Rom and android problem - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Hi, I wanted to install cyanogen mod 11 nightly on my s3 i9305.
So what i did:
1. installed cf auto root using odin
2. installed twrp recovery using odin
3. then I copied gapps and cyanogen mod zip to my phone
4. made a backup of my system (boot & system)
5. wiped system,dalvikcache,cache
6. then i tried flashing with cm 11 and i got an error with code 7.
And i tried to remove the check from update-script, nothing.
Now when i to install different roms it does the same thing.
What can i do to fix this and get cm 11, because i don't like samsung original os an touch wiz????:crying::crying:

Hi! I guess it's outdated recovery or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522762

[Q] Constant Boot Loops when trying to install new ROMs

I have CWM 4.00.15 installed and I tried to install Ryyu's Rom (Wipe) by putting it on the SD card and rebooting into recovery, then selecting the zip file and hitting apply. When the installation tried to update my kernel, it just froze and rebooted. I was then stuck on a boot loop between the Galaxy S screen and the CyanogenMod boot screen. I know that Ryyu's did not install correctly because the CyanogenMod boot screen was still there. I had to use 3 button recovery and erase cache, davlik cache and user data before trying to install AOSP Essence, but same problem happened. Installation dies and phone keeps rebooting in loops. Finally, gave up and went back to CyanogenMod Nightly and it worked.
Why can't I seem to install any other ROMs besides Cyanogen? I know I am doing something wrong, but not sure what. Any advice/help appreciated. Thanks.
Have you tried starting from a clean install?
Try starting with a stock rom and then to activate Cwm flash a modded Kernel.

Hi,
this is what I initially did to get Cyanogen on:
1. Used Superoneclick root to root phone
2. Check that 3 button recovery and download mode works. Recovery version was 3e, so installed superlagfix from android market. This automatically installed ClockworkMod Recovery as well.
3. Use CWM and flashed recovery for Samsung Galaxy S i9000
4. Reboot into recovery and select the CyanogenMod zip file and click apply to install.
To install subsequent ROMs, I just put the zip file on my SD card, reboot into recovery and repeat step 4 above, after clearing cache and user data. It is after that I get stuck on boot loops.
I did do a Nandroid backup before my initial Cyanogen install so I can go back and restore it, but it would be Froyo.
when coming from CM / MIUI - Samsung based ROM
you MUST flash a 3 file firmware with pit and re-partition.
Cyanogen and MIUI use different partitions than samsung ROMs so this is why you are having issues.
Ok, just managed to flash Darky's EE 10.2 using Odin. Not sure if Odin is the ideal way, but it worked. Really enjoying Darky's. Thanks folks!

[Q] Installing AOSP Beta 8 and 9 for P7300

Hi,
I have tried to install both AOSP Beta 8 and 9 for P7300. I get the error the same error message both times, status 7 which is guess is due to that I'm using the wrong CMW file (version 5.5....). Reading the forums it seems like cmw 6.0.1.0 works pretty well. Is there a repository where I can download these CMW files? I have search but not really found any good place. What combination of AOSP version and CMW is best? Do I need to change the kernal also?
Any help is welcome!
Kind regards,
Mikael Hagström
I recomand you to install the cwm 6.0.0.8, i think it's the best and this should fix your problem.

Don't think recovery version is to blame.
Do you have the 7300 or 7310 galaxy tab?
What was the last Rom / recovery that you flashed with Odin?
IIRC status 7 is an assert failure, so you could also turn off assert verification in the recovery, before flashing... Or remove offending assert from the update script in aosp ROM zip. (probably a line like test for p5 or p7300)
Or you can flash CWM 6.0.0.8 from the thread on cm9 (kallt_kaffe) , post #2. Although file is named 6008, it really is 6010... If you insist on that route

Thanks for your replies.
I have the P7300.
I'm back on the stock ROM now since I could not get the AOSP ROM to work.
I tried removing the assert lines. The tablet hang on the X (Nexus) screen when I rebooted.
I will try both again with the new Clockwork Recovery file.
Hi,
I tried again his morning. With CWM 6.0.0.8 from the thread on cm9 and the ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789464. It now installs but when I reboot is gets stuck at the black screen with the colourful Nexus X. I left it like that for 25 min but no change just the X. This is how I do it.
I start of with the stock ROM (Build number HTJ85B P7300XWKL4)
I root the device and install superuser and root check (that tells me it have been rooted)
I install CWM 6.0.0.8 from boot by running the ZIP file
I boot up into Clockwork Recovery and install the AOSP ZIP. The tablet restarts after install but gets stuck at the screen with the X.
Do I need to do a wipe?
I'm I missing some steps?

[Q] Newbie doubts on i9305t.

Hello everyone;
I'm all new to this rooting and flashing thing, and I've been reading lots of tutorials and wikis, but still some questions remain:
1. I have a carrier-unlocked i9305t (It came with carrier software and the carrier logo shows up everytime I start the phone, but it is unlocked to any sim-card in my country). Should I flash the device to CyanogenMOD 11 (which is available for i9305, not i9305t), would my phone brick? Or, in other words, what are the main differences between i9305 and i9305t and can I install a custom ROM for i9305 in i9305t?
2. What's the difference between rooting and installing a custom recovery (such as TWRP)? Will installing a custom recovery give me root acces to my phone?
[edit] 2.1. So I've found that I can root my phone through a custom recovery by flashing a SuperSu (super user) file on it. Where can I find a safe SuperSu file for i9305t?
3. I've found this tutorial (can't post the link thanks to forum rules, sorry!) for installing CyanogenMOD 11 in i9305 in which there's no mention to rooting the device: the process consists of installing a custom recovery in the phone and, from there, flash the CyanogenMOD 11 ROM. Is this correct and safe?
Then again, thanks for the help and sorry for the bad english, I'm not a native speaker.
Cheers!
You can flash any i9305 tom on your phone. The t just has to do with the frequency bands your phone uses. All you need to do is flash a custom recovery. Root is included in cm 11 so you only need to flash that

I just got a i9305T too, rooted, downloaded latest CM 11 nightly, when tried to intall zip it gave me Status 7 error, something about my device being a 'm0' and so not compartible.
I somehow wiped the stock system and can't mount USB with the TWRP... Now I'm downloading things so I can flash the stock and get back to square one.
What's going on and what can I do? Will I always have the latest CM Roms? Otherwise I'm somehow giving up this phone. Please help me.

I am a CM i9305T user here. For me, TWRP gives me error codes but then changing to ClockWorkMod recovery (latest version) solved error code 7. I used everything for i9305 for my i9305T phone and I have no problems. Try installing ClockWorkMod and flash CM + GApps.

I have an I9305T running CM11, I found I had to use the TWRP for the I9305, as the one for the I9305T (which is not yet updated to 2.7) did not allow me to flash CM. CM works fine for me, and I flashed the modem.bin that I extracted out of the latest 4.3 update from Telstra (Aus) which gives me the same LTE network speeds as I was getting on stock.
1. No you will not brick your phone... difference between 9305 and 9305T is in the frequencies that the phone uses to connect to your mobile operator...95% is the same for all..but for a few countries is not...they use different frequencies to connect the phone to the network...so samsung releases a version of the phone with T at the end.
2. A custom recovery is for installing new ROMs on the phone...installing new mods...and stuff...you have access to internal parts of the device... it has a interface with different option....combo to access it: volume up+home+power
I recommend CWM recovery.
Root access is like administrator on windows...by default you can't access system files on your phone and other stuff...for safety reasons...rooting your phone enables access to that stuff...but if you are a newbie better not to root.
2.1 Here is the package: download.chainfire.eu/supersu - but at the moment i'm writing this the site is dowm.
3. Yes...the order of installing CM11 is:
a) Back-up first in case of failure - i don't do this cause it takes a lot of time and i don't have anything important on the phone...i use cloud storage.
b) Install custom recovery and enter custom recovery
c) do a full wipe - factory reset + cache partition + dalvik cache
d) install ROM
e) install GApps.
Every ROM has it's own install instructions...just follow them.

[Q] KitKat fails to install

Hi. I am supporting my friend. Who has the i9305, via teamviewer so i am using the Universal android toolkit, and it worked ok.
I rooted it, and installed twrp 2.6.3.0 but here i failed. I could not install kitkat or anything else. So i had to revert to cm 10.1.3 and the camera does not work also the android keyboard from gapps 20130812 did fail to work. I had to push him a swiftkey apk, to work.
Now is my question what do i have to do to install cm 11 for i9305 ???
Just a new recovery?
Because every newer file just gets aborted and doesnt install, no liquid smooth or cm11.
Thanks.
My device was on 4.3 and I flashed Philz touch recovery and did a backup and restore. Then it stuck at Samsung logo when booting.
Wiping caches, resettings, fixing permissions, ...... non of them worked.
Finally I could get it booting by flashing 4.4.4 Stock Rom using Odin 3.07
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ck-rom-4-4-4-gt-i9305n-i9305nxxufni4-t2886807
Its working PERFECT now
also rooted using this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...covery-i9305-cwm-philz-twrp-versions-t2694249
(In this time I did not used any recovery mentioned in the post. I just rooted it)
:good:
