Hi guys,
I tried installing cyanogenmod on my new Nook HD+ but when trying to install CM11 it gave me a status 7 error!!
I did make a backup before installing and so I wanted to know how to recover back to factory setting or whether I can still install CM11? When turning the tablet on it just goes to CWM v6.0.4.6
What do I do???
To get to stock go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and make a new bootable CWM SD per item 1a. Use that to flash a plain stock zip from item 6. Follow that with a factory reset by CWM. That takes you back like it came out of the box.
I don't know which guide you used to try to install CM11, but I suggest you use this one:

Thank you for your reply. I did use that guide but I think the CM11 file I downloaded must have been corrupt?
Is there anyway of trying to put another CM11 file on the device without installing stock rom?
I need to get another SD card to try to restore to factor setting.
You said you wanted together back to stock. That is what I told you how to do. You can't use that 6046 CWM to do it.
If you want to try again with CM11, just do it.

Yes I appreciate that, thank you.
I was just wondering whether I could somehow do something now to get CM11 on the device without having to get back to stock?

Just follow the guide. Can you get the SD to boot? What steps were successful? And there must be more to the error message other than status 7. Tell us more.

I don't think I have made myself very clear. Since following the guide I received an error, so I can;t follow the guide now. I just need to try to change the file that was corrupt or start again. I would prefer to change the file but I don't know whether that is possible. If it isn't I will have to buy another sd card to try to solve this problem.
At the moment I can't use the device but it does boot to CWM.
You are not making yourself clear. There had to be more to the error message than "status 7". Maybe you don't remember. Or maybe you lost the file and you cannot try again. And why can't you use the SD you used the first time?

this is what happens:
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E: Error in /data/media/sm-11.....zip
(Status 7)
I suppose I could use the same sd card but don't I have to put the files on the internal sd card for it to reboot to the factory setting?

Now that you have CWM v6046 already on internal memory, it is ok to have the files you want to flash on the external SD. It is only the version on SD that needs the files on internal SD. Get SDFormatter free on the web and use it to format the SD so it goes back to its normal size. Then you can put the CM and gapps zips on the SD. CWM v6046 has an option to flash a zip from external SD.
But that being said, that error message tells me that you have too old of a version of CWM on internal. Are you sure it is version 6046?

When CWM loads that's the version that comes up. I couldn;t see any option of loading from external sd card?
...Also if I take the sd card out then the bootloader doesnt load. the Nook logo just loops?
Thank you, I got it back to Stock and will try the install again!
I got there and installed CM11 now. Thanks for your advice.
I downloaded the wrong CM11 file, instead of downloading the emmc.zip I downloaded Sd-card zip!

Try using the version from my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature. Make it per item 1a. Use that to flash the plain stock 2.2.0 in my item 6 followed by a factory reset with CWM.
PS, and don't be formatting those partitions with CWM, it just gets you into trouble.

Hi All,
I screwed up my nook HD+ while trying to install CM11 without fully understanding the instruction. So I'm up here consulting all the wise people to help me save my Nook HD+Now it's only able to run the stock Nook OS and unable to install any zip file.
Basic info of my tablet:
Nook HD+ 32 Gb.
EMMC CWM-based recovery v6.0.4.6
Here's what I did wrong:
- wipe cache partition
Mounts and Storage Menu
- format /system
- format /data
- format /cache
- format /bootdata
Advanced Menu
- wipe dalvik cache
Current Condition:
Unable to install any zip file; it shows the android guy lying flat on the ground with a red "!".
As of now, it can only run the factory Nook OS.
What do I need to do save this mess so I can get it to run CM11?
I did try to put zips into EMMC through file managers (ran from Nook OS) but the recovery wouldn't install those zips either.
Thank you guys for look at this thread, and any tips/pointers will be greatly appreciated!
You must be using the cwm for cm11 version. Flashing without the correct recovery will cause cm11 flash to fail. Since cm11 does not incude the recovery in its zip you have to flash it manually.
So I will assume your attempting to flash cm11 to the recovery built against an earlier cm version.
Update your recovery to the one specified for cm11.
Its listed on verygreen's cm11 thread here.
Hi sandsofmyst,
I had CM 10.1.3 installed prior to trying to upgrade to CM11.
My Nook HD won't install any zip file right now; every time I try to install a .zip, it just show the android robot laying on the ground. Please let me know if there's a procedure I can follow to get new recovery installed.
Thanks!

HI leapinlar,
Thank you for responding. I've attached a screenshot of the error message. It pretty much went from "Installing update..." to "Installation aborted." right away.
and before I reboot my device, the following message also shows up:
"ROM may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix?"
"Root access is missing. Root device?"
Thank you again.

Since you wiped /bootdata (which you should not have done), you need to go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and make a new bootable CWM SD per item 1a there. Then use that to flash a plain stock zip from item 6 there. That should repair everything and let you start over.

Hi leapinlar,
What .img file do I use to create the CWM SD per instruction 1a?
I've downloaded "the plain stock 2.2.0 for HD+" per instruction 6 and it's a zip file. I tried using "dd" command on Mac and WinD32Disk Imager on Win7 but I can't get them to use zip as image.
I tried the SDFormatter method for 1a, and extracted the files zip file from instruction 6 into the SD card but my Nook can't recognize it during start up.
Once again, than you for all your help.

You have it wrong, do not extract the stock zip. That is what you flash after you have made the CWM SD. You unzip the image zip, the one for your device. It becomes an .img file when unzipped. Use the 4GB version for your device (HD or HD+).

HI leapinlar,
Thank you for your instructions. I was able to flash "NookHDplus-factory-2.2.0-plain-stock" on to my Nook HD+. After rebooting my HD+ with another SD card I created for verygreen's EMMC CM11 install I was able to flash the ovation recovery image (CWM) device still wouldn't flash the CM 11 zip. Also, when I try to reboot with the SD card for CM 11, it's still prompting that "Root access is missing. Root device?" message. What other things do I need to do?
Once again, thank you guys so much for all your help!

That root request message is normal. Just always say no.
After you flashed the plain stock, were you able to boot to stock without the SD inserted?
And you should not be flashing that ovation-6 a second time using 6046.
Try redownloading a different CM11 zip and flashing that. The one you were trying might be corrupt.

Hi leapinlar,
I was able to boot to stock after flashing plain stock.
Yes, I was able to flash CM11 zip by using a re-downloaded version.
Thank you for your help, now my Nook HD+ is back running CM instead of being stuck on stock OS.
I tried searching a little, but can't seem to find what I'm looking for.
I used the files from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2062613
I used the program "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home" to make sure that the sdcard is set to as "primary" and "active". And basically I'm just trying to go from 'CyanogenMod 10.1.3-ovation' back to Stock Rom (back to how I first got it/how Barnes and Noble sold it to me).
I formatted the sdcard, unzipped and moved the files from "NookHDplus-bootable-CWM-6028-for-stock-BOOTFILES-r4-(05.15.13)" to the sdcard, moved and left zipped the "NookHDplus-factory-2.1.1-plain-stock" file (even tried the 2.2.0 file beforehand) to sdcard, and turned on my nook with the sdcard in. I go to "install zip from sdcard", then "choose zip from sdcard", and get the message "E: Can't mount /sdcard/".
Also (if this even matters), to install CM, I followed the instructions in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9aTofeSPbg

No, you have the right files. CWM is just not reading the card. Try reformatting with SDFormatter to fat32 and set it up again.

I'm confused on what files to actually download?!! any help please?
Advice please
kk so last night i had a go at the kit kat tutorial.
Think I got the right files in the end. (see attachment photo)
Managed to get CWM flashed on the 32gb micro SD and insert it into the Nook and reboot it into recovery.
Then i needed to back up stock OS to SD but it goes through the process but at the end it says no EXT SD found.
So it has the back-up on the internal memory which i cannot get off.
Why did it not back up to EXT SD?

That EXT SD it says it cannot find is not the external SD you are thinking of. It is looking for an old scheme not used anymore where apps sometimes were stored in an extra partition named that on the external SD. Your backup was probably stored on the external SD. It depends on which option you chose when you made it. If you chose the wrong option it might be stored on the internal memory. In any case it is easy to get it off.

anyone know whats going wrong?
That is the way it is supposed to be if you are using verygreen's original version of the install method. I assume you are trying to install CM to internal memory. If you are go to the Dummies guide linked in my signature it will let you install properly.
