Hello programmers, love this forum since i know it 3 years ago...
the BIG question i have is;
i switched a broken s3mini screen to a new one.
everything working fine till i slide the brightness tab down.
every click it slides down, the screen turns into a color, as if absence of color calibration, or intense of certain colors making the only brightness option i can choose to see accurate colors is on max.
i updated the firmware to latest, still no results. its an original never rooted 8190.
thanks in advance and great work!
Is your new screen a Samsung genuine? Or is it 3rd party? It could be incompatibility. If you never changed the firmware and it was working before the new screen, but not now, it's probably the new screen.
Good luck!

Hey guys quick question
Me and my girlfriend both have the SGS but I noticed today that he screen has a weird yellow colour when compared to mine.
Like my blacks are black, where hers just seem off from mine even at low, medium and full brightness, power saving lcd thing off on both.
We are both running JPU.
Is her screen dying or is it faulty? if so should i contact samsung for a replacement model?
Thanks
Hi
I have an issue where my screen is much darker than those of friends of mine, both with brightness set to full on all phones or with auto brightness on. I didn't notice it at first but now that I did it bugs me like hell. Maybe its related.
Depending on country and service center it shouldn't be too much of an issue to get a replacement screen / device. It goes without saying you have to roll back from JPU to the original froyo for device.

Running any custom kernel with colour fixes etc? I think some roms/kernels tweaked the settings
I think its possibly some variance in the manufacturing process. Mine has a blueish tint which i find quite annoying, but only appears when looking at it from the left hand side
Thanks for the responses guys, we are both running stock JPU roms but ive contacted samsung and they said they will have a look at it :/
Hi fellas,
We know our SGS is old but it still is very much capable. One thing with this device that can't be worked out is the amoled burn-in. I had my SGS's screen replaced twice due to burn-in, and some of you might think that "you've had your brightness settings too high for a long time" etc. The thing is, I've been using lowest brightness setting since I had the second replacement and for over a year burn-in still take effect. I know SAMOLED is superior in terms of overall display experience but the way I use my phone isn't the same as I use it when I first had it (meaning I'm used to looking at my screen and I don't bother the contrast/deep blacks anymore as I used to). I wanted to have a peace of mind using the device for long (4) hours browsing the web or playing a game or using an app without constantly timing in my mind that the status bar or clock is now a little more burned than yesterday, something like "at this duration use, you're blue subpixel is 0.00001% weaker". Those who suffer the agony of watching a burn-in on their displays understand this. So I was thinking of replacing my screen again with the SLCD from i9003 and I wonder if someone already tried it out or if it is possible?

Now let me just say i love this phone.. but thought i cant have this.. so i fill out support form for htc and they reply quick advising me it should not do this and to get it changed. i contact three go through the whole call centre thing (like pulling teeth) anyways the upshot was.. three sent me another brand new phone the next day (yesterday) and took back my first one. And guess what? as soon as i switch the phone on, same screen flicker? i treated the first phone like a new born baby didnt drop or bash it 4 days=screen flicker. another new phone as soon as i use it = screen flicker!! i so love this phone but im so gutted!! any suggestions from ANYONE would help.
kind regards

This isn't helpful but you must just be unlucky to have had it happen twice because mine's been perfect and I've not seen anyone else on this forum mention that problem with theirs.
I guess you'll have to get a new one sent out again and hope for the best
Could you make a short video clip to illustrate your problem ?

hi.. to be honest i dont think a video would pick the problem up? you know i could just be being a kill joy? ive watched videos etc and there really isnt a problem with that at all.. in fact the quality of the picture is fab? if i could use an analogy? remember when the volume control on your stereo would get dust in it? and you would have to twiddle the knob to cure it? its a bit like that? like i say it does not do it all the time but i notice it with white in the screen? like facebook google and when i am navigating thru the screens on the phone like settings etc? the white flickers white/slightly darker white? hence my example? now ive changed my text messages colour scheme so that doesnt annoy me now with it.. but obviously as a electronics layman.. i cant help but think if it was a problem with the screen itself, other colours would do the same as they would if there was a loose connestion? and also if it was a power flow problem with the battery? same thing? not just the white on screen? so i can only conclude as a layman again.. that it is some sort of issue with the os? screen refresh rate maybe? i just dont know? and i cant help think stupidly or not that when htc finally get around to an os update to 4.2.2 (or whatever it is) from 4.1.2 the whole thing will be resolved?
Could it be the auto brightness doing its thing? Try turning it off maybe that might solve it.
I might be totally wrong, be great if that fixed it though. Good luck
well well well!!!! Was this happening when the stock power widget brightness was set to medium?
If so, I have the same flickering ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2243483 ), but I've found out that its not the power widgets fault per se, but the the the level that it sets it to. The widget set the brightness to 33%, and that the level which I'm getting flickering at, regardless of if it was set with the power widget or by the slider. The flickering happens on screen with a good amount of white. Google search result webpage is a good test case; it shows the flickering clearly at 33%. It also seems to depend on where the white is on the screen. For example, I can induce flickering at 40% brightness by moving a light colored icon from the bottom of the screen to the top! Moving it back to the bottom causes the flickering to go away. I can also do it by moving around or resizing the Gmail widget. Flickering happens for me to some extent at brightness values between 33 and 45 under certain screen conditions. Above or below these brightness values, the screen is top notch, no endless flickering at all regardless of how much white is on screen. I'm starting to think this has to do with the dynamic contrast feature of the One. It seems as though it falls in an endless loop of trying to change the contrast, as if it cant decide on what to set the contrast to. Or it could be that the dynamic contrast is fighting for a certain brightness value, but the manually set brightness is not allowing it. I might be wrong about this, and it could just be a hardware backlight problem, regardless, I wish HTC had the Sense (ha ha!) to allow us to disable dynamic contrast if we wanted to. I'm pretty sure this is whats causing the issue where people see flickering when the keyboard pops up.
screen issue?
hi..
i had the widget set on the third setting, the fourth being the brightest. i had the same problem with my first phone and thought at the time it may have been a backlight problem? or power flow problem? i sent that phone back and the next phone did the same? after posting on here.. i removed the widget and manually adjusted the brightness. i like the screen quite bright, manual adjustment cleared the problem for me. i gotta say yep the flicker was more visible on screens with alot of white, google, facebook, texts? and way way annoying! i can only suggest you try the same as i did? perhaps it is just a quirk with the htc? or maybe the os? you never know, when the update to keylime or whatever it is called comes out the flicker may go totally?
JUST had this on facebook? hope it helps?

hi dear
i have the same problem,in the manual brightness situation, i have screen flickering in white background,do you think, htc will solve this problem with OTA update or not...
thanks
So. Recently got my second transformer. After a few hours use it switched off and refused to turn on at full brightness - in the dark i could just just see icons on the homescreen. After a while it seemed to tun on again. Crazy. So i updated to and used latest 4.4.2 stock for a day, the screen was working perfectly at all brightness levels, uniform, no light bleed. Then i flashed a few of the available CM based roms. This morning, a few days in, i notice that the backlight is much much stronger on the right.
At low brightness it was completely ridiculous. Its like one of the rows of leds wasnt on at all. So i reflashed a backup i had from install day and now everything is just fine - uniform brightness, working perfectly. It seems to be a driver bug. But how did it survive me going from kernel to kernel?
So now im wondering if its a hardware issue... any thoughts?
Ive now noticed this happening on a number of occasions to different rows of the backlight - sometimes at bootom, sometimes at bottom and right. Anyone else seeing something like this?
Sounds like hardware to me...

I flashed the latest cm and this seems to have stopped happening so looks like driver issues. However, the screen continues turn off sometimes, and when it does it needs two presses of the power button to turn back on. Its a crazy thing asus - i had the last infinity too, sold it after a few months because it just wasnt as good as my nexus 10. And now this... pretty amusing.
Dunno why i keep buying asus. Must be my good experience with their motherboards or something... usually they also have excellent support and firmware updates.
Hi everyone
I recently bought a used Huawei P9 Plus at a bargain. At first, I didn't find anything wrong with the device. But as soon as brought it home and started using it, I found that the Google search bar and the home screen icons appear on the back of the screen when I open any app. I searched the internet for a while and found that all amoled displays were prone to this condition called "screen burn-in" and maybe I was also experiencing the same problem. So my query is can any of you suggest a working solution to this. At least can I bring the screen back to normal even a little bit? Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank you
Unfortunately no, it cant be fixed. It`s a hardware issue. I have burn in on my p9 plus (status bar and nav bar are completely white, with everything between being yellow-ish). If I crank up the brightness its not noticeable, but on the other hand, its really noticeable in dim environments (at night when the brightness is set to 0)
Please how did you get the burn in? I'm getting a new one soon. I want to avoid that.
had my since release, no burn-in!

Mine was already burnt when I got it. Just make sure to use different themes and lower brightness.
I always have screen on 25%
and change screen look once a week.
