From what I'm reading from the One (M7) you'll have to run an echo command from a root shell to update the MID manually.
Do you have the output of that command?
EDIT: Found it.

You only need a root shell to run those commands. You can do it while in recovery.
FYI, for the Sprint M8, the command you'll need for our Model ID is:
Code:
echo -ne '\x30\x00\x50\x00\x36\x00\x42\x00\x37\x00\x30\x00\x30\x00\x30\x00\x30' | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 bs=1 seek=16384
The rest of the commands you should take from the thread instructions. I just noticed there wasn't a section for the Sprint variant.
fastboot oem ? is just like fastboot getvar all - you run it from fastboot. But that was just for my own edification, so it isn't important. I was just wondering if there was an easier way to set MID, like if you were running the firewater HBOOT. But I digress (since you seem unwilling to post the output).

So you a rom working but the phone apk fc's and debugging doesn't work?

Once you fix the MID, run the RUU, and you should be back to normal (hopefully).

i used this guide http://htc-one.wonderhowto.com/how-...with-bootloader-recovery-ota-updates-0148068/
changed Cid and mid to modelid: PN0712000 cidnum: GOOGL001
then flashed 4.4 via recovery update (stock recovery)
When trying to unlock from HTC dev you use the old unlock ticket or you generate a new one? Maybe the different MID/CID thing causes this error when trying to unlock

with the new one everything goes fine but the phone still says relocked, also "fastboot oem unlock" doesn't work
Weird. You said you flashed gpe firmware, yet this unlock error is caused by non compatible firmware/cid

you really got yourself in a pickle here: relocked and s-on
you said you did the full conversion? (including hboot?) then "fastboot oem unlock" should work.
can you post an updated "fastboot getvar all" (remove IMEI and s/n), and also a screenshot of bootloader.
you need to find yourself a signed ruu.exe or ruu.zip, or at least firmware, check this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2564122

Fastboot oem unlock does not work, and in recovery when I select install from phone memory the phone reboots...
1- you're not posting the most important part of the getvar (the first part, which has hboot & fw version)
2- bootloader seems GPE, so unlock should work
3- if ^^ not working, you need to find yourself a RUU that will work

I havent had much chance to look around for an ruu for you, just found some firmware packages: http://arhd.onedroid.net/db_mirror/Firmware/index.php?dir=HTC/HTC_One/1700/
would recommend you start with the lowest version, and then try "fastboot oem unlock" to see if it works. you do this in ruu mode:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip <name of firmware>.zip
fastboot flash zip <name of firmware>.zip <- yes twice
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
--> check if unlocked, if not, proceed to the next firmware and repeat.
don't have time to search for a full ruu at the moment, so i'll check later if the above doesnt work; hopefully it will.
PS: the above may give you errors (because of downgrade), but hopefully one of the GPE hboots will get through for "fastboot oem unlock" to work.

well, both ruu.exe and .zip are flashed via fastboot, the difference is that the .exe version is doing it automatically. With the ruu.zip, you have to do it manually. So if your fastboot connection doesn't work, a ruu.exe will not help.
Don't know what you mean by Y-cable, the only way to flash a ruu is from fastboot.
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip name_of_ruu.zip
fastboot flash zip name_of_ruu.zip
fastboot reboot

so whats the problem? You have s-off, you can flash anything you want (for M7_U and M7_UL).
Just change your MID/CID to whatever ruu you want to flash.
use fastboot and adb from the command prompt instead of this toolkit and make sure you have latest adb verison.
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
fastboot reboot

I wish my problem was this simple (meaning I wish I had S-OFF and superCID)...
I also have the HK model (MID: PN0740000, CID: HTC__622), but I'm S-ON (firewater whelp message). I wish to return to stock but have no backup (I know, stupid ignorant noob, didn;t read enough before modding) and RUU.exe for .708 doesn't seem to exist.
The only RUU I found is a zip for JB, same as you mentioned earlier, but it's encrypted and I can't downgrade anyway, being S-ON... Currently I'm running a stock de-odexed 5.11.401.10 from ARHD.

After a week of reading and searching, I found no solution and wanted to finally post my issue before talking to HTC. And I saw this thread, which describes my need.
If anyone has any ideas (withouth mean dev sarcasm, although deserved , they would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking putting up a reward
Thanks!
I have seen a topic about it, but the topic was not supported

One of the unexplainable problems i was facing when installing the latest stock ROM was that I was one 1.54 HBOOT and i just simply could not install the newer stock ROM.. could it be that HBOOT 1.57 is causing similar problems.. do you want to down grade to 1.56 and see if it works.. firmware - 4.19.401.9 should get you there..

How do you know that you need HTC__622 ?
and you should change MID to something normal before ruu; why do you have PN071**** anyway?

I don't know but that's the problem when I have it and I'm not comfortable with it. (I buy the machine used )
I need to downgrade it to any RUU rom and then update OTA

[Q] Need to return to stock but confused

Hi folks,
I need to return my phone for a repair however i've rooted and added a custom ROM. After reading several guides both on here and via other sites im not sure if there is actually an RUU.zip file suitable for my versions/device. I have included debug information below
Recovery: TWRP
Code:
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.55.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 4A.21.3263.04

My carrier is 3 (Hutchinson 3G). Ideally I'd like to be able to return it to stock but also still receive OTA updates.
Thanks in advance

Your already s-off so it's gonna be fairly simple to return to stock. There is no ruu for h3g be live me I know.
See this guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47794219
The files linked below may come in handy in place of a stock nandroid. But consult with the guide author first so to avoid any problems
Download 2.24.771.3 Stock reset. Flashes with custom recovery.

Your currently running HTC WWE as identified 3.62.401. firmware you will need to change back to H3G firmware to return to stock. On top of that you first need to run a complete stock ruu to guarantee all partitions are back to stock plus some of the procedure requires you to be on the lowest hboot 1.44. Just installing the reset.zip and firmware is not enough
Please bare with me I have made contact with the author of the original guide, and confirm my guru reset method will work. I will post a step by step to return your device to stock using the files I already linked.
Sent from my HTC One M7 - ARHD 81.0 Using Tapatalk
Use this guide at your own risk I will except no responsibility if you brick your device using this guide or any of the files linked in it. Always check Md5 values of files you have downloaded before flashing them to your device. This Guide and the files contained in it are intended for returning to stock on a H3G Branded M7_ul only. S-OFF is required to complete this procedure. For all other types of M7_ul Please see @nkk71 guide here [GUIDE] [02-MAR-2014] nkk71's SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock
Return to 100% Stock For H3G UK M7_ul
Download and prepare all files
Download this: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407584993 <<<Rename this to ruu.zip
Download this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/82kt3edku0j2sup/cwm.img?dl=0 <<<Leave this as cwm.img
Download 2.24.771.3 Stock reset. Flashes with custom recovery.
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-771-3-zip/ <<<Rename this to reset.zip
Download 2.24.771.3.zip firmware here
https://www.dropbox.com/s/9t5ifymw16kjljq/2.24.771.3.zip?dl=0 <<<Rename this to firmware.zip
Put all these renamed files into your adb/fastboot folder.
Step 1: go back to Sense 5 Stock
You already have correct cid HTC__001 for the RUU so well use it to return to complete WWE Stock Software
Boot your phone to the bootloader and connect fastbootusb, Now in the fastboot command line type
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
case sensitive^^^^^^
Your phone will reboot to a black screen with silver HTC logo. This is ruu mode we can now flash the RUU.
Code:
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
The first flash is just a pre-update. The screen will go off and then return to ruu mode. Flash the zip again immediately.
Code:
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
The second flash will flash the full ruu, the progress bar on the screen will not reach 100% this is normal as long as the command line has finished it's output it's done.
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
This will completely return you to 100% stock Sense 5, but European unbranded version
Step 2: Reset CID to H3G__001 <--- "__" = 2x Underscores
Code:
fastboot oem writecid H3G__001
fastboot reboot-bootloader
-> and confirm CID is back to H3G__001
Step 3: restore H3G Stock Rom + Recovery
To install the reset.zip we need a custom recovery, we dont want to flash a custom recovery so we can just boot one temporerily. This is only possible now we have hboot 1.44.
Code:
fastboot boot cwm.img
you should now be in CWM recovery; verify adb is working, by using:
Code:
adb devices
it should show an output of your device serial number followed by "recovery"
Push the reset.zip with adb
Code:
adb push reset.zip /sdcard
The push will take several minutes and the command window will seem unresponsive until the push completes. Once the push is done install the reset.zip using the clockworkmod recovery menu. In the aroma installer you will be presented with some options.
Stock recovery <<<<Yes
Stock Radio <<<<Yes
Root <<<<No
Once the install is complete
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Step 4: Remove TAMPERED (if it's there) and set bootloader to LOCKED (not relocked)
In bootloader/FASTBOOT USB, boot to CWM recovery:
Code:
fastboot boot cwm.img
you should now be in CWM recovery; verify adb is working, by using:
Code:
adb devices
Code:
adb shell
Reset Tampered – Strongly Recommend you Copy and Paste this command
Code:
echo -ne '\x00' | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p7 bs=1 seek=4265988
Reset Locked – Strongly Recommend you Copy and Paste this command
Code:
echo -ne '\x00\x00\x00\x00' | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 seek=33796
Code:
exit
Since you're still in CWM, go ahead and:
-> "wipe cache"
-> "advanced" -> "wipe dalvik"
then
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
and confirm no TAMPERED and LOCKED status
Step 6: Restore Official H3G Firmware
Boot your phone to the bootloader and connect fastbootusb, Now in the fastboot command line type
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
case sensitive
Your phone will reboot to a black screen with silver HTC logo. This is ruu mode we can now flash the firmware.
Code:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
The first flash is just a pre-update. The screen will go off and then return to ruu mode. Flash the zip again immediately.
Code:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
The second flash will flash the firmware, the progress bar on the screen will not reach 100% this is normal as long as the command line has finished it's output it's done.
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Now reboot the phone from the bootloader menu Setup the basics but DO NOT except any ota updates at this point. If your returning for warranty you need to set the phone back to s-on this must be done before you update to hboot 1.55 or you risk Tampered flag returning.
Step 7: do a factory reset and return to s-on
Go to Settings -> Backup & reset -> Reset phone (at the bottom select Erase all date) -> OK
Once thats complete reboot the phone to the bootloader connect fastboot usb then
Code:
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
reboot 3 times and make sure it doesnt say "tamper detected - rebooting" and then shows TAMPERED again
That's it you can reboot the phone and install any remaining ota updates if you want. But you are now ready to return the device for repair
Hi Danny,
Thank you very much for this guide and many apologies for the late response - I've only just seen your reply.
That said I've just checked the links you posted and unfortunately the Dropbox links are no longer available - is there any chance you could re-upload them or provide an alternative link?
Thanks

Wouldn't you remember if you ran a WWE RUU or flashed firmware and changed CID? Because yes, your fastboot getvar all results point to it not being a 3 phone. Did you buy the phone from 3, or are just using a 3 SIM card?
(just thought I'd ask the questions before you change your phone... Although going back to WWE is way easier than going to 3)

Hi Deevan,
Im glad you've pointed that out. In my pure ignorance and stupidity I totally forgot that I had actually got an insurance replacement of which was a refurbished device which is unlocked.
Where does this leave me in terms of going back to stock?

We'll if it's not the original device supplied to you by H3G there's little point switching it to a H3G branded hand set.
You should the the ruu.exe guide in nkk71's guide linked at the top of mine. What reason exactly are you returning the device to stock?

These are the important bits to remember about your phone. Look for RUUs for HTC__001 and x.x.401.x. The HTC__001 RUU is the basis of nkk71's guide to going back to stock. Because that IS your phone, you don't need to go through the extra steps of changing CID back to your original one, restoring a backup etc etc. The RUU will make your phone a factory fresh HTC__001.

Post your fastboot getvar all output, but erase your IMEI and serial number from it. That way we will be able to point you in the right direction
What a coincidence!
I'm about to "unroot" my old HTC M7 for my kid so he can play Pokemon Go on it.
It has TWRP 3.0.2-0 on it, and the fastboot getvar of it looks like this:

Hmmm rethinking this now.
Not sure if this "old" device will be able to play Pokémon Go when flashed to the original "old" ROM!
it needs Android 4.4+

This old device received officiall Android Lollipop years ago, so you'll be fine with pokemon go. I'm gonna see if I have my old h-boot stored for you when I come home from work. I think you can go directly to the last one because your phone is s-off, but I'm not sure about that because your h-boot is very old. If you can hold on for about 12 hours, I'll point you to the right direction then

Downgrade your version-main # to 7.18.708.2 using the guide at the end of this post (how to downgrade with s-on). Once done flash the 7.18.708.21 RUU using instruction of this post. Finally you'll have to take 2 ota update so you're back on 7.18.708.51 (if you need to unlock/root again make sure to install update before)

fastboot oem rebootRUU will make your phoned reboot in ruu mode (that black screen with silver htc logo). Once in ruu mode, it's time to flash the ruu using "fastboot flashing zip ruu.zip". During the flashings process you should get an error saying "flush image again immediately", the phone will reboot itself in ruu mode again and the flashing will continue,it's all normal.

If the ruu flashed fine, it's not rooted anymore. Root files are stored on the /system partition which is wiped and flashed back to stock with the ruu.

I'm about to flash the phone.
Can this all be done with TWRP, or do I need to go the ADB way?

Flashing firmware or RUU is done using fastboot commands in RUU mode, not with twrp, neither with adb.
Okay.
I've updated the firmware to 7.19.401.2

Now I've had a look at some howto's, but I'm still lost on what to do next!
I feel such an idiot :/

Now flashing the ruu using htc_fastboot.exe
Look at the stickies in the general section to find the lollipop ruu collection thread. Instructions how to flash are provided at post #1.
