rom from scratch again
ok so now i'm back to .534 [nut] and rooted. any tips on where to go next so that i dont get stuck in another bootloop???

I thought the romaur rom Was based on stock. Ho hum. Installed the pure stock one and it was OK thanks.
In Android developement thread all roms are based on stock - in original Android developement they are based on pure android.
Bootlooping is mostly caused when flashing wrong bootbundle/kernel.

Just flash any desired custom form via fastboot and that's all, it should work.
When I unlocked my bootloader with stock firmware it doesn't boot anymore either, so I had to flash any other or reflash it again

Just flash a official FTF, then go to service menu, tests -> configuration and if your bootloader status is:
Unlock allowed: Yes - you can unlock your bootloader
Unlock allowed: No - your bootloader is hard bricked and there's no way to solve this (permanently)
Unlocked - congratulations.
I suppose your bootloader is hardlocked. check for yourself and if anything changes - quote

If you are on a custom rom you just have to flash the custom kernel over it putting the phone in fastboot . No need to unlock bootloader again. Please ensure that the rom supports the custom kernel or there can be bootloops .

The rom that you gave link to is a stock firmware based custom rom, so it will have stock kernel.
I think it must be written Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes, on your phone
You will need to unlock the bootloader, PM me I will guide you how to do it.

hi there,
if the phone says in the service menu bootloader unlock allowed no means it cant be unlocked but that means you can still install a custom rom which should say LBL rom. Follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/general/guide-flashing-custom-roms-ultimate-xsp-t2888579

If it says "no." you can't unlock it. You can install custom ROMs as long they are stated that are for Locked Bootloders. Do not attempt to flash a ULB ROM onto a Xperia SP with a LBL because it will soft brick your phone. Attempting to unlock the bootloader when the the status says "no" it's not recommendable and could hard brick your phone.

As mentioned above, if the phone says "no" or doesn't say anything at "bootloader unlock allowed:" thing, then there's no way around that. You can still get custom roms though. There are some roms that will work with locked bootloaders.
Pro tip: Always buy generic phones if you want the best from xda. Always check what you're going to buy.
