Help me decide!!! LG g2 or Moto X

I need inputs from the moto x people here if y'all have any regrets or would u get a g2 instead of the moto x

Moto X of course. But, what did you expect when posting a question like this in the Moto X forum? I had the LG G2 and heavily favor the Moto X. Still think it's an awesome phone after a few months.

This. G2 has better display, better battery life and MUCH better camera. Moto x has better software, better performance, more useful features, better speaker. If it wasnt for the lag i would say the G2 is better but because of it i say moto x.

Both phones are amazing in their own personal way...
I had the LG g2 after the moto x, then came back to the Moto x....
I missed the breathing notifications, and all of the personalization that comes with the moto x.
Fwiw, the LG g2 is a phone that you must root and put a custom rom onto in order to enjoy it ; at least for me.
The moto x is awesome out of the box!

I think it is a personal preference, they are both really good phones.
I have both and for me the G2 is the better phone. The moto is too small, the screen isn't as good, and is a touch slower and the camera is a step behind. Further, I tend to keep my phones for 2 years or longer and I feel like the G2 will be the better phone in the long haul. I know that some people complain about the UI but after a few weeks of using, rooting, and tweaking it I have it just the way I want it, lean but still useful feature rich. I loaded CM on it for 3 days and went back to my version of stock. It was just missing too much.
The moto is a great phone, the updates have been impressive, the features rock and my wife loves it. It is the good size for her and she doesn't care about screen resolution (or kit kat) in the slightest. She had a razr maxx and it was too big for her. She is much happier now with her pink and black moto x

If you post this question on the "Moto X" area = Moto X winner
If you post this question on the "LG G2" area = G2 winner
G2 has better specs, better screen... but it's big, and clumsy, and made by LG which we all know, really don't care for updates... in the end, it's up to you...

I tried the G2 before the X (coming from a S4) and for me the screen was the deal breaker. I didn't like the G2 screen. I'm just a sucker for SAMOLED I guess but the low contrast and saturation of the G2 (both stock and CM10.2) drove me nuts constantly.
G2 wins on camera, battery life and audio quality over both the X and S4. The G2 processor absolutely smokes but I've been pleasantly surprised by the X in that regard as well. I'm not a gamer so this is just working with regular apps but it feels faster than the S4 and not too far off the G2.

[Q] Upgrading from Moto G

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a Moto G 16gb for 199 euros and one of my classmates is ready to buy it from me for the same price.
I am seriously considering selling it to him and buy myself a new phone but i am confused
Should i stick to Moto G or sell it to him and buy one of these Moto X or Nexus 5 (16gb) or HTC One mini or Sony Xperia Z (the four devices come around 349 euros, i will be paying 150 more from my pocket)..
I have not included Samsung in the list (never like it) and i havent used Sony or HTC before. I live in Germany and LTE is not an absolute must, however good battery is a must though.
Suggestions please!!

Moto g and Moto x are far far away. If you can buy a moto x for 150 more do it.

The Moto X is the best choice from that list if you factor in battery life. If battery life isn't important, than maybe Nexus 5 is better.
Nexus 5 have wireless charging, better camera, 1080p screen, and more developers for custom roms.
Moto X have better battery life, unique features like Touchless Control and Active Display, smaller size and better form factor, great sounding speaker and good voice quality.
If you want a very fast phone, root and flash custom roms a lot, get a Nexus 5. If you want a good experience right out of the box with good battery life, get Moto X.

Have both, MG and MX. The X feels far more better in the hand, although the MG is really good.

[Q] Opinions...Moto X 2013 vs Moto G 2014?

I'm looking for a replacement Android phone. I'm off contract, so I'm buying it outright.
I've basically narrowed my selection down to the Moto G 2014 or the Moto X 2013. They're available for very close to the same price where I live. (Canada).
My wife and I share the phone. She's not a power user, and I work from home in front of a computer all day. A decent camera is a priority--how does the 10MP on the X (but with clearpixel) compare with the 8MP on the G?
I like the idea of the always-listening voice commands on the Moto X, as well as the wrist-flip to wake the camera and the low-power notifications, but it looks like the new G has better battery life and possibly a nicer screen.
Anyone know whether Lollipop on the 2013 Moto X will allow for customizable phrases? I don't really want to be saying "OK Google Now" to wake it up all the time...

To summarise:
The camera, screen and storage options are better on the G.
The multitasking, battery life, and features (Touchless control / active notifications) are better on the X.
Which to buy depends on what you need from your device. If camera is important go for the G, if your a power user go for the X.

How is the screen on the Moto G (2014) better than the one on the original X? the original X has a sharper display but most important it is a FULL RBG OLED panel. The OG X has LTE, the only reason I would get the new Moto G is because you need micro SD support on your phone, otherwise the original X is better, more RAM, a better SoC, better camera, more compact and overall more premium, besides the micro SD slot, the only thing that I can think of better about the new G is the stereo speakers and maybe better software support in the future.

I'd pick the X any day because of Moto Voice,Moto Display and 2GB of ram. Screen is debatable. G screen is bigger but it is not as sharp and then there's the whole matter of whether you prefer bright whites of LCD or deep blacks of AMOLED. The size of the X is better IMO. Also X has 2GB of ram; you will see that recent apps there is little to no reloading where as on the G with 1GB, there is more reloading going on when you jump from app to app and back. This is a big deal for me, 2GB ram offers a much better seemless experience than 1GB.

I own the moto x(2013) moto g(2013) moto e and my wife and best friend have the moto g(2014) and let Me tell u. They all jealous of the moto x. It beats the G in every way. Last night I did a side by side camera comparison n the x look better. The x is also faster n if benchmark means anything to u the x bench 8k more than the G. Only downside Is that the G already had 5.0 update while im still waiting.

The camera on the X is not better than the G 2014 , the photos are barely usable compared to the G which have better colouring, less graininess in low light and better flash photography.

Get the X. It's built with better materials, has 2GB of RAM, is more compact and has a highger quality display. Moto G 2014 is nice, but it just has MicroSD slot going for it. Camera on both phones are not good.

I don't know about Lollipop but on my stock 2013 Moto X (XT 1053) running KItKat, I have trained it to respond to "OK Moto".

Hardly usable is a huge exaggeration. Unless all you do is take pictures in dark places, the Moto X is decent shooter. Sure the colour is off but with lollipop coming , apps that can take advantage of the new camera api will solve this problem.

I just got the Moto G 4G 2015 XT1072 for my wife and I have the Moto X 2013, so now the 4G is out of the question... and I have to agree, Moto G camera is better than the X, low light and close up photos, G beats the X quite easily, so if camera is important, G is the way to go, if multimedia is important, G is the way to go (bigger screen and front facing speakers), active display, just install CM12 has it and you can wake up the phone just by waving your hand (CM12 feature), just like the MOTO X 2014, the only thing that I notice is that the G is not that great, is at multitasking, if a heavy web page is opened (XDA for example, now has loads of advertisement :-[ ) and try to multitask, you will see the limitations of the 1gb RAM.

moto g is newer fresher phone, camera is better, but battery life is better on moto x

Moto X user here. The camera is pathetic, and I mean it. Other than that, I love the phone. 2 gigs of RAM and the processing power is amazing. I'm fed up with the fact that it is still yet to receive Lollipop, other than that really satisfied. If you can forgive the camera, Moto X is a good choice.

You guys know alot about phones...would it be a good deal to trade a moto x 2014 for a lg g3? thanks

NO. I left a G3 for the 2014 moto X and am much happier. Same battery life (not capacity) and a much more fluid experience. The LG G3 lagged a lot and got hot really fast. It also could not handle games as simple as sonic dash without dropping frames. STAY AWAY!

I second this. Came from the G3 to the moto x. The only two things I miss are the camera and the standyby battery life

My daughter has the G3. I have the vrz moto x coming from the note 3. Root or no root I love the moto x. G3 is nice but from a user experience the moto x rocks

Only if you're the one who will walk away with the Moto X...

Had G3 myself, terrible lag and software. Went to note 4, but can't take the lock bootloader and lack of root.

Tough choice.
Software: Moto
Hardware: G3 (expandable memory, removable battery, QHD screen, camera)
I had the G3 and didn't plague from the problems people are yapping about. I love the almost bezel-less display. Dim the brightness on the moto x and looks atrocious. Super turn off. Hands down the G3 has a better display and bigger display in a surprisingly small package compared to the other OEM's in its size.
What sold me on the moto x was the personalized experience. I wish apple would adopt the same concept with the custom paint job and finish.
The moto is aesthetically pleasing.
Its a toss up really. You wouldn't be unhappy thats for sure.

I had a G3 (well 3 different G3's F400, D850 and the F460) from launch last year until 3 weeks ago when I sold my last one. I've been using Mt Nexus 6 for a while and bought my wife the Moto X. I loved the G3 because of its excellent camera and compact size yet large screen. The G3 is a great phone, I didn't have any heating issues on mine but I didn't like the LG ui. I realized that I prefer stock android over other ui's. The back buttons are a nice touch and so is the removable battery/SD slot.
Since using the Moto X I was pleasantly surprised sigh how well it preformed. It's much faster stock than any of my G3's were. Updates are hit and miss on the LG. My korean ones would get updates fast but my ATT one was left in the dark the whole time I had it. The Moto voice and display are a big plus in the X's favor. Overall it's just preference but if I had to choose between them I would buy the Moto

I have the Nexus 6. I am finding it too big. I would like to go back to the Moto X 2014. I had it before and liked the size. But now with the Moto G 3rd Gen out, should I go for that one? I know its .2 inch smaller which is not a big deal. Plus the Moto G has dual speakers for stereo sound and of course a SD slot. Also now that the Moto G camera is also 13 meg is it as good as the X or perhaps better? The Moto X 2014 is about $150 more which is why I am wondering what to get.

Supposedly the camera is the same from the nexus 6 without OIS. I faced your same decision and will be ordering my moto x today. I decided to go with the X again (just cracked the screen last week, still usable though). I thought about the nexus 6 since its on sale but its just too big. So back to the moto x or moto G 3rd gen. The main appeal of the moto g for me was water resistance and cheap price, SD slot was nice but if I got a 32GB X it wouldn't matter. So I am going for the moto x because its just been so rock solid. It feels great in the hand and I appreciate the premium feel. The 5.1.0 update has removed any little lag it had on the first 5.0 so performance is great.
My only issue with the moto x was that I had a 16GB ATT version, I also would have liked it to have a white back. Now I get to have it in a white back and 32GB for only $350. Im sold. I thought about waiting for the new moto x 2015 but I want to try it in the hand first, I can see myself easily going another year on a moto x. If the screen never cracked I would not have been looking for a new phone, the motorola software is something I use daily.

Between the two, I would pick the Moto G. Just get the 16 gig with 2 gig ram and you basically have the same phone for less money. Plus you can customize it on Moto maker now and you get a sd card slot.

Nope, the third gen G doesn't have stereo speakers. And I hope you do realize you'll be dealing with a mid-range device, performance compared to the N6 and X14 cannot be compared.

The G has a newer camera (IMX214 vs 135 in the X), a brighter aperture (f2.0 vs 2.25), color balancing flash, and a microSD, so definitely get the G if you care about the camera. It's also waterproof and has better battery life than the mediocre battery in the X. Avoid it if you want the nicer build, display or faster processor. The G will also likely get Android M first, as last year's G got 5.0 long before the X OG, though to be fair the OG X was underpowered.

I recently bought a Moto X 2014 despite knowing of the new one coming up.
I love amoled displays, and especially for ambient features of the moto x. Mono speaker is a bit disappointing, but it sounds good for only having one. I've used the Nexus 6 and loved it, but it could be a bit cumbersome at times. Most recently I used a SGS6, but grew tired of how limited it was in terms of ROMs among other things.
The Moto X 2014 is about $299 (16GB) USD as of now new, so you'd be saving $100 as well. Everyone has their own tastes, but Amoled (and smaller) display + the current price makes it a steal to me. I've also fallen in love with the Moto software as of late.
