Is it normal to have Knox warranty void 0x0 after root? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Is it normal to have Knox warranty void 0x0 after root? And does that mean that my warranty is voided or not?

Yes its normal and 0x0 means your warranty is still valid. if its 0x1 then no warranty

Historically after root, no, that is not normal. For some reason with TowelRoot, that is exactly what happens. KNOX counter doesn't trip. That is what makes this root method even more amazing aside from the fact that it is the easiest root method ever to perform.

As a rule usually the Root method does cause knox to trip however, that being said there are a couple methods that dont trip knox warranty one is towelroot the other is kingoroot (mostly used on the galaxy tab 3 for AT&T) this is not the norm tho so don't expect such luxuries as a rule.

[Q] Reset KNOX bootloader binary

Dear all,
I am just rooted my S3 I9305 and the KNOX warranty void shows 1 instead of 0.
I did some research in the logs stored in my device and I found a file recovery_log.txt
When I scrolled through the file I could see what exactly happens during booting and when the warranty binary had been changed. (see the attachment)
Unfortunately I am not a developer. It would be nice if somebody could look into the file and try to help release a fix.
Thanks a lot
See multiple Knox posts , No fix available and that is the current situation until whenever .
Its an efuse that gets burnt out .
On the I9305, the Knox flag is an eMMC RPMB field (a new kind of hidden partition), not sure about other phones. It should be resettable, but possibly only with JTAG - it's still being investigated.

If it is an efuse the you can only bypass it via software or do a hardware repair, no real software fix will ever come out (you ca fix a hardware problem with software).
I'm hoping for a way to disable or un install knox after you flash it but you didn't modified the counter.:highfive:
On the I9305, Knox is ddefinitely not an efuse.

Hey man, thanks for the great info!
You seem pretty knowledgeable... any chance you know if it is possible to downgrade 4.3 bootloader to 4.1.2 bootloader or if this will fail/cause brick?

IS the galaxy s5 going to get root anytime soon?

Is the galaxy s5 going to get root? If so how long? Can't wait to root this device!!

Odin root may or may not be possible on the ATT variant, only time will tell.
It time to return s5

I saw a post from Chainfire indicating he was releasing auto-roots for a bunch of variants today(he didn't mention which ones but I've got my fingers crossed). Apparently the current bottleneck is Sammy's crappy d/l servers.
Looks like no dice with Chainfire, at least for now. https://plus.google.com/+Chainfire/posts/JVxv5298wdU
Apparently he needs the recovery extracted from the firmware. I checked sammobile.com for our firmware and they haven't put it out yet. I sure hope they do.

Yeah thats the part I'm not following. Can't I pull this from the Phone with Odin and send it to him or does the dump function not work on the S5?

You can't usually dump the recovery partition without having root...usually a custom recovery is needed...hence he needs the firmware which contains the recovery partition.

Just curious if we will be able to root without a unlocked bootloader. With other devices I don't recall that being an issue. But then again this is the first one I've had that's been this locked down.

CF root likely won't work if the ATT BL is locked, but the only definitive way to check is to get the firmware and extract the recovery, send it to CF and have him package something up and then have someone flash with Odin, if the BL is locked, then it will either fail to flash, fail to boot, or worse, also once you flash anything not deemed official you trip the knox warranty flag and your without a warranty..

I'm pretty sure root will break some things. I was able to sign up for Isis and get the $50 credit, but my wife wasn't able since her Note 3 is rooted. Google Wallet might still work though. Ready to root though.

You might want to tell everybody in the op that as of right now flashing a custom recovery will trip knox.
So quick question guys:
If I root the S6 with the new tool, it won't trip Knox?
Once its rooted, would I be able to replace the lock screen with the one from stock android and replace the dialer with the google dialer? I love stock experience but I wanted a premium device so I went with the S6.
Thanks.

Unrooting.
Is it possible to unroot at some point after using this method? Lets say I need to use my warranty for the phone. Is unrooting possible?

No.. Your warranty is gone forever.
Why do people keep asking this silly question, you root your phone you kiss your warranty goodbye.

You shouldn't answer unless you're sure. This root method can be reversed by used ODIN to completely go back to stock.

Void Knox

New to the Samsung community. Just upgraded to a S6 Edge from an M7. I'm used to the S-OFF or the normal Nexus unlock.
So exactly, what happens when you trip the Knox counter? What will you be able to do after?

Of you trip Knox you will gain nothing. Their is no way to unlock the boot loader. Heck I don't even know how to trip Knox on the Verizon variant

Root and Return

Cheers guys for looking.
Can I root my Note 5, flash a kernel etc and return to stock with no problems I.e tripping Knox, not being able to use Samsung Pay?
I've looked around and not got a definitive answer.
TIA,
Chris.

No. Once Knox is tripped you can't use samsung pay. Ever. Even if you flash back to stock.
Tripping Knox really only impacts use of samsung pay and shows a notification that the system is modified during boot. How big an issue those are you you, you need to decide.
Typically samsung will still repair phones with tripped Knox, but there are no guarantees. And whether you would be able to return a phone with tripped Knox is up to your retailer. No one here can answer that.
