Afaik there will always be even a small chance of something going wrong. But then
It's the 11w29+ phones that are really at risk.
Goodluck lukenda. And if you do get your bl unlocked, thanks for your help for those of us with 11w29+.

As everyone said before, it's safe as long as the phone isn't sim-locked.
However, regarding Jelly Bean -- as nobodyAtall said on his CM10 development thread, it's "a best effort to support the unsupportable" or something like that; our X8 really, really shouldn't go any further than 2.3. I'm currently on 4.0 and it leaves a lot to be desired -- 2.3 roms are *much* snappier, but for some reason I get terrible battery life on those (that's why I'm on 4.0)
How can i be sure that my phone is not sim lock.
Without inserting various sim cards,thanks

Read Bootloader unlock threads for thatv sim certificate. Everything is explained there.
Mine X8 is 11W19 and i had no problems with unlocking bootloader.
Are u seriously asking these or u are testing us.. u have been here since quite a long time and know a lot more than many of us around..
Any way you can check out the thread by spyderx on unlocking with all the methods and details or mine below for a simple one with some usefull links..
And yes i haven't heard anyone complaining about brick for the one's below 11W29, still no one can assure u on that, there are always a few chances if something goes wrong(very small chance )..
Good luck..
No risk is involved, but use your brain a little bit.
Im sure you will be happy after unlocking ur bootloader.
Hey, ur not a noob, though its ur choice
You should read related threads for unlocking bootloder and then follow proper procedure.
U will definitely succeed.
Gud luck

Try Flashing a Euro Open found here http://lg-phone-firmware.com/ with kdz flash tool.......and please stop making so many threads about each and every question. And if you must do it then post it Q & A section. Thanks.
Ok, i will try that out. Should i flash over the existing v20a, or downgrade first...??
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
I do not think that you need to downgrade to 10H for that ....... If it does not work then you can downgrade to 10H but I am quite sure that it will work and you won't lose any data.
Good Luck.
You cant get eur xxx. Why would you want anyway?

Did you manage to get your phone onto the EURO Firmware or you just unlocked your current firmware ?
To unlock the phone and install a custom ROM I take it that you must root the device first so :-
1) root
2) Unlock
3) cwm
4) custom rom
I am coming from a Galaxy S2 which I did not have to root just use ODIN so thats why I am asking because I want to go straight to custom CM10
I unlocked 262-001..... And
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers and you have to unlock bootlader before installing cwm....

[Q] Able to Root anymore?

Hey guys and girls i've had my Xperia Z C6603 since it came out and I had rooted it since it was realeased to be able to but the other day I went to flash a custom ROM and bricked it. I then used the Sony tool to put the latest OFW on and reset it and then tried many different rooting methods with no luck.
I have the
C6603 on 4.4.2 and the.bootloader is not allowed to be unlocked.
Is it possible to flash a custom ROM and root it? And if so which method will work?
Its on 10.5.A.0.230 build :/
Thanks people.

If you're going to keep posting that, you should also advise people that it requires unlocking the bootloader and therefore invalidates warranty.

Indeed it does require an unlocked bootloader.
In your situation, the only way to gain root is to downgrade to a 4.2.2 firmware, root and flash a prerooted KitKat rom or a custom rom of your preference.

It's the Q&A section. If people knew everything, they wouldn't be asking for assistance here.
Please stop posting incorrect or incomplete information and replying without reading the question properly and I won't need to keep correcting you.
I'm sorry that you appear to be upset, but if you're going to reply to almost every thread here, then you should at least try to provide correct information.

You're correct. There's no way to unlock your bootloader.
Yes, you will need to download a 4.2.2 firmware and flash it using Flashtool. This will probably require that you wipe your data, unfortunately.

Thats perfrctly fine, I had backed up all my data with Helium Premium to Dropbox before I bricked it but now need root to get it all back lol

1. Download a 4.2.2 FTF - Download.
2. Flash it with Flashtool.
3. Install XZDualRecovery using the unrooted method.
4. Install a prerooted KitKat rom, such as this or a custom rom of your choice.
If you need any help with Flashtool, then just ask.

When updating to a new ROM eg, one at 4.4.x do I really need to upgrade up each build version? I looked at the requirements and one requires the next down, and then again and I think I would need to do it like 4 times.
You shouldn't need to, as most custom roms provide everything you need. The zip sometimes contains everything or sometimes you have to use Flashtool to flash a supplied FTF for the kernel and baseband.
If you're unsure, you could ask in the specific thread for the rom.

Okay so I have never rooted and unlocked a device apart from Nexus'. Is there a Complete guide on how to do this for the .108 firmware?? And what do Ioose when unlocking the bootloader? Is it safe? Should I unlock the bootloader and then root the device following your guide or the other way round? Thnx
Please only start one thread per question, I have locked the other thread you started about this same issue.
First root, follow my signature for guidance (4.4.4 is the easiest to root)
Then backup your TA partition, look in the cross device development section for the TA backup thread.
Finally you can unlock the boot http://bit.ly/1okTnqd.

Oh sorry I needed answers fast Anyway thanks allot for your help!
Also, you should know that you do not need to unlock the boot loader to install a custom recovery. You only need root. And one you root using the newroot method you will have cmw recovery installed.
You only need to unlock the boot loader if you want to flash a custom kernel, or flash a custom rom based on a custom kernel such as CM, AOSP etc

This is the only video I can find but the website now looks totally different
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvUIu5EG3ng
The website has gone through an over haul, but is exactly the same process.
You can use flashtool but you still need the unlock code from Sony.
If you have installed the fastboot, flashode and z1 drivers in flashtool then you do not need to do anything else.
Connect in fast boot mode, type
Fastboot devices
Then you should get a reply back with a serial number.
Then type the command to unlock the bootloader with the code you get from Sony.
To install the drivers from flashtool, goto
C:\flashtool\drivers and run drivers.Exe
Choose fastboot, flashmode and z1 drivers
