Hi All,
Welcome to the Rom-Packer "Squeezer" module!
This was originally included with my Wizard Rom-Packer kitchen, but as the technology is applicable to most programs installed in the Wizard (or actually most devices), in either storage memory or SD card, I have decided to release it to the wider community of non-cookers.
This program uses the open source program UPX to compress .exe files. The compression is quite remarkable. Generally the files end up less than half their original size. I have tested the process on all the main Office programs, and they work fine. The loading speed of the programs is actually improved, because the storage memory is so much slower than ram memory, so the time gained by transferring a smaller amount of data from the storage memory to ram when you run the program is more than enough to make up for the time spent uncompressing in ram.
The larger programs really seem to "pop" in comparison. Besides the Office programs, I have tested it on apps such as: eWallet, iSilo, ListPro, and Skype and found it works well, speeding load times with a smaller storage and SD card footprint.
The process "may" work with some .dll files as well, but I haven't tested them as extensively. A few programs will not work well in this mode, or refuse to load, so keep the original copies as backups. You will also find a few programs (adobe reader, pocketXpdf) which have already been compressed with this technology!
So, here's what you do:
1) Make sure the original program is installed correctly.
2) Locate the .exe file which was installed in Program Files in your PDA or the SD card.
3) Save a copy of this file somewhere in case it doesn't work.
4) Copy all the .exe files you want to compress into the SqueezeRoom directory.
5) Run Squeezem.bat
6) Take the compressed files out of the SqueezeRoom directory and replace the originals with those.
7) Run the program in the usual way. If all is well, Great! you're done!
8) If there's a problem, you can try a soft-reset before undoing the experiment.
9) If that doesn't help, copy the copy you made in step 3 back to the original location, overwriting the compressed copy.
Of course, I strongly recommend that you run a good backup utility, such as SPB backup, before beginning, just in case you make a big mistake somewhere.

Have fun!
Have you tried compressing dll files before?? I read the readme file...but since you wrote it, have you tested them.

I tried one, but it didn't work. According to the UPX documentation it sometimes works on .dll files, so if you find a large one it works with, let us know!
Regards,
This program is amazing!!! I can see a notable increase in performance on my device. I compressed about almost all my apps (about 25-30 exe's) and about 5-8 dll's. So far the dll's that I have compressed have been working.
You can see a huge increase in performance the bigger the exe file is. Apps like Wisbar/WAD start up about 3-4 sec faster,
Opera about 3 sec (4MB compressed down to 1.7MB)
AIM 2 sec faster
Camera.exe maybe 1 sec (I couldn't really tell the difference)
Verichat 2 sec
FoxitReader 2-3 sec
IM+ 3-4 sec
SPB Imageer 2-3 sec
Resco Radio 2 sec
Total Commander 1-2 sec
Midlet Manager(jmm.exe) 2 sec faster
and calculator.exe seems to pop open .
When it comes to games, which usually are 2-4MB in size, they open 4-7 sec faster than normal. One of my games was 4MB than shrunk down to about 1.4MB after compressed.
This program also saves a crazy amount of space as well. My main memory free space before was 6.5MB, than after compression, increased to 11.8MB
It also seems like there is more free RAM than normal, but I'm still veiwing that. Posted some SS of compressed file sizes.
I just discovered that .cpl(Control Panel Extension) files can also be compressed. I just compressed SoftKeyAppletEx.cpl and ThemeManager.cpl for those who know what they are. They still work after compression. There not that big but I get about 50-60% compression from them.
Great finds!
Wow, freeyayo50!
Great finds, and thanks for reporting them. It's great to see this little bugger being useful!
BTW, You're packing a lot into your machine! Do you use an sd card?
Best wishes,

Thanx, just tryin to help out the community .
And yes, I am using a 1GB Mini SD card. I use it to hold most of my apps and all my music.
I dont understand why developers dont use this. So far everything that I have compressed has been working perfectly fine. I just luv how much space this thing saves.
as of now i'am building an rom with all dll and exe and cpl upx-ed. Just finished packing and now Build os is building. then i will try if it will run
Now it's flashing to my mda
It was to much. The rom wont load. stops at second boot screenthe 3th wont load.
A noble experiment!

Email App?
Anybody know which app controls the email accounts?
I use the blackberry client and it takes forever to load up..even when in the background! Creating new mail also takes it's own sweet time!
Would love to squeeeeze a bit more performance out of my wizard!

I believe you may be talking about the tmail.exe in the \Windows folder.
main OS dlls and exe SOULD NOT be compressed with upx.....this was tested ages ago by rom cookers it will cause problems....true some files can be upx you should leave the OS files alone.

Thanks for the tip, faria!
(Translation: Avoid messing with the sys\os subdirectory, and be careful with the others. Most of these apps are small, so you wouldn't be gaining much anyway.)
wow nice program thanks!
doesnt work with tomtom btw crashes when I start it

Hi, It worked with my TomTom!? I'm pretty sure I compressed it. Just the main .exe, not any of the supporting stuff. I'll double check it when I get home tonight, (or tomorrow to be honest, I have a big project for school right now)
Tested and working with opera.dll from Opera 8.60u2. It's a huge 5 MB file that once compressed is less than 2 MB . There seems to be no side effects, besides saving over 3 MB of storage. Great program!

http://dibosmobile.blogspot.com/2007/09/mobicraft-starcraft-java-game.html
would it be posable to port that over to the kaiser? I dont know anything at all about java so sorry if this is a stupid question.
This would be awesome!!! I am an avid Starcraft fan. I have played it many many times and I have even downloaded many different missions.
I have downloaded the provided link but there doesn't seem to be any executable or .jar file? I wonder how this app works?
if anybody figured out how to play this game, let us know...
Starcraft is one of the best games ever!!
I am proud to report I made some progress I couldent figure out how to make a .jar file so I downloaded anoter game in .jar format and I prettymuch hijacked it I got starcraft to open now im trying to figure out how this game works. I have the .jar if someone could tell me how to post it.
The download I recieved was a password protected zip file called _dibosmobile.blogspot.com_-MobiCraft_Starcraft.zip. I unzipped it with the given password 'dibosmobile'. Inside of that there was a MobiCraft_Starcraft.zip file. It's actually a jar file (has the classes and manifest file). So, just rename it to be .jar instead. Copy that to your mobile and click it from File Explorer.
I've got MobiCraft menu up running at 24fps.

bad news
Sorry to say this to you all but mobicraft is pretty frozen. I joined the beta test team for it right before development stopped, and havent seen any updates since. SF link
The bad news is, its not playable. Really the only thing that worked was the chat, but its down now since they lost hosting. You could bug em I guess? Sorry.
OK I have changed the zip file to jar and it installs and runs the menu at 32fps. The problem is I can't get it to accept the new game. It doesnt recognise the d-pad fully? What button do you press for OK to begin new game?
Use # as ok and * as back/cancel the game was not designed for our phones so it operates on numbers 0-9, #, * and the d-pad.
i've seen videos, i have everything but i dont have the pak files where can i get them?
Not here. Check around the usual places. They are still under license, you know.
Try looking...

PAK files are available when you BUY and INSTALL the full game onto your computer. Any other way would be stealing. Like torrents or doing a little searching on your part instead of having other people do the search for you...
http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/28138830/Quake+III?tab=summary
You do need a working q3 cd key from a purchased game, there isnt currently a windozeCE IOq3 source available that i know of.
Q3 is open source and has been for years.
q3ce.cab
the problem was finding the pak's and converting them, i have a copy of quake 3 i just didn't understand how to convert them sorry if i wasn't clear
Just read the instructions that came with the package. Also, I couldn't make the convert work on Windows 7 RC1, on XP it worked fine, though it took about 20 minutes to convert everything.
However after conversion and copying all files to storage card, executing q3a.exe produced "Q3CE is not a valid pocket pc application". After digging arround found modified package for HTC Diamond, it starts, I see something in the log window and then it dies.
Anyone got it working on Fuze?
Hi,

Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (model: SM-N950F) since may 2018.
The screen failed recently just after updating Bixby. But I don't think it's due to this update.
May be an electrical problem? But before sending back my Note 8 to fix the screen I have to backup my datas.
With an almost all green screen and a password to enter as to unlock the phone, it's quite an impossible mission.
But I just did the job today and succeeded to backup my datas on my pc laptop with the Smart Switch Samsung Software.
I have professional "Samsung Notes" and it's urgent for me to find them back for work.
The problem is how to open the sdoc.snmm file in the directory SAMSUNGNOTE (from the backup stored on my laptop).
I renamed the file as a zip one and opened it with Winzip which can now display 3 files as following:
SDOC.BK, SMARTSWITCHBACKUP.JSON, et SSMDUMMYVALUE.XML.
SDOC.BK is the bigger one. Almost 97% of the total 3 files percentage.
I think it's this file which contains all Samsung Notes I did with my S pen!
But how to manage that file? I red on other forums that we can read the Samsung notes files as PDF files from a Windows PC.
But the files would have to be first exported in PDF format from the Note 8. And as I can not read anything on my screen Note 8,
I can do nothing from the Note 8.
Then, is it possible to open that SDOC.BK with a specific software? Or do I have to change the extension BK into PDF?
If you could help me to find a solution it would be great!
Regards,
Eric (from Paris!)
If you ever figure a way to do this please share.

It's a little late and I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter anymore by now, but I'm pretty sure those are proprietary formats. Renaming them won't make it able to read it. I think the only way is to export them from the Notes app, unfortunately.
Have you tried Samsung Notes app for Windows? Maybe that helps...

Hello
I tried to get the samsung notes application but the download link failed. I chatted with US samsung support. They say that this application is no more available since january 2018 as they have bugs to fix.
8 months later it still being "off"!! It must be very big bugs! If someone succeeded to manage his samsung notes with a Windows 10 PC it would be kind to share a copy of it. Please note that the french samsung support was not aware of this problem as the software download link was "broken". They added this was a Microsoft problem as the samsung note software is distributed by and for Microsoft corporation. By the way, the customer is invited to find a solution with Microsoft not with Samsung! What about the samsung engineers working to fix the soft? I do not understand this way to give... "no solution". It's not serious for a such big Company like Samsung! Thanks for your attention. Regards Eric
I installed Notes for Windows on my new Notebook 9 Pro in April this year. Synchronization ensures I can open and work on the Notes both on the Note 8 and the Notebook 9 Pro....
Could be that there is no windows Notes app for non-samsung or non-pen equipped pcs.
If any of you are still wondering, use this link filext.com/file-extension/SDOC . upload your .sdoc file, from that click the text.dat one at the very end then copy and paste to a word document or something. You will need to edit it but at least you can still keep everything you typed. For pictures it is the one with .JPG . Sometimes the text is saved as JPG, in this case press the one that says .spd which is like another file, then click the very first one (think it ends with .page) then you can copy the text which they will show below. Hope this helps since it helped me recover quite a couple of .sdoc notes.
This link, from my Android phone, works to push the Samsung Notes app to my PC Windows account:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/samsung-notes/9nblggh43vhv
Trying to install the app from the store directly from the non-Samsung PC had failed.
The Samsung Notes Windows 10 app can sync your notes between your phone and your PC.
I hope that helps.

I know it's super late, but I was just having this problem. I found an older version and it is working great so far: https://www.xda-developers.com/get-samsung-notes-windows-10-app/
