After entering my password in several different apps, when I hit the “Go” or “Next” button, my password gets entered twice. For example, if my password is “ABC”, I enter ABC, then I hit Next, “ABCABC” is entered. Is this a common problem?

I have no problem logging in if I do the following:
If my password is ABC, I type ABC. Hit go, now I see ******. So I delete the last three characters, hit go and I am logged in.
The problem is, my password is entered twice. For example, if my password is “ABC”, I enter ABC, then I hit Next, “ABCABC” is entered. That is why I delete the last three characters before proceeding.
Another example:
Another example:
Go to VPN settings. Credentials are protected by a password. When I enter my credentials password, I enter ABC, then I hit Done, “ABCABC” is displayed. So I delete the last three characters before going forward. Interestingly, I do not have this problem when entering my VPN password.

Hi
I have recently updated the firmware on my n7000 from 2.3.6 to 4.0.4 and ever since I have not been able to make calls or go on internet
Network - unknown
Service state - Out of service
Mobile network state - Disconnected
Next to my battery icon top right of my phone I do have 4 signal bars which change from time to time displaying 2 or 3 or 4
the MD5's I have tried using ODIN are
N7000XXLRI_N7000OXXLP8_N7000XXLRB_HOME.tar.md5
N7000XXLRG_N7000DBTLRG_N7000XXLRB_HOME.tar.md5
Vodafone have confirmed it is NOT blocked by IMEI
What can I do to determine if it is infact blocked by EMEI
Thanks
EFC
you can check your emei, in your phone, settings, about phone, then status. Is it the same as when you bought phone?
you can check your apn settings, are they as provider prescribes?
When reboot does your phone ask for sim pin?

No sim pin
How do I check emei and apn??, is it a classic sign of emei block when not registered on network??
nope if phone doesnt ask you to authenticate sim pin, then it wont register on network.
Fix is easy, try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25953317
Added how to check emei, dial *#06#, is another way. If its original, see behind battery then thats not issue.
Apn, I'll go into that after you tried Lance Uppercuts method and rebooted
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
I found the apn settings and enabled use packet data, data roaming, clicked on access point names and ha 1 listed which is 3 so i selected that
network mode is set to gsm\wcdma auto mode
network operators.........searching........for ages!! then i get
3
3
vodafone uk
02 - uk
t-mobile uk
clicking on either of the 3 networks says........unable to connect try again later
switch data roaming off, youbmight get extra costs. Apnbsettings should match your providers.
If lances method didnt work after reboot, see post above, delete apn, reboot, register on your mobile network, check apn with providers, or have provider resend it. Some times you can do this yourself from providers website

i have to be rooted to follow this, wat is quickest method i dont have a sd card installed
- Download "Terminal Emulator" app from market
- open it
- type into the command:
su
echo -n ON > /efs/imei/keystr
sync
Go to home, force close your terminal app, shut your screen off, and when your turn it back on your lock screen should be there.
Obviously you must be rooted the "su" command.
can someone pliz elaborate on typing su into the command
i have /$ when i type su it shows
/$su
The selected command does not exist
just download the one with busybox and try to install it from stock recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841288
use update zip option and save it on internal sd Should be pickable.
Remember your on unsafe kernel, dont wipe factory reset at all.
Getting into recovery is tricky: switch off phone, immediately
volume up, home button and power button at the same time keep pressed and after reboot its in recovery mode. Navigate with volume buttons and confirm selection with power button

But it still says...

The Selected command does not exist
I am simply typing the first line "su" straight after the "/$"
Is this correct?
Just to add more info
I put a Vodafone SIM into this phone and it got an E data connection but no calls
Whereas when I put my 3 SIM card in I get no data or calls
Does this give any clues????
press 'enter' on your Note's keyboard... Everytime you type something on the Terminal Emulator app, you have to press enter after.. (just like what you would normally do on Windows Command prompt (DOS) mode option.

I dont have an ENTER key on my note keyboard, I do have a DONE button which is what I am pressing
if pressing DONE accomplishes the same process of executing the command 'SU' then that's all good still.
So where you able to execute the other command after 'su'?

Can you please elaborate this line which mentioned ! .. its bit confusing to me

Thank you for this tutorial, just what I need. Step 1 is to see what your current MAC address is and write it down. However my MAC adress changes with every factory reset I make. How do I know for sure what my hardware MAC address is?

You don't need to know what is your "exact" mac address (it should be writed in factory....but they don't).
You can simply use one of the random ones generated from your phone(best way) or go to THIS SITE and get one..
Don't worry:there are BILLIONS of conbinations possible...

Hi Arcatarc,
I've the same problem, writing to nvram is ok, deleting folder is ok but still have random mac address whenever I on/off wifi.
Could you give offset in file where MAC is stored, I'll try to place correct address by hexedit.
Is it storred in wifi or wifi_custom?
Guys,
After two days I think, that I've found the solution - permanent
What is important:
- files: wifi & wifi_custom must have rights: r-- r-- r-- (see photo)
- owner & guid must be empty (see photo)
- need 2 apps: hex editor & es file explorer installed
- the most important thing is correct MAC ADDRESS, it must start with 000820XXXXXX use online generators like:
http://www.miniwebtool.com/mac-address-generator/
So, what we need to do:
1. Important - (Turn ON WIFI), delete files "WIFI" & "WIFI_custom" from folder "data/nvram/APCFG/APRDEB/" to have them recreated with correct owner & guid rights after restart.
2. Restart phone.
3. Turn off wifi.
4. Use hex editor to edit file or better mobileuncle tools (engineer mode ->(MTK)-> connectivity menu-> wifi ->nvram). Look at attached photos, You will need to insert own MAC address to file. You have two ways:
- by Mobileuncle under "Byte String Access" set
addr value "4"
length value 6
Press "Read", should show you some random generated mac address, delete it and place your new valid MAC Address & press "Write".
That should save your new mac, you can check if that was saved by pressing "Read", should show you your new mac address.
- by Hex editor (give it root rights in options) and open "WIFI" file, go to offset $4 and insert your new mac address & save file. (see photo)
5. We need to set correct rights on both files "WIFI" & "WIFI_custom". I've used "es files explorer" and set all only as Readable. Remember do this on both files. Don't change owner & guid rights, must be blank.
PS.
I've messing around quite long, so I hope that I wrote the steps in correct order. If that doesn't work, try to turn on wifi after saving new mac address, or restarting between some steps etc.
I've used mobileuncle but I know that some of you had problem, so I've wrote the hex editor way.

Try deleting "data/nvram" folder and reboot.
TL;DR I need an answer to one of the four questions at the bottom.
Preferably #1 or #3.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I have a Oneplus 3T running the latest Resurrectionremix (7.1.1) and TWRP recovery (3.0.4-1).
I use a pattern lock and device encryption, but I had separate passwords for the pattern and the encryption.
I tried to change my encryption password back to my pattern combo using 'vdc cryptfs changepw password' and entering numbers that correspond to the dots of the pattern. (E.g. in a 3x3, the dots are labeled 1-9)
Let's say the password I entered was '123456789'
I didn't realize that I needed to enter the HEX values in this command, (313233343536373839) so I just entered the ASCII values (123456789). The password I entered was all numbers so it corresponded to HEX values without giving an error.
Now, when I restart my phone, or boot into TWRP, I cannot enter the password I set. I cannot access adb or a terminal when booting android, and I cannot use 'vdc cryptfs' through TWRP. (I can use adb and terminal through TWRP)
The obvious solution is to convert the HEX values I entered to ASCII values and type them in, but I have two problems:
I use an odd number of dots for my pattern lock, and I entered an odd number of numbers for the HEX password. I don't know how that would break down into ASCII, because you need 2 HEX digits per ASCII character.
No matter how I convert the HEX to ASCII (either by prepending or appending a 0) there are characters that cannot be typed on a keyboard, and cannot be pasted into an adb shell.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I can think of a number of possible solutions to this problem:
How can I input my encryption password in hexadecimal rather than ASCII?
I think this would only be possible through TWRP/adb. It only needs to be temporary; I'll move my data out and format everything.
How can I backup the encrypted '/data' partition to my PC?
This way, I can freely format my phone while I try to decrypt the encrypted blob. Additionally, are there tools to help me decrypt the partition on a PC?
How can I use 'vdc cryptfs' in TWRP?
Right now, the problem is that it cannot find 'cryptd'. If I can get this to work, I can reset the password to something typeable.
How can I use 'vdc cryptfs' in Android without entering a password on boot?
As I said, my phone doesn't turn on adb before I enter the password, and I can't access Terminal or anything... or is there a way?
Or can I solve this any other way, without losing my data?
Hi all,
I have a problem. I made a mistake when changing my encryption password using "vdc cryptfs changepw" command. I tried to change the old password to PIN which apparently only successful in changing the modes of the password. My mistake is that I didn't test the new PIN first and directly reboot. Now, my phone is asking for PIN at decryption screen while the decryption password is still my old password (I checked it in TWRP, it successfully decrypt using my old password). Is there any way to change the keyboard at decryption screen to text mode?
I'm using Sultanxda's CM13
Thanks.
UPDATE:
Solutions I have tried:
1. Using TWRP to change the decryption password again. Doesn't work, it said cannot find cryptfs
2. Using adb to paste text in decryption PIN text field. Doesn't work, adb is not initialised in decryption screen
I accidentally made my secure boot pin letters instead of numbers. I can enter twrp by typing the corresponding letters to my intended numeric pin. However, on android boot a full keyboard is not present and I can only enter numbers. Therefore the pin fails every time! I already deleted lockscreen.bd and did a full wipe. Ideas?
Each number represents 3 letters. Use the corresponding numbers at secure boot to match your alphabetical pin.
