Hi guys
Sorry for being a noob, i just got my nook today and all was working fine stock,so i decided to try the mod. I wrote the early 3 emmc to a 2gb micro sd card i had then i put the 3 zip files on the nook root internal copy cwm-recovery-ovation-6, cm-11-20140207-NIGHTLY-ovation, pa_gapps-modular-full-4.4.2-20140207
I then turned of the nook popped in the micro sd then turned it on and the screen just went black now it stays black with slight glow my pc sees it and i am able to view all files on it but it will not boot up so i can use it.
Please help i know i probably used wrong sd card or something and have tried the various holding down buttons but nothing works
Thanks
Hk
Anyone please???
Doesn't sound like you actually flashed anything just booting won't Bork your nook. Sounds Like A Bad Device Does It Boot If You Pull The Card And Hold power for 20 seconds

Sounds like you let the battery go below ~15% or so. It cannot turn on if they battery is too low; Needs to be charged until it has enough power to start up.

Surely someone has come across this before??? Is there not a way of sticking something on the nooks internal memory to help or a micro sd card????
The one i put into it as mentioned from the start was not class 4!!! could this have been a issue, is it worth trying a class 4 card with something on it that would help??
Cheers

Try making a new bootable CWM SD by going to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and follow item 1a. See if that boots. If it does not, try a different SD. Report back.

Have you tried hard powering it off? Just hold the power button for like 15 seconds. Then try rebooting.
I reread all your posts. It sounds like you have a screen hardware problem. It may be time for a warranty exchange. Just take it to the nearest B&N store.

I know Im posting a lot, but Im going crazy because I cant get it fixed! My phone shows the htc logo then dies then shows it again over and over when connected to my pc and does nothing when its off. So I got a new battery and it worked great till the battery died and now Im in the same place I started. Any ideas? Or what is the best/cheapest way to get HTC/tmobile to fix it.
sounds like it's not charging ? maybe try an external battery charger.... dirt cheap off ebay..
1 amp charger
I had a similar issue on mine where if the battery got low enough it would refuse to turn on unless you connected it to a wall charger. A PC would not charge it.

Will not be able to format with PC. May be an old nokia but the original card is encrypted. If I was you I would try new card, or any card laying around and see if the phone reads it.

Define what's happening a bit more clearly. When you plug it in, does anything show up? Have you installed CWM 5.0 or 5.5?
As a last resort, try to find someone with another Vivid to try and jump-start the battery.
i plug it in and the led turns to charge for 3 sec then turns off.
the device does not turn on screen is black and the bottom 4 touch buttons react and vibrate to touch but nothing else works.

This happens on my vivid when my phone dies. Only the led will turn on for about 3sec then turn off and screen will quickly display what looks like the recovery page then shuts off and led turns on for 3sec. This cycle repeats itself for about 15min before phone will repower.
If my phone is off and I plug in the phone will power on to recovery screen. This happens even if battery is not drained. I've noticed this happen since I unlocked the bootloader and rooted.
Once when my battery died I plugged in and it booted to recovery screen. I decided to leave it while I showered. When I returned to my phne the screen was off. I tried powering on and nothing. I tried to power to h-boot and nothing. I held the volume down and power button down for almost 5min before my phone would reboot.
Not too sure what's going on...I just make a point to not let my phone die...kinda scary.

Wait, recovery or bootloader? If it's going into CWM, then it is perfectly fine, as CWM 5.0 does NOT support chargemode, so once it has enough power, it'll just stay in CWM while still charging.
If you do have CWM and that isn't happening, then your charger is probably faulty. Don't really know what else to say, as I'm only talking from personal experience.

I do have cwm so I guess its the bootloader. It's the black screen with blue text where you can flash Rom, backup/restore Rom, clear dalvik cache etc...
I'm new to Android, been on iOS since it came out, so I'm still trying to figure out everything and getting familiar with terminology. New to being involved in forums too, so sorry for my ignorance.

I suppose I need to make a .zip people can flash if they're stuck in 5.0 clockwork so they can charge their phones if they get stuck in clockwork.

Good question... CWM 5.5.04 supports chargemode: It won't boot into CWM if it solely needs to charge. I'd presume that it would still charge, but I'm not entirely certain.
i coult not get into recovery at all.
but get this, i spent all morning trying to get this thing to turn on, tried everything.i finally decided to take it to rogers and see if a new battery would fix it up. as i was leaving out the door i just tried to push the power button one last time, the dang thing finally turned on.............i have no idea how the heck this fixed itself but i was glad.
i guess the raider/vivid did ot want to go back to rogers. heh
on a side note when it did turn on it had 1percent battery i ran back insidde and plugged it in right away.

EDIT: I have stopped looking for these threads. The more I look, the more I find. If the above threads don't convince you that there is a serious issue with the vivid, then adding more of the same problem will no longer help.
I have added this thread to a growing list of similar threads. Please read the other threads and see if your issues seem familiar.
From what I understand... Don't let your battery run out on this phone. Some Vivids kill batteries.
Solution? None yet.
1. Buy a new battery once a couple of months-ish, until someone figures out why some Vivids are eating batteries. YMMV
*OR*
2. You might invest in a external charger and see if that can bring the "Vivid munched" battery back to life. YMMV
I vote to thread merge the above threads if this proves to be the issue.

After getting an RA from ebuyer, I now have it working again after a number of hours on charge and doing much as txaggies07 quote suggests. I think there may have been a problem that the charge wasn't going through properly yesterday, even though I plugged it in and it registered on the icon top right. Once the screen died there was no response with the usual charging icon even after disconnect and reconnect (I even tried a different mains socket!) However, since I got it to boot again I have had 2 random reboots without doing anything taxing on it.
It is kinda flaky behaviour, but maybe it is worth a shot aklbeach? At least until Monday !

I had a similar experience. Played with mine for about 6 hours.
Testing things, trying things out, downloading apps, etc.
Put it to sleep and was preparing for bed myself. After a few minutes
I decided to download one more app. Tried to wake it up, but it was dead!
Tried all sorts of things: long press, pressing several of the buttons, tried
to connect it to PC to see if it would be recognized -- no go
I then plugged it into the wall to charge it overnight to see if that would work (no charging icon showed up)
The next day, still dead.
Called Google Play and they are sending me a new one.
I would say pull the battery for a minute and then plug it back in a try again but i think that might void the warranty. Seriously my G2 does that when its in my pocket sometimes and pressing the power button does nothing until a pull the battery. I'm about 68% sure that pulling the battery will get it to boot again.
Honestly though any electronic device with a sealed battery should come with on of those paperclip hard reset buttons, unfortunately logic fails some time.

No worries, not a waste. I had to check myself when it died. And when it wouldn't charge (did I turn it on at the wall? Maybe the socket is broken? Has there been a power cut? Am I imagining this?) Weird thing was it came back to life after much fiddling. I now think there may have been a stray piece of plastic or similar covering a pin and blocking the feed.

Okay so I usually charge my phone over night the other day I wake up check the phone and it wasn't charging. It keeps giving me the cannot charge in usb host mode. I know this has been posted a hundred times but I have read through the forums and tried every fix. Nothing works. Battery drains in a couple of hours with no use. My question is should I try to change the battery or the usb port? Has anyone had success with this? Or should I just sell it and get something else? Thanks for reading. Phone is not rooted completely stock. It does charge only when turned off, intermittently and only to about 98%.

But seriously you can unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery and do a factory reset / format data
then flash a rom it may come back to life.

then push volume up and tap the power button
it should show stock recovery and do the factory reset in their

in bootloader hook to the PC tap power one time you should be in fastboot USB ... the PC should make a sound and you will be in fastboot mode.

I think it's probably hardware related though. A similar case recently where the phone would only charge briefly while turned off, fortunately the device was still functional, after flashing everything possible, finally ended up making it s-off and returning it to stock to send for warranty.
Maybe your fastboot problem is driver related but considering your bootloader is freezing I'd say it's a problem with the phone rather than drivers

probably hardware defect. You can have a brand new M7 from ebay for about 350$ so I don't think it worth the 350$ to get it repaired, just buy another one and keep that one for parts.

I know this has been posted a hundred times but I have read through the forums and tried every fix. Nothing works.

yeah, i tend to agree it's a hardware problem; if you've already tried the other fixes (including cleaning the phone's usb port, and trying a different charger & cable), then either your usb port is borked, possibly the battery, even maybe the internal connections.
sorry mate
Thanks I'm probably just going to buy another phone it's just a kick in the butt. You guys are really great for taking the time to try and help. One question should I get a nexus5 or another m7 I have T-Mobile but buy phones from craigslist or eBay I don't like getting the newest phone they loose value way too fast.

Here's the full story.... my rear camera wasn't working so I went into twrp, made a back up and restored a previous. It didn't resolve the issue so I went back in to restore my most recent backup but it failed. No biggie, I backup to "the cloud" so I wouldn't lose anything I really needed. Reboot to system, get LG logo for a couple secs then security error right below it, the the device powers off. I'm on the second to newest TMo update that took away download mode so no luck there, device is not recognized at all when plugged in to computer and I can't boot back in to recovery although I could be doing it wrong, I always got to recovery from the power menu. So if someone could verify for me how to get into recovery using the physical buttons that'd be great. Also any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Try having your phone connected to a usb cable and just pressing the vol+ button it should get to download mode like this.

I don't have download mode. T-Mobile removed it in one of the updates.

OK well if there aren't any additional suggestions I'll send it back to LG, I'll update this post with price to repair in case anyone else finds themselves in the same unfortunate situation.

I woudnt give it back to lg if i was you mate, lg would charger mega buckets for it,
i suggest go to a local phone unlocking and repair shop as they would do it for cheap
I don't think there's anything a repair shop can do that I can't and if this thread is any indication there's nothing I can do lol. My guess is LG will swap out the motherboard. I'm thinking 150 at the most. I'm currently looking for another G Flex with a cracked screen, if I can find one at a decent price I may just do that myself.

No, I haven't but it appears in order for this to work the device would need to be recognized by a computer when connected, mine is not. I think this is what I should have done before I got the security error to get download mode back lol. Nevertheless I'll give it a shot this evening when I get home. Thanks for the suggestion.
