hi guys so im stripping down the firmware for my note, going to use it for pure gaming now, and im trying to get rid of the signal bar at the top, iv tried using apktool, with no luck, got it decompiled and edted the pic's(resized and set the transparency) needed saved, but failed to recompile, so i replaced the RES Folder with the edited one, via winrar, that still does not work,
if i provide the framework and system ui please can someone do it for me and then tell me how you have done it? its pa 4.4.2
also trying to edit the ouya launcher, so i can use that also, i got it to start and work, just by installing the apk, but the resolution is all wrong, i have no clue where to even start with that, so all help is needed please, just trying to convert it to a gaming device,

I think your best bet would be to simply change your ROM. PA has many great features, but it lacks in customizability. I know CarbonROM (I'm using it) has an option to remove the signal icon in the status bar.
Settings -> Carbon Fibers -> Statusbar ->Signal status style -> Hidden

Hi i would like some help which would be nice from any Theme Creator or Dev because they will probably know where to look.
So can anyone tell me which files need to be changed to make the volume & brightness bars in quicksettings pulldown bar to change the bar color? i have changed the color via framework, system ui or htc res, rosie, settings files but.... not sure which files i changed in what location that did that?
Also which file do i need to locate to change the button pressed on the home screen? Cause i wanna get rid of the green sense look to my phone, my phone is looking pretty modded & i know how to use Photoshop to change PNGs & know how to mod APKs too.
Any help would be great i have tried the search bar on here & also in google but didnt get any results & to be honest i know people on XDA will know this.... thanks in advance
The progress bar color in quick settings is defined by this file: common_progress_full.9.png (in SystemUI.apk/res/drawable-hdpi)
Are you using a Gingerbread 2.3.5 or Sense 3.5 rom? If yes, the button press color in the homescreens can't be changed. At the moment all available tools fail with decoding the images.
In Sense 2.1, you have to edit Rosie.apk. For Sense 3 (+ GB 2.3.3 or .4), fusion.apk has to be edited with m10 tool.
I can give you more details if you want to.
Thanks
Thanks for that but i cant locate it in my system ui/res/drawable-hdpi? i tried looking in htc/rs/draw-hdpi too? cant find that common_progress_full.9.png? could you check again for me or if have time upload the file? i cant see why it would be missing though?
I havent had a chance to mess with the m10 editor? is it easy enough to use when editing the fusion.apk?
I love XDA.... its the best for phone modding & has many helpful members

You have to load the Rosie.apk with m10 editor, then decompile the Rosie_navbar.m10 file and change the following opacity values from 1 to 0.0099999998. If you set them to 0, pressing on the buttons will have no effect.
thanks for this

Do you mean the volume bars? if so just goto the UOT Kitchen & chage them in there, then flash them over your rom, or put the changes of your framework & system ui into your rom zip & flash your rom again?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could explain to this noob (me) how to mod the dockbar layout of stock twlauncher? Currently running UCKK4 (KK2 kernel by corn)....? I've tried using tw4, which is very cool, but found its stability to be inconsistent on my cappy. Mainly i would like to 1 or 2 small details re: the stock dockbar... 1. Replace "email" button with "gmail" 2. Add "messaging" icon to dockbar (having 5 icons instead of 4, and actually like the look of app drawer icon on right side)
Also, was wondering if anyone has working mods for KK4 extended power menu & modded batt icon with 9 toggle? Tried flashing ones i had but wound up having to reflash stock.
Any help, pointers, tips, etc are greatly appreciated. Also, my apologies if I've posted this is the incorrect area.
Thx, tjp419

You can find some TWLauncher mods here. You ll have to port it. The source is available there. I suppose someone might have already ported theme to the Captivate.
thanks for the that link! ok, so have to ask, can you explain what it means to "port"? still a noob, lol, sorry
yahh, don't start with ports, being a noob, start with small easy stuff.

Hmm porting means editing the APK so as to make t work on a particular device. You need to know some Java, smali/baksmali for it. You need to decompile the APK, using a utility lke APKTool/APKManager and make edits to the touchwiz code to make those mods for the captivate.
For the request #1, you don't need mod.
Simply do the following
1. on the app drawer (hit applications)
2. hit menu -> choose "view type" -> select "Customizable grid"
3. hit menu -> choose "edit", then you can drag and move around icons.

The easiest way to get that would be to flash a KK4-based ROM with that already baked in. Illuminance comes to mind because it's one that I used most recently that had it, but I know there are other ROMs that fit the bill as well. Just do your homework first so you don't end up in an unhappy place

OMG, you are my hero! This is exactly what I've been trying to figure out... figures it would it would be an easy fix and right under my nose... though, i would still like to learn how to mod & theme apps in general, not just touchwiz, think it would be fun...
On a different note, have a new question/issue... my contacts keep reverting back even after i edit them (add #, or email, or address, etc); randomly, some contactf will go completely missing; also, in the notification bar, i get a message that says "sync error, too many deletes." In settings, under accounts & sync, i have it marked to sync google & facebook contacts. And lastly, curious if anyone else has had these same issues..?. If so, hpe do i fix this?
Again, any help is appreciated.
Thx, tjp

today i can't.
but its too easy any noob can do it
Not tried the ROM but this way are working on ICS, JB 4.1, and JB 4.2
1. Open build.prop
2. Add these lines "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" (without quotes)
3. Reboot
delete launch2.apk and add other launcher that navbar will hide and camera will show images,
you'll only need a camera.apk , i am searching about this now

okay, I have to delete launch2.apk with rom installed, right? I tried to delete it and put another launcher on .zip, but it kept failing all the time trying to install. Strange thing, never had that problem with the tablet. (Maybe the script install every file one by one?)
EDIT: This is disturbing... I fixed the problem with the soft buttons, but even with that, my locales appear messed up (power off appears like reboot, reboot like sound options... and wherever I try to make a call o answer one, FC on phone.apk) (can't post yet on ROM's topic, this is anooying)
R: [Q] [4.0.4] Disabling bottom navigation bar
just go to system folder and open build.prop with root explorer (hold pressed on the file and select open with text editor) and add qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 at the last line(press enter to make a new one)

Maybe I'll do that thing, use TheWhisp's CM9 until this gets very stable, 'cause this is really promising

Well, I'll do a nandroid and try new version, I hope this release fix the phone.apk problem and the locales (I've been thinking, and maybe the problem is that Spanish locales are not correctly implemented, or my Galaxy Mini is completely insane.
totaly useless use 0C7 deodexed from other guide. the callrecord and the lite mod should still work on 0C7 though.
a disclaimer: this shouldn't mess up your phone but if it does.... don't blame me. im not responsible for anything.
You will need FlashFire for this process
and you will need to be coming from the stock 5.0.1 odexed rom or the goldeneye rom
This is a Stock Deodexed Rom. the initial zip has no modifications except to remove some totally useless apps. i had to use an SU zip in the file to give it proper root so you need to go to SU once its installed and set it to grant for now till i figure out how to fix it. i am attaching some mods at the bottom of the post.
those mods are:
Lite Mod - it will remove all the junk and make your rom almost compleatly bloat free.\
Center Clock Mod- kinda self explanatory
call recording mod- also kinda self explanatory.
im having a slight issue with the 5 way reboot mod. i will post it when its fixed.
here is the download link for the rom
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952597907
Instructions:
1.Copy rom and any mods you want to your SD card
2. open flashfire and setup a wipe. do everything except internal storage
3. add the zip for the rom
4. add the mod zips
5. make sure the order in the menu of flash fire is:
Wipe
StockRomDeodexed.zip
any mods.
6.click flash
7. once it reboots it takes forever to start up for the first time. be very patient
if you like my work please hit thanks.
let me know if there are any bugs you come acrossed. ive read that deodexing makes the NFC weird... i have no clue i dont use it.
Edit: i will be releaseing a custom rom in the near future. would people want the stock launcher, nova launcher or the s6 launcher in this rom?

im gonna make a quick list of potential things for lolliop on our phone @mateo121212 im sure these can help you theme / modify your new rom.
1. S4 Lollipop Themes & Apps Forum
2. S4 Lollipop Statusbar Mods
3. S6 Ported Apps(thought id toss this up for good measure)
4. S4 TW System Overlays(easy theming for notification bar and such)
5. S4 Lollipop Dialer / Contact themes(these are kind of a hit and miss, they will work with the right permissions)
6. S4 Lollipop Keyboard overlay themes
hope this helps, also Mateo you said your going for more of an orange theme? are you using overlays or changing system color stuff?

would it be troubling to possibly create an alternative system theme down the line that's more..darker?
maybe dark dark grey with aosp blues or something?
not asking for it any time soon just a thought lolz
i could do something like that but it would take a boatload of time retheaming everything. i have developed custom roms before for other phones just not lollipop or touchwiz based roms. so i have the experience i just have to brush up so its going to be a little bit before i release a polished great rom thats how i started out with my other roms that i have made. im still working on making the base rom to start out with and then build up. if people want i can release what i have made as a pre-alpha sort of thing. its allready allright its just still a tad bit stockish.

However, the process to achieve this is difficult. I'll release another post describing it. It requires enabling the "device theme" setting in Display settings. I'm not 100% sure how to do it. But something Substratum does, and that is the work around currently. In this post, I'm not releasing all of that :good:
First things first, this is definitely a work in progress. But that's alright, we're getting there. It seems that Android O has introduced some changes that have made making these Pixel Mods difficult. The most prominent issue is apktool's inability to compile Android O's apk's (The ability to decompile wasn't available in the beginning either). Also, to put it simply, some things have been moved around or changed up.
For example, to get the blue accent color, you could previously find the accent color hex codes in framework-res.apk and make them identical to the pixel. Those have been replaced by reference numbers instead of hex codes. If you're curious, see the bottom of this post. I'll go into detail of how I achieved the Pixel accent color.
Another issue is the round icons. To my knowledge, previously you switched a code (something along the lines of config_UseRoundIcons=False) in framework-res.apk from false to true. From my testing, I've found that does absolutely nothing now. What's also interesting, I looked at the same line on my Pixel XL running DP3, and it's set to false. But I have round icons. It seems there's a new "trigger" elsewhere that I have yet to find.
I don't know if I've actually figured out anything new or not, but my work is completely open. If anyone wants to borrow my work all I ask for is credit if any belongs to me
So here is what is available currently from me!
What's Included:
-O-DP3 Pixel Launcher W/ Wallpapers (Make sure to grant notification access for notification badges)
-O-DP3 Clock
-O-DP3 Pixel Audio
-Pixel XL 1440p Boot Animation Blacked Edition (Thanks to Luthepa1)
-Pixel Blue Accent Color :good:
-All Rotations 0, 90, 180, 270 (Adds the ability to rotate upside down) Not a Pixel feature, but I like having it
What's Missing / Being Worked On:
-Pixel Navigation Bar Animation
-Tinted Navigation Bar
-Round Icons
-Night Mode

As always, flashing voids your warranty. Always make a backup.
Bugs:
-None that I'm currently aware of
Update: I've made progress on the nav bar. Don't know if it'll work yet, but I've got hope now
Update 2: Fixed the Live Wallpaper crashing bug, credit to jasonzarko
*Information on the Pixel Accent
-In Nougat, you would have 4 lines that contained hex codes that assigned colors to the accent. These were teal variants for the Nexus 6P (and others) and variants of blue for the Pixel. These were located in framework-res.apk in /system/framework. To get the Pixel accent you just copied the hex code, and boom, that's it. Things are different in O.
Now those hex codes have been replaced with reference numbers such as . Those reference numbers lead you to another reference number. From that leads you to a certain hex code that's located in what seems to be a database of color options. The reference numbers for the 6P take you to a few different shades of teal. If I do some comparing with a Nougat framework-res.apk for the Pixel, I'm able to piece together what those teal colors need to be replaced with. That leaves you with the Pixel accent.
However, this leaves you without the option for teal in anything that references back to that. Potentially giving something the blue color that shouldn't have it. It is possible that nothing else references to those, but I have't looked enough. It may also be possible to simply add new colors to the database with a new reference ID and just change the reference. I haven't gotten that far yet. For the mean time, this works well enough.
Great mod. When Your World is selected in Live wallpapers, the wallpapers are crashing. I have given notification access to notification badges FYI
I'm not able to dowload your mod (AFH says 404 not found)...

Thanks for the feedback. I made some changes to the mod. As of now, the live earth wallpapers still crash for some reason. But the live data does work. Sadly, to update this, you'll have to reflash the system.img in TWRP and then reflash your root and the mod. But if you can live with it for a little bit, it'll be easier not to take the newer mod. I'll work on it more later and see if I can stop it from crashing. Thanks again for the feedback on that

I took it down for a second to make a modification hoping to resolve a bug. It's now good to go!
I don't know if it's me or a Google thing, but it seems as if the weather isn't showing up for me. It did previously, which is interesting. Is anybody else having the same issue?

All OK here with the first mod. Haven't tried the latest though.
I have the live earth wallpapers working. There are three files that need to be in System/Apps/WallpapersBReel/Lib/Arm64. Three files are:
- libgdx.so
-libgeswallpapers-jni.so
-libjpeg.so
https://www.mediafire.com/download/rl68f6sxc3fl8ai
You can either copy the lib folder to WallpapersBReel folder or open folder until you get to the three files and copy seperately. Make sure permissions are set to 644 for all files.

No problem. Thanks for the great mod!!
If you plan on using substratum I highly recommend not flashing this. For some reason this zip breaks substratum
Hate to tell this, but the live wallpapers are still crashing.

It doesn't look like the 3 files were added yet to fix it. There is a post earlier in here with the three files and instructions to get it working.

Sorry, I've been busy today. I added the files necessary and uploaded to AFH. I didn't change the link though. I'm updating the link, it for sure works now

I updated the link now. The zip should have a suffix of V2. That contains the necessary fix

That's interesting. I have it working on mine. Did you flash V2 of the mod?
If so, then you may need to flash your system.img over in twrp. That's found in the stock factory image for DP3. I'd just flash that in twrp in the system.img slot and the reflash too and that should revert everything back to stock and clean install the mod
