I'm sorry but has gotta be the most boring forum I ever encountered since being on XDA.
It just dead!!!! it either nobody got nothing to talk about, or the S5 has been a poor seller, all the other Galaxy forums on XDA are alot more active than this place, even the S4 one.
Or is there another reason why nobody bothering to post much these days?
Cause XDA has lost its touch. S5 is great but I have stopped development on phones like most devs have. XDA is boring. /My Opinion

Maybe it's just such a great phone, easy to root, and with Xposed modules, you don't need anything else. Battery life and performance are great, the OS keeps improving.
Perhaps people are realizing that there is more to life than caring about minuscule incremental upgrades to your phone.

Xposed & NOVA = perfect phone
Nothing more to add. Still using stock firmware, no need to change that untill stable CM or Google Play Edition firmware will show up. Untill then it's perfect as it is with towelroot.
I can agree with all above. Rooted and Xposed. So far so good. Cyanogen or Google play edition would be nice , but until then no worries.
Xposed + wanam + TouchWiz Xposed + Nova + Google everywhere = amazing everything

I'm just learning. Being new it's a fine line to actively contribute whilst trying to avoid getting 'search forum' to everything you post.
I can say I've learned vast -- incredibly vast -- amounts in my short time here. Been anxiously waiting my first rom flash. Had to get SD card (im new to smartphones also) but then my charge flap broke so now i need to take it in for a fix. Having towelroot only, and just started tinkering with nova & themer today.
I did not want to buy the S5 to be honest but I am glad I did. Great phone with zero lags an good battery life. No complaints so far ?

to be honest i think most of the rom devs want the gps and camera errors to be fixed, then well get aokp pa and cm
Maybe because everyone already has experience in XDA so most problems are solved
And the fact a new phone is pushed out almost every month?

XtreStolite works perfect, really amazing rom+nova and of course xposed give me a really smooth experience and almost 3 days battery power, couldnt be happier with this phone

It is summer so there is not as much activity.
And we have a perfect root method and there are some good custom ROMs for TW and some kernels that are very good for modding and tweaking. We got pretty much what we need until the camera and gps issues is fixed for some custom roms, there is not too much to talk about right now. So the activity is not as high. Come up with some interesting topics if you feel there is something missing in SGS5 General!

Amidst all the threads with 4.2 bashing and complaining and websites calling 4.2 the worst since Honeycomb, I wanted to just say that 4.2 is the best version of the OS to date. I've been sole on Android since 2009 with the Droid release and had experience since eclair. A major gripe I've always had with Android is that regular reboots were required to keep the system running efficiently. Custom Roms were required to have good features. But Android has matured to the point of greatness.
I have a De-Odexed version of 4.2 with not one reboot in over 100 hours on my Nexus 7 and Ive been draining the battery to at least 10% each day. (I use it a lot Lol). This is something I would never have been able to do on any other version of the OS. It is fast, stable and very efficient.
Way to go Google... Can't wait for the next one
Don't worry, it's always the same handful of whingers. Besides them, there are millions of satisfied owners...
If there were a company in the market who had changed their business model from innovation to litigation,
and they had more cash than any other company on earth,
you would think they might be spending some of that cash throwing up FUD for their competitors.
No one says they have to play fair.
Same here, really like and enjoy 4.2.
Of course there's a couple of bugs, esp. with new features, but that's nothing unusual and they will be fixed.
On another note: would you mind telling me how and what you used to deodex 4.2?
Wanna mess around again the ROM but the tools I got barely worked on 4.0 so can't even think of using them on 4.1 or even 4.2.... :-/
Appreciated

I just prefer 4.1.2. I just haven't been whining about it all over the forum.
The only feature that I actually used on 4.2 was the keyboard. So I downgraded back to 4.1.2 and just flashed the keyboard. And 4.1.2 performs better on my device.

I love it. Chrome seems light years faster.
As much as I would love to give my thanks to google for this update I can not. I've been using android since cupcake and one of the biggest fans. Eleven different devices running android over the years. I am always one of the lucky ones and don't have the issues others complain about, untill now.
I've had my n7 since launch and it is the only android I never bothered to root as it was perfect from the start and I had little use for my rooted apps. After the ota I had constant hot reboots and a somewhat flawed ui (not that's a real complaint as much of that was supposed to happen) not to mention worse battery life and slower charges.
I was forced to root, and am happy I did, alrdeay running three different custom roms and pretty impresses, much more so than googles official 4.2 update
This is the first time that in my opinon the update was worse than the previous.
So I guess I like it as it finally made me root my n7!

I quite like 4.2 the only thing I would like added is a restart option on the power button. Have had some random reboots but its nothing major for me and as apps get updated they are getting less frequent.
I don't think I have ever bashed a release version in over 3 years of solely using droid os.
Cursed a few custom ROMs tho

Did you perform a full wipe after updating to 4.2. If not it might have been some incompatible apps making your n7 do the reboots and other things. By the way do you have an 8 or 16 GB n7? I have 16, and haven't had a single problem after updating.

I dont feel like saying thanks google because its their job. and on one side am happy on the other i wait for 4.2.1 to fix all the bugs ..so its balanced
I haven't had an issue with performance at all did a clean install from a image and been great.
The only thing that I find useless are the " quick settings" cause they are not quick making a five step process into a four step process is not quick

A full wipe doesn't help. I did one before installing 4.2. I haven't had a reboot since I uninstalled HD Widgets, but it hasn't been that long. It may not be causing the problem, but it certainly does seem to make the problem come to the forefront.
Well I have noticed that HD widgets are fine until you use a lock screen widget then all hell breaks loose.

But the HTC one is riddled with QC issues and doesn't really improve much over the last Gen of phones. The next Gen has snapdragon 800, 3000 mAh batteries and whatnot. Plus, the 800s are really close. Like the G2 is already here.
The One isn't that good IMHO. The camera is overhyped really and the number of defects people are reporting make this phone worth skipping.
To stay on track with your question the CM experience is something I don't think someone in their right mind would recomend. Hell it has a tendency to burn up some phones and need replaced.

I agree if your sole decision is CM. Then wait. Cm was better on my gs3 than on here. It's pretty buggy and as has been said there are many reports of people's phones bricking cause of cm. To the quality control issue... I have had none, this phone has been great in that regard... But maybe I'm just lucky . In all honesty, overall this is the best phone I've ever owned. I don't think you'd go wrong with this phone.

My $0.02:
For the short while I was able to use CM, I wasn't exactly blown away. It was exactly the same as my GS2, but with better specs. There were no extra features or anything. It looked nice with Black Infinitum, but again, not really different from my old phone. There were some bugs, so...
And you do have to watch out for the max freq lock, which will burn up your phone as it sits.
EDIT: However, CM Nemesis is coming soon. I would still wait for for a new device with better specs, but hey, this is a fairly new device.

I really haven't had any issues since 10.1
Sent from my One using XDA Premium HD app
I used it for a week while on vacation and while it was nice to see a less bloated One with all the additional customization .. there were several issues and features that made me go back.
The biggest was GPS lock - I could not get a steady lock and if I did the radius was quite large, throwing me all over the map.
The phone actually seemed less responsive overall - including a slight delay when turning on the phone.
Missed the htc car app - google car and the ones from the market are not the same
and the IR - now it has only come in handy once, when my remote died; however, the remote can be fun at the bar
The HTCOne is a unique phone, the button layout is strange and is my biggest headache. Contrary to most posts above I like the CM experience on it better then sense, but this is my first (and only ever!) sense phone. I much prefer the AOSP experience. CM is lacking in a few places but core functionality is there and works good enough for me for daily use, for the record I'm on 10.2 20130819
Truthfully though I think I would wait for a new nexus device. I love the feel of the One in my hand but it's nothing amazing hardware wise.

Also, does the wake still take like a second? That was also a problem with 10.1.

Agree with you. As mentioned before I picked up HTC One today. Basically is the same ( meaning OS), but somehow feel better...Right now preparing to flash GE ROM,as I'm not a fan of Blinkfeed and "limited" customisation. Tbh,my S3 LTE never gave me any issue (touchwood!), so probably will keep both phones... My point is that with M7 GE will get faster updates, and hopefully smooth experience. Also I'm not fancy all the "extras" supplied with both devices (Touchwizz/Sense). Thankfully, few apps/widgets are available from play store,so will see how it goes...

Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Verdict is that for the "version 1" device Samsung made great hardware - much better than anything else available on the market like sony, pebble, etc
and for the firmware - using rom developed by fOmey the functionality is GREAT - much better than the stock rom. It is all related to Your local preferences, but in fact with the custom rom You are getting miniature tablet! Read the ROM thread - at least OP and You will see how much had been achieved just in one month.
I really like the device, and the functionality superb!

And we have ( semms so..) the attention of samsung regarding the updates/improvements.

With respect this is am impossible question to answer. Read the specifications and if it fits your requirements then it will be fine for you. Its totally subjective and down to personal taste and what your expectations are. No single person can answer your question only you.
For example why did you purchase the note 3? That is also a very personal taste and again a subjective purchase.
I have owned them both from day one and so far enjoy them though neither are special in my own opinion (again subjective). They do what I require of them so they fit the bill in my case. I dislike the quality of construction of the note 3 and the GG could potentially have some issues with moisture. Read the threads here and providing you use caution with the GG you may enjoy it? Some don't some do.
It's so strange as good of a phone as the s6 is and still a relatively recent release in comparison the s4 S5 seen way more development in less time then the little that the s6 has seen .
Is there a reason for this ?

This. I found that international ROMs are much better. You lose WiFi calling which can be useful but I found it detrimental to battery life. All T-Mobile based ROMs sucked at battery life for me. Averaging 2-3 hours screen on time at most. As soon as I switched to international I got 4-6 hours screen on time on average with a daily cycle of 22-26 hours.
Much better. Try them out.
