My lg optimus black is running stock ics 4.0.4.I want to flash other rom because this one it's slow. I've tried to unlock the bootloader with bootloader unlocker and did not worked. I can get into recovery with CWM from Rom Manager. Now, the question is: SHOULD I UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER for flashing a gingerbread ROM(stock or a custom rom based on it) with Smart Flash Tool?
I hope someone with experience to come and help me

If you can get into CWM and your phone is running a completely stock ICS ROM, then your bootloader is unlocked. I'm not sure that you can flash a Gingerbread ROM on an ICS bootloader. You can always try it and if it fails you can use SmartFlash Tool to recover your phone, but I recommend to directly flash this with SmartFlash Tool. If you flash it you'll have a Gingerbread ROM with a Gingerbread bootloader and a CWM recovery that you can use to flash whatever ROM you want.

Hi,
I have some experience with ROMing but I really do only basic staff. First of all, info:
Device is SGS1, with an Israeli operator stock ROM (2.2), not rooted, not SIM free.
Never messed with an SGS before, only Atrix and used to doing everything easily with ROM Manager but on SGS I'm reading about Udin, flash stock before custom ROMs etc and decided to stop and ask...
Is it possible to simply, root, install ROM Manager, flash CWM recovery and get going (nandroid and full wipe before installation of course)? This is what I did on the Atrix (with the addition of unlocking the BL which I understood is not needed here)
Again, I just want basic ROM flashing the way I am used to with the Atrix
Thanks!
You can enter the recovery with the stock ROM. Power off your phone, then when its completely off, hold volume up+home key+power button then wait for the recovery to show up.
Not following you.
The device doesn't even have root. Is the BL really unlocked from stock? Is it ok to do everything with ROM Manager all the time as long as I do a full wipe?

The easiest way would be flashing a Gringerbred Firmeware that is alerady rooted.
Try and follow these instructions: http://www.darkyrom.com/index.php?threads/odin-darkyrom-10-2-resurrection-gt-i9000.4272/
After installing that Rom, your Phone will have unlocked BL, Root-rights and other Stuff You'll need for flashing.
Just give it a try you can use Rom Manager as well after following and flashing that Rom
Edit: If you flashed that custom Rom you are abel to flash all other Roms like these Stock Roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948790
Just read a while and don't forget to make Backups of your User Data and your EFS-Folder!!
Hy!
After I changed gb layout to ics layout, I installed a rom ([ROM] ICS-android 4.0.4-FLEX-ICER), which works me perfectly, but if i'd like to change for another rom (new ics bootloader roms) CWM can't flash it. I changed the layout with all-in-one toolkit. CWM is v6.0.1.5. What can I do? Thank you for your answers
Strange issue ^^'
Did you format system ?
Or maybe try reflahing CWM (don't remember which version is for New ICS unlocked bootloader)
Or a good NVflash as usual

I see all my internal storage, i made fortmat in cwm try install other roms, but nothimg change can i change cwm with all in one toolkit? Or change back to gb partition layout? I`m a little bit noob so...
Yes haven't tried but for sure you can flash cwm from AIO toolkit and also go back to GB layout too
I think you should try to NVflash a rom (ICS or GB bootloader) then root (AIO) flash a cwm recovery (Still from the perfect AOI toolkit) and reflash the rom you want from cwm, that's the cleanest way

Could you suggest me a rom? Or i need to flash original rom? (thank you for your help )
Sometimes the problem lies with your downloaded rom. Maybe its corrupted and not downloaded properly. Try redownloading it or download a new compatible ROM. DjangoManouche X 1.2.1 by carburano works for me.You can give that a try. Or ParanoidAndroid v2.5 by tonyp.
Everyone forgets to flash this special recovery when wanting to flash CM10 based roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2058231
read the post, flash the special recovery, then bam you'll be able to flash your new rom.
Hi all
I have CM 10.2 and CWM recovery installed on my Z. Now I'm going to sell it and would like to "revert" to the stock ROM.
I realized that the Flash Tool by Bin4ry and Androxyde only works with stock, locked bootloaders so I cannot install original ROMs the "normal" way.
I assume I need to find a stock ROM image zipped in a format that is compatible with CWM recovery, and flash from there?
Thanks for all help
nope it should work with any Rom just download the ftf you want and flash it it would work with any Sony Device either Locked or Unlocked
Hello Guys,
I tried many custom ROM CM 10.1.3 to CM 11 and Vanir and ROMS based on stock JB
I want to flash Stock ICS Euro Open because It was the least lagging ROM for me
Can any one post a link to stock ICS Euro Open in ZIP format?
ZIP format? You mean make it flashable through the bootloader? I think that's not possible since ICS doesn't support bootloader for our device...
You should try flashing the KDZ...

So ICS can't be in zip format and flashed like custom mods?
I'm afraid it can't be flashed like the other custom ROMs, sorry. There is a way to do it though, through the LG Firmware updater. Maybe this will help you out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2179126
Thanks a lot, when I do that down grade do I lose the custom recovery and the unlocked boot loader? and as a result I won't be able to flash custom ROMs until I install a new custom recovery and so on?
Bootloader stays unlocked but you wull loose cwm recovery. You wont be able to install any other custom rom untill you update to 20x software and just install cwm again. No need to unlock bootloader again since it will stay unlocked.
Hi! Some months ago I flashed a kernel from here in XDA. The kernel was from Doomlord, to install CWM Recovery. But the device came into infinite boot. Then to solve it I flashed a stock rom (12.0.A.2.254) to see if the problem was solved..
Solved problem, the device came to normal (at least the infinite loop was solved).
But after flashing the Doomlord kernel, even flashing a stock rom, when I receive a message and visualize it, the LED stays turned on, and off only when rebooting. When I reboot the device, date/time are lost. The date in the top bar is updated only if I turn off the screen and then turn on again.
I tried reblock bootloader and repair from PC Companion. I tried flash the stock 4.3. I tried flash only the stock kernel. But nothing solves the problem.
Someone can help me?
Sorry for my english, I'm brazilian
You CANNOT relock bootloader while in custom kernel.
Unlock bootloader again, go in flashtool and flash the stock ftf, doom kernel isn't stable yet, use only stock or try another kernel...

I unlocked BL and flashed a stock (12.1.A.1.207). The problem continues. I tried too flash a stock 12.0.A.2.254 after unlock BL. In 4.1 the only problem is the date that is lost when rebooting. But flashing 4.3 stock all the previous problems continues. After receive messages, even if I read it, LED still on until I reboot the device. Date is lost after reboot, bla bla..
Maybe the problem is not the kernel that I flashed some months ago. What do you think? Some idea?
Guy, try this rom, and say if the problem continues
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...nality-update-xperia-performance-max-t2895506
Unlock bootloader to use this rom
It is a great rom
If you don't like custom roms you can try the stock I'm using
