So some apps auto updated =/ and I lost root access. I am s-on. Using supersu tells me I have to update binaries and if I click continue, it restarts and no luck. If i click cwm/twrp method, that does not work either.
What to do? As I said I think this happened when supersu updated its app.
Checked with root checker, and im not rooted.
Download the latest version of SuperSU and flash in recovery. Did you ever get S-off?

Re flashing supersu does nothing, it re optimizes all apps but does not work, and when I re open supersu, it tells me binary needs to be updated. No, never got s-off.

Try the newest version posted in the SuperSU thread. Somebody else was having issues with the older one recently and the newest version worked.

install the 1.94 again and then go to the play store and down SuperSU and see if it show up.
I had the same thing happen. I reflashed superSU in TWRP and it dissapeared.... So I installed it from the play store, opened it and allowed it to update binaries in TWRP to resolve.
If the update does not happen automatically when you boot to recovery reboot and try again.
Thanks for all of your help, but nothing worked so I just did a nandroid restore, which fixed the issue. Everything is back to normal.
Have a nice day!:good:

I flashed stock recovery. Do I need to oem lock too?
EDIT:
I oem locked and now I can't get out of the bootloader. I'm facked! Went through this last night and only after I unlocked a 2nd time could I boot back into system. Will flashing the latest viper give me everything I need to fix the back and home buttons?

Just flashed OTA KERNEL over Stock Root.
Boot-looped, since I had a Nandroid, I WIPED... checked my recovery "mount" menu and noticed "System" wasn't selected... installed de-odexed from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282200
booted fine, updated to OTA 1.29.651.10.
Hope this helps!
I ended up flashing Viper's Rom and its was the best thing I ever did, the Rom is flawless and has a lot of tweaks and pull down toggles menu.

Ok, so this confuses me. I am by no means a noob, but this ota thing has me baffled. Is this firmware or just a software/kernel update?
So Viper stated the his PRI or Baseband didn't change after he did this method. Isn't that the phones firmware?
So if this is the case, can't we skip this RUU, fastboot, flash recovery, re-root, piss our pants technique and just flash a rom that is based on the new update?
I'm curious. Hopefully someone can shed some light for me!
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
Im not sure... But flashed Viper's that already has that OTA version on the latest rom. Wow.. This Rom is perfect! And love the pull down toggles menu.

I've recently upgraded to ViperOne 5.8 from 3.5 (and prior to that 1.0) on a Sprint HTC One running TWRP 2.7.0.1. I've never updated the firmware, done an S-Off or an Hboot update. Does anyone have recommendations regarding firmware version, hboot version and s-off software that work well with my setup. Thanks in advance.

I believe i understood you were s-off already. If so you could update your recovery to the latest 2.7.0.4b and i would update your firmware to the latest as well. As for hboot i flashed roots aroma hboot and worked perfectly.

No, it is not s-off presently. I originally rooted it a year ago when new and installed ViperOne 1.0.
Do you know where I can find the latest firmware? Are you suggesting I downgrade TWRP from 2.7.0.1 to 2.6.3.0?

To be honest with you i would back up your apps and data with titanium backup from the playstore and then just do a full wipe in twrp meaning system and data as well. Just dont erase internal storage. Then reflash the rom zip and everything will be fresh and new. Then restore everything with titanium.
PS: just to let you know viper one has been updated to sense 6.0 if you check there link again.
Unforunately, I can't seem to do that now. Neither TWRP or Philz will allow me to do anything. Did I overwrite the SuperSU app?
Hey, just seen that sense 6 will get pushed out beginning may 12th in canada. My question is that my phone has an unlocked bootloader, is rooted, but not s-off. I havn't installed a new rom. has the same as after i unlocked bootloader. Will I be able to install the update when it is pushed?

Until you have the stock recovery ...you can install the update when it is pushed
As you've stated that you phone is rooted then you might've flashed TWRP or CWM to do it so
flash back the stock recovery of your model and you are good to go...

You need the stock recovery that match your fw version. I.e if you are on 3.23.666.1 then you need the recovery from this version.
Here is a collection of stock recovery. If you can't find yours, you can extract the recovery.img from the previous ota. The recovery packed in the upcoming ota update might also work.
my software number now says 4.19.666.8. im as up to date as i can be through bell so if i flash an old recovery will it cause problems? or will i just get an OTA update to bring it back to the latest version

you'll probably have to restore these app if you want to update. The ota updater script md5 check these apps. If they are not on your phone, the ota installation will probably fail because of MD5 mismatch.
See this post from arhd if you want more details
Ota update will not apply until and unless you have pure stock rom.
e.g. If your phone is pure stock you unlock its bootloader it will remove some apps which are installed in preload. Now if you relock the bootloader and flash stock recovery the ota update will not be applied as during flashing ota update check for these apps whether they are installed in preload or not. For ota updates to applied succesfully you need to run RUU of your model then flash ota.

asking me to do the update now. im really not sure what exactly i need to do to get it now
alright ive found a nandroid backup for bell 3.23.666.1 and i also have the recovery to go with it. if i run that nandroid and flash the recovery do ya'll think i can then get the OTA?
alright i tried this any couldnt get it to work. i flashed the recovery then rebooted phone. it asked to do the 4.19.666.8 update then rebooted, went to recovery but it was still TWRP recovery and not stock. so before getting to far involved i reflashed the nandroid i made this morning.
the whole not being able to s-off with hboot 1.56 is a bit of a pain. ive tried rumrunner and firewater with no luck.
so troubleshooting purposes i should add that i dont care about the tampered bar or anything like that. i dont have to send it back i just want the sense 6 ota. l

Then you didn't flash stock recovery... Either the recovery you flashed was not stock, or you didn't flash it right.
Now that I think about it after the flash it didn't do anything so I had to hold the power for 10 seconds. After that I panicked and just reverted back to my nandroid from that morning.

What steps have you done on your device till now?
I suppose you have only unlocked the device (when you enter hboot you will see the text UNLOCKED if that is true), so next to do will be flash the recovery and then from the recovery flash the zip file with supersu and that's it, once you have supersu in place you are ready to run apps that need root privilegies.
