Dropbox integration on stock rom? - Verizon LG G2

Does the Verizon version have integrated Dropbox integration into the file manager? I swore it did. Also, I thought I remember being able to access local servers using the Video, Music, and Photo apps. I have a server and used to be able to do that. Did the latest update remove that?

I don't remember the stock rom having a file manager. maybe that's because I uninstall everything that comes with it, tho. I think all the popular file managers have Dropbox integration, so it doesn't matter.

AppBrain sync

I have noticed, happily, that apps I have purchased for my EVO are still paid for and available for use with my tab. I have been using AppBrain instead of Titanium to put my apps back on after a ROM flash.
Can I sync my tab without effecting the list of what is on my phone? I guess I could go the Ti route but I kinda like not have another backup saved on my card (in addition to one saved in recovery).
I've synced my phone and my tablet with AppBrain and have not noticed any problems or missing apps or the like.
Outta curiosity, can you check the AppBrain website and see if shows a separate list for the tab?
Thanks!
Hey gents. Just wanted to say how much I'm loving this G Tablet first off.
But I just wanted to leave a little tip you may have used. If you enable Fast Web Install in AppBrain, you'll be able to search the entire marketplace and install apps that even don't show up in the Android Marketplace after the fix.
For example, I used it to install Vplayer Alpha as I prefer it to Rockplayer just bit. I couldn't find it in the Android Marketplace and I wasn't too sure about the APK file I downloaded to sideload.
Luckily, Fast Web Installer + AppBrain = No need for Android Marketplace.
@goalweiser - I see VPlayer Beta (I think it's no longer Alpha) in Market currently, after my extended Market Fix (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861044), although I've made a few additional tweaks to build.prop now so not certain it will be there for you.
But thanks for sharing the AppBrain Fast Web Installer tip, I wasn't aware of that one.
Thanks for the tip on the Beta...need to update! It was updated on my Evo and I didn't even notice.
That said, my AppBrain account doesn't necessarily seem to be syncing both ways. I can't seem to get the same apps on both my Evo and GTab without downloading them manually.
I'll probably just create another account for the GTab all together.
I see both my Evo and my GTab separately within the same gmail account logged into AppBrain... Look on the left-hand side, they group them according to device.

[Q] How can I buy and sideload an app not compatible with the Xoom?

I am an absolute noob when it comes to more sophisticated techniques of the Android OS. I have encountered more than once now that I want to (buy and) install an application but it is not compatible with my device (i.e. Xoom). Could someone point me to where there's a noob's guide to purchasing and installing apps that are apparently not compatible (who's deciding that anyways?)?
Thanks everyone!
The app developer chooses what devices his app works on. They don't want a Xoom user trying an app that isn't supported. If / when it crashes, the user writes a nasty review.
I got apps to my nook color by using a couple different apps. One was Hocker, I can't remember what the other one. Essentially it was an app that allowed you to backup your apps to folder on the SD card. It made a .apk for the app. Hocker then lets you send the app via WiFi over to the other device (both devices had Hocker running and on the same WiFi network). You could also transfer via dropbox or using a computer to move the .apk over and forgo Hocker.
The other app was a file manager I think, maybe even astro? I'm not sure though, it's been a few months.
This method does require two android devices though. If you don't have another device to initially download the app, then you are going to have to pirate the app and you won't find help from me regarding that.
Thank you sir!
I downloaded MyBackup to my Nook Color and created a .apk file. Then I uploaded it to Dropbox and extracted it to my Xoom. Worked like a charm

Rooted and Removed ALL Bloatware - Amazing!

My phone is much much faster now. Had absolutely no problems deleting ALL of the bloatware and verizon crap. My phone is ATLEAST 3x faster now. No more response lag. Before rooting and removing bloatware, I averaged 80-110mb free ram...after root and bloatware remove i now have 200mb free. I am blown away with how fast it is now...
Now I'm just wondering how long we will have to wait for custom roms like cyanogen...?
Could you maybe give us a guide on how to remove "bloatware". Could be very helpful for us less advanced users.

Don't delete any apps, simply rename them to .bak or move them to another folder. Deleting them means you won't be able to get any OTA updates.
how do you rename them without root explorer? is there a free app that allows you to do the same thing?

adb would let you rename and/or move them.
droid 3 rebot
I have a droid 3, I made the root, and delete some applications and then now every time I turn it on, it restarts and keeps restarting, help please
Any commentary on effect on battery life? I saw some guys in the dev section of the forum reporting really good battery life, but I believe they were undervolting or downclocking the cpu as well.
Also, when you say prevent you from getting OTA, do we need to rename bak's back to apk when we hear of an OTA in order to get it? I have heard OTA would likely undo root, so it may be a trade-off between fixing the blue tinted camera and having good speed/battery life.
Besides the dangerous suggestion of deleting apps, the OP must have had some apps killing his device, since I am not seeing any plausible way to get three times the performance. Device is responsive, 2500 Quadrant (FWIW) and this is in spite of no root yet, plus 1.3gb of apps installed.
Also, some the apps in the list to delete are interdependent on some stock apps, based on the rash of "help me!" posts that are starting to appear in forums.
Freeze them, yes, but do not delete them.
C'mon guys...we are smarter than this. Yes, having root is awesome but I just took delivery of the D3 for my wife last week and it is a quick and snappy phone all stock. The only real reason I see to root is that she was a bit disappointed that she couldn't tether. But we were able to get that working very simply by modifying the radio. Yes I now have free tether without root. I will not deny that I am just itching to root and unleash the power of this beast but I think it wise to wait or at least warn of potential consequences till we have a functional sbf available before just going ape-**** with the delete button and instructing how to do so? I have already seen a couple of threads by noobs pleading for a fix because they deleted something and bricked their device. It sucks! We need to warn there is no sbf or any other way of undoing **** ups yet.... just sayin

Battery life
After freezing all the bloatware my battery life went up from 6 hours to 30 hours. I can't believe the difference. The main culprit may have been DLNA.
I still have no idea what dlna was supposed to do. Anyone?

It's a service that allows you to stream videos/movies to DLNA enabled devices.
Anyone have problems with Contacts FCing when selecting a name from the list?
I only unistalled all the VZ apps, now I'm having this problem.
I have the D3 system dump ready to go, but I'm not sure what app could have caused a symptom like this.
Any ideas?
*EDIT*
Logcat gives the Error:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Couldn't find authenticator for specific account type
**EDIT**
Resolved.
Damn yahoo app integration.

I ran the remove script on this thread to rename all of the bloat. The op included a restore script, too.

Just ran the Remove Bloatware script and the phone is running like a champ.
Only thing i miss is Swype. Anyone know who I can get the back?

Is it safe to delete the two games form Com2us? Even though I uninstalled them from the apps menu, their data still resides in the /preinstall/app folder and its taking up almost 250mb of data

De-Bloat your XT860

Even though we don't have much in the way of Custom ROMS for our beloved XT860 at this point, you can get rid of much of the bloatware and speed up your device quite a bit.
I must give credit to lifeinanalog and his original post on Android Forums regarding bloatware on the Bell XT860.
I am in no way responsible for anything that you do to your phone. While this has worked great for me, it may not work out the same way for you.
You will need root access: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1240130
And will need Titanium Backup Pro installed: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackupPro&hl=en
Using Titanium Backup Pro, I have frozen the following Apps. Once you reboot your device, they will no longer appear in your app drawer. You can always bring them back by 'un-freezing' them:
Cardock
Citrix receiver
Connected music player (I use an alternate music player)

There are some apps in your list I hesitate to uninstall, I don't really know what they do.
Did you froze them and nothing significant happen or some are only a feature you don't need?

I didn't remove any of the apps that I listed - only froze them.
Have had no problems from freezing any of the apps in the OP.
The 'phone portal' does not affect your ability to make calls. From what I have read it is just another way to connect to the device through your computer. See this post here for more detailed information about it: https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/28340
I am not sure what the suggestions apps do, but freezing them hasn't caused any problems.
Zoompass is a mobile payment service and I am assuming zoom mode is related to it. Again no problems from freezing it.

Thanks, didn't realize that the script could also be used on the XT860, thought it was designed for the Verizon D3 only.
Does the script freeze or remove the apps?
I'm hesitant to remove anything because of the lack of an .sbf for the XT860.

I tried doing a manual debloat a while back but didn't really see much performance change. That's why I made those changes to the build.prop files (I posted it under general). My phone is pretty fast, but the battery still really sucks. I think we are all impatiently waiting the XT860 update together!
I manually removed about 50MB of apk's in system/app folder of the 5.7.894 ROM. I did not remove Yahoo and Corporate.
I can't sync the FaceBook and/or Twitter avatars with my address book. Did I remove too many?

Just install/reinstall facebook from market, I've had similar problems with FB a few times and that's always fixed it.
That didn't work unfortunately. I did not get the question what I'd like to sync; none, all contacts, or existing contacts.

You need to keep the blur facebook authenticator if you want to sync facebook with your contacts
About de-bloating:
When I uninstall the blur activesync autenticator I get force-close when I select a contact in the contacts menu.
I can confirm that I do not have the ability to sync Facebook contacts after removing the authenticator (I never synced them to begin with)
I am not have any force close issues with my contacts...

Can NEW market be blocked on .901? (get old market back, new preinstalled)

I REALLY Hate the new market PRE-INSTALLED on the .901 Bionic update. I'm rooted so I've tried to block the MarketUpdater.apk and reinstall a older market. It works for a few days but the new market still appears. I can't just uninstall updates for the market as it's preinstalled for the new version. I don't know how to block it. It's loaded with ads. Stuff like books and movies I don't need. Just want apps. The new market is also very slow to load. Sees my 2 google accounts. Stuff I don't want. Before the update to .901 I could just block the MarketUpdater.apk and it worked great. But since it's pre-installed some how it's updating. So Ideas?
This is just a guess, but the new market is actually now the old market. I think its supposed to be called progress. Eventually, if not already, the new market will be the required method of download, especially as we move into ICS and anything future. Its the way of things, especially when there are platform changes. I wouldn't look for google, Motorola or Verizon...att, tmo, etc, to make any changes here, as it offers new ways for them to make money.
Again....just a guess...but I would wager, not far off.
That may be. But the old 2.3 market does run. I just need to block the auto update.

I use Best Apps from the market. Works great.

I'm not saying it's a done deal. But I think I've blocked the update. I've .baked the update.apk AND the update folder to .apk as well. Manually installed a version of the 2.3 market. Even on WiFi seems to be holding.
If you are rooted you can freeze the Market Updater 1.0 in Titanium Backup.
