My friend has Samsung S3 Galaxy (i9305). He tried to root (don't know which ROM he chose or which guide he used to perform the task). Something went wrong and he unrooted. But now the SIM is not found anymore. The phone boots anyway. Network is also not found and no emergency calls can be made. The phone also locks up every now and then.
What should he do to restore the phone to it's original state? Which guide should he follow?
I can provide more info if needed.
He has flash the phone with the original Samsung firmware for his one's model. Simple factory reset won't work. He has bricked the phone.
Check Sam's mobile for the firmware and simple Google will explain the steps. It's basically same has flashing any custom rom after rooting a phone
Cheers

Thx! So should he now do the "Recovering IMEI And Data Connection After Flashing WRONG Root Package Intended For I9300" part?
Any sim card not found related points are covered there... Just follow that..

Hi all, just got redirected from my previous post. I post:
"I recently just ordered a brand new Uk Orange locked N7000.
I love the look of Stunner ROM, yet wondering if it's okay for me to:
1. Back up /efs
2. Root
3. Mobile odin > flash Rom.
4. Get "Galaxy Unlock" app from market to unlock my phone *as I read it only work with rooted phone*
Will doing this, with an orange sim inside, without unlocking to GSM, cause any problem during the process?
If I can help it, I would love to avoid paying for £20 for unlock code. However, if that seem to be a better choice, please suggest me so.
Any helps are much appreciated.
Cheers again

1. back up your EFS using EFS Pro.
2. it's OK to root your device. Go here for detailed instructions.
3. once you're rooted you can flash Roms either via Mobile Odin or ClockWorkMod Recovery (do a forum or Google search).
4. you can try to unlock your phone using Galaxy S Unlock, but it's an invasive and somewhat dangerous procedure, so I'd advise against it.
Thanks you chasdomo for the quick and really helpful reply.
Does this mean flashing a carrier-locked note won't cause any problems as long as I have the carrier-sim [In my case an Orange sim]? (Because I read somewhere before, mentioning that some carrier-locked device will only function with their provided system; after flashing the device to a custom ROM, it remain locked in emergency mode -even with the proper sim inside; like- does rooting and flashing render an official sim useless somehow?)
P/s: I'm extremely sorry for bad English.
Hi folks!
Sorry for the post (I know it has probably been asked before) but I could not find the answer by seaching so I have to ask again...
My friend has a Galaxy S with stock german T-Mobile software on (he does not know the version). He has forgotten his unlock pattern and the phone does not recognize his Gmail login! He has accepted the fact that his data is probably lost but when I boot the phone into bootloader and select a factory reset the handset is still locked when booting up again?
I have never encountered that problem before so I really hope you know the solution I am a WP7 man myself so my knowledge of Android is basic (know how it works but have never tried to flash new firmware etc.)
/Anders
Boot into dl mode and flash an unbranded stock fw using Odin. You'll find many tutos on how to do that.

factory reset will not work, you can use ADB , How to guide on My Android Collections link below, or flash a kernel or do the whole thing as Dark Knight suggested earlier
Hey Guys
Sorry if this question has been asked before. I've searched all over but not found any solution though.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830V. I previously bricked it and restored stock firmware and now when i turn on my device it says Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830I. The problem with this is that i now wanted to unlock my phone and when i use the Vodafone Unlock Tool (found by searching "vodafone unlock tool") and when i enter the unlock code into the Network Unlock thingy it says "Network Unlock Unsuccessful". I think that the problem is because the unlock tool says its for GT-S5830V and my firmware has changed to GT-S5830I. Please, does anyone know where to find the stock firmware for GT-S5830V or is there a way i can FULLY restore my phone to when i bought it instead of just wiping all the apps off (because all it does it wipes all the apps off and doesn't actually "restore to factory defaults")
Please correct me if my understanding of the problem is wrong and if somehow i can get my hands on another unlock code without paying some weird "unlock your phone here" website.
Thanks in advance

I tried doing the solution on that link and it didn't work. so i clicked on the link that was on that post that said improved method and i got everything right until the hex editing where the hex search didn't work so i couldn't find the code.
Does anyone else have any ideas? I had to pay another $20 on vodafone so i can still call and text so at the moment my new sim is just a waste of money so i desperately need a solution.
Thanks again for your attempt at helping and your quick reply:good:

Bro, did you run Install after you installed BusyBox on your device? You should check the comments from the site. Most of guys who didn't open the BusyBox app and run Intall received this error. While doing a full Install solved it. Do post your result. Hope I helped

Of course i clicked install after. I ended up getting pro version to install smart install to ensure no problems and it didn't work.

Try to follow this video. As per the video, if you get "or or or" error, run Smart install again on BusyBox. If that doesn't work, I also found a site on the comments of this video. It seems the site unlocks any phone & it's free cause they run on user donations. I have no personal experience with this site, so use at your own caution.

I think that when you re-flashed the rom from brick the phone got network unlocked. Did you try another sim before trying to unlock it?

Yes i tried with Amaysim.
I got a reply from Vodafone and they supplied me with a master reset code. I followed the method provided and when I entered the reset code into the phone keypad, it said "Mobile Network not Available". I guess I just have to take it to Vodafone to get it unlocked. Will they unlock a rooted phone or will they not accept it? If they wont then i can just unroot it.
Guys I found a confusing solution. While on my way to Vodafone I unrooted my device just in case they didn't allow rooted devices. Once i got there the guy must of thought i did something wrong with the unlock code so he decided to get the unlock code for me. Once he got the unlock code he switched the sim cards to enter the code but strangely we were not prompted to enter the code and the sim just worked. I rooted my device again to see if that was the problem and I was prompted to enter the unlock code so it was so i unrooted it again. But unfortunately nothing seems to go right for me now and now I can only connect to wi-fi if my device is rooted. If i try to connect while unrooted it will attempt to obtain the ip address for a while until it gives up and says the network is disabled. Does anyone happen to know a solution to this problem?
Thank you to everyone who tried to help
Reflash the stock rom with odin and remod it.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Hi,
I don't know why this happened. My phone is rooted but just randomly stopped working. It wasn't because of any flash. All I had done was root it about 5 months prior and was still on stock firmware. But now I have no signal. Here is what I have done.
1. Bought new sim board.
2. Flash the parambin file.
3. Tried to the qpst method to use nv reader to manually enter my imei. But the drivers won't work. Always has an ! point next to devices in device manager. Read, could be because I have the international version.
4. Tried flashing 2-3 other modems.
5. Updated to 4.4.4
6. Flash a file EFS_N7100XXND3_KH435987_REV05_user_low_ship to supposedly reset imei. Now I am just in factory mode.
7. Bashed head on desk.
Phone is out of warranty and there are no service centres near me. I really don't want to buy a new phone because I am saving for baby stuff.
Thanks in advance,
Tried efs pro,
It backed up efs, but on restore odin flash fails and soft bricks phone.
Try CM?
Why you don't try CM11 ROM? You only need to replace the bootloader, all well explained here:

Hi. I am in the UK and have the first gen moto x. i was dicking around with roms etc and i ended up accidentally erasing internal storage. I managed to the get the phone back to how it was apart from the fact that it cannot make calls, text, get 3g signal. it is essentially a small tablet. when i use the dialler code to show the imei number it is 0. i tried reinstalling modems etc and none have worked. i have tried differnet roms and even flashing lollipop. I am wondering if the modems files i am using are not working because they are US files and I need some kind of EU file? Idk.
I had my imei written down so i was going to try and change it to that on the phone but engineer tools does not open or even seem to exist on the phone. i cant try using the stock rom etc because it is on a site (something like sbf developers ) that says it is forbidden. i literally have tried everything. can anyone help? :crying:

Hey! If you've installed a US ROM, you are using the wrong baseband files to access your service provider network ( XT1053- US ; XT1052- UK)
Try installing an XT1052 based rom and report back . Also, be careful while flashing your new chosen ROM. Ensure that it does not downgrade / modify your current bootloader as you may end up bricking your phone (since you've upgraded to LP)
Best of luck mate .

Strange . Do elaborate as to what rom you are flashing and which rom you are currently using (The one that has a problem).
Also, are you wiping the system before flashing ?

Hi again. i googled xt1052 rom and found a few. the one i tried was cyanhacker(obviously based on cm). after i got that error i tried editing the updater script to skip over the process in which it checks what device it is on. after that it appeared to flash successfully but when i tried to boot it showed the bootloader unlocked screen, vibrated then restarted and just kept doing that bootloop.

1. Please download the correct ROM for your device from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/official-collection-firmwares-fxz-sbf-t3146628
2. Head over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/guide-moto-x-return-to-100-stock-using-t2446515 and follow the Instructions. CAUTION: If you decide yourself for manual flashing DO NOT PASTE THIS CODE:
Code:
fastboot oem config carrier vzw
Or you'll end up, like me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/carrier-retail-devices-t3174988
In case I could help you with some guidance, I would be happy, if you could help me, in my thread.
