HOW TO: Watch XBMC with LocalCast, BubbleUPnP, Allcast, Avia etc. - Google Chromecast

Hey everybody,
THE DISCUSSION OF ILLEGAL DOWNLOADS IS PROHIBITED ON THE XDA FORUMS
I'm a owner of a google Chromecastand have been searching for a way to stream xbmc to big screen via LocalCast, but could not find it so edited an existing playercorefactory.xml file to my needs.

@vibajajo64 for his allcast playercorefactory.xml @trainriderben for his avia playercorefactory.xml
**Before Doing this you need to uninstall your current XBMC except if you already have the XAF version!**

I used Gotham's build instead and it works but what I am supposed to see when I paste the player core factory file? There was none existing before that
This is what I downloaded

As far I know the xbmc team removed the playercorefactory in the Gotham release cause the built in now supports hardware decoding what was not supported in Frodo...
I'm sorry but I don't know if ART is the problem but I doubt it!

Hey so now I have a bit of a problem I am wondering if you have any clues or tips. So when I copy the playercorefactory.xml where you said, it does in fact open non-live video streams with, for example, BubbleUpNP, but when I want to open a live stream I get the error "External Player Active" "Click Ok when Playback has Ended" ... I even tried holding down on the video and pressing "Open with" and choosing specific players, but no luck. Any suggestions?
Thank you. (Of course this is using Gotham's build).

Most of the links in NAVI dont work using this method. Screen mirroring is the only solution !

Hey Guys,
Please remember that discussing how to pirate online videos is against XDA rules. It is one thing to offer this app. However, it is another thing to guide someone to not only breaking XDA rules but to breaking the law as well.
@erdal67 Will you please add a statement to your OP reminding everyone that the discussion of illegal downloads is prohibited on XDA.

I don't know who you are trying to accuse or why you just accused everyone in this thread of piracy but I won't stand for such an accusation and I would appreciate either of you apologize for making such a false accusation or clarify your post.
Thank you

Problem with subtitles
Hi everyone, I configured xbmc to use bubble and it works fine, despite that in some cases I don't get subtitles for my videos. Does anyone know how to fix that?
Thanks

Hi I just was wondering, I am using Plex for my media streaming via chromecast, can anyone tell me a benefit of using XBMC as in this thread?
I'm I missing something or is it just a personal preference as to which one to use?
Plex works so good on the Mac, and it has a built in chromecast support, but I see there is a lot of people using XBMC.. which one is best to use if you want to stream movies via chromecast?
thanks for any info..

You'll know when you tried/test it. the kdz root via cheat engine still stands. If it doesn't work then yes it is patched.
IMHO, and with froyo updates coming from V10a-e. updates are indeed updates (improvements). Best explained by experiencing/installing.

[Repository] Essential Hard To Find Files

Update: 9 October 2014
The links for all the files below have been pulled. I have a detailed post why located here.
Hello All !!!
Since I have been given the Moderator title and I also got a new device (SGS3 Woot!! Woot!!), I won't be around the Vibrant section too much, except maybe a drop-in here and there. I loved this phone and learned so much about how Android, Samsung and XDA works. Sad to go but as Kurt Vonnegut says, "So it goes" (Google it - It comes from a great, classic book).
Below is a almost all the files I have on my HDD and any that anyone wants to send to me. These will be hosted on my Dev-host account indefinitley, as they will never get stale and won't be deleted until I do so. The downloads are NOT fast, but they are stable and reliable.
If anyone has any files that they don't see on this list, please send me a link. I will download them and then re-upload to my Dev-Host account and you can take them out of yours before you get locked for too much traffic (i.e. Dropbox).
Please Note: This thread is a Download Thread. Everything in here is free for the taking, however the info on how, where and when to apply these is out in the fora.
Above All: All Credit Goes To The Original Creators Of Everything.
Choice is something that has been fought for, relinquished, dreamt of and lost. Here in XDA we have a choice to either use on not to use. This is YOUR choice. If YOU decide to use these tweaks, any problems that arise are YOUR responsibility. Now that is out of the way, here you are.
IF you cannot find what you want here, you most definitely will be able to find it in N00B_In_N33D's awesome thread---> [REF] The Official XDA Vibrant Bible Thread. He has put a crap-ton of work in it and please have a look at it. Also hit his Thanks as well. It's free and he deserves some recognition for his efforts, even if it is only a button click.
You can click on these and it will direct you to my Dev-Host page and will provide an MD5 Checksum there.

These can be dropped in /data/local, set permissions and profit. This will leave your "stock" bootanimation in /system/media (what ever it is at the time according to your ROM) unadulterated.
Meaning that if you don't like the Bootanimation that you dropped in /data/local, you can just delete it and your original will still be in /system/media and on next boot.

Thank you my friend for all your hard work and great knowledge you've brought the Vib community over the last two years :victory: This is not a goodbye of course lol I know where you live lol I'll see ya on the GREEN-side and hopefully soon rockin' my Zen with you guys @ the TMO G3 forums !!! Thanks Woody
WOW WOOD truly amazing work on the post could not say it ne better thanks for all u do for us cheers!
Don't forget to send me any files that you may have that are not on the list above. I will be uploading a few more ROMs and all the 2.2/2.3.x kernels this weekend. It would be good for you to send what you have so that I can do it all in one night.
Just PM me a link and I will download it, re-upload it to Dev-Host and PM you back so you can delete it if you want too.
I tried to flash the Stock 512 PIT and my phone is now comepletely bricked... There goes the 150 I was gonna sell it for...
Dino, did you only flash the 512 pit? 512 only works in combination with the JFD .tar. So in pit section you put the pit file, next in the pda area you put the JFD tar file which is the full stock image, and then start odin. Try to get back in DL mode and try again. Also unselect auto reboot and check repartition. After it completes, then hold the power button for > 5 seconds
Yes... but I did figure that out and fix it. Silly mistake, sorry.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Maybe I'll post something in the OP that this is just a download thread and that the directions on how to use them are out "there".
This weekend I will try to link all the downloads to their respective threads. That may help with any unforseen issues creeping up like above.
Anyways, Dino. Glad you made it out alive.
Great idea and resource
Thank you for this. It would be so awesome to see this for every device using this thread as a template. What a great idea and great execution.

Are my links down? I check them periodically to be sure. I know they are not the fastest, but they should still be working. Thanks for posting some mirrors though.
So yesterday I was downloading something for my Nexus5 while on my Nexus 7 (2013) that was hosted on Dev-Host (DH). As you may or may not have known, DH has implemented some sort of partnership with an ad service that wants to install an apk before you are able to hit the Download link in the center of the page. If you are on a browser like Dolphin, it will open another screen and you can deny/cancel then. But if you are on other browsers (I have multiple installed for various functionalities), it will auto-install. This has been happening for a few months now and several Users and Developers have emailed and PM'd the DH owners. XDA has reached out as well to no avail.
As I was saying, yesterday I was downloading something to my N7 and the pop up came as expected. I hit Cancel like usual, only this time it redirected my browser to another page. It said I had a Virus and that I needed to push OK to run the scan. Well, we all know how malware works and their reliance on you pushing OK. I backed out of it and closed the tab. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to know what happened. So I tried again, only this time I captured the screenshots (I'll upload later on) and the URL. I put the URL into Wheregoes.com and it was a redirect with 4 children to trkthatpaper.org. This didn't sit well with me and I instantly put Airplane mode on and ran a full virus scan on my tablet. After a bit of panic and research, I concluded that my tablet was clean.
After the past few months and last night's fiasco, I cannot in safe conscience host any of my works on Dev-Host any longer. It is to the point where I will be taking the links down in the OP and going to a public computer to delete them and my account on Dev-Host. Yes, I feel that strongly about this that I am 1) Using a Public Computer to log in and delete my works and 2) I am having my account dissolved if possible (if not, it will die on its own from being unused and stale).
I have everything in my OP still on my HDD, so if anyone wants anything, please feel free to PM me and I'll upload it to a more reputable host or you can find many of the files in @N00B_IN_N33D's [REF] The Official XDA Vibrant Bible Thread -ROMS/KERNELS/MODEMS/MODS/ETC- 12/29/13 . Most of the works in both our threads are outdated, however sometimes you need to start from scratch and trying to find the files to do so can prove to be a struggle.
I am unsticking this thread and pulling my links, but as I said above, if you need any of them please let me know.
Thank you for understanding and be safe out there.

Enable 1080p on YouTube for your OnePlus One

As of 09/06: Google has fixed the problem and is now showing 1080p on 4.4.4 ROMs. This is no longer needed.
If the problem still occurs, try the suggestion by @DirtyDroidX
Delete YouTube from /system/app and reboot. Then download it from the market. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55410590&postcount=53

Background Information
I'm not sure if you guys have noticed but with the XNPH30O OTA it updated our phones from Android 4.4.2 to 4.4.4. Thats great and all, but theres something that a lot of us didn't see happen. When we updated to Android 4.4.4, we also lost our ability to watch YouTube videos on 1080p.
By using Android 4.4.4, the YouTube app only grants us the option of viewing YouTube videos at a maximium of 720p even though the video is capable of transcoding to 1080p. This is not exclusive to the OnePlus One but also to other devices such as the HTC One M8, Nexus 5 and so forth (originally saw this thread on the N5 forums but not everybody here visits that forum because they might not own the device so this is more or less a repost to be informative)
You can verify this by selecting any YouTube video of your choice, go to menu -> gears (middle) -> max 720p.
By doing the below the max will be 1080p.
Requirements
* Root Access
* Ability to edit build.prop in /system/ of your choice whether it is pushing it, file explorer, etc.
Procedure
1. Open build.prop in /system/
2. Find the line
Code:
ro.build.version.release=4.4.4
3. Modify this line from 4.4.4 to 4.4.2. It should appear as,
Code:
ro.build.version.release=4.4.2
4. Reboot your phone
5. Go to any YouTube video and then go to menu -> gears -> 1080p should be shown.
How to Revert
When a new OTA comes, you will need to manually open up build.prop and modify the line from 4.4.2 back to 4.4.4 and then apply the OTA.
Enjoy your YouTube videos in 1080p rather than 720p! Hopefully YouTube fixes this but for now this is the workaround.

Note it'll have to be done again manually when a new version comes out
So weird how Google made it 720p, its either a bug or they went backwards going from 1080 to 720

btw, MAHDI OTA works (I guess it doesn't check for that line in build.prop), so as long as I haven't modified any *.mahdi.* related lines should be OK.

Yeah the OTA center only checks for Version and file. All this trick does is just trick the phone that you're running Android 4.4.2 instead of 4.4.4 and for some reason it'll enable 1080p whereas if ur on 4.4.4, it hides the option.
You should go change it to Android 5.0 while you're at it
Hopefully Google fixes this and realize that the OPO and other devices that are affected are actually 1080p devices and not 720p.

Tapatalk definitely needs to tone it down when it comes to uploading screenshots. In the OP I had to actually change the resolution of the picture. It was taking a large portion of the page similarly to your picture.
Great fix thx I don't care if it says 4.4.2 in about phone. Got 1080 YouTube.[emoji3]
A new YouTube update was pushed to the play store. If anybody hasn't done the change, can they check if youtube fixed this problem?

Ahh.. so it appears but then you can't press on it to change to 1080p. The 4.4.2 trick still works with the new YouTube version.
Works! Thx
Thanks! This was posted in the Mahdi thread as it was being discussed why our 1080p Nexus 5 smartphones couldn't receive 1080p YouTube videos. Thanks for the fix. Much appreciated.
So, every time we flash a new ROM update we have to re-do this fix?

That's correct, you'll just have to manually open up build.prop and change it to 4.4.2 again. You'll have to keep doing this until Google fixes this. They will most likely fix it, but we're unsure when they will. I was hoping the new update to YouTube today would resolve it but nope.
maybe someone should write them a bug report, cause if no one does they wont fix it. im going to write one

[GUIDE]Set Video as bootanimation(Testers needed!)

Hey guys because of Motorola's good deeds i found a way to Set a Video as bootanimation.
The procedure is very simple.
EDIT : VIDEO TUTORIAL IS NOW ADDED !!!
EDIT 2: WATCH DOGS/ctOS BOOTANIMATION IS NOW ADDED !!!
EDIT 3: SUPPORT FOR LOLLIPOP ADDED . NOT TESTED PERSONALLY BUT USERS CLAIMING IT WORKS THANKS TO LuanTeles !!!
EDIT 4: TankiFrench FOUND A NICE TOOL TO CONVERT SIMPLE BOOTANIMATION ZIPS TO VIDEO BOOTANIMATION ZIPS. HERE YOU GO http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2651044

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Why use Video instead of set of pics?
Ans.
1. It will take less space in /system.
2. This can play the animation with steady fps doesn't matter the power of cpu. (Old bootanimations slow down the animation some times if cpu is not able to handle the animation)
3. At the End we can put any awesome video we like as bootanimation . f*ck yeah!
Requirements :
1. Rooted Phone
2. Android 4.4.x or 5.0.x(still need testing)
Procedure :
1(a). Download this bootanimation file for kitkat .
Code:
[URL="http://www13.zippyshare.com/v/26992022/file.html
"]Zippyshare[/URL]
[URL="http://www.mediafire.com/download/mx8g6zfukfb6fql/bootanimation"]Mediafire[/URL]
[URL="https://www.dropbox.com/s/0t7lpyrsfys5t1o/bootanimation?dl=0"]Dropbox (Thanks to danielbe)[/URL]
1(b). Download this bootanimation file for lollipop
Code:
[URL="http://goo.gl/CFPYAZ"]Google Drive (thanks to LuanTeles)[/URL]
2. Replace it with your bootanimation file from /system/bin.
3. Set 755(octal) permission (i.e rwx-rx-rx) to bootanimation file.
4. Download attached bootanimation.zip and modify it with your mp4 videos
Code:
[B]Notice :[/B] Below attached bootanimation.zip is extracted from Moto E device.
It contains 2 mp4 files inside instead of 2 folder full with pics.
One mp4 is for main bootanimation and second mp4 video is for looping.
After using this method old type bootanimation may not work so make backup of your phone's bootanimation file and bootanimation zip.
5. At last push the modified bootanimation.zip in /system/media and overwrite and set 644(octal) permission (i.e rw-r-r) permission.

YOU CAN ALSO JUST USE FOLLOWING ATTACHED BOOTANIMATION.ZIP IF YOU WANT MOTO E/G BOOTANIMATION. :victory:

You did everything correctly? like replacing the bootanimation file in /system/bin
The new bootanimation file is 25.27 KB (25872 Bytes) in size.
Check if it is properly replaced
and did you set the permission properly?
And how you know it didnt worked i mean what was the result?

Everything was replaced that needed to be replaced and permissions were set. But no video boot animation..or any boot animation at all. All I get is a blank screen while Android loads up.
I'm getting a different size for the bootanimation file. I've downloaded it again and it's definitely 37.4 KB, not 25.27....

Easy enough to do..
Downloaded the new file, stuck into the flashable zip I made, flashed and....now my Sony phone is advertising Motorola! Very nice! :highfive:
There's about a second of delay before the video loads and starts playing but that may have been my imagination. Hardly an issue anyway.
Now I just need to find a suitable video I can use. Hmm....
My flashable zip is attached. It uses the Universal Flashing Tool, so it makes a flashable backup file of the files it replaces. However, the UFT doesn't work on every rom...
So I've attached a 'standard' flashable zip as well.
I've made a folder on my Mediafire account with some flashable zips for this. Have a look at my post later in the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56960679&postcount=91
So it worked . Glad to know. Thanks to inform my mistake
And please share your bootanimations you made here too. I will also want to try your bootanimations

Does not work on HTC M7 Lollipop CM12. Can you make a special "bootanimation" file for lp?
Actually mine has a few seconds before it comes up. I did the droid ome and all i got was the second mp4 video amd did not see the first mp4. Any idea? I also noticed that earlier as well. Any ideas? Sony xperia z ultra.

Anyone kind enough to upload the .appx package for the Samsung Notes Windows 10 app?

So there's a Samsung Notes app for Windows 10 that allows syncing with the phone and everything, but the Microsoft Store won't let you download it unless you have a Samsung PC.
I found this guide: https://www.maketecheasier.com/download-appx-files-from-windows-store/ that indicates how to get the direct download link for the package from a PC that can download the app, but I obviously can't do that (if I could download the app I wouldn't need that lol).
Here's the link to the app from the Microsoft Store: https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9NBLGGH43VHV
So it would be really nice if someone with a compatible PC would get the download link so that the rest of us can sync our notes to our PCs.
Thank you for reading!
Edit: added the link to the Microsoft Store page for the app.

I've tried using Fiddler, but I'm getting no joy making it work for me. I did manage to download the app from the UK Store though and it syncs as expected. Try this link https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/p/samsung-notes/9nblggh43vhv#activetab=pivot:overviewtab

I've tried using Fiddler, but I'm getting no joy making it work for me. I did manage to download the app from the UK Store though and it syncs as expected. Try this link https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/p/samsung-notes/9nblggh43vhv#activetab=pivot:overviewtab
Good luck

The link still doesn't work. It says my device isn't compatible. Thank you though.

We would greatly appreciate that!
I would really love to have this on my desktop
I'm also very interested in this, and will buy a beer for anyone who can provide the requested .appx package

FYI, you can find out how to package the app here: https://github.com/mjmeans/Appx-Backup

Yeah, so maybe Windows has gotten smart to Fiddler? Following the instructions (from one of the above posts) didn't work. Never provided an .appx file. Even uninstalling (and fully removing any trace of the install package), and trying multiple times didn't work.
Anyway, I now have Samsung Notes on the laptop, and perhaps this method will work. More to follow.

No joy. Don't have the required tools to make the script work.
*** Edit ****
Tried my HP laptop. It started downloading. Not sure why others can't simply install it from the store. Didn't seem to care I had an HP. Regardless, I installed Fiddler for another shot. Seemed to work this time. Saving it to Google drive.

YOU GENIOUS IT WORKED!!! Thank you so much, you don't have an idea how much people want this. I suggest you post the link in a separate thread in the Note 9 forums and in reddit for those sweet internet points lol. Thank you very much again! I'm pretty sure someone here promised you a beer.

Glad it worked. Couldn't sync at first, but it finally let me log in.... after I closed and opened the app about 5 times.

Forced synchronization for Samung Notes on Windows 10
First many thanks for the APPX file. You can force a synchronization in settings on the Win10 app. by mouse clicking, first "Samsung Cloud" then a new menu comes up "Sync with Samsung Cloud" and by clicking that menu you get a "Synchronize Now" click that text and it starts to Synchronize
