[Q] Heart Rate Monitor App? - Samsung Gear Live

It would be helpful to have a simple heart rate monitor app that takes your body/age stats and gives you calories burned during a workout as well as using the heart rate monitor to actually monitor your heart rate constantly during a workout rather than just a moment in time. Does anyone know if the hardware is preventing that, as it doesn't seem that it would.

[IDEA] HTC Temperature Sensor

Hello guys i was wondering do our HTC ONE have a temperature Sensor built in, what i mean by that is a sensor that is able to detect the temperature outside like if u are at home in your room etc.
The reason to ask you is because before few days when i was outside i was trying to make a picture and when i shoot it a pop message appear that flash cant be used because its too cold.
And i start to wonder when the device can measure the temperature outside why then on the market its not availible app that is doong that for real.

AFAIK there is a built in sensor to measure CPU and battery temperatures, so when it get very cold outside, the cpu can't run as it should, that's why you have this error message I think
To answer your question, I think the sensor we have only measures cpu temp and not direct outside temperature,
Please correct me if I'm wrong

i am not sure about the out-side temp sensor,
but a cold CPU can't run correct , i doubt that. as a cold CPU is a dream for any machine
and practically there is no such cold CPU unless it was cooled on purpose.
however i think the cold temp effects capacitors or other staff that can't work in low temp
but 95% its not the CPU.

all posters are correct its actually the sensor inside the battery that measure its temperature that is complaining when you try to take a pic. The cpu also has a thermometer but the colder a cpu the better it runs actually. Batteries cannot be too cool and also cannot be too hot. Not sure if you ever used the wifi tether for root user app back in the play store a while ago but it would show you your battery temp and as you tethered more and more the battery temp would go up. I'd also imagine the camera uses teh battery temp to assume the temp of the flash too.. if the bulb is too cold and flashes it could break.
cheers

Not correct at least at one point.
A CPU CAN be too cold.
But then we are talking about cryotech cooling systems that will cool the cpu several 100 degrees below zero. That would be so cold a cpu actually would not work because the electrons cant move or something like that(im not that technical too explain deeper).
Allso i have doubts when you say a battery cannot get too hot...?

yes thats what i meant by "practically there is no such cold CPU unless it was cooled on purpose."
and this is used to overclock some CPU's with a very high Freq. (thats what i know)

Gear 2 Heart rate monitor app

Hello,
I am interested in getting the Gear 2, most likely the Neo. One thing that I am having trouble finding is for the heart rate monitor to sound an alarm when your heart rate reaches a predetermined rate. I have a heart murmur that I have noticed gives me problems when my heart rate reaches about 160. I have been using the MotoActive, I like it, it's just too bulky, plus you have to wear the strap around your chest. This would come in handy when running, or riding MTB. I am constantly looking down at the "watch" to get my HR, not looking where I am going! an audible alert would be awesome.
Thanks,
Matt

sorry mate, you're on the gear 1 forum here, head other to the right place to ask this
Sorry, didn't realize that!

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Moto Z Force before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Been browsing xda fir about a half hour now on WiFi. Brightness just above 1/4. Used a whopping 6% battery.
Screen on time is on par, maybe a bit less than the best phones I have used. A lot better than my G5.

Heat

Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the Sony Xperia X stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
very bad when taking photos/videos
you can iron your clothes when xperia X is hot
Mine is only heating up when using the camera, other than that 98% of the time it stays cool

I second this. If taking pictures for a minutes or so it will turn off features and give me that warning lol. Cannot wait to get a phone that will allow me to take pictures for much longer. Pretty much use my phone for sms, pictures and music
Only when exposed to sun but that's obvious xD

90Hz refresh rate is a battery drainer!

The 90 Hz refresh rate seems to be taking a toll on the batterylife of OnePlus 7 Pro even when equipped with a 4000 mAh battery.
As MKBHD reviews , 4 and half hr of SOT is definitely not great. (Skip to 06:37)
Just wait for more reviews.
the review of the verge stated completely the opposite. Battery life depends so much on the use.. Keep wifi on with mobile data, gps and everything and it drops way faster. Keep a bit of attention what to keep on, lower the brightness just 10% and you get easiliy a screen on time more.

How to well setup the phone to get good batterylife I'm well aware. , it's just that no one should be compelled to turn this phone into a dumbphone to get good batterylife as the refresh rate is not downgradable.
Let's hope more and more reviewers/users do not get similar results like Marques. :good:
*edit: Refresh rate is downgradable to 60Hz.

You can turn to 60 hz in the settings and also 1080p. So you can get better battery when needes.
Look at other reviews.. 7-8 hours SOT.. MKBHD always gets low SOT.. he uses max screen brightness, 10000 notifications a day...

My bad, I heard CAN as CAN'T :silly: in that video at 07.20, thanks for the correction. But then downgrading to 60Hz should not be considered as "the solution" as 90Hz is what separates the screen from others.

True that MKBHD always gets low due to his "usage".
We also see that, he gets more batterylife in phones like S10+, way more in P30 Pro etc..so OP7 Pro's endurance would mostly fall below those chart toppers - should suffice most users.

It is a solution though. It's eating the battery more so if you want better Battey life you have to downgrade.

That's a "workaround" at the cost of sacrificing the USP of the product itself- OnePlus has been so hyping and bragging about.
So you buy a 90hz phone but use it at 60hz to save battery haha. I remembered the old days when ppl buy a car they want a $2000 ac option but rarely use it because the car wont last long
In one review it was said that Oneplus is currently working on an adaptive refresh rate (and probably also resolution), which would lower it automatically when unnecessary: For example, if you watch a youtube video thats 20min long you don't need the 90Hz as you'll barely touch the screen and there is no 90Hz content. That would be the ideal solution.
It might, but I am sure the optimization of the OXYGEN system will handle that perfectly!

1. It's the "possibility" of a "Dynamic Refresh Rate" OnePlus is working on to push via software update and only FUTURE will tell.
2. "Dynamic Resolution" is the other measure in which, having the screen resolution at full resolution most of the time, it automatically scales down the resolution to 1080p while playing 1080p content.
*(Both points described on the OP, at 07:45).

Whoops, didn't see that youtube link in the OP
"OnePlus 7 Pro vs Samsung S10 Plus / iPhone XS Max / P30 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9 Battery Life DRAIN TEST" :
Just give the phone a few weeks after some updates im sure op7 pro will be better in terms of battery! the phone just released yesterday guys..calm down
No matter what phone I purchased since the good ole days, "5 years ago" when batteries were replaceable I have never been happy with battery life. Why does everybody who builds devices have to make batteries as thin as possible ? An extra 2 to 3 mm if they can give me an extra few hours before looking for a charge is better that a super slim device. Now even they worst case was true 4 hours screen on time, I rarely use my phone four hours a day, the battery life should be fine.

Adaptive battery somewhat works in my Galaxy S10 Plus I believe.
When it comes to OP, only time will tell about that "Dynamic refresh rate" ...these terms though ? reminded me of "Intelligent Pixel Technology" with the OP5T's secondary camera and it was anything but what it was meant for.
...Let's see. ?
I'm averaging about 6 hours SOT but I haven't done anything too intensive. I'll have to wait and see on battery but I haven't been disappointed at all.
