Yes you can update from OTA but after update your root will be no more so you need to root it again...

You are correct that you can update OTA. Root can be retained by using, for example, the "Survival mode" of SuperSu Pro. ?

It'll still find updates OTA then yeah? No risk by doing that?

If you didn't change any system files you won't have problems.

I've deleted bloatware. Does that count? Or do you specifically mean OTA files in system?
Deleting bloatware affects ota.

So what would I need to do to upgrade firmware in the future? Restore to OFW, upgrade then reroot?

It's out there somewhere, but I don't remember where and I don't have time to find it. Use the search feature and do some reading and I'm sure you'll find it. Especially check the thread dedicated to 257 firmware

Flash "C6903 14.1.G.1.534 Generic DK 1276-1249_R5A" from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469191
then root with kingo , then make supersu update & system app (2 restarts required)
then go to Sony update and update OTA.
You will have latest version 14.1.G.2.257 ( it is stock Euro - no bloat) with root.

use this method.
I have a question too. I have a C6902, can I flash C6903 into my device?

No, it might brick your phone.
My device is C6902, and now I'm using .257 firmware. If I using flashtool to flash .534 but not wipe data, does it cause brick my phone?

No, it will not brick your phone if you choose not to wipe data. But make sure you're flashing a C6902 534 firmware.

I am running .290 atm and when I plug into PCC, says my newest firmware to update is.136. I want to skip. 136 because of all the bugs. Does this mean KK is not available for me yet?

Download FTF's from Development and use FlashTool to flash them, follow a tutorial if you want to preserve root

maybe it's a revision. I believe it has to do with the numbers after the firmware number .230 R1A, R2D, etc.

Even I got a 2 mb update with description as .230
Same here even I got the update. It seems better scrolling between multiple apps seems good.

Why do people keep saying this?
I have updated ota many times and never lost root.
Does somebody have list of updated files?
