..

Thank you for the guide, you really helped me.
I flashed the 03/08 Carbon ROM using the USB OTG method (because of driver issues) and it works well.

Thanks!
Had to remember my XDA login to hit Thanks! I haven't used my Grouper for some time (kids think it belongs to them). I decided to start carrying it for work and realized just how slow it seemed. I'm so thankful for resources like XDA to tell me about things like F2FS, but I didn't really know where to start. So I read about 100 pages of a dozen threads and finally found this post.
Finding your video on how to format F2FS in a step by step method really made it easy.
I don't have an OTG cable, and don't always trust tool kits, so I just used
Code:
adb push CARBON-KK-UNOFFICIAL-20140803-1733-grouper.zip /sdcard/!ROMS/CARBON-KK-UNOFFICIAL-20140803-1733-grouper.zip
&
adb push 7-29_GApps_Standard_4.4.4_signed.zip /sdcard/!ROMS/7-29_GApps_Standard_4.4.4_signed.zip
Thanks again!

Thanks to you @USBhost. Method in post #2 work perfect for me. My tablet feel a lot faster!

nice but hard to find a perfect kernel.im running liquidsmooth kitkat previouly with franco.but its kinda frustrating that it causes ramdom freezes.then i tried mkernel which was very impressive when i was using jellybean.but frustrating again cuz it causes problem of the screen out of order(not sensitive enough).after all of this i change back to the original kernel of the rom.faint

look like i need to update this for the new twrp 2.8

[ICS][.13] emwno's.kernel w/ Dual Recovery - Discontinued

Discontinued
TWRP Version: 2.4.3
CWM Version : 5.5.0.4
E Kernel Version: Build 3 - U2
Presenting the first Dual Recovery Kernel for Arc/S and Pro. Your warranty is now void bla bla bla. I'm working on bringing TWRP to ICS based kernels (not cm9) and have been successful, worked on this alone for hours. Thankyou to @Rachit Rawat for allowing me to use some ramdisk files from his sources and Teamwin for creating TWRP. Ill write the rest of the thread later on. Both of the kernels are attached. And for those wondering, yes its been reported to be fast, pretty responsive with great battery life.
To use TWRP hit the volume down button when the led lights up pink. And to enter CWM hut the volume down key at the next led light up and vibration.
Note: TWRP and CWM are not the same when backing up or restoring, you will not be able to restore ones backup from another.
What works:
Twrp
Cwm
Flashing
Backup
Restore
Mount device partitions
Mount external partition
Boot
___________________________________
What Doesn't Work:
ADB sideload (twrp)
___________________________________
Whats There:
Init.d support
CWM
Built with Linaro
TWRP
Newest .13 kernel sources from Sony
Many Governers / IO schedulers
Overclocking support
Cache Compresion

Build 2
TWRP updated to 2.4.1
Attempted fix for adb issues with twrp (need to test)
Fixed specific partition layouts (twrp)
Build 1
Xperia Arc/S boot
Official public release
Fillers added
Update 2
Removed fillers
New init.rc
Pro boot fixed
Modified mount points (pro / arc)
Arc/S still no boot
Update 1
Initial beta release
Much not working
Old stuff. not required.
Since I've got the 2nd post, let me point out the things which are working / not working in TWRP:
Working:
Flashing zips
File Manager
Backup (Haven't tried Restore)
Terminal Command (Little buggy keyboard)
Not Working:
ADB Sideload via TWRP
ADB and Mount USB Storage
(Bug) Aroma Installer works only half screen
A note on backup:
If you got any issue while making a nandroid backup, download the attachment, extract the file and move it to /sdcard/TWRP
If the check-box of .android_secure does not get displayed in Backup menu, go back and enter Mount Menu, unmount SD Card and mount it again. Go to Backup menu again and select Refresh Sizes. .android_secure will be visible now.

test on my Xperia T mod by zohaib0001
Boot successful! :good:
Testing other things now.
BTW, the /vendor partition is not /system/vendor. Need to modify init.semc.rc or else people will have issues with sound enhancements.
Vermagic string is indicating Serene-ICS!
EDIT: Damn, this thing has dual recovery! :cyclops:
Is this dual boot ? After I install modules(1).zip, after i touch 'reboot system', I end up in cwm again.
But after i reboot system (from that cwm menu), its back to TWRP again when i press vol down.
Anyway.. the wifi works, so far no facing problems. no bootloop etc.
In the info, it's still serene kernel.
* Kinda not used with this touch screen menu in twrp .
Nice work mate.

Yeah itll say that. I needed the .13 kernel as I wanted to base it on that, was away from my pc so I asked Rachit Rawat if I could use some files from his source and kernel. Its not supoosed to go into dual boot, may have added them by mistake to the new update. (Too early)

he changed the update script. the official cm flashable zip checks for the codename "p880". since its not the correct codename for our phone ("x3" is correct) and all our recoveries use that codename "x3" its not flashable. what he did is changing "p880" to "x3" in the update script (in the first line) or he completely removed that check
Wasn't easier to just use the official CWM from the CM team? Unless you use twrp ofcourse

Restore the backup you made in step 2, install newest official CWM via ROM Manager (download it from play store if you don't already have it) then boot back into CWM and install CM again.
---------- Post added at 08:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:37 PM ----------
Also I honestly don't see any real benefit to this thread when installing official CWM solves the status 7 issue and allows for OTA updating of CM instead of having to wait for the OP of this thread to upload a fix every single day...
argh

I was afraid you were gonna say that! You can still boot into CWM though right? If you can, and your computer has an SD slot, just take out your external SD card and put it into an adapter and put the fixed version from this thread on that, then you can just install it from the external SD in CWM.

[RECOVERY] TWRP 2.6.0.0 touch recovery

Key Features:
Ability to save custom recovery settings
Default partitions to back up
Default zip folder location
Default color theme (lots to choose from) (Thanks to ffolkes!)
Default Time Zone (for more accurate time stamps)
Zip Signature Verification
Zip md5 Verification (looks for file with zipname.zip.md5)
Ability to flash multiple zips in one go
Ability to select which individual partitions to backup, and restore.
Ability to choose compression or no compression backups.
Compression takes longer of course, but you save roughly half the space. EVO3D's stock system uncompressed is ~800mb, 380mb compressed. You choose.
Ability to auto restore GAPPS on zip flash (for CM based ROMS)
Ability to auto reboot after successful flashes (for the lazy)
Some devices utilize their capacitive buttons in recovery.
Home - Main Menu
Menu - Advanced Menu
Back - Up a Menu Level
Search - Select Current Selection
Battery Level and Timestamp (Better safe than sorry)
What's new in 2.6.0.0:
Can encrypt a backup to prevent theft of private data from your backup files
Updated graphics / icon courtesy of shift
Updated exFAT to latest commits
Fixed a problem with Samsung TouchWiz decryption
Update SuperSU binary
Fixed saving of backup partitions list
Fixed saving of last used zip install folder
Fixed backup of datadata on devices that use a separate partition for datadata
Fixed some issues with the advanced wipe list (android_secure, can now wipe internal storage on data/media deivces and wipe data on the advanced list no longer formats the entire data partition)
Fixed some problems with partitioning a SD card
Various other bug fixes and tweaks
Special Note: If you are running a custom theme, some of the changes in 2.6.0.0 will likely not be visible with your custom theme.
What's new in 2.5.0.0:
Added scrollable partition lists for mount, backup, restore, wipe, and storage selection
Add new SliderValue GUI element for selecting brightness and screen timeout (thanks to Tassadar)
Re-work AOSP and TWRP code to improve license compatibility between GPL and Apache
Added official theme for 1080x1920 portrait devices (HTC DNA, HTC Butterfly, Oppo Find 5, Sony Xperia Z, etc)
Fixed a problem with directory permissions on split archive backups
Fixed a problem with md5 verification of backups
Added a search function to libtar (thanks to kokotas)
Improve handling of XML errors (fix permissions)
Fixed handling of subpartitions
Improvements to recovery.fstab flags
Fixed a problem with decryption not being able to locate the decryption key in some situations
Special Note: If you are running a custom theme, the changes in 2.5.0.0 will likely not be compatible with your theme.
What's new in 2.4.3.0:
Fixed 2 bugs related to restore, one dealing with mknod failures (by bigbiff) and one dealing with restoring hardlinks (by Dees_Troy)
NOTE: If your backups weren't restoring correctly in earlier 2.4.x versions they should restore correctly now. Hopefully you didn't delete those backups. If you're still having problems, run the restore, go to advanced and copy log, then give us the log. Complaints without logs will be rightfully ignored.
Added a scroll bar to file selectors and listboxes courtesy of Tassadar
Added libblkid for more accurate detection of file systems and can now detect exFAT properly thanks to bigbiff
Added a screen dim effect 2 seconds before screen off on some devices
Finally fixed file selector crash (one of the joys of working with multi-threaded software)
Fixed loading of screen timeout setting during startup
Improvements and bugfixes to screen timeout code
Fixed persistence of the 24 hour / military time setting
HTC Dumlock Instructions:
Install the build of TWRP using your method of choice, but you must actually flash TWRP to recovery. No fastboot booting it. We need it in recovery so that this build of TWRP will be flashed to your boot. This new build of TWRP has features in it to easily restore your original boot.
Reboot into recovery.
Make a backup of your phone.
Tap Advanced.
Tap HTC Dumlock. (If you don't see HTC Dumlock then you need to remove any custom TWRP theme that you might be using.)
Tap Install HTC Dumlock. This will install the app and binaries needed to make everything work nicely.
Reboot your device.
Find and open the HTC Dumlock app.
If/when prompted, give the app root (SuperUser) permissions.
Tap the Execute HTC Dumlock button.
Wait patiently for a couple of minutes. It takes a little while.
If your device doesn't reboot automatically, reboot it manually. Reboot it normally. DO NOT reboot it to recovery.
You should now be in your recovery, but your recovery is flashed into boot.
Tap Advanced.
Tap HTC Dumlock.
Tap Restore Original Boot.
Use your recovery like normal. Flash a new kernel. Restore a backup with a different kernel. Do whatever you please!
Consider donating!
Note, you must repeat steps 8 through 17 EVERY TIME you need to flash boot.
Installation:
Unlock bootloader at http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
Turn phone completely off.
Boot into HBOOT then Fastboot
Erase cache from fastboot before flashing recovery. Use command "fastboot erase cache"
From fastboot. Use command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
Downloads:
http://goo.im/devs/Flyhalf205/MYSTUL/Recovery//openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-mystul.img
Root:
To gain root on stock rom. Flash recovery in fastboot then flash this inside of recovery. There are two root programs. Superuser and SuperSU. Both are listed.
Superuser - http://download.clockworkmod.com/superuser/superuser.zip
OR
SuperSU - download.chainfire.eu/supersu
PC USB Mass Storage:
You can't! http://teamw.in/DataMedia
This version of TWRP has OTG-USB support also. Enjoy

Easy fix. I'll put a new build out later.
New build is up if anyone can test and make sure graphic works?

It's looking better, but the colors are off, and it's duplicated along the X axis. However, if I let the recovery sit long enough to turn off the screen, when it turns back on, it then looks correct (blue and not duplicated).

Forgot to mention that this recovery is able to mount /sdcard and see the contents of it, so hopefully that helps you to improve the clockwork recovery to match.

Another easy fix It's building CWM right now with the fixed internal sdcard fix then I'll build the fixed TWRP.
New build of TWRP is up. Should be completely 100% to go now...
Man, I swear I love you lol. I was just checking the First/AT&T One section and bam. You pop up with the recoveries! My toolkits will be going this way, thanks to you!

Works good. I had a bunch of issues trying to boot any recovery earlier. But fastboot erase cache made it work. So its similar to the HTC One. Maybe put that in OP so you can avoid the questions.

Thank you! I'm already using Tkkg1994's moded version but I guess you made some updates and improvments on it.
gonna flash it later.
edit: No freezing while changing time zone and language. Working really smooth. I think it's also faster while getting back-up and creating diggest.
Adding it to my signature since many people asking about mount data problems on custom rom threads. Once again thank you for the great work.
is there quota support like tkkg1994-version?
I flashed this version and everything went ok but i only noticed that battery level is always lower in twrp but not a big deal, thanks.

Yes, android 8.1 means the twrp base, not what rom it works for. it works perfectly on pie roms

Is there a way to make TWRP settings permanent? It reset to default after some time. (It's like that with official one too) also anychance to have it without Official TWRP app? I uninstall it but after 1st recovery boot it comes back again. Have to keep it disabled.
The settings for twrp saved in internal sdcard... Don't delete the TWRP folder

You can't if you wipe internal storage, plus theres an option to uncheck installing twrp app in the recovery.

This worked like a charm. I can read internal partition over magisk now. But I'm getting an error while making a backup. the recovery says "E: recv error on uevent". this error does not interrupt the backup progress and the backup can still be completed but its an error I keep getting.

Storage is partially fixed now.
For MTP, I compiled the kernel without Samsung MTP and it's Kinda working... adb can detect it now, but it still now showing on my computer
I need to add a proper init stuff for it
i was able to fix mount sdcard but i couldn't fix data im working on it
The encryption is really annoying
That was the best i could do. Data mounting is not working because of encryption. I couldn't find the key directory of the encryption. But you can flash from external sd.

+1 would like to know too as the current root method patching boot.img with Magisk, you have to press power and volume up every time you restart the phone to keep root.
Thanks for the recovery. I have a question. Can I simply flash this via odin (no stock firmware download required) and it will work? I'm asking because in the other twrp thread there is a requirement of downloading and flashing stock firmware. The firmware for my region hasn't released yet.
