Hello,
I just bought my Z1. I want to flash custom kernel and unlock bootloader (first, I will do backup TA), but what I will lose (X-Reality for example?), if I will unlock bootloader with official instruction?
Two question...
I read on the page
To unlock the Xperia™ Z1 boot loader, you must make sure your device is on software build 14.2.A.0.290 (Android 4.3) or later. Unlocking the boot loader on earlier software versions will stop the camera functionality.

Is it mean, that Sony fixed problems with X-Reality and lower quality photos too?

No more lost X-Reality.
As for the camera, Sony was not very clear. Some who say yes, others say no difference in image quality.
Cheers.

So I will not lose any function and be calm?
Thank you for reply!
X-reality never worked for me on 4.4.4, locked or unlocked.

No more stop X-Reality in 4.3 or later
I unlocked my phone BL with no problem
Don't scare, and if you're sure; just do it bravely

Hi,
As most of us already got XPERIA S and/or XPERIA T/TX, we know that after unlocking the bootloader BE is stop working.
Now, what about Z, is it the same? Can anyone with unlocked bootloader confirms if it's working or not?
Thanks
AW: Is BE2 working with unlocked bootloader?
And another thread by a user not using the search function. Thank you very much, not.

T-Mobile XZ is locked bootloader so u cannot unlock it.
cause in standard method of xperia unlocking u should get unlocking code from sony but they won't send it to C6606

I have already a custom recovery (I think its like in OMAP devices like Moto Dx2 or Razr XT910-912), so my question is if I can flash customs roms and if every rom on developers section is compatible...
So u can first flash custom boot loader and then try custom kernel and rom
But it s better to ask rom developer that u wanna install it

What?
1. There is no such thing as a "custom boot loader" for the Z.
2. Custom kernels will not run on a locked bootloader. Flashing one via recovery will soft brick the device.
To answer the original question, you should be able to flash any stock based custom rom on the C6606. I'm not sure on how it will affect LTE, but I've seen quite a few people around the forums using custom roms on the C6606.

Does anyone know if TMobile brand Sony Xperia Z able to flash the other ROMs. I know it's BL and will lose TMO Wifi call function. But TMO stop at 4.3, and I cant see any hope for 4.4, 5.0. Is possible to flash other ROMs? Thank you.
Yes, you can.

WIFI calling function will not work ofcourse but if you are not satisfied you can flash stock firmware anyday using XPERIA FLASH TOOL. You need to unlock the bootloader using official Sony Method. If you can unlock the BL which I was able to.
Then you can download and install Cyanogenmod 13,12,11,10. (C6603) - Yes, it has issues, so I switched to.
SlimKat 4.4.4 - YUGA (C6606) - NO BUGS AT ALL.
Also do remember to flash SGAPPS from their repository no the opengapp.org gapps.
Big difference I found is that Stock OS on new flash takes around 500-700MBs of RAM where SlimKAT takes only 350MB w/o GAPPS and 500MBs GAPPS.
Good luck! I will show you screenshots

The official tutorial is over here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWPYicb8_-Q
I guess that means there's still no way if your C6606 says "Bootloader unlock allowed: NO".
I own the Xperia SP since 2013. I recently got a Galaxy S6. The issue with the Xperia SP I had was like many others, even after Carrier Unlock, the bootloader unlocked allowed remained No. Hence I was very limited to the ROMs I can use. We don't even have Lollipop stable enough for daily use. UBL right now has Marshmallow and also Cyanogenmod Nightlies which I would like to try out on my Xperia before I root my Galaxy S6.
So do we have any updates for SP users to be able to unlocked the bootloader? I mean neither Sony nor carriers support the device anymore, they should allow us to play with it now, no?
Please post any updates here
i agree they should tell us how to unlock it as no -one supports it anymore
I read somewhere (i realy dont recall where) that sending your phone to sony so they can unlock the device for you. is possible.....
Any news ?
