I have good signal. This doesn't seem to be an issue but my download speeds are woeful. Either 3 or 4g it's just terrible. Ping speeds are slow and download speeds on 4g are less than 1meg at times.
It's a 1052 model. Does anyone know if there's any update modem drivers. Genuinely can't handle this hahaha

Ping and download speeds are most likely related to your carrier and not your phone - especially if you have a good signal. Do you have another GSM phone that you can place your SIM card into and see if your speeds increase and your PINGs decrease? You really need a basis for comparison.
not another 4g phone mrs has an iphone .... but thats only good or a 3g test
might have to just buy one and see what happens... doing my head in though !!!!!
I started a similar thread a little earlier than you. Same crap.
My moto X Dev with t mobile Sim. My wife's note 2 bought from att and unlocked, which doesn't even have all the LTE frequencies/channels , on the same family plan...
Speed tests on the att note 2 is unbelievable better than the moto X.

looks like the problem is the 4g on the phone. data speeds are inconsistant and on top of that i cant make or receive calls when on a 4g network
crap
at a total loss now. swapped sim cards and cant make calls on 4g.... have put an o2 sim in the phone and that doesnt seem to have the same issues as the ee sim ..... arrrrgghhhh

Are you manually forcing the phone into "LTE Only" mode? This would explain why you can't make calls on 4g....

I bought a used Vivid on craigslist and while it worked fine while being demo'ed, it seems to have been added to the lost and stolen IEMI list. With that said, is it possible to still use this phone on an at&t MNVO provider like straight talk, or is the only way to use it on t-mobile while only running on the edge bands?
As far as I know it is only blocked on the carrier it is sold on...so you should be good to use straight talk...you can use tmobile if you unlock your sim...but you would only get edge speeds...at least with straight talk I believe you get up to hspa+ speeds (this is atts fake 4g...it gets about 6mb up and 2mb down)

Uh. I don't know where you got that information. The mobile speedtest in my signature is on the HTC Vivid, on AT&T's LTE.
If you live in the correct market with good coverage, you can get up to 21mb.

He's talking about h+ is the fake 4g its actually about 3-1/2 g , LTE is a true 4g
And I've gotten up to 59mbs but avg. 28-35 and with h+ (4g ) not LTE as good as 4-6 avg. 3-4 mbs .
It is my understanding that straight talk does not support at&t's LTE, and instead will connect to the HSPA+ network.
With that said, it doesn't exist in my city to the best of my knowledge, so it seems to be a bit of a moot point.

If your city doesnt have hspa+ then you'll connect to 3g...if your city doesnt have 3g then 2g/edge
Straight talk doesnt just do hspa+, that's just the fastest they provide

Wish I can get that high lol what about your Upload Speed? I normally get 6MB DL
Upload , best I've gotten is about 39, avg. High 23-26 most of the time about 15-17 , note this is all while in LTE zones only
Update on the IMEI block; from my understanding of it, it is a total block for all major (4) carriers, so no TMO option there. I work for one of them so I had to read up on it, but the mvnos out there didn't sign on, so you might have some luck. Some other good news, the block expires eventually, not solid on how long, but it will be lifted somewhere along the line.

I would suggest you to sell it to some developer .. or some app developer .. they generally don't use sim cards in the phone

Good advice.
As for my experience. I put a ST sim car in an IMEI blocked Vivid and it worked for a second then completely reprogrammed the card.
Thought it might have been just StraightTalk. Put an AT&T Sim in and it did the same thing, made it inoperable ... those few days were painful
Hi everyone, my network has recently upgraded and has LTE sim cards available. I know the n7000 is not a LTE device but is there any benefit to using the LTE card? Just curious as it is a microsim and I would need to get a sim adapter to work in the n7000.
Thank you for any insight!
Since the Note doesnt support LTE, i very much doubt the "LTE" sim card will make any difference.
But if they are being offered to you for free, take it. its not gonna make your phone self-destruct or anything
my friend has an lte phone. the intenet is very fast but he said he wouldnt buy again an lte phone because its unnecessary.
well when i run it with basic settings its ok but when i add the att pta settings to mine it does run much faster.... you do have to have att's system thinking you have an att note and not the international one. might not be lte speed but mine goes pretty fast...
if you get an LTE sim card in Note 1, you are cued up to get LTE service when you switch your phone to an LTE phone.
I'm thinking of getting one. $9 for the card, I cue myself up for LTE when I get an LTE capable phone. In the meantime, I still get the same quota of 6gb for the same price but now I have LTE.

a little story from my country, in Indonesia, if we not in big city, like jakarta, yogyakarta, or bali, it's only get EDGE signal man, it's suck(sorry).. if i can get the HSDPA signal for a while, it really make me happy, and after that or you go to another place or go iside house, you go back to EDGE.......
I wonder how fast LTE is, and network on your country, someday maybe, thanks for reading..
I'm not into lte, at least not now since lte coverage is limited to a few cities in my country (Switzerland) and the prices are still far too high. Maybe in a year or so when the coverage will be better.
Back on topic: No yiu wont benefit from a lte capable sim card if your phone does not support lte.

I purchased a galaxy s3 I9305 today. I have rooted it and installed supernexus. It all seems to be going well but now when I go into the network settings and choose LTE/WCDMA/GSM, as soon as I exit it reverts back to WCDMA preferred. I am in LTE reception. The only thing I can think of is my sim card. My sim card is almost 7 years old, I had to cut it down to fit the s3. I have read varying things regarding 4g sim cards. Could this be the reason?
Hmmm... try and change sim card from your operator? Maybe 4g sim card is different?

have you checked your APN?
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app
I have used the APN from the virgin website and still no luck. I have been searching the forums to see if there was a difference between 3g and 4g sims. Most people say there aren't but I have heard that any sim older than 5 years won't be 4g ready. Is this correct?
Your operator must provide you with a new sim lte enabled. But to be honest 4g isn't a big deal, I have my i9305 still on 3g. Cheaper and longer battery life at the price of a slower connection, but most of the time I'm on a wifi.

i have heard of those rumors too... but i heard that if the sim can support 3g, it can support 4g.. give virgin a call? maybe they need to activate the 4g service on their side?

i'm from singapore so our 4g service is an add-on. to get 4g, we have to pay a little bit of extra money and our provider will activate the service for us..
Definitely change your SIM card. Some operators give a 1-1 exchange for free. Just show them your phone and they should be quite happy to change your sim card for free especially if your plan is 4G enabled.
Hello guys,
I just noticed my LTE speeds were horrible (2.24 M/b download/2.03 M/b upload via internet speed test). My coworker who is using a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on Verizon is achieving speeds well over 20 M/b. Neither of us are connected to WIFI. I tried to do some research to see if anyone else was having the same issue but haven't found anything on it yet. I got really good speeds on my S6 before the upgrade. I tried to phone in with Verizon's tech support and they weren't much help. I'm wondering if this might have anything to do with the DQA pop-up errors. Hoping an update would fix it but just wanted to isolate the issue if it's software or hardware-related.
Has anyone experience similar issues?

I am not using verizon network but i am using a verizon s8 on a different network and already using the latest update. i am able to get 37Mbps for download and 27Mbps Upload speed on my company so i dont think your problems are related to the update but to verizon itself

Anybody on Verizon able to check if their LTE speeds have been bad? I could just rule out that I am in bad area but since I have other coworkers getting better speeds just trying the diagnose the problem.
Thank you all,
Thought the dqa is for wifi only
I'd say they're pretty damn good on this phone.
47mb down
20mb up
in KS, testing a Dallas server on speedof.me
Sometimes, this is due to a bad sim. Did you get a new sim for the S8?

Who do you use on your Verizon S8? I am using at&t but can't get LTE connection to stick. I boot the phone, I have LTE for 2 minutes and then back to HSPA+
Wondering if you are on at&t as well?
Thanks

I am using ATT but in Mexico and here ATT only use band 4 and 5 so i dont have any issue. I use ATT (roaming) every time I am there and I do notice that with my old phone (HTC 10) in my area this phone was constantly using band 30 and 4 and changing between them, so after I changed to the verizon s8 I lost band 30 and i was only able to connect using band 4 hence some times i was losing my LTE.
You should do the test with your old phone and LTE discovery and see what bands are you using most of the time and see if your verizon phone have them or not.
I am also having this issue after the update. Slow LTE speeds even when I am in line of site of a tower.
Hi all, will this phone work on ATT and or Cricket? Is it a GSM phone? Will it get 4G if so? Thanks!!!
i have the mix on Cricket since December, it's on H+ most of the time and some times 4g depends on your location I guess, so it works on cricket and I'm not complaining on internet speed

I use it on Straight Talk (the AT&T sim). I live in Springfield Missouri and normally get LTE everywhere I go. The only real issue I have is when I do happen to lose LTE (receive/make a phone call, lose LTE in one particular room at my work, etc) it will stay on H+/3G until I go into settings and toggle between 3G then back to LTE again. Sucks, but not that big a deal since Straight Talk basically caps speed around 7-10 megs and H+/3G pretty much handles that speed anyway. But I haven't really had that many issues.
Mine is on Cricket and running fine in the Des Moines, IA area. I have a few hiccups here and there, but nothing drastic.
I have it with Att and works great always on Lte (tucson,Az). I get the hd voice and video calling as well. Only complain is I cant wait for mix 2 lol.
Straight talk ATT sim LTE all the time I live south of Chicago
