I did a search and was unable to find information on flashing stock Gingerbread 2.3.4 for the Verizon Galaxy Tab 7 (SCH-I800). Is this possible, and with root?
I would love to get a more stable build onto this machine. It crashes alot. also something more responsive would be great too Now that its out for the Sprint Vs. Does that mean its possible to get it on ours?
There hasn't been an official release of Gingerbread for the Samsung Galaxy Tab SCI-I800 (Verizon model). I'm getting very, very impatient and annoyed by it too, especially not that the Sprint model (VERY similar to ours) has already gotten that upgrade and we're still waiting without any details about when to expect it to come to us. VERY annoyed.
Flash the Sprint version that's rooted on here.
Hell, how can one root first?
I have tried NUMEROUS methods at rooting my Galaxy Tab, just to try and get the bloatware off of my device in hopes at making it work smoother, but that didn't work. Anyone, ANYONE, know a fool proof method at rooting the VZW Galaxy Tab 7? z4root, gingerbreak, etc, all didn't work. Ended up having to reset my device just to correct most major issues that the failed root attempts created.

Just rerooted mine (my original z4root stopped working after the last update) and after combing through who knows how many posts and methods, I got it to work with version 1.7 of superoneclick. For some reason 1.9 would get stuck in the middle, but 1.7 had no problem. Good luck.
Can we really just flash the Sprint version? That won't break anything?
Thanks!
It will not connect to 3G but it works fine on wifi. I have been running it for 3 weeks.
Awesome... I don't use 3G anyhow. Thanks a bunch!
I got my tab finally rooted. Now need to have fun!

There's also a leaked VZW stock rooted 2.3.4 in the dev section...
That stock vzw rom... Is it stable?
Sent from my rooted SCH-I800 Galaxy Tab
Why would a stock rom not be stable? Besides the thread is several pages long with folks posting their experiences, me included.
It is very stable, with all the bloat and everything. Suggest BTL Confidence & Paranoia v01 if you dont want any of the bloat. Stable with some minor bugs.
yes the BTL confidence and paranoia is a great rom, I have the sch-i800 verizon model too.
looks like i missed the boat on that one.

Use SuperOneClick.
Make sure you have USB debugging on.
Super no click for GB
Unfortunatly I have tried super 1 click 2.3.3 (with debug on and sd card out) and it dosen't work on the I800 2.3.5
I am going to try cubed 3.
all this just so i can use a six axis controller....

Should be safe. All warnings are related to custom/leaked ICS kernels, not the official.
In short, Keep it stock and you will be fine.
P.S. Thats the normal method of flashing stock roms anyhow.
Good Luck
I just followed this guide to the letter and it worked fine. I have a Uk O2 Note 16Gb.
Little update. After 6 hours of using this I havent had any issues that I have notices. Camera works, S Note installed, powered off and on a few times to be sure, lock screen working fine and new functions of ICS seem fine.
would this work with i717r from rogers in canada. i tried the att rom but my keyboard was like super duper slow. and i had to wait for the keyboard to catch up to me.
Dont know if it would work on your note or not. After a day mine so far is 100% ok. Did you do the wipe after instal? I noticed in the instructions it suggests it will run slow until you do that. I done it straight away so dont know how slow it would run without doing it.

Do not try to flash it on I717, you'll end up with a hard-brick.
I've been searching and reading for the last 3 days for a stock USA ROM for my wife's Tab 8.9.
Her current ROM is showing performance issues, wifi suffering, apps randomly uninstall and I'd like to get her back to stock.
Can anyone guide/point me in the right direction.
Edit: I should add it is the GT-P7310 currently running [4.3][P7310] Android-HD (CM10.2 BASED)

the question is why do you need the ROM to be precisely USA???, cuz I didn't find any ether [and I don't think you'll ever find]
if being from USA means to you that it is the only ROM that you can put the system language as USA, so you're wrong.
the only difference between ROMs origins is for updating from the update center in the system
and since you are willing to update from Odin, then there is no difference between the ROMs' origins
and if you are interested in manual changing, you can flash any ROM and make it USA by editing the build prop
aaaand if you are inrerested, I removed all the origin depending data from MY ROM, so it is clean and the default language in it is US
Woooow, that's a lot of talking,,,,
I hope this can help:angel:

I realize it shouldn't be an issue, but every other ROM I have dl'ed and attempted to load will hang on either the boot screen or the initial setup screen.
My true need is a solid stock either bloated or not that I can stuff over on to it via ODIN.

Ok, I understood from your reply that you're searching now for an Odin official framework for your GT-P7310
if this is it then GO HERE [this is a link for the latest official update for GT-P7310], download it and unzip it then flash it through Odin and your good to go

Worked! Wife's tab is back up and running!
I received AT&T OTA update for 4.4.2 and after that I see that my phone is really slow. anyone else experiencing the same issues ?
Also, if I instal the custom ROM, I will lose all the S-Pen features ? Is there any ROM that offers any S-Pen features ?

I heard about people having issues after the OTA. Unfortunately if you took the OTA, you cannot root therefore you cannot install a custom ROM which is too bad. I am running Dynamic Kat and Dynamic Kat Xtreme which are extremely fast with minimal if any issues.

Not in the case of the Note 3 and the latest KitKat update from AT&T. You needed to be rooted on 4.3 and update to Kitkat via a custom ROM. Right now you and everyone else who took the OTA update are stuck. Sorry man. Read around the forums. You will see the sad truth.

Not if you have the At&t Note 3. (Locked Bootloader)
Your out of luck until Kingo comes out with a Root solution or someone else
Still you cant run a custom ROM that needs a kernal.
You can only install TouchWiz roms. FOREVER no exceptions until bootloader is unlocked which will never happen EVER.
Yes S Pen work with our custom ROMs. (TouchWiz) we cant install CM on these phones period.
So here is your situation. You have installed the wonderful Stock 4.4.2 from At&t and are stuck.
I would factory reset it (Stock Recovery) and see if that helps.
Thats it.

Oh no..this is really strange and very surprising to me that there is no way to install custom ROM on AT&T note 3 with OTA 4.4.2 update.
So, in the update they have locked the bootloader completely which cannot be unlocked ? Because in normal rooting process, we usually unlock the booatloader first, it can't be done in this case ?
Is this restriction added from AT&T or Samsung ?

When this Phone first came out the bootloader was locked (By At&t)
This new update didn't do that. You just can't root your phone on the OTA 4.4.2 right now.
Once you get it rooted, you can install SafeStrap 3.72 and flash a custom rom.

You can still root this phone. You just have to wait for someone to figure it out like Kingo.

I installed a custom KITKAT rom and enjoying my phone a lot. Just have to stay involved in these forms and read read read. You will be fine. Check Kingo android root online to see if the released a new version that will root it for you. Locked bootloader means no custom kernels, there for AOSP, CM and others won't work. Only Touch wiz.

Is there any way to make the performance of note 3 faster and less sluggish (OTHER THAN FACTORY RESET) ?
I have tried doing a factory reset but still note 3 performance is not good even tho this is a great specs phone.
Turn off all of the boatware in the settings menu. That should help some. Also, go into developer options and change the animation scales to .5 or off. That won't really make your phone faster, but it will seem faster. There's a thread in the general section about making your phone super fast.

1) What does this animation option does ?
2) How to disable the boatware ? How to disable app as I do not see disable button in app settings for any app ? can you please give me a test example please ?
The changing the animation times will make the animations between switching windows faster or slower. Changing them to .5 will make them faster and off will make them nonexistent so there will be no animations between windows. When the animations are faster/off it will make the phone seem faster. Not sure if my explanation is clear enough, but if you try it you'll see what I mean.
To turn stuff off, go to the settings menu, application manager, and pick an application. For example, let's say you pick HP Print Plugin. Near the top right of the screen you will see a button that says "turn off". Push this and the application will be disabled. Some of them you cannot turn off. Be careful which ones you turn off because it can cause problems if you disable the wrong thing.

I've been running a towelrooted NC2 note 3 for what seems like forever now. I'm currently seeing that OC2 has a stagefright patch and seems like a solid reason to finally update.
What would be your arguments for or against upgrading to OC2?
Right now my phone runs great and I've got it working to where I'm getting fantastic battery life. (GPS working, No wifi issues over AC, etc.)
1. Is safestrapping to OC2 standard procedure to keep root?
2. I've heard there are issues with Xposed? Can anyone confirm or offer some information regarding this?
The only root apps I use anymore are:
Titanium Backup Pro
Amplify
AdAway
YouTube AdAway
BootManager
Complete Action Plus
Xposed Additions
Xprivacy
I believe all but Titanium Backup Pro are based on Xposed Framework, so this is obviously a concern.
Your opinions are appreciated.
If you're looking to upgrade, might as well upgrade to a s6 (5.0.2) port in the dev section.
I have used all of the same apps/modules, minus xPrivacy, in the past on LP/KK. You can certainly install xposed on 5.0+, but there are several issues that arise with it. Mainly, the xposed framework itself requires a few workarounds/compromises with Samsung's ART, which impact performance/endurance.
With the s6 port, you get a basic privacy/permission app (think built-in App Ops), full theme support, ART, etc.. I've had no need for Amplify/Greenify/etc. since updating.
All in all, LP is quite a bit faster than KK, way more secure, & far more functional of a ROM, imo. Make a backup in TWRP, flash LP, and see which you like. :good:
EDIT: You'll be giving up xposed (most likely) by moving to LP. Which may be a good thing, in the long run.
Thanks for the input. I will give your s6 ROM a shot and see how I like it. I've read about, but not in detail, that xposed caused some security issues of its own before. I still wonder just how severe a threat those are in relation to others.
Are there debloat scripts available or needed for the s6 ROMs? I've always done them one by one myself, but I'd like to see if they might save me a lot of time.
(Arguments about hurting website revenue aside) is there a non xposed based ad blocking for 5.02? Personally, I just can't stand ads on my mobile device at all. I've never heard a lot about malicious ad code hitting android users much, but better safe than sorry.
What about firewall capabilities in 5?
Still it's too bad their isn't a ROM that would be a distribution focused on reliability and security.

Same boat, rooted stock nc2 with xposed and moto tether working just fine. Everything works, screen mirror, occasional GPS hiccup but not sure it's because of the magnetic mount. After two days and reading 100+ pages, I decided to stay on NC2. Too many FCs and fixes and patches.
Did you update? Is it stable? Does everything work? Tether, screen mirror, GPS?

I've gone back to OC2, numerous times...and go right back to NC2. Hiccups, lag, straight up freezing...and just an overall terrible experience versus JellyBean or KitKat. App history management is subpar, uses way too much memory...too much white which leads to more battery drain. OC2 is a fail, in my book. Just my two cents.

Thanks for the feedback. Been switching between the S5 on 5.1 and the Note 3 on 4.4.2. S5 is surprising smooth on 5.1. Great battery life most of the time. Note 3 is stable except for the latest Google maps update which crashes occasionally.

As far as I understand OC2 ruins the ability to root or anything.. I upgraded to OC2 not knowing i can't do anything now.. can't root or anything all root ODIN's fail...
