Adding link to XDA within ROM and Website - AOKP Feature Development

Hey AOKP lovers,
I've been thinking a lot about how to improve the current way of getting in touch with the official AOKP developers. And even though they have linked their Forum @ RootzWiki to their website, I feel that the main place for Android devs to be, XDA, is coming short. My proposal ist to additionally add the link to the AOKP section within XDA to their official website as well as the ROMs. Could you please acknowledge this proposal, @MarcLandis? Huge thanks ahead!

A polite request for knowledge

Now ive potentially duped you into reading my post, i simply wish to know your general views on the xperia t and its dev community here. im coming from an htc desire that has a huge dev section on xda with countless roms to try out, how does this compare?
is the camera any good? have you got jelly bean yet? etc
a sincere thank you to those willing to comment, positively or not
One love
Thread closed. Sorry to put a downer on your thread but all the information you need is in the forums across various existing threads mainly in the General section. You're actually lucky as there's only 5 pages of threads in total in the General section so even if search doesn't work you can see all the threads.
For information about the phone you can look in any of the review threads or I got my Xperia T/TX etc. For the camera there are a couple of discussions with examples in the General section so you can see for yourself how good the pics are (or aren't). For development you only need to look in Android Development or Original Development to see CM10, AOKP, Paranoid Android, PACMan and stock ROM's are available.
Thanks

How can I get my Device LG LS660 Listed on XDA-Devs Page/Forum?

Hi,
I was wondering how to get a Section on the XDA Forum made for the Virgin Mobile/Sprint/Boost LG Tribute LS660 device and have our devices listed at the top of XDA Devs where it says "Type to find device".
I love this forum and have for years. Only recently have I gotten really involved. Specifically in the development on the LG LS660.
A lot of development has taken place over the last few weeks in the LG Android community.
From this thread we have been making great developments...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/lg-tribute-development-t2953342/page98
Within this thread @jgkim @Unjustified Dev and I found things in our device that led to rooting our phones and then almost every other unrootable LG phone out on the market.
Here is @Unjustified Dev 's guide he wrote up.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772
From that guide @avicohh scripted up a one click method here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
And now I have a Q&A + Tips thread going to try and keep our development thread going.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/vm-sprint-lg-tribute-ls660-f60-t3059635
So with all this development how can we get our own section on XDA-Development made? It would be greatly appreciated to get this going stronger with a little more organization. Plus it would just be nice to see our devices listed!
Thanks for your time if you read this, Cheers!
 @high247
Can someone point me in the right direction of who I need to talk to, to make this happen? Thanks!
This is the correct thread to post in for such requests:

New Trend of ROM Discussion

XDA is forum for Custom ROMs, Discussion, Troubleshooting, etc.
From sometime Thread OP are creating a Telegram group to discuss bugs, troubleshooting and other things, and posting the Links in OP then what is meaning of creating threads on XDA. Why XDA mods are allowing these threads. My personal opinion is all the discussions regarding the ROM or Kernel should go on thread not on other platforms.
What do other XDA members think. Share your views here to stop these practice's.

I understand what your referring to as I've seen this as well from time to time...
I had thought that there was an XDA Forum Rule(s) that restricts the sole use of the Telegram on the forum (I believe that there's more to this rule as well)
The choice of one of the following threads is probably your best bet for providing this type of feedback.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1976627
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987254
Only a Moderator/Administrator (like @MikeChannon or @Darth for example) can really provide a clear outline/understanding for this rule.
Good Luck!

There's this we put out not long ago, https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/telegram-chat-channels-forward-t3764521
Basically, no TG links should be anywhere on xda, except in post number one of a development thread, only. We realize devs may want some quick communication with members for some issues, and real time chat is obviously quick.
But no links to TG should be anywhere else on xda. :good:
Just hit report if you see links outside of the first post in a dev thread, and mods will handle it.

Thank you very much for your time with providing this valuable guidance!
Now I know more about the XDA Policy regarding this specific topic.
I am not a big fan of the Telegram being used as a primary means of support for a development and such that's posted on the Forum but, I felt that it could be an alternative tool in addition to active support on the said Developmental Thread posted.
Just my personal thoughts...

Exactly! One TG link in a dev thread op is supposed to be an optional way of communicating. Definitely never the only way. If it's found that a OP is only supporting, discussing or updating on Telegram, the thread would likely be closed if its discovered to be this way. :good:

Thank you for clearing this up.
Sometimes some user post a bug or need troubleshooting, other user guide him/her to a Telegram group for that specific thing and do not discuss it inside thread. This should not be permitted.
I think there should be strict rule regarding what is permitted to discuss outside the thread.

Just my opinion on this (and from what I understand regarding the XDA Rules)...
I believe that there can be certain circumstances with providing guidance via Telegram but, it shouldn't be the sole option for the member.
As a member myself, I actually don't use Telegram but, I have used it previously under certain circumstances that are very seldom if that.
As a developer myself, sometimes there's support/guidance that is preferred to be taken offline and, if needed, the results would be determined to be of value to other members within the thread or something that didn't.
I do personally prefer to keep most conversations on the thread as something beneficial to other members but, there has been occasions that I'd prefer to take it offline to prevent misunderstandings and confusion.
I hope that I had stated the above okay via text...
I did notice that this discussion was also continued elsewhere, and even responded to by @the_scotsman and @Weapon X as well...

I understand the want for this but lets all really be honest. Development and support has been moved off XDA for years. A forum setup just doesnt really benefit the fast paced nature of currant development. Even back when I made roms for the old Galaxy S1 the team would do all development off site. Mostly because it was a faster response time. XDA has become a staging ground for roms while everything development and learning are done in chats. Like The most popular telegram or whats app and I hear some are even using discord (not sure about that last one as it seems out of place on a gaming messaging platform but hey)
As for the rule about the link only being in the OP. Well they have been getting around that by sending PM with the links or just flat out posting the links. No one reports it so no mods see it unless they stumble upon it.
If XDA wants to remain somewhere other then a place to post rom links thy might want to figure out that IM style messaging setup sooner or later.
Darth I can tell you that thererare many roms that are only updating on telegram and only offer support there as well. Everything posted here is just the "stable" versions if you know what I mean. Long has XDA been being used as a traffic grab by many.
Just my 2cents.
Is Custom ROM safe to install in smartphones? because most of the custom ROM's soft brick the phone.

[CLOSED] [Discussion] TheRagingBeast Kernel: A totally baised community

I joined trb telegram gp and was totally amazed with the charging speed 2000-2100ma consistent at any temp. Then after a while noticed temp rises to whoping 47-48C contantly. Then I compared trb to pbh in the group in this good manner
Trb= Fast charging with 47C temp
Any other kernal= Ok charge speed with temp 43C max(in pb*). The trade off are equivalent trb not so gr8 as I thought.. Then a member told bb is not good then i shared charging speed of pbh in response to an admin telling pbh is bad(yes an admin talked and continue chat about pbh after all he is admin) vai screenshot and got fban immediately yes just shared the pic and after that fban from the group no warning no rules at all. Once in PE I was using no username so the admin warned me twice and third time they gave me 5 min. See the difference totally baised community even trb is closed sourced that's why thier thread is closed. And their every download link has tons and tons of ads.
BTW my thanks meter is just 1 cuz never asked anyone
TRB CLOSED THREAD LINK go and see what moderate reason were for closer https://forum.xda-developers.com/asus-zenfone-max-pro-m1/development/kernel-theragingbeast-derpgang-t3862835/page6
They were redirecting to telegram gp so that they can monetize vai their ****ty download links
XDA is not a place to discuss about Telegram groups, whether the group is good, or bad.
Okay
1. Why dont u ask other kernel cookers to get such speed
2. So when u r noob lemme tell asus P blobs are also responsible for heat, so go and complain about it to asus
3. When u share ss of our group u may need to provide proof of other kernels too. Common sense
4. Our thread was closed by mods because we didn't provide source because it was reported by so called m1 devs. So when u r not aware of such things dont try to get involved.
5. You are not forced to use this or that kernel infact roms too. No need to post such useless **** like this on xda platform.
6. Urs concerns barely effect us because we work based on our satisfaction not yours.
7. Try to learn about kernel before placing such useless **** like battery performance. We gave freedom to users to set what they want
8. Finally u say above ton community biased ??? I left to ur wisdom this one.
Thanks
Don't bring outside matters into XDA.
1. This is not the right platform to discuss this.
2. Never compare any ROM/Kernel... Developers make things according to their liking and they do not get paid for this.
Dude xda is xda and telegram is telegram.
Don't ever refer other platforms for issues here.
Also did you pay the developer to build a specific piece of software for you? If you didn't then you can't complain what they give you for free. If you use their software then thank them for giving their services for free.
Also no two developers are same TRB Developers can make their kernel as they want they did not came to you, you used their product for free.
If you like Pbh then be happy and don't compare kernels and roms each have their own set of modifications and features.
If you face a issue with any software which is free to you, you can only suggest the developer hoping it gets fixed. You can not demand anything from them according to your likings.
If you want everything you want hire developers and then you can have whatever you want. But if you use free stuff be grateful and thankful.
You bought the device from Asus and paid them go and complain to their devs don't cry on xda and telegram.
Hope this clears things up and teaches you what android developers do for you.

No thread for DU ROM

Anyone know why there's no thread for the Dirty Unicorns ROM for Coral? I've been running the last 2 builds and it's very stable.
MOD EDIT: DU link removed
I don't know the whole story/details but they parted ways from XDA a long time ago. I also don't think they want any links to their builds on XDA either. Not certain about this but I think it's something along these lines.
Du hasn't had a thread on xda for years, let's just say they aren't the best of friends. For info check there telegram channel
Dirty Unicorns links aren't allowed on XDA. They left this forum and use their own channels.
After XDA blew up with the Android Rooting scene the amount of Noobs coming in and asking questions that are answered with searching or reading more that two lines into the OP got so common that they got fed up with it.
It's actually spelled out in their website in a nicer way under

The forum moderator also spelled it out in the post above - don't post links from DU
Thread closed per my post above and the information from the DU website.
Link above can stay since it's not linking to a ROM directly, but rather to their announcements, where they specify their reasoning behind leaving XDA.
