After rooting
Mine use to be @25640 after rooting it's running @17680
Any suggestions on what to do or what to use?
Did yours drop too?
SAMSUNG-SM-G900A, with 128gb SD & Rooted.

Just ran it got 25267 , root makes no difference, maybe you have some app running in background or something.

I checked says I am running at like 1.7 not 2.5 any suggestions to turn it back up?

Greenify shouldn't affect it, but power saving mode limits you cpu speed

I did not want to use power saver or other power saver after rooting... just in case... I went into apps and forced closed a bunch and rebooted... now back up to 23268

The nook color looks like an amazing little device.

I'm thinking about getting one and just using it as an android tablet.
I wouldn't be surprised if it ran honeycomb quickly with a 1ghz overclock

No problem. I used this http://nookdevs.com/NookColor_Rooting to root. And I use this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925451. I'm using 1.1ghz eclair and this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932145
I'm on the same boat as the OP. Can't decide between the Nook and the Viewsonic G tablet. How stable are the 2.2 roms on the Nook? I watch streaming live sports on my Streak and Nexus S a lot so flash is a must have for me.

Honestly it's pretty bad. Running it off of a SD card is dirt slow for me compared to my Incredible, and lots of people are bricking their nooks trying to run off the emmc.
Plus, we have no hardware video acceleration at all in Froyo. Youtube doesn't work either.
My hopes are hanging on Cyanogenmod 7. If it doesn't come out before my return period is up, I'm afraid I may be returning the nook.

on a class 6 sd card, i scored a 1560 quadrant on sd booted nookie. Thats not overclocked either. My best on stock rooted eclair with 1.1 ghz was just under 1200. Thats a big difference. Flash and youtube worked. Maybe you are trying to run it off a class 2.
It works fine.

Quadrant score has nothing whatsoever to do with the inherent latency or slow speeds of even a class 10 sd card compared to internal flash. Its flat out sluggish in comparison.
I haven't ran froyo on anything better than a class 4 sd card. I wound up back on 2.1 on internal memory. It was just a little too laggy. I'm currently working on getting it on emmc. I was shopping around in the $300 range right before christmas and the nook was the best option for an android toy. Prices may have changed on others since then, but the nook hardware is really nice besides lack of bluetooth. Price vs what you get I don't think it can be beat.

it really depends, it runs fast off the emmc (internal memory, if you didnt know) or a class 6 or class 10 micro sd, but if all you have is a class 2 or 4 its near impossible to use...
if you wait a couple of weeks the CM7 rom (android 2.3) should be completed... i cant wait!

a huge part of quadrant is the i/o of storage, so wouldnt a faster card result in a higher score (and therefore faster device?)

Yes, but the increase in score between a class 2 and class 10 card is miniscule compared to even overclocking just 100mhz. Try it yourself. The difference in speed from a class 2 card to a class 10 card is a few mb/s write speed. The difference in write speed between a class 10 card and the internal flash is likely an order of magnitude or so. Of course we can't know for sure until we can benchmark the emmc, but this would be consistent with the performance of other devices.
Regardless, froyo on a SD card is not as fast as I need it to be, period. I hate using a device when I "outrun" it - I don't like waiting around for softkeys to pop up, etc.
Back to Stock
Having a screen related issue with my NC, and I just wanted to confirm before shipping it back that all I have to do to return it to the stock 2.1 install + standard recovery is do the 6x interrupt.
Are there any steps I am missing?
I'm running the 1.0.1 NC interface, 1.1Ghz OC, and Zeam interface over it. It's very fast and feels native. I see no reason to boot from an SD card when I have the "android interface" essentially anyways.
However I cannot play any video other than H.264 SD. (and no hulu/netflix yet of course)
I have been running Nookie Froyo on the EMMC for a while now and have been getting Quadrant scores in the 1400-1500s every time. Just follow all the info on http://nookdevs.com/NookColor:_Nookie_Froyo_Tips and you will be fine.

You know in the last 24 hours I really focused on this, as opposed to doing the whole Froyo thing.
Wow. Now I really enjoy this thing. Lack of flash is a big issue, but honestly using button savior instead of softkeys and getting updated to 1.1 have made this a fantastic daily use tablet.
I'm running stock, 1.1.0, Zeam, Dolphin HD and loving it. No Flash, but that doesn't really bother me. Can handle movies, YouTube, Angry Birds, web browsing, every eReader format and service, and my favorite news reader - Pulse. Started using Calibre and Aldiko for a ton of additional news sources for train reading. Got a ton of other apps as well, and in my opinion there is no noticeable lag in anything I do on the Nook, but I mostly love it as a hugely capable reader. Great device!

Yeah, nice. I did have to go to Dolphin 4.2 to get pinch-zoom to work. The latest (4.3) doesn't work.
Today I tried that bootable honeycomb. It's slick looking.. but not fast yet. With 1.1Ghz and 1.0.1, I'm hitting about 1200 on the bench mark. Fine.. I just really wish we had video acceleration for video OTHER than h.264. I don't "read", but bought this to play with. If i'm out and about, i use my iphone to tether the NC.

Extremely poor performance on stock. Help please?

Hi everyone. I have never rooted my Bionic, but have always been disappointed in my performance. I bought it on launch day and just stuck with it, and it has been a huge disappointment ever since.
Well, I think I may have come across a reason for the disappointment. I ran the benchmark test Quadrant.
My first run? 1700.
My second? 1200.
I said, whoa, hold on a minute, people were getting 2200-2500 on stock when the thing launched.
So I did a factory reset, and after the last three runs of Quadrant I'm getting about 1400.
Something is seriously wrong. I installed CPU spy and nothing seems too out of the ordinary. Yet these scores are worse than the Nexus S, and that's just crazy. I know the Bionic is a better phone than that.
Is there a hardware problem with my phone causing these low scores? What do you think I could do to fix this?
Which version are you on?

5.9.905, which is the latest OTA firmware.
I just ran it and got 1465, and I've noticed that my Bionic has gone to hell lately. Poor battery life and overall poor performance. I would love help with this!
Edit: Using CPU Spy I found that when my phone isn't in deep sleep, it spends the large majority of its time at 300mhz, almost no time at 600 or 800mhz, and a small amount of the at 1000mhz that is significantly less than the time at 300mhz. Is the problem that my Bionic for some reason is getting stuck at a lower speed?

Well there are 3 things that could be contributing to this; your microSD, your choice of apps, and/or not using your built-in task manager to stop apps that are wasting memory.
But it's worth noting that Quadrant Standard won't show you the individual scores, so it is a poor tool for diagnosing problems. I suggest that you also not go by other peoples scores. They may be using mods that you aren't.

As I said in my post, I did a factory reset. Everything was wiped off the internal storage. No rogue apps. The only thing installed was the benchmark itself. I also tried the benchmark without the microSD to no avail.
And also, the scores I have read have been from day one purchasers of Bionics on stock. I ignore anything that does not specify that it was achieved on stock, and everything I have seen has been 2000+.
There is no reason my Bionic should be scoring 1400 and lower.
You should root your phone, it gives you things you wouldnt have dreamed of!
Don't know what to tell you...just got a 2683 in Quadrant on. 2333 ICS leak on my Bionic (though mine was bumped to.1.2Ghz with the leak).
Total 2683
CPU 3770
Mem 3008
I/O 3145
2D 1000
3D 2414

After the factory reset, when you logged in to your account, did you log into more than one?
Also, was it by chance downloading things like mail in the background? Try disabling all sync and even putting it in airplane mode and then see.
Also, how much charge on your battery? Remember that stock BIONIC settings also have that delicious night mode settings as well....

[Q] Performance Issues

I purchased a new prepaid T-Mobile Note 4 from BestBuy few days ago. Today I have noticed that when I run benchmarks, I am getting very low scores. On Antutu, I am only getting around 26000, but sometimes I am getting the normal scores i.e, 46k. Even when running other benchmark applications, I noticed that I was getting only around half scores but sometimes I am getting normal scores.
I don't understand this strange behaviour. Is my phone defective ? Should I return it ?
P.S: I have not rooted this phone. I tried a factory reset, and there is no power saving mode turned on.
Does the phone feel slow? Is it heating up under normal use?
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Premium HD app
The phone is OK and gets heated up at times. Yesterday I played MC5 for about 15mins it was okay, but sometimes while running benchmarks it gets heated up
Can someone help me my phone feels absolutely normal but my benchmark scores are not that good.... Really?
Stop benchmarking phones I keep telling people that.. Not everyone phone will perform the same as long as it feels nice and snappy you should be all set
Some people have loaded hundreds of apps on to their phones, which can affect performance.
Do you have a lot of apps? How's your free space?
I wouldn't really rely on benchmarks as the sole indicator of performance. That being said, is the phone laggy? You said it performs "OK" but one person's idea of OK can be quite different than the next persons idea of it.
Also, where did you purchase the phone from? There's quite a few fake Note 4's floating around. If you purchased it through your carrier, go ahead and request a swap.
Do you have on power saver mode?
Best buy sells note4 for TMOBILE? Hmmmm by me they don't support any TMOBILE.

I know benchmarks are not an indication of performance, but atleast there should be some consistency, right ? Sometimes, I get normal scores similar to other Note 4 devices as expected. But sometime I get HALF the scores or much less than older devices, something which is not expected out of this device. So I doubt is there anything wrong my particular unit ?

Yes they are selling a prepaid No contract Note 4 locked to T-Mobile network. I got it for 699. Now it is out of stock though ! And yeah, it is indeed a bad ass PHONE !!
Majority of benchmarks put so much load on processor that after few minutes it heats up, overheat protection kicks in and slows down cpu. If you run few benchmarks one after each other then phone has no time to cool off. There is some roms available on xda which modifies how long you can run on full speed and higher temperature until cpu slows down.
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
A modified kernel is the only thing that will allow you to adjust thermal throttling. Hoever i do not recomend adjusting theses settings, this will damage your cpu. Thats what the thermal governor is for.
Oh, yeah. When I got my N4, the benchmarks sucked! Slower than my S3! Rooted, put on a custom ROM and it's all good. No heating, nothing. Even went back to Stock when the update came...and it was still good. Not sure, what was wrong...or what happened from Stock to Custom to Stock...

Overheating should be reduced. Lollipop you will have to odin stock firmware or if you made a back up of stock rom with a stock kernel.

You must have your power saving mode turned on mistakenly...check. I know this 43k score on 910C on LP comes under power saver option. If not then give device a restart and let it cool for 15 mins and run Antutu

Benchmarks count for nothing, nada, not a thing in the real world.
Never been sure why people are obsessed by benchmark score, @ OP wanna enlighten us?
Bench scores are not reliable, yes. However let me tell you it is a good indicator of when there is a problem. This guy here with a 43000 score has a problem with his phone. I many times was able to detect issues by these scores. It kind of like your car, when you gas milage starts going down you know theres an issue. Again I do understand the unreliablity of them but it is not how people here say, that its like pulling a slot machine and ya get what ya get. There is some real scoring here. I can tweak my ram or cpu and watch the score go up. Now does it mean that cuz one guy gets 49,000 and another breaks 50,000 that the 49 guy should return his phone. Absolutely not. But to say those scores mean absolutely nothing I have to disagree.
And it is laggy as hell like KitKat..

Even if you do that, there will be no performance gain. SD card is too slow for that purpose. Motorola did it the wrong way. They made a great device but didn't put in enough RAM to make it use its full potential.

You can root your phone easily... just watch this video
And using SD card as RAM is not a good idea, SD card is too slow to be an active RAM memory

You can use greenify and task killers to free up RAM. I know people say its not a good idea but it seriously works for this phone. It has too low RAM for Android to be able to handle it properly. It lags like hell without greenify and task killers.

I am using that workaround from starting. Even also sometimes very slow and don't respond, that time have to restart the phone.
Whatever the high RAM, after 2 years Android gets slow.

Yeah true that. And I guess we can't do anything about that.
