[Q] 'USB on the Go' no keyboards or mice, wired or wireless working, any idea please?

Hello Members, i'm not a developer, but have a Note GT - N7000 uk version running Gingerbread 2.3.6. , so i would very grateful for you help.
I've bought two 'USB On The Go' adapters, one was not Samsung, one is. When i plug in any adapter the phone see's it, if i plug in a mouse or keyboard, wired or wireless the phone reads it saying...keyboard connected or Mouse connected, but no mouse pointer appears, nor does the keyboard types anything.
If i plug in any USB flash drive, it is always read and i can see all the files.
What's going on? I get the feeling ther's nothing mechanically wronge with the phone, but feel it maybe a data issue.
A bluetooth keyboard or mouse has no problems working, but using a keyboard/mouse this way seem's less responsive via bluetooth, than USB wireless.
I've included a screenshot from my 'about' screen, any help would be really helpful.
Kind regards
Livio
I tried many keyboards via OTG cable. It seems the only workable is the logitech (without integrated touchpad).
I'm now using a bluetooth keyboard (chinese manufacturing) working very well, in order to leave free the mini-usb and put it on the hdmi adapter.
I can plug a USB mouse in and the pointer shows up and it works.
I've only tried 1 USB keyboard and it didn't work.
It was an old Acer (I think) and it had a lot of lights, so I'm not sure if it required too much power for the Note...
I also read that you might need to turn the phone off, plug in the keyboard and then boot the phone up with the keyboard plugged in.
But that was after I had access to the keyboard to try.
So for me, mouse works, keyboard doesn't.
I just plugged the keyboard and mouse in out of curiosity.
I have a BT mouse and I've ordered a BT keyboard and hoping that will arrive in about a week.
Thanks for the replies, i tried a few keyboards and mouse makes, and i even tried the 'switch off /switch on' method with no luck, what's strange is that it see's the items plugged in but the mouse pointer doesn't appear even though the screen kind of does a quick refresh as if the pointer was going to show.
My conclusion is that it can only be Gingerbread, i'm guessing that when the ICS update finally gets offered for download, wireless keyboards and mice will work, i've done the same as yourselves and just bought a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, both different and reputable makes so i hope that they work ok.
Regards

[Q] dock with keyboard/trackpad

anybody know of a decent dock that will serve as a stand and offers a keyboard w/ trackpad? i just got my n7 and ordered one of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009WSCW4S/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 with it and i'm finding that the touchscreen is pretty awkward to use while it's docked. i've scoured amazon for something more suitable with no luck so i thought i'd ask the hive mind. if no such dock exists i should be able to pair a bluetooth mouse or touchpad at the same time right?
Wow... No answers? LoL!! Um... just in case others come looking, you can pair a bluetooth mouse with it. I was looking at that very keyboard dock today. I want one. LoL!! My plans was to use a USB OTG and a wired USB mouse. I may invest in a bluetooth mouse, though.
One thing I've tested before was using a USB OTG: connecting a USB Splitter to it: Then connecting a mouse and keyboard to the splitter. This works. The only issue here may be power. Sometimes the keyboard wouldn't work, or sometimes the mouse wouldn't work. Other times both work fine. I'm lucky enough to have a USB to USB cable, so I plug one end into a power source, laptop, wall adapter, etc, then the other end into one of the splitters. This will give power to the keyboard, mouse and Nexus.

Help with Smart Dock

i was using the Smart Dock, for about 6 months, and it was running perfect, i saw movies, and play games (emus, and android games) using a ps3 controller wired, on the Dock´s USB, and every time work perfectly.
But suddenly, it stop working, now its dificult to connect, i connect it, and in the phone screen appears the "HDMI cable connected", but after a few seconds appears "HDMI cable disconnected", and then, the message appears one after one,
and when it work, the screen mirroring runs well, but when i connect a mouse (wired) dont work, neither the ps3 controller or a pendrive, the USB Host of the Dock is not working,
I try using a USB OTG, and connect both mouse and ps3 controller, and both work well, but not in the Dock
anny suggestions?
Sorry for the long post
You probably are, but just in case, I'll ask anyway..... Are you using a powerful enough charger (1.8-2.0 maH output) .... e.g-the one that came with the note 2? And are the cables snugly snapped into place and not loosely connected?

I have this problem too!! none of the USB ports are functioning, however USB accessories all work with my Note 2 via OTG cable (I tried connecting the OTG cable to the Smart Dock too and this didn't work either)

I have exactly the same problem with all 3 USB ports. HDMI works fine. Is there any special setting or my dock is faulty?
I think they must be faulty, either the unit itself or possibly the charger, or the charger for some reason is not strong enough to power the USB ports (although that seems strange as everything is official Samsung product, and I've tried using my phone power adapter too which ostensibly is the same)
Yes the charger in the dock is 100% the same with the one in the phone packaging. I tried to power the dock through my laptop without any success. Unfortunately, there is not powered problem.

Chromecast causing audio dropouts on receiver

Hi folks, I have my chromecast connected directly to my Denon avr 3310 and powered from the USB port on my TV. Chromecast is working as expected. I get dolby digital plus with no problems and great hd pictures from Netflix. Trouble happens when I switch back to my satellite box. That's connected to my TV via hdmi and receiver via optical. Since adding chromecast I get audio dropouts when watching satellite. How do I know it's chromecast? When I remove the USB cable powering the chromecast from the TV all audio issues dissappear. Anyone have similar issues? Cheers mick
I would do what was suggested and move the usb to maybe a wall adapter for power for troubleshooting. Also make sure that somehow your optical input is not assigned to the same source as your chromecast hdmi input and double check all your input assignments on the Denon.

Same here with a Denon 790 and analog sources. The Chromecast is plugged on back of the receiver inside a bookshelf nook, so disconnecting it is impractical.
The workaround is to drill down the menu through Input Assign > [HDMI] for the port used by Chromecast > set to "None". When using the Chromecast again, reverse the procedure and reassociate the port. Don't forget which port number holds the Chromecast.
It's inconvenient and my wife explicitly Does Not Like It, but the dropouts stop when you disassociate the port. You eventually memorize the remote key sequence without needing the onscreen menu.
Hope this helps, even after 3+ years.

PS2 Keyboard and Mouse with Nook HD+?

Not sure if this would be the right forum, but I'll try anyway.
I've rooted my Nook HD+ and now I'm running CyanogenMod 10.2.1. and managed to connect some USB devices(a mouse for instance), which work fine. However, I want to use a keyboard and since, at the moment, I don't have a USB one, I tried connecting a PS2 keyboard, using a USB to PS2 converter. The lights on the keyboard turn on, but the keyboard itself isn't working. I tried a PS2 Mouse as well. Again, it lights up, meaning that it is receiving power from the tablet, but you can't actually use it! So, what exactly is the problem here? When I did have the chance to use a USB mouse and keyboard, they worked fine. It's not an Android thing either. Apparently you can connect a PS2 keyboard and mouse to a Nexus 7, running Android 4.2 and they'll work just fine. I don't think it's because of the Nook's hardware, considering that the devices do turn on, when you plug them in. The USB to PS2 converter also isn't the problem, because the keyboard and mouse work fine, when I plug them into the PC. I suppose CyanogenMod doesn't have drivers for PS2 devices? If that's the case, is there any way I could find and install some? If an older version of Android could handle them, I don't see why this OS shouldn't.
Thanks.
