Bluetooth audio quality different depending on mp3 player app used? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have my z1 setup in my car to play music via bluetooth into the car stereo.
With the sony walkman app, the stereo correctly shows the artist/song information and sounds pretty good.
However, if i use power player, the bluetooth sound quality seems noticeably worse and the stereo doesn't show the song information.
Has anyone else noticed this?
The reason i want to use powerplayer is because the walkman app, annoyingly doesn't' read the 'album artist' tags in songs, so it catalogues the music in a bizarre way if it is all correctly tagged.
Power player reads it properly and sorts via album artist.
I have all EQ + sounds effects turned off in both players and phone menu.
I'm using stock 4.4.4

Is there a way to prevent music from pausing during navigation?

I was surprised that rather than attenuating music playback the One pauses music when Waze or Google Navy is announcing an upcoming turn.

Not sure on that one, it might be app specific. For instance, last time I was listening to Pandora and navigating, the phone simply turned down the volume on the music while the navigator was talking. In the HTC Music app, it muted the music but it kept playing(annoying, since I was listening to an audio book...) and in Google Play Music, it would pause it.
unremarked is correct. I use PowerAmp and theres an option to pause the music or play the notification along with the music and thats what i use. I prefer the way iOS handles it though. The music goes lower while the notification sound plays. But i haven't found a way to make it work that way.

So this morning I got into the car and continued to stream music to my device via Google Music. I needed to make an unplanned detour so I fired up Waze to calculate a quick route avoiding traffic. Much to my delight the music I was streaming attenuated when Waze spoke, just like it used to do on my iPhone. I was so jazzed and my kids were probably wondering why. So at the next light I switched to the HTC player and no dice. Same behavior as before, muting/pausing music whenever Waze spoke directions. Finally I decided to try Pandora (which I haven't been able to stream to my car in the week I've had the One) and not only did Pandora play through the car speakers, it too attenuated when Waze spoke. I haven't tried this with Google Nav.
So what's changed since yesterday? Well I booted into Safe Mode (per HTC rep's suggestion) to troubleshoot a bluetooth volume issue and that didn't do anything other than remove some of my folders on one of my home panels. That bluetooth volume issue is a separate issue and it was not resolved through Safe Booting the device. Also, it appears there was an update to Google Music so that may have resolved the music pausing issue. Either way, I'm not sure what I did or what happened to the device to fix this behavior but I'm very happy to experience this expected behavior between music (except for the HTC native player) and nav.

music plays when I insert headphones

I haven't found a ROM in years that allows me to plug in headphones without triggering the music player. I'm currently running Nitrogen 7.1. Is there some way to disable this?
Check the settings of the music player app you're using. I just connected headphones to my device running Pure Nexus and did not encounter this issue. Pure Nexus however does not have an included music player; I use Google Music for both onboard music as well as streaming my collection.

Skipping music tracks

My only Note 8 complaint so far is that I can't skip music tracks with either the wired headset controls, or the phone volume controls. I have to turn the screen on every time.
I'm using BlackPlayer EX as my music player, but I've tried Phonograph and Shuttle as well.
There are a few old threads and old apps offering various fixes, but none seem to work on my new phone. Any suggestions?

Possible audio equalisation problems

I've played with a couple of music playing problems (rocket player and GoneMAD Music Player) and I've noticed a problem. Hopefully a few of you can try this out (either with one of those two apps or whatever is more convenient for you) and see if the problem is with my phone or it's a problem with the equalization system. Play any track, and confirm you can pause and unpause the track without problem. Then turn on, in either app, the equalization and specifically play around with the graphic equalizer (rocket player) or bass boost option (gone mad) and see if, when you pause and unpause, you get random changes in volume, including no audio at all. With gone mad the bass boost operates separately from the equalizer.

I have this problem! Whenever I use an app that uses its own equalizer or a third party equalizer and play music I get a max volume spike at the beginning of playback. Have you found any solutions?

What Music Player do you guys use?

I mainly have been using Google Play Music cause of the cool Media Controller that is colored by the album and liked it but others have been using others such as PowerAMP or Samsung Music, etc and wanted to see what you all recommend for music playing and also Samsung Sound Effects such as Surround/Dolby Atmos, Concert Hall, Audio Preset, etc.
Current Config
Player: Google Play Music (cause Album colored Media Controller)
Sound Effects:
Surround/Dolby Atmos: Off
UHQ Upscaler: On (Bit and Bandwidth Upscale)
Concert Hall: On
Preset: Normal
Adapt Sound: Custom
Spotify.
Dolby atmos on.
Custom sound on. Depending where I play. I got profiles to use on my car ICE, wired headphones and BT headphones.
I find dolby atmos improve spotify by far.. Before it spotify sound quality sucks

I've been going back and forth between PowerAmp and N7.
So far trying PowerAmp and sounds the same until I switch to this preset.
EQ: Speakers (Loud)
Reverb: Off
Resampler: SoX 99.0%
Output: Hi-Res, Sample 384kHz from 48kHz
Buffer: Normal
DVC: ON
MusicFX: OFF
Any PowerAmp users want to share their profiles or suggest changes to mine?
I just use the stock Samsung Music Player that comes bundled with the Samsung OS. It is pretty good and plays whatever I want. Seeing as I keep all my music stored locally on my microSDcard.
