Hey all.As the title says,i have been experiencing video playback problems. When I play any video it lags a lot.
I have tried other video players as well like mxplayer but the problem also occurs.I was using stock. 205 by dipesh and today i flashed existenz ultra 4.0 but the problem still persists.
Thanks.
Local video on the phone, or remote video online?
I find mxplayer with custom codec playes everything I try, including 1080p60 files.
Both.Even in facebook app,video lags a lot

Try Dice Player from play store, it comes with all codecs and will stream good video either offline or online really awesome player.
RAM related?
How much free RAM do you usually have when doing nothing with your phone?
Problem is fixed itself.I don't know how but it is fixed.

Sorry for starting a new thread, but I searched and couldn't find answers.
I'm trying to play 720p mkv files and they are all stuttering in my CM7 kang and etana kernel. Youtube 720p videos are ok, but the only way I could find to play my files was converting then to 640x480 (someone wrote that in some thread).
Is there any other way to play these files?
Maybe not enough ram. Tuurn off some apps

which player are you using? Try using MX Video Player or Mobo player.
Try bs player lite

I've tried all them, but have no luck. Do you really can always see any kind of 720P?

The built-in player (and all other players usig "hardware acceleration") works for some videos, for some others software-decoders work (mx player has a pretty good one).
BUT, you will not be able to play everything on this phone. "Hardware decoder" only supports up to a certain specification and "software decoding" is limited by the processor (overclocking might help a _little_ here).

Weird, I have same rom and kernel right now, plays ok even in HDMI the only problems this have is with 1080p with high profile, or some main (see bitrate), simple profile plays good.
when i play 720p mkv files i get a little stutter and audio-video sync problems. A 720p mp4 files plays perfectly though.
hi
First of all i want to say that i don't wana to use players like bsplayer, dice player or mx player.
I want to watch a movie in built-in player or m video player.
The thing is that these movies are working good on stock 2.2.1.
And one time is working for me on 2.3.6 (but i forgot on what rom and now i can't find it)
Maby some one know what to do to watch that type of movies.
MX player play this only in Sw mode.
One developer say's that this is maby kernel feature.
I think this could be some video drivers.
I recall that GamerzRom was able to play 720p mkv very well, but not with a stock player, it was with Moboplayer rather.
I don't think any stock player will be able to play 720p mkvs, due to the lack of hardware decoding support without proper codecs (Samsung does slap in quite a few already, but unfortunately not for MKV IIRC, presumably due to it possibly sucking too much RAM).
I guess your best bet would be to try that ROM with a 3rd party player like MoboPlayer, Dice player or MX player.
ok, i like the rom , video speed is little better but it still lagging and played in software mode
look at the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dz-mh1RzmpA
It works just fine for me. On ICS CM9 with mx player. Very smooth and clear!

maby more info?
becouse i don't think that .mkv is playing smoothly for u.
Try this: http://www.nyaa.eu/?page=torrentinfo&tid=322020
Diceplayer
i'm using devil kernel with XL memory and without any problems. 720p videos work perfectly with Video player and Diceplayer.
So try and see if devil kernel helps you out too.
Good Luck
for me on CM9+devil's kernel 720p movies runs smooth without any problems, I'm using MXplayer.
slim ics + devil3 +mx player or dice player and video playback (.mkv, anime) is terrible.

Hi everyone,
I'm on official CM 10.1 and when I play WMV video files using MX Player, they play only with SW decoder which becomes laggy if the video is in 1080p with high bitrate. These videos play fine on Stock ROM with HW decoder and of course with default video player.
Is there anyway to import LG video player, video libs or whatever responsible of this to CM to make this videos work properly?

Although it may not solve anything, consider upgrading to the latest nightly also. As of July 12 I saw all my GPS issues disappear, so perhaps your issue was addressed as well.
I have the 8.4" and have noticed that some of my videos (.mov 1080p movie trailers) seem to be a tad bit laggy, especially when they first start. Has anyone noticed the same? I have downloaded a custom codec but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I have also tried both hardware and software playback.
yes, same here, I bought MX player Pro in hope that it will dissapear but unfortunately there is very very noticeable lag. Stock video player plays same video with no problems...
I've had no problems with it on my end. Crosses fingers ✌

Not sure what is up with your mx player, but check out Dice Player and also check THIS link on how to add the DTS capabilities.
I used to be a mx player user, even bought pro, but since using dice, I haven't looked back once. It does all mx does, plus you can pop the player out and multitask with ease, I even use it on my note 3!
I'll check it out.
My videos seem to be smoother now when using software decoding for the video and hardware for the audio, but I know there is still something weird going on because the menus lag so much when you're scrolling up and down.
Yeah. That's weird. Mines still working flawlessly.
Anyone facing video playback problem? If I try to play a 720p or higher resolution video, the playback is very choppy as though frame rate has dropped. The play speed also jumps by 2 seconds. This is in VLC player. If I play from the phone original player, same problem but without audio.
I have tried only avi format since that's what I get from torrent.
Am I supposed to do something for a smooth playback or should I dump this beautiful phone?
I had problems woth a LITTLE choppy videos in FHD only. How choppy are those u mention? Unbearable choppy or noticeably choppy? Also, is ur battery mode set on performance (which I think is on default) and are you on the latest software?
Have you tried MX player? I use it and don't have issues with 1080p videos. You can choose how MX decodes the video, HW, HW+, or software. VLC still isn't the greatest on Android.

Yes it is noticeably choppy. And battery has been set to performance. Latest software too. Audio of the video is ac3, i think.

Yes, I did try MX player but it seems to be worse there. The audio is not even supported. At least it did in VLC. AUDiO: 192 CBR AC3 2.0. Can it play xvid and avi well? I mean the phone.
Did you try software decoding?
